There’s something inherently sleazy about central Texas DAs and law enforcement.

The comedy clubs are dying because Fifty percent of the electorate has had a complete humorectomy.
Soon it will feel like living in Cold War Eastern Europe.#62 GJT says:

Plus the comics anymore think the only way to be funny is lude jokes. Back in the day by George ….
Michael Berry has been talking about this lately, he mentioned that Jerry Seinfeld would not do any college’s because they are soo politically correct that ANY comedy offends SOMEONE…….SIGH…….
Mornin’ Gang -
Good morning again Hamsters.
Clouds and light rain come sneaking in on cat feet around our place while most of the action takes place over Houston so far. Nobody needs another deluge.
Is the OC pic above from scenic downtown Detroit?
-
Raining in Clear Lake, since well before daylight, a bout 1 1/2″ in the rain gauge.
-
Send some of that rain up my way.

That Waco thing has been ripening for quite a while now. The public announcements are being carefully worded, and we are only getting bits and pieces. Surely by now there should be some evidence being presented as to why all those people who were held on million dollar bonds have been released on much lesser amounts, why those that are still there haven’t seen their plea in court, who (or what) killed and wounded those unfortunates. And they dug up weapons??? Heck they may have even uncovered civil war relics. They included electronic zappers, probably pepper spray. I’m aware of a couple of women’s perfumes that could be considered weapons. It all stinks.
-
Tim, “lude jokes”??? I was going to say, there is no such word, but to my surprise, “lude” is now in the dictionary as “a pill of methaqualone”. I think you meant “lewd”. Good morning, everybody.

The truth will eventually come out, and there will be rending of garments and gnashing of teeth by those who screwed up, whereas those who were victimized unlawfully have every right to sue them out the wazoo into the next galaxy.

Hubby and I went to a local comedy club years ago. It seems that what passes for comedy these days depends strongly upon the “F” word. That was our last foray into the world of evenings out with comedy.
I long for the days of comedians and comediennes who depended upon timing, talent, and the nature of humanity in order to tickle the communal funny bone.
Lucille Ball
Carol Burnett, and her whole cast: Vicki Lawrence, Harvey Korman, Tim Conway, et al. – dang, what a group of talented people!
Flip Wilson
Don Rickles
Jonathan Winters
Lily Tomlin
Jeff Dunham
Bill Cosby (despite his latest troubles, he has talent!)
Bob Newhart
Robin Williams
Redd FoxxYep, hard to find comedy like that these days. I will say that Chris Rock can be funny, but he depends a lot on swear words. His timing and talent are there, though.

Fighting what seems to be a viral infection. Doc said that she could see some pressure in the eardrums, but no infection yet. Throat is sore, but not too bad – yet. I was trying to get in before I ended up in a fetal position, crying. Seems I’m still working out the antibiotics and steroids from my last recent infection, so she didn’t want to prescribe anything – yet.
So, my ears are bothering me but not painful, just uncomfortable. My throat is sore, but I can still talk. The drip, drip, drip has started, so I’m gargling and bought the distilled water for nasal irrigation. She recommended Afrin for a few days only, to see if that’ll dry up the drip before it causes too much trouble.
Dang virus.

Given what we have seen with the IRS, and the associated agencies targeting conservative groups, how is it possible that there won’t be similar politically motivated prosecutions the one hand and the ‘turning of a blind eye’ on the other?

1) They lose thier LEO license
2) They lose thier jobs and pensions
3) They lose thier freedom because they need to go to jail
4) They lose any ability to collect welfare, unemployment, etc.Let those POSs learn how to make an honest living that involves sweat and dirt.

From the ‘you just can’t make this schizzle up‘ dept:
HEADLINE: Figures: Nancy Pelosi finds a way to blame Republicans for Dems sinking ‘Obamatrade’
/snip
Just hours after House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., helped sink President Obama’s trade agenda, she indicated that more Democrats might be willing to support trade if Congress passed a long-term highway funding bill.
“The overwhelming vote today is a clear indication that it’s time for Republicans to sit down with Democrats to negotiate a trade promotion authority bill that is a better deal for the American people,” Pelosi said in a statement.
“The prospects for passage of a such a bill will greatly increase with the passage of a robust highway bill,” she added.
Democrats have been demanding a long-term highway bill for the last several months, but it’s unlikely that Republicans would do that favor for her just to secure more votes on trade. Most importantly, Republicans are split on how to find funding for a highway bill. The whole thing is quite telling – on both sides of the aisle.
-
To the R’s and D’s alike: We didn’t send those people up to Congress to get along. We sent them up there to put a stop to all this nonsense. All this kissy-face that Boner and his ilk are doing with Obammy just makes our country weaker and more vulnerable to outside economic and other pressures. How long until Hayseed Gramnasty comes out as a transracial instead of what he really is? It’s disgusting what they are doing to our children up there (it’s all about the children, you know).

I have mowed in the rain more times in the last 8 weeks than I have in my entire life.

I have never mowed in the rain. But then, I have a corded electric mower, so you can see why I wouldn’t.

Just heard a great line from “Bonanza”. Little Joe is teaching a mouthy guy a lesson, and dares him to a duel using beer instead of each other, to teach him a lesson.
Little Joe kills loudmouth’s beer before loudmouth got his gun out of his holster.

Add this to the list: “Voting Democrat”

Ooops. Here’s the link.

Things learned from liberal friends:
Gender is an arbitrary societal construct, but Hillary must be elected because we need a female president.
Gay marriage and abortion are in the constitution, while the right to bear arms is not.
My opinion as a woman only matters if I’m a Democrat.
A man can never understand a woman’s perspective on abortion, but he can become a woman.
You’re too old and too white to run for office … unless you’re a Democrat.
Death penalty for babies is part of women’s rights. Death penalty for sadistic murders is abhorrent.
Global warming is “settled science,” but a fetus is not alive.
Tolerance is a one-way street with liberals deciding the direction.
Christians are out of line for saying homosexuality is a sin, but Muslims throwing homosexuals to their deaths off of buildings are just practicing their peaceful religion.
If you want it, you’re entitled to it.
If I am losing a debate strictly on facts, I can call my opponent a racist or a bigot and the debate is over because I win.
If Christians would just learn to coexist with the peaceful Muslims, they wouldn’t be beheaded… It’s the Christians’ fault because — Crusades!
Gay marriage will have zero impact on you … Now bake a gay wedding cake or get sued for all you have worked for.
The Bible is completely irrelevant and absolutely false … until someone hurts their feelings. Then, God is love, and, “Judge Not.”
Science is king … except for that one lesson in biology regarding identifying sex as male or female. That’s not accurate at all.
Koch brothers = evil corporate interests; George Soros = benevolent donor.
The religion of preference is Islam. The favorite special interest group is the LGBT community… It does not matter that support of the first would result in the eradication of the other.
Gender is fluid; climate is not.
Life begins when they say, and chromosomes don’t matter.
Atheists, who claim God does not exist, believe He will be the end of civilization if we worship Him.
-
If anyone can be whatever gender or race they want to be, imagine what this will do to Affirmative Action and even to the welfare state.

We are fortunate to only have 0.3″ this afternoon, just enough to water everything that needs it but not too much. Small puddles were on the driveway and sidewalk, and they’re disappearing. However Houston and farther east seem to have gotten a lot. Certainly not what anybody needs right now.

My neighbor just came by and told me that they are having a big hoe down right here in central Texas tonight. They just block off the streets around the court house square, set up tables and chairs, everybody BYOB, and sit around for a free concert from a country artist named Gene Watson and no cover. I didn’t know they did this kind of stuff anywhere anymore.

Your reeducation is nearly complete. Here’s what now constitutes “Family TV” programming in our brave new world where Christians are evil and perversion and mental illness are heroic:
This summer, ABC Family will premiere Becoming Us, an unscripted show that chronicles the life of 17-year-old Ben Lehwald of Evanston, Illinois, as his father Charlie transitions to become Carly.

ABC is trying to self-destruct faster than previously imagined. Hard to tell whether the news division or the entertainment division pulls it down faster. It’s a regular double helix of debauchery and deceit.

Good morning Hamsters. Rain coming up from the Gulf but so far not heavy in the Houston area but really heavy from Victoria to San Antonio to just west of Austin and heading NW. Oh oh for the Hill Country. Looks like El Gordo might get some.
Let us hope there won’t be a tropical storm developing in the Gulf.
Otherwise it’s halfway pleasant this morning.

I had to refresh my memory on where San Saba is.
That boy’s smack dab in the middle of nowhere.
-
I’ve canoed the stretch of the Colorado River between San Saba and Bend many times. Very beautiful country up there. One of those trips we started on April 1st in the late ’80s. It was in the mid ’70s that first day. A storm rolled in that night, starting with lightning and thunder, and hail. By the time we got up it had turned to sleet. By the time we loaded up and got on the water it was 19 degrees and snowing with about a 30 mph wind. I’ve been in colder weather but that was the most miserable and cold I have ever been.

The more conservative Lutheran churches do not allow lay readers. I found this commentary on why.

We get down on one knee in church and in front of royalty, but why does a man do it in do it before the woman he loves? And why should we hold on tight to this well known tradition?
The origin of this tradition is unknown, but like I said, the action itself has been around for centuries. Catholics bend on one knee as a sign of respect toward the tabernacle before taking their seats for the Mass. Knights bend down on one before the king when being knighted and when presenting themselves in a show of honor to royalty. In war, the losing party would kneel in front of the army who won the battle in surrender.
Respect. Honor. Surrender. Those are the reasons behind the bended knee in a marriage. As a sign of respect, the man lowers himself as an act of humility before the woman he desires to spend the rest of his life with.
Furthermore, when he is on one knee, the man is faced to face with the woman’s womb, where life is created. He is honoring her body and honoring her as the Lord’s creation, which deserves to be revered.

Scraping the bottom of the barrel to come up with accomplishments. Her response alone is reason not to vote for her.
In speech, Hillary identifies 2 accomplishments as SecState: 1. Standing up to Putin. 2. Being in Situation Room night bin Laden was killed.
And the hilarity ensues…

Perusing the potpourri of Rachel Dolezal stories on Hot Air, that is one weird lady.

Mornin’, y’all. We’ve had a hard rain at Chez Harp. Still got standing water on the path to the rain gauge, so I haven’t gone out to get the reading. Only just finished the Sunday sudoku anyway. Off to a slow start today. 🙁

There’s a link at the side of this piece on the undisclosed by the all-racist all the time media about what happened at McKinney that wasn’t on the 7 minute clip everyone in the galaxy has seen. Very interesting and worth reading.

I don’t care for Rubio, don’t trust him, don’t plan to vote for him, BUT the Rubio ad in this link includes a clip of Hillary speechifying. Sure shows what a pathetic presence she is/has/makes.

There’s an old black pastor on Brenham radio that plays gospel music of the toe-tapping genre for an hour on Sunday morning. When I’m working I always listen.

At least Rubio has a team that attempts to respond. Quickly. …and without stumbling over their own feet.

In every Catholic Church I’ve ever been in, we usually have lay readers for the Old Testament and Epistle readings, but the Gospel is always read by the priest or ordained deacon.
Here recently all our Readings are being chanted (although they weren’t today). While I love the Gregorian chant-style for the various parts of the Mass, I find chanting the Readings very distracting. I cannot concentrate on the words.

We are getting a pretty good rain here in Glorious Copperfield right now.

Oh yeah, we got 0.5″ this morning, and it has rained again since then.

Booming up in here.

Hi Gang, I’ve been busy but it’s pretty and fair here in Clear Lake, we got 2 3/4″ of rain yesterday with the weather clearing out by about 4 PM.
-
You people selling yellow squash to HEB…they don’t need to be as big as watermelons.
Ain’t it the truth!! I love baked sweet taters but it’s almost imposable to find one that wouldn’t feed a couple of farm boys. My Dad spent 20 years reverse hybridizing them until he had them as they were when they came from South America, about 8-10″ long 1 1/2 to 2″ in diameter and pointed on each end. I always brought some home when he was still alive but sadly, they’re all gone now, my nephew kept them going for a few years but when he remarried he kinda’ got off the farming kick. FWIW; he was the son of a farmer.
-
My dad also had Black Eyed, Purple Hull, and Sugar Crowder Peas, along with Butter Beans and Okra, seeds that went back to his childhood. Every fall we’d dry and winnow the seeds. Not sure why, but we always planted hybrid corn, Field and Sweet. After his mother passed away in 1965 he put her old GE in the barn and kept all his seeds in it. That thing was purchased in 47 when REA brought in the power lines and finally died the same year as my Dad 2000?
-
#74 SD: The knowledge and skill required to render plantable seeds from fruits and veggies is becoming a lost commodity. I have never done it.

Amazingly all the rain has passed us by so far today, and there was only a spit last night. It goes either a ways west or east of us even though the clouds get dark seemingly not that far off.
-
I prefer field corn.
And purple hulls are the bomb.
Not a big fan of black eyes, so I smother ’em with japoleena peppers.
-
Whiskerfish is at a BACA meeting out here in downtown Monaville at the Thirsty Parrot, a biker bar of some repute – though it is on the wrong side of the river.
I’ve always liked this place and can recommend the food and ice cold beer.
And scenery.
I had to bring him his fancy battery pack that kept my phone charged up during last week’s ordeal.
The Ms isn’t faring so great. I told her no more fluid pills and no more BP pills for the next 18 hours.
Her blood pressure is so low it isn’t measurable.
Which is a good way to shut down your kidneys. -
Black eyed peas, with rice and Pace picante sauce all mixed together in the same bowl is so good it is dangerous.

I have determined that the Pace chunky medium hot loses some of its heat. Might have to stick with non-chunky. -
Sorry to hear Fay is not doing well.

Well I think they overreacted with the diuretics, understandably trying to keep the fluids reduced.
But what the hell do I know? -
I prefer field corn.
I do love sweet corn, but when the field corn started getting ready we’d roast it in the oven and DANG it was good. Have you every had sugar crowders? Dang they’re good, hard to shell though since they’re soo small. My all time favorite is small butter beans with southern fried corn bread…..Dang it’s gettin’ hungry in here. Might just have to get started on the Old Johnsonville Hot Brats.

On and Shannon, I hope your wife gets to feeling better, low blood pressure is worse than high, I think.

I ain’t buying either, the Sandra Slut saga as example of chinks in his armor? Give me a break.

Ima in the mood for grilling up some fajitas. I used to pride myself in prepping and marinating the meats from scratch but the pre-marinated stuff you can buy now is so good it wasn’t worth the trouble anymore. But son has come of age and raised proper and all wants to go from scratch like we used to so here I went spending twenty bucks to come up with not much different than I coulda bought pre-packaged for twelve. Gotta make them kids happy right? 😀
As someone always says, life is good!

Just came back from a meal at the Monument Inn near the San Jacinto Monument and the ferry. Hubby’s car club, the Bay Area Volkswagen Club, presented the parks department there with a $5,000 check from the car raffle proceeds from the Blue Tortuga I’ve mentioned before. Afterwards, the club paid for a group meal. My food was much better than expected. I had a very interesting discussion with the parks manager. I didn’t know that they had a family camping program, where they teach you how to camp. They have a truck with 8 campsites’ equipment. He described a summer program that they had for some school kids, too. One day, they toured the battleship, another day rode bikes around the monument, etc.
An interesting comment: back in the 70’s he said there’d be picnickers all over the place. These days, not so much. I mentioned that today’s kids and families want to play on computer games rather than be outside. He agreed.
He was an interesting fellow, and I’m glad I was able to have that conversation.

I’m with you. Look who’s bleating, that paragon of Soros truth, Media Matters. Not.
That means they’re scared silly of Rush’s influence now and through election day. And more scared of the eventual success of candidate(s) the Dems are stuck with at all levels. 🙂

Italy and Greece are apparently the usual places current refugees from ISIS coming through Libya aim for if they survive the journey these days, and neither country can afford to take them in. It is a crisis for both nations that are teetering on the brink of bankruptcy. Overflows end up in France and Germany that can’t afford the flood much better. The EU has a huge problem on its hands with illegal immigration compounding legal immigration of many years.
Before ISIS and with Moamar’s prior control of Libya to prevent mass migration and keep the lid on, it appeared to us as tourists in Italy two years or so ago that most African aliens in Italy were tall Somalis. We’d seen camps under bridges on excursions from the ship and groups of Africans selling merchandise in tourist areas like parking lots for tourist buses and near but not in historic attractions like the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
The difference between our first visit to Naples a couple of years ago and last fall was striking. Did not see them near the port or on the streets a few blocks away near the historic districts the first time. The Italians last fall kept them away from the port proper but seemed not to be able to restrict the vendors from streets a few blocks away. There was a mixed African group this time, and it was not comfortable walking past them to a museum we had not seen on the first visit.
Seems like when the Obama braintrust pulled the plug on Moamar they opened Pandora’s box for the flood to Europe with their imaginary Arab Spring debacle.
-
When Lovely and I made our trip to Italy in 2007, we saw many illegals selling handbags and such near some of the tourist sites. I gathered from conversations with our B&B owner and a few others that they were not welcome at all.
-
I’m just glad we have a tropical disturbance headed our way since we haven’t had any rain lately.
