EG
According to Merriam-Webster online dictionary, the meanings of evacuate are:

: to remove (someone) from a dangerous place

: to leave (a dangerous place)

medical : to pass (solid waste) from your body

So my use of the word in a non-medical context seems perfectly legit. Maybe you’ve had too many enemas lately?

Sarge, you’ve mentioned a lovenest but does that mean you moved? I saw your pix on FB but not clear if the flooding threatened you or not.

I think the local news whores have been interviewing the same old guy at Banana Bend every flood event since I moved to Houston in 1981. He talks about how turrible the flood is this time, they ask him if he’s ready to move to higher ground, and he always responds “Hell No! I love the river!”

I’ve lost so much confidence in our public officials that I would go out of my way to defy their orders. And the media hype that accompanies (or in many cases leads) these public announcements and pronouncements just makes it worse. It had been building for years but seemed to peak when Rita was out there, resulting in the absence… Read more »

page 53: Advancement within a totalitarian group or party depends largely on a willingness to do immoral things. The principle that the end justifi es the means, which in individualist ethics is regarded as the denial of all morals, in collectivist ethics becomes necessarily the supreme rule. There is literally nothing which the consistent collectivist must not be prepared to… Read more »

#9: I gleaned this nugget on page 44 of the pdf: To many who have watched the transition from socialism to fascism at close quarters the connection between the two systems has become increasingly obvious, but in the democracies the majority of people still believe that socialism and freedom can be combined. They do not realize that democratic socialism, the… Read more »

I got some bad news via Lovely Daughter this morning.

A very good friend of theirs has passed away. He leaves 3 children under five years of age and a wife. Please pray for the peaceful repose of his soul and peace and comfort for the family.

Thank you.

back 50 years to the old Scuppernong vine here at the old home place

Is that vine still alive and producing?

I stopped by the Perdido Vineyards on the way over here yesterday, I’ve driven by it a thousand times, just never stopped. They’re the first vineyard established in Alabama, (1979) since prohibition. They only use Muscadine grapes and I got a bottle of dry red (Ecor Rouge) and a sweet red, (Marengo) I usually don’t like a sweet wine but… Read more »
