#3 SD : I have a real hard time trying to figure out how that gizmo passes 4th Amendment scrutiny absent a warrent. I have heard rumors about a similar gizmo that can see what is inside the house through the walls from the street. I have yet to read an article about same, however.

The above is a story about a bar restaurant opening with the same name and in the same place as an old Houston grocery store, Henkel and Pillot. My paternal grandmother’s uncle was the very Camille Pillot mentioned in the article.
I will have to have a drink there sometime, perhaps we could do a brew haha there. -

Interesting caption below the picture in the above story. The celebration is for ashoura day. That sounds a whole lot like ashtara which is the pagan god that got Israel in so much trouble in the Old Testament days. -
Newly sworn in Sen. Don Huffines said Thursday the Texas Legislature would approve a bill that allows Texans to carry guns without a permit.
The article takes issue that the bill won’t “allow” Texans to open carry. What it does is put Texas back in the constitutional box.

Conservatives need a simple message that enables the sound bite mentality of the American electorate to realize they are being fed a hearty helping of bovine excrement.
Kind of hard to do when political positioning is based on 140 Twitter characters. I could post the linked story on Facebook and garner a whole slew of likes. I can almost guarantee MAYBE one person will have read the entire opinion piece.

What an interesting race it would be, Col West against a Fauxahauntas or Hitlery or some nancy boy libternozzle D. . . . . .
The Rs would put up the genuine article who just happens to be black (as opposed to the race baiting jug-eared jackass there now); what would happen to all the calls of racism? Who would the traditionally D voting blacks vote for then?
Col West would appeal to the Tparty as well as the squishy Rs who think in terms of appeasement. Put someone like Cruz as the VP and it looks even better. Cruz would serve as assassination insurance for Col West in exactly the opposite way that Bite-Me does now. Cruz is the LTNs worstest nightmare.

Henke and Pillot is my earliest memory of a grocery store. My mother shopped there when we lived in Oak Forest in the 50s. I can still hear her saying, “We’re going to Henke’s”.

I remember my grandmother in Beaumont (a pastor’s wife) always asking the question of what would happen if Mr. Henke sold out to Mr. Drinkwater. (I believe the pronunciations were “Henkee and Peelot”).

Yep, I’m on a winning streak lately. 🙂 This was an online raffle for a lavish set of girly-girly bath and body care products, retail value $175. The page raised $300 to benefit their special needs rescue dogs. I was surprised to win, but I donated the prize back to them for a future raffle. (Ivory soap is more my style.)

I was at Kroger on Sunday picking an assortment of pudding cups, fruit cups, juices, and Jumex nectar drinks. Went through an Express line cashiered by an older guy I’ve known at Kroger stores for about 15 years. He saw the array of items I had put on the roller and asked “You got grandchildren for the weekend?” Nope, told him I had a 70-year-old invalid who won’t eat. “Got to coax him, huh?”
Well, the banana cream puddings and pear nectar got us 2 days farther along, so almost back on his regular diet today. He has a lab visit on Friday, blood draw related to a med change, and I’m pretty sure I’ll have to take him — he’s not going to be able to drive by Friday, no matter what he thinks.
That little 17-y.o. cat upstairs is starting to like me, while feeding her anyway. The stairs have been good exercise. (Pollyanna, that’s me…)

I decided to buck up and put aside my racial animus and go ahead and watch the STFU. I made it only about 5 minutes and just couldn’t take it any more. Did get one good laugh when I saw SJL hogging the walkway, but that was the highlight.

I got a call a couple on nights ago from Lil’ Sis’ Katie and she’s pregnant with baby #4. I’m very happy for her and her husband. She said if this one’s a boy (again) they may try for another one. (like they wouldn’t anyway 🙂 )

A pox on his house!!Yup I watched about 10 minutes on the tube. When he mentioned that more people have insurance, I about went crazy since he took away my insurance, I could have kept it but I couldn’t afford the $300 a month increase………EVERYBODY’s insurance will go down by about $2500!! SPITS~ 🙁

My wife is the perfect test for the battle the GOP has in winning hearts and minds. She is not into politics but is as right wing as you can get, I wanted to watch Joni Ernst give the response speech and got her to watch this new gal. All I got after listening to this blah, blah, blah was, “why does she wear a wig?” I don’t know why they do these.
