We’ve all likely tried to sing along with a song on the radio from time to time. Sometimes the lyrics are clear and obvious, sometimes not. Even when the lyrics seem clear, we might not be entirely correct in what we think they are.
There are many more here.

Althuogh they’ve never sung a lullaby to their little brother, I cannot express gratitude enough to how helpful Janisen and Kason have been with Aedhun. Rhuelin and Breelahn do well also. With all that said, enjoy:

Holm is 5-8, an inch taller than the 5-7 Rousey, and has a 70-66 advantage in reach.
Despite Holly Holm’s skill as a mixed martial artist and superior reach, Rousey’s game is not in boxing but in Judo. Rousey will shorten the distance as fast as she could and once she grabs hold of Holm, she’ll (Holm) be in deep doodoo

Global warming will kill us all; Brisbane hits coldest temperature in 103 years.
If you are lucky enough to be reading this from the comfort of your blankets, it might be best to stay there, as Brisbane has hit its coldest temperatures in 103 years.
Not since July 28 1911 has Brisbane felt this cold, getting down to a brisk 2.6C at 6.41am.
At 7am, it inched up to 3.3C.
Matt Bass, meteorologist from BOM, said the region was well below our average temperatures.
“If it felt cold, that’s because it was, breaking that record is pretty phenomenal for Brisbane,” Bass said.
“The average for this time of year is 12C, so Brisbane was about 9C below average, it is pretty impressive really, to have the coldest morning in 103 years is a big record.”
The coldest place across the state was Oakey which got down to -6.1C, which was the coldest temperature for the town since 2011.Mornin’ Gang

That’s the way I hear it every single time that song comes on. There’s another one with Wynonna Judd but I can’t think of it. -
I guess that’s why I don’t like much popular music. No clue what they are shrieking about…

We went to our first neighborhood watch meeting last night, we were pleased to find it was attended by only the devoted regulars (God Bless ’em) looking out for the rest of us, there the first Friday of every month, mostly
retardedretired folks. The biggest item on the agenda was a couple of turned over garbage cans.
Shoot, we had lots more than that in our old supposedly ritzy subdivision with all the pampered teenagers. -

Yup, our allies are far ahead of us on throwing the bums out. -
This is definitive evidence that the current flood of unaccompanied minors is a planned policy decision by the Obama Administration that was in the works for several years..Now, we have clear evidence that Obama has been manipulating religious groups by greasing their palms with tens if not hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars.
Between Dec 2010 and Nov 2013, the Catholic Charities Diocese of Galveston received $15,549,078 in federal grants from Health & Human Services for “Unaccompanied Alien Children Project” with a program description of “Refugee and Entry Assistance.”

Vote for the GOP candidate to get what’s left of America back on track.
Gutless
Out of touch
Powerless
When the chips are down and there’s a real crisis, vote for us because in the end we have the power to do absolutely nothing and we know better than anyone how not to do anything.
We’re scared as a little jackrabbits when we are in the presence of OCloven Hoof or his propagandist media demons.
So remember in the Nov. 2014 midterms vote for the party of Powerless Pansies and Pushovers if you really want to get things done. -

#9 SD – I’ll explain this one more time. When it’s hot, that’s “global warming.” When it’s cold, it’s “climate change.” When it’s just right, the administration’s policies are working. When it’s not just right, it’s the Republicans obstructing the administration’s policies. Now are you beginning to get the idea of how it works?
-
EG: How do these polar vortices (vortexes?) fit in with the MMGW theory? Is it really too much heat that makes it colder than usual? Inquiring minds want… a snow job.

Ah, the internet, duh (to myself).
Whewn Niki and I first moved to Illinois we stayed with my parents. Turns out we decided to move out much sooner than originally planned. The main culprit was having my mother and Niki reside in the same house. That wasn’t pretty. (And this was before the internet 🙂 ) -

I got up this morning and went to have blood drawn for some lab tests. Trying to figure out if my diet is working enough that I’m still avoiding diabetes and if my thyroid is having fits – both of those run strong in the women in my family. If my thyroid is sluggish, that might explain why my weight loss is soooooooooooooooo slooooooooooooowwwww despite the 6 hours of exercise each week along with my diet. If it’s okay, then I’m just one of those “slow losers” that Dr. Atkins described. (Future “dangit” is in order, I think.)
Since I was in the area, I went to Half Price books and got a few books for my family, and found a few more for my class at the end of the year – spirituality, Christian living/dating, etc. I went in for one book and ended up spending $85, most of which will be given away. I hope the kids appreciate it! Handsome got a coupla books for man type food – “A Man, A Can, and a Plan”. Some day, when he finishes school and moves out, I’m assuming he’ll need to feed himself. The book has very simple recipes involving one or two cans of whatever and a basic ingredient. Lotsa pictures, very few words. The kind of cookbook he can understand.
Then I went to Hobby Lobby to get a few things to make something for Sunshine for her birthday in just a few weeks. The project I was working on is just not working…so I’ll try something else. Struggled through HEB to get a few things, stopped at the shop to pick up the mail (only a bill, dangit), and on my way home checked out a few garage sales. Scored an almost brand new car seat for a bigger Sunshine for either my use or Lovely’s for only $20. Back home to wash several days’ worth of dishes. Now I’m finishing up a movie before visiting my mother and delivering her laundry, then on to the gym, then back home to cook dinner.
Houseguest will be making his appearance again tomorrow. /sigh Somewhere amongst all this, I must TRY to catch up on my bookkeeping….. -
#31 – The polar vortex occurs as the result of a number of phenomena all happening at the same time; particularly things like adverse supreme court rulings, stupid statements by the vice President, and poor polling results occurring simultaneously can trigger a polar vortex to fill the void created with the MSM refuses to report on what is actually going on. This is typically reserved for a series of events so severe that the usual methods of blaming Bush and climate change do not work, and can also result in massive forest fires, drought, toronados, freak ice build-up at the poles, and the like.

UAW coming to Chattanooga VW, despite getting thumbs down from workers.
“It’s in part designed to deliberately confuse the people of Chattanooga and the people in this plant,” Semmens said. “A lot of times the UAW wants people to feel peer pressure. ‘Oh well, they’re already in place. I may as well join them because every one else is, already.’”
Semmens talked to Tennessee Watchdog on Thursday, before a UAW press conference where many details were unveiled.
“These people said from the beginning that they weren’t going away,” Semmens said.
UAW officials didn’t immediately return Tennessee Watchdog’s requests for comment Thursday, while VW spokesman Scott Wilson had little to say.
“Just like anywhere else in the world, the establishment of a local organization is a matter for the trade union concerned,” Wilson said. “There is no contract or other formal agreement with UAW on this matter.”
The UAW tried earlier this year to appeal its failed attempt to organize at Volkswagen’s Chattanooga plant.
In its filing, the UAW specifically mentioned what it called outside third parties, specifically elected Tennessee Republican officials such as U.S. Sen. Bob Corker, who publicly spoke out against the union.
In turn, the NRWF filed a motion to intervene in the situation on behalf of five Chattanooga VW workers who participated in this month’s vote, which went against the UAW by a tally of 712 to 626.
The UAW may not legally attempt another vote at the plant until at least early next year.
Tennessee is a right-to-work state, meaning workers can’t be fired for not joining the UAW and paying union dues.SPITS~

Yes, Tedtam’s To Do lists must be 3 pages long when she heads out to “run a few errands”…
Me, I mowed the small back yard this morning and felt invigorated. I just had my big front lawn mowed this week by the next door neighbor’s adult nephew, but it looked like a shabby job. Somehow, the top of the clipped grass looked wavy, like it’s not all at the same even height. Dunno how that happens, but I’m not going to pay for it to look like that again. Next time a mow is needed, I am going to find out if I can still do the front yard in one morning. If I can’t, then I’ll do it in 2 days.
I went in for my 3-month checkup on New Knee #2 this week, and expected it to be the final check. But the doc said it looked like there was some inflammation and put me on an anti-inflammatory that I took several years ago for bursitis in one shoulder. So now I have to go back for a 4-month checkup. At least I only had to go to the Gulag Gals for 2 months for this rehab, and not the full 3 months that I did for the other knee. -
I likewise get exhausted just reading Tedtam’s to do list.

I spotted a developing wasp nest on a window frame in the front yard. Normally I would just wait until an hour before dusk, when they all congregate on the nest for the night, get the wasp spray, shake the can to gauge how much it contained, then go spray them. But this time I told my husband about it, and that I was afraid I couldn’t run if I needed to. 🙂 -
As long as we are on the topic of artificial joints, I’d like to report that having my hip replaced last year was probably the best thing I’ve ever done for myself, except possibly for divorcing my first wife. Replacing the opposing knee later was not the cake walk that the hip was, but it’s coming around pretty well. I know about those lady therapists – they don’t seem to feel a damn bit of that pain when they are working you over. Anyway, hope that knee clears up quickly. I think living with a little swelling is just the was it will be, and as long as there is no pain, I can deal with that.

Personally, I can’t stand to look at or listen to anything OCloven Hoof says anymore.
If I’m watching TV and they start show a clip of him lying about something I immediately turn the channel. If I hear his voice on the radio I shut it off or switch the station.
So wouldn’t you know that when I go to listen to a song on youtube there’s his likeness again. -
My new home town is the same as my old home town, San Saba, Tx. just west of Austin about 100 miles (far enough away from the liberal enclave. Having been gone for about 50 years except for periodic visits, about the only difference I can see is that they have added a second traffic signal light (we call it a red light in San Saba). Got a lot of work to do on the house and yard, so it should keep me busy for a good while.

Good morning Hamsters. Not quite so comfy 72 and ground mist aplenty, but then we’re in the midst of a Summer that fortunately thus far has not been beastly. Gorgeous Moon early on.

Sounds like a compliment to me. 🙂
Gotta hand it to Maureen Dowd, liberal though she might be, when she finds unacceptable behavior in her own ranks she shreds it as readily as she attacks conservatives. She got Obama’s number early in the 2008 campaign when she rather benignly commented on the size of his ears and he rather imperially suggested she no do that again. Which she dutifully reported in a subsequent column. At least some liberals have a limit on accepting imperial behavior from mere politicians with inflated opinions of themselves. -
And that woman thought she had it bad, with an extra nose growing on her back.
-
I think the Clintons should tell Mo Dowd to stick it….

Mo is probably knocking down a quarter mill for being the biggest dilettante in the business.

OK, so ole Dave didn’t get the memo, is there something going on today that I need to know about? It’s Sunday, middle of July, no holiday, no Super Bowl, and the traffic is surprising light here in Clear Lake, NOT Super Bowl light, just not like a Sunday. That said; I’ve not been brave enough to venture west to I 45 where all the construction is going on. BTW; Has there EVER been a time when they weren’t working on 45 south? I’ve been here almost 32 years and they’ve been at the whole time that I’ve been here.
-
SD, many years ago I heard the I 45 had never not been under construction at some point, I don’t think that has changed. 😀
The wife is showing houses in Seabrook and Deer Park today, she axed me to look at construction shut downs and what routes to take. I looked at them and said just don’t get inside the belt is all I can suggest. I think it’s working out ok. -
#82 Super Dave: I’ve lived in the S.E. Houston area for 55+ years. If you define the Gulf Freeway as IH45 between downtown and the Galveston causeway, there has never been a period of time when some section was not under construction. The Chronicle did a story several years ago where they interviewed a construction worker, his son and his grandson – they all three were working on the Gulf Freeway. The Grandfather had been working on it his whole adult life.

Well scrolling through the wasteland that is modern TV, I passed the Mesican channel and they were show a “Kick Ball” game, not surprising but scrolling further its on one of the old alphabet channels, ABC,…I think, I’m guessing that their ratings were way too high in this time slot so airing this JOKE would be a good way to lower them significantly. No matter to me, as I very seldom watch any of the drivel on ABCBSNBC, have y’all seen what passes for regular TV nowadays? That said; cable/Uverse/Dish isn’t much better…….SIGH…… 🙁 -
Hey, it’s getting dark outside, thunder boomers and a nice light show is starting up! I hope we get at least a drop or two before it heads north…….BLINK, BLIP Boom!

I used my water-throwing impulse sprinkler in the front yard today, first time this year. It was looking very parched. The back yard trees do a much better job of shading the grass during the hottest part of the day. Unfortunately we had to give up on a big old water oak a couple of years ago that had previously shaded the side of the front lawn it dominated. A huge hickory is still going strong but doesn’t provide very good shade. I am remembering some water bills from 2 summers ago that hit $150 in the late summer. Ugh.

Wrong war?In what respect?
-
Wrong war for the gun.
-
Which war is right?
-
I’m not real sure what it is but I didn’t think it was a rifle used in WWII. Maybe the Great War?
-
Germans used a bolt action rifle all through WW2. The United States was the only nation that fielded a semi-auto for the entire course of the war. Late in WW2, the Germans did come out with a rifle that is the pre-courser of today’s “Assault Rifle”, so if you are basing your “wrong war” on the fact that there is a bolt action rifle in the picture, you are incorrect.
-
I finally remembered to stumble across Stossel, and I was excited to see the show. I usually like his stuff. It was a discussion on media bias.
I went back to Netflix and am watching “Say Yes to the Dress”. (Lovely got me watching the show some years ago. Some of those mothers make me want to reach through the screen and slap the c**p outta them.) It’s actually more interesting than Stossel, which surprises me. -
Didn’t say anything about the bolt action. I said it didn’t look like any WWII era German rifle I remember.
-
It is, in fact, an M1894 Krag-Jorgensen used by US troops in the Spanish American War.
But it looks like just about every bolt action ever made. There is one feature that identifies it as a Krag, something that is different from every other military bolt action rifle used by a major nation since the 1890s.
