Hump Day.

That wasn’t really what I wanted to see first thing in the morning but I does make you think. So sad.

Colorado is going to mandate per-marital classes before issuing marriage licenses – 10 hr class for first time marriage, 20 hrs for second and 30 hrs for third. I think for four timers they just send you to The Weed Store.

Is that a rabbit in your ear or are you just happy to see me?

“And I think it was from that point on that I realized that there are other people like her out here, more so than any other girl I interviewed, because it was so personal,” Krauss said.
“And it turned out that she had walked about 25 miles to get to that shelter in the freezing cold, and she was three months pregnant. I found out, because she had to go to the hospital the next day, because she was in trauma,” Krauss said, who added that the girl was okay. “I was at the birth of her child. Her child is in the movie. She’s in the movie acting.
“She’s great in the movie, and she’s now, just passed her CNA to be a nurse. She works at the shelter. She helps others. She’s a house mother there,” he said. The young female residents at the shelter chose Vanessa Hudgens to play the lead character.
She stars with Brendan Fraser and James Earl Jones. All three donated their fees to the shelter at the end of filming. -

Wonder what they’ll put in the ear of Obama’s statue. He prolly already has had one made though.

I got so tired of the hand wringers talking about stand your ground laws in the Trayvon Martin case because it had nothing to do with it. The case was simple self defense. Ted Cruz sums it up pretty good here; Ted Cruz To Trayvon Martin’s Mother: Stand Your Ground Laws Are Not Racist.

Over the weekend I noticed BET was airing Gifted Hands-The Ben Carson Story. I was surprised, first because I had never heard of the movie, and second, that BET would have the temerity to show an uplifting story about a black man who didn’t come from the grievance plantation. Unfortunately I was on my way out the door and didn’t get to see it. Has anyone else seen it?

HEADLINE: Fracking Protesters Arrested for Gluing Themselves to the Wrong Petrol Pumps
One of the things I find particularly amusing and infuriating at the same time is the fact that we have been fracking for over 50 years.

In case anyone wants to see L’il Sunshine, Lovely Daughter has posted a new blog, and there’s a pic of the two of them at the top.
I’m assuming that she’ll post from time to time, so you can keep up with Sunshine’s progress, also. And Lovely’s sanity level. -
It might help if I include the link.

From Glenn Reynolds at Instapundit:
MICKEY KAUS: The Coming GOP Amnesty Sellout Push.
The coming weeks will see the formal start of the GOP House leadership’s attempt to sneak an immigration amnesty through the Republican caucus and into law. We don’t know the exact details of the proposals, but we know enough. . . .
It takes some chutzpah for Boehner to make his amnesty push now, given the sour jobs news, falling measured support for amnesty, and the need for party unity in the coming midterm elections. You’d think the employment news alone–almost 3 unemployed Americans for every available job–would cause savvy lobbyists to postpone any attempt to push for a massive addition to the unskilled and skilled workforce. (The Senate’s bill would add about 6 million extra immigrant workers by 2023 – in addition to the current illegals who’d be legalized.) Maybe that could fly in a boom. But now?
Democrats used to push for tighter labor markets–they’re the best proven way to lower poverty, boost wages and curb income inequality. Today, the job of pointing that out has fallen to Republican Jeff Sessions, who has been fighting the battle Democras like Byron Dorgan and Barbara Jordan used to fight. Do we want to give less skilled Americans millions of new competitors, inevitably bidding down wages at the bottom? (“Did they repeal the law of supply and demand and not tell me about it?” asks Jim Cramer.) The groups most marginally connected to the labor market–e.g, teenage African Americans–would be the biggest losers. Democrats used to understand this.
It’s a sellout. That’s a term I don’t use lightly. Certainly there are plenty of idealistic, principled advocates of “comprehensive immigration reform” — including true believers in open borders, advocates of immigrants’ rights, and ethnic champions. Even the employers who are providing the financial muscle behind the amnesty push may sincerely think spoiled American workers just aren’t cutting it anymore, that the economy needs better, cheaper, hungrier immigrants — heaven forbid responsible corporatist roundtablers should have to actually train those spoiled Americans.
But why are the politicians abandoning the economic interests of the country’s basic laborers, and the strong anti-amnesty convictions of their own constituents (in the case of most Republicans), and doing it at such an objectively inauspicious time? It’s hard to deny that cash is doing much of the swaying here. “[A]ll the money is on the side of pushing it,” one pro-amnesty Democratic Congressman boasted–money in the form not only of direct campaign contributions, as promised by Mark Zuckerberg ($50 million) and the Chamber of Commerce, but also future consulting contracts and lobbying positions for those who echo the line that Republicans just have to do this to remain viable.Actually, I don’t think they can remain viable if they do. It’s (another) big push in the direction of a massive base-walkaway from the GOP, and quite possibly the formation of a third party.

Re fracking: We know that fracking has been taking place for more than 50 years. There have never been any concerns for groundwater contamination up until a year or two ago, I wonder why that is?
My employer told me something interesting several years ago: He said that the world ran out of $20/bbl oil years ago, but there is plenty of oil at $100/bbl now. The increased price of crude allows for more money to be spent to search for, produce and deliver the additional bbl of crude and still return a profit to those willing to take the risk. -

I wonder how long it will be before we are called “sexist” for pointing out the lies from the D-Bag, Wendy “The Whiner” Davis?

There have never been any concerns for groundwater contamination up until a year or two ago,
I was talking with an oil executive a couple of years ago about an environmental conference he had attended. He said that the environmentalists were changing tactics to go after ground water. They couldn’t get anybody excited about something that happens 3 miles underground but surface water would be hot button. Looks like he was right.
Full disclosure: It’s the business I am in. I am an exploiter of mother gaia. Bwhaha ha -
Anti-fracking hysteria appeared in TV shows at least 4-5 years ago. There was a CSI episode where private water wells were exploding and going up in petroleum flames. As I recall, it turned out there was a bad guy salting the wells and lighting them up, for some devious purpose.

When I think about the lefty enviro-wackos and all of their stunts, I can only conclude that they are committed to stirring up strife – it is their reason for being. The Proverbs, particularly ch. 14-18, are full of descriptions as to how HE feels about those who stir up strife, ditto that for the first few chapters of Romans. When one looks at the wackos they are the same ones who will rabidly denounce Israel, oppose the death penalty yet in the same breath demand that the tax payer pay for an abortion on demand, rail at the successful while praising the failures, they call good bad and bad good. They are more clearly identifying themselves as chirrenzes/seed of the evil one.
Just like the explanation of the parable of the wheat and tares – they are becoming ever more evident as to what and who they are. -
He who stirs the strife (schizzle) pot needs to be forced to lick the spoon.

From deep in the Bravo Sierra department we have this
HEADLINE: DHS: ‘We Effectively and Sensibly Enforce Our Nation’s Immigration Laws’
Yes, you read that headline correctly. As I rapid cycle between guffaws of laughter and screams of rage at the sheer lunacy of the statement, I can only wonder how much more of this crapola are we expected to endure before the revolution starts?

Wow. OH4 just found some old Zip drive disks that I had in stashed way back in my old office supplies. I used them a lot for backups. They weren’t used for long, but I like ’em. I may see if I can find an old zip reader so I can use them again.
They’d be safe from theft. No one would steal them! -

I may see if I can find an old zip reader so I can use them again.
Why would you want to?
A Zip disk was about 100MB(?) = 0.1GB and the media isn’t very stable.
You can get flash drives with much more capacity and with higher data transfer rates for less than $5. -

I took my husband to the local shop to pick up his car. Then I drove on to the Food Doodle to get milk and bananas. I was low on lettuce so I picked up a gigantic romaine that barely fit into the plastic produce bag.
I am telling this story because it is the first time I ever injured myself with lettuce. When I bent over to put the bag into the produce drawer at the bottom of the fridge, the weight of that big romaine smashed one of my fingers against the top of the drawer. Broke the skin, drew blood, bled for a long time. I am well and truly over the hill. -
That’s (or was) a natural thing in Mont Belvieu.
CSI is set in Las Vegas.

I know that.
I’m saying that Mont Belvieu had natural gas in well water years ago, before hydraulic fracturing was a thing. -

Good afternoon Hamsters. Morning low hit 28 just before sunrise, plenty of heavy frost decorated all, crisp air encouraged fast walking to and from the barn. Did not turn the mares out until well after sunrise and warmer temps–upper 30s–had arrived. Today is to be savored if the forecast for tomorrow and Friday is correct, which it likely is since it keeps getting more ominous the closer Thursday comes.
Seems Hurricane Wendy keeps blowing harder today. As Tedtam says in #17, stop digging already. Those footfalls we hear in the distance are her outside of Texas foreign supporters having second and third thoughts about hanging around and spending more of their $$ on an imploding cause. Give sympathy to her former husband and the two daughters, who must be mortified. Likely many of the Texas supporters feel like retreating to fainting couches and using smelling salts to regain composure. Well, for some of ’em it would be something a bit stronger. This is surreal. Paging Mel Brooks? -

Next time you tell your liberal budz that Wendy Davis is bat processed bugs crazy direct them to page 11 of her original lawsuit against the Star Telegram in Fort Worth where she states:
“As a result of the actions above (Star Telegrams editorials against Davis), Davis has suffered and continues to suffer damage to her mental health, damages to her mental health ……………….
Davis herself said that. I think the woman is sick I mean she uses a catheter

Everyone uses a catheter for a fillibuster, unless they have a step-in who can take the floor while they step out for a minute. -
She could have used those high-tech NASA diapers that the cray-cray astronautette used on her mission to Florida to fight for her man.

Wendy “baby killer” Davis chose to use a catheter so she could vigorously advocate for the killing of innocent babies. She is the definition of evil.

As well as depriving seniors of drugs, CMS wants to deprive them of their doctors.
Doctors are dropping out of Medicare due to low reimbursements and massive paperwork. But under the proposed regulations, if seniors receive prescriptions from doctors who do not participate in Medicare, these prescriptions cannot be covered under Part D. This holds even if the senior is paying for Part D.
Since pharmaceuticals are often costly, this regulation, if made final, would have the practical effect of requiring seniors to see doctors who are enrolled in Medicare. -

I think they will still send money, but they know she isn’t going to win. They’ll send the money here so that the Pubbies will have to spend money here and not someplace else.
I don’t think anybody seriously thinks she has a chance. -

So, let me get this straight:
1) The government makes it nearly impossible for most doctors to remain in Medicare.
2) This forces patients to find new doctors outside of Medicare.
3) The non-MC doc issues prescriptions for medications to patients.
4) Patients cannot afford to pay for the medications, so they’ve purchased Part D to help cover the costs. (Which costs them money, btw, further diminishing their dwindling cash resources. But I digress.)
5) The government’s jackboot lands on the elderly grandma, telling her it won’t allow her to use Part D coverage, since her doctor is not one of their anointed.
6) The cowering grandma has to fork out the remainder of her savings to pay for the meds – SINCE SHE CAN’T GET A DOCTOR IN MEDICARE TO BEGIN WITH.
My head hurts. But Grandma’s head won’t hurt for long because:
7) Grandma dies from starvation because she can no longer afford food, hypothermia or heat stroke because she can’t afford to heat or cool her home, or from her illness, because she can’t afford her meds.
