I’m doing my part. In fact, I’m probably picking up the slack for about ten of you people.
This is shameful:
Not as bad as the UK & Ireland, homes of the originals, but come on, people.
Uruguay?
France?
We can do better, although we may be able to pass up Uruguay, since they went and legalized the Holy Herb and will probably forget where they put the whisk(e)y.
Really, People?

One of the benefits of withdrawing from politics is I don’t have to listen to the ads over and over and over. But I did catch that Jerry Patterson’s daddy flew in a bomber.
-
Good morning Hamsters. Blustery north wind with teeth and 51 at 6. Another front is on the doorstep, and we’re in what for here passes for the dead of Winter, ‘cept this year it’s deader than usual. Many of our outdoor plants look pretty bad thanks to the previous deep freeze days, though there is some green hiding deep inside the foliage. The lawn has little green left, and that is tinged with yellow. But the pansies still look great.
Amazing the Russians aren’t right up there near the top, so one must assume whiskey is quite expensive there whereas vodka isn’t. -
Jerry Patterson’s daddy flew in a bomber.
A B-24, just like David Deworst, whose dad flew a B-26. Hey my daddy flew in a B-24 does that make me a good choice for dog catcher?
Mornin’ Gang
It’s back to the salt mine. -
My dad, Bucolic Buffalo, once flew in a Lockheed Constellation.
-
Dang.
My daddy sold lawn tractors.
I’m screwed. -
It is on mornings like this I have to stop and take inventory of the reasons I am still
living in this place.
Today’s – high/low temperatures 22/9
Tomorrow’s – 13/6
Thursday – 20/3
Friday – 18/11
Those are actual temperatures – not wind chill – which is minus 1 degree here this morning as 10 inches of snow begin to fall. -
So men are even competitive over what their daddies did during the wars?
/smh
Oh and good morning to all denizens of Hamsterville. -
I would imagine the degree of unpleasantness from cold weather depends on the factor of if you have to get out in it or not. Now that I don’t have to, I sometimes wake up earlier than I intend to get up, visualize myself already out in the cold and dark driving 25 miles to Sugar Land, then roll over and go back to sleep.
🙂 -
Maybe we should elect Paterson’s mom. She seems a better candidate although she may be off on what it means to be proud of her son. My mom is proud of who I am, not the job I have.
-
My daddy was a barber in the Navy.
I should run for mayor or sumpin’.
But then, I’d have to commute. Like MHarper, I do enjoy not having to go out on cold days. My morning commute consists of walking downstairs for breakfast, then back up to the office.
Although, I run errands every day, and those do require me to leave the house. At least I can hold those off until the afternoon, when temps are better. Today, I get to go to the post office to pick up a certified letter from our insurance agent, stating that he did indeed send our proof of insurance to our jackwiss customer. We’ve been accused of not doing so.
Must change my focus. It’s too early to get so angry. -
Suppose you are flying an airliner through a cloud at an altitude of 36,000 ft (~226 hPa). In order to provide a breathable environment inside the cabin, airlines bring in outside air and use it to ventilate the cabin. If the desired pressure inside the cabin is approximately that found at 10,000ft of altitude (~697 hPa), what must be done to the incoming air?
answer which attracted much garbage:

#73: Ya gotsta add some water vapor to the mix, because there ain’t none up there. This was the correct answer.
If we add no moisture to the air, the relative humidity at our target temperature of approximately 22C would be about 0.42%, which is very, very dry – to the point that the passengers would experience nosebleeds and other ill effects.
So we need to add quite a bit of water to the incoming air after we run it thru a really good heat exchanger. Enough to raise the humidity to about 50%.Why oh why did you wait so long to declare that I had the correct answer, Mr. Smartypants?
While there was 100% relative humidity at that temp/press, at human comfort conditions there simply twernt enough. -

Our things are cyberattacking us!
All my frig has is an icemaker, and my microwave is the same one Hubby and I got for our wedding mmmphh years ago. Our oven is programmable, but it’s not connected. Our TV, however, with the DVR and the Wii, may be vulnerable.
Sometimes, low tech is the best tech. -
For those of us who don’t drink whiskey, perhaps we can buy a bottle to clean wounds or something.

Moderation and good booze are the preventers of those.

Reminiscent of the movie I watched last night during a bout of insomnia. A really hokey movie with Emilio Esteves, based on a Stephen King novel, in which all the machines start attacking us. Esteves works at a truck stop besieged by attacking, driverless 18 wheelers.
It gets a 10 on the stupid movie scale. -

Uh that is what i said 🙂

I’m not surprised to see the Davis partisans descend into cuckoo conspiracy theories and commence shrieking that objective truth has now become an outrageous smear campaign. What else was she going to do? Admit she massaged the facts of her biography to concoct a useful political narrative, and apologize to the millions of struggling single moms she pulled her stolen-honor routine on? “I realize most of you don’t swiftly land well-heeled husbands who put you up in a fine ‘historic’ house and cash out their 401k plans to put you through Harvard Law, but trust me, I understand exactly what you’re going through…”
-
nowhere near as hokey as Sharknado.
I think Sharknado may actually become an adjective to describe really hokey movies, as hokey really is no where near strong enough.
. . . . .on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being Sharknado, just how hokey was the movie? -
But Brother you watched it!!! 🙂
He was repulsed … but yet …. he could not look away.

I’d give it an 8, but keep in mind the Hokey Scale is exponential.

Wendy obviously has some Clintonian advisors helping her with clarifying mumblespeak to wash out the bunglespeak that failed. 🙂 It is amazing how many liberal/progressive columnists and reporters statewide are not so delicately retreating as full enablers of Wendy’s cause. Even the liberal national media are likewise asking pointed questions once they become aware of the details. They must be concluding that Wendy’s cause is becoming self-induced toxic and not at all heroic. Dreams of her as a Joan of Arc to lead Texas to blue-state status are fleeting as her supporters’ non sequitur attack rhetoric against Greg Abbott escalates. Wendy has arrived as a gift that keeps on giving to her opponents. Gad.

#41 SD: I think this quote is devastating to the pro-abortion crowd:
That case was Roe v. Wade and, along with its companion Doe v. Bolton, it legalized abortion in all 9 months of pregnancy, for any reason, in the United States.
Today, this 27 year-old is writing to you as a survivor of that decision. The undeniable fact is that nearly a third of my generation is missing.
We are missing brothers, sisters, cousins, friends, husbands and wives.
1/3 of a generation, ifn that ain’t an attempt at genocide then what the wiss is?

I’m thinking of voting in the Dem Primary. I know Gregg Abbott is going to be nominated as the Pubbie candidate for Gubna, so I’d like to cast my vote for any Dem candidate running against Abortion Barbie. It would be superschadenfruedistic if she didn’t even win the Primary.
The only thing holding me back is my intense desire to cast an ABC vote in the Republican Senate primary. -

Is Amazon Boy cleaning up the WaPo?
But when Klein proposed the creation of an independent, explanatory journalism website — with more than three dozen staffers and a multiyear budget north of $10 million — the Post said enough is enough. Indeed, Jeff Bezos, the Post’s new owner, and Katharine Weymouth, its publisher, never even offered an alternative figure, sources familiar with the negotiations said.
…
For Klein, the temptations of independence are as clear as the pitfalls. On the one hand, he’ll have more money, notoriety and editorial freedom, and, perhaps most appealingly, the opportunity to build a new business he can call his own. On the other, he’ll be threatened by the prospect of failure, of waking up one day without enough clicks and realizing he actually wasn’t bigger than The Washington Post.I’m betting on the other hand.

This snowstorm is the real thing. It’s not some lame little flurry of snowdust.
Some blithering idiot in front of a weathermap on TV just said we only had about 1 to 2 inches in my area of Bergen County.
So I went outside and took several readings and averaged them together.
I have 9″ on the ground in the front yard and another 7 hours of snowfall to go.
The worst part is the wind chill in the morning, when I have to go out and use the
snowblower, is supposed to be around minus 10 degrees. -
I know.
It was chilly when I let the dogs out this morning. Wind chill of about 55 degrees. -

Be careful out there. Those are frostbite/hypothermia temps. -
Their not only booger freezing in the nose temps, those are boogers so frozen they freeze you nose temps.

Betcha didn’t know that…
Born Kay Toinette Oslin on May 15, 1942, in Crossett, AR, she soon moved to Mobile, AL, and at age five settled in Houston after the death of her father. Oslin’s mother had been an aspiring country singer before being forced to support her family, and she passed along her love of music to her daughter. Oslin studied drama at junior college and during the ’60s performed in a folk trio with singer/songwriter Guy Clark and producer David Jones.

Betcha didn’t know that…
Well, no I didn’t know that, should I ? Never heard of Kay Toinette Oslin or KT or the horse she rode in on. Not wishing to be rude but was she ever somebody?

#76 Squawkster I’m not sure that I agree with rankings BUTT they got #1 right, Debbie Wasserman Skank is most certainly the winner.

K.T. Oslin was a very big deal in country music back in the 1980s. Her songs were constantly on all the country stations.
