On “60 Minutes” there was a segment on Amazon. During the news article, it was unveiled that Amazon is working on drone delivery for small packages.
I can see a lot of advantages to it. It will reduce the number of delivery vehicles and drivers, since it is estimated that many of the purchases are small enough to be drone delivered. It will be cheaper than the current system. An army of drones could reduce delivery time while it also provides amusement to the onlookers in the neighborhood. It will also provide lots of target practice for those who would want to steal your precious items.
It might also cause problems with UPS. Since they are unionized, I can see some friction over a system that will possibly take some of their jobs.
In our society, technological change is inevitable. It will be interesting to see how this all shakes out.
