I’ve always enjoyed Cosby’s comedy. I grew up with the Chicken Heart and my family kept replaying “Tonsils” just for me. So, this is long, but I’m sure that many of us can relate :

Please do not use the arrest of “gun rights activist” Adam Kokesh as a rallying point. Kokesh is a left wing agitator and has recently been “famous” for attempting to organize an “open carry march” on Washington DC. He has also been an instigator with the Veterans Against the Iraq War and other Left Wing organizations. His “march” was disavowed by the NRA and other Gun Rights organizations which have characterised it as a left wing provocation designed to make the Gun Rights movement look bad.
He is one of Alex Jones’ favorite little boys and is just the kind of guy the Media and the Left want folks to think of when they hear the words “Gun Rights Activist”, which is why he does what he does.

Just got back from Dr. B. He showed my sister and me the x-rays he took, and explained why my left hip gets so much grief. It seems that when my lower vertebrae were deciding what to do, the left side was rather indecisive and didn’t fuse with tailbone structure like it did on the right. It’s weaker than the right.
Therapy goals: (1) Get me better. (2) Lose some weight (like I hadn’t been trying – that’s one reason to go to regular doc next week). (3) Start physical therapy to strengthen core muscles in lower back and abdomen to help hold everything in place.
When you think about it, my physical ails aptly describe this country’s ails:
The right has a better structure, is more secure, did what it was supposed to do, and is doing most of the work (especially right now).
The left side couldn’t make up its mind to do what was needed, ended up with a crappy infrastructure, hurts the whole body with its misbehavior, and is dependent on the right to keep carrying the load.
Curing the problem is a combination of hard work and unloading the dead weight.
And the whole thing is a pain in the butt.

Last night we watched a couple of Bette Davis movies shown on cable (TMC). Now, Voyager was outstanding, prompting me to comment that they don’t make movies like they used to.
On the way home this evening I thought I would run into Wallyworld and pick up a movie DVD (to watch for my B’day)…a newer release for which I wouldn’t normally be willing to pay a premium price. There wasn’t a single recent film I wanted to see.

Tried not to do stuff, but my kitchen was a complete disaster. Feeling much better (not near perfect, mind you- just not crying or wincing constantly). I fought the urge to wash dishes, fought it, fought it, fought it – and lost. I did as much as I could from my little wheelchair, then propped myself on my crutches and washed the days-old plates and stuff. Since I have a double oven, I was able to put the flautas on a cookie sheet and into the lower oven from the chair. Corn w/tomatoes & green chilis in a pot – from the chair. Refried beans – from the chair. I did have to go vertical to retrieve some of the cans and put away some of the dishes, but about 85% of my efforts were from a sitting position. I put a load of laundry into the machine – from my chair. Handsome will have to get the clothes out.
So, yeah, I’m sitting on a cold pack nursing my hip, and I’ll be tossing some more aspirin or ibuprofen soon, but at least my kitchen isn’t driving me insane.
Men – what would they do if I disappeared? I shudder at how long it would take for them to learn how to take care of themselves…

Yeah, movies are no good anymore. I have 2 tickets to see any movie at Edwards Marq’E but nothing looks very interesting. I watched the trailer for a sci-fi monster movie called Pacific Rim, but it didn’t seem much better than Godzilla or Mothra. Of course, the FX is better but it is very melodramatic. Compares poorly to the Alien series which were very gritty. “Nuke the entire site from orbit–it’s the only way to be sure.” There are some upcoming artist documentaries, including Munch and Vermeer, either of which I would like to see. BUTTTT they are one-showing, evening events which means I would not be able to get David to go. Actually, he’s not too keen on a weekday matinee either.

Let’s just say Hubby is darn near comatose in the evening, especially during the hot months. He used to really be involved in maintaining the household years ago. Now, with a sink of soapy water staring at him, he puts the plates beside the sink. Yeah, it gets irritating. Some nights he’s more helpful than others.

Well, I don’t do dishwashers, they’re a waste of time, I wash everything in the sink. I do most of the cooking and by the time the meal is ready there isn’t a dirty pot/pan/dish in the kitchen. I wash up as I go, I do this because I’m lazy, I don’t want to have to do it later. When we get through eating my wife helps out if I’m there and I usually am and I wash the dishes in the sink. If left up to her she’ll hide them in the dishwasher and I’ll find them later. She knows how to LOAD a dishwasher but has NEVER UNLOADED one.

The son of a suburban Chicago man who figured prominently in the investigation of former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich has won a highly competitive White House internship.
Vinay Nayak, who is from Oak Brook and attends Yale University, is among 147 summer interns, according to a list released by the White House on Tuesday.
His father is Raghuveer Nayak, who was a fundraiser for the now-imprisoned Blagojevich.
Federal authorities, in making their case against Blagojevich, alleged it was the elder Nayak who offered to raise up to $6 million in campaign cash for the then-governor in exchange for appointing then-Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. to the Senate seat that opened in 2008 when Barack Obama won the White House.

You can’t do dishes and no one else will do them. A solution to the problem for at least dining dishes, use PAPER PLATES!!!! PLASTIC SILVERWARE!!!
If Dad and Justin complain, you tell them it’s simply because they won’t do dishes and you can’t. Until you get better or things change, it’s how it has to be.

Thanks for the good idea! I’ll remember that when I am about to have my knee surgery scheduled later this year: stock up on paper plates. Although my husband can and will load the dishwasher, he doesn’t do it quite right, so things don’t get quite clean, and he doesn’t believe in soaking or rinsing off first, so there is a high probability of having some lightweight plastic bowl be found flipped upright, full of water and grit.
How sweet of you to be ready-willing-and-able to help your mom at this time!
