Soldier Who Read Conservative Books Now Faces Charges

Master Sgt. Nathan Sommers, a decorated soloist with the Army Band, is being charged under a federal law that permits commanding officers to conduct non-judicial proceedings for minor offenses.
Sommers is accused of giving a superior officer the wrong date for a doctor’s appointment. He’s also accused of failing to carry out an order. In order to comply with that order, Sommers would have had to disclose private information about his autistic son’s medical records.
The charges were handed down one day after Sommers told Fox News that he was facing discrimination and persecution because of his conservative political and religious beliefs.
“The timing does seem strange,” retired Navy Commander John Bennett Wells told Fox News. “It’s suspicious. No matter what’s happening it looks like a graduated attempt to build a case against him on some really ridiculous charges.
Wells is representing the 25-year veteran who, until last summer, had a spotless record.
The Military District of Washington disputed allegations that Sommers had been reprimanded or disciplined.
“The Soldier is not, and never has been, ‘facing retribution and punishment from the military for having anti-Obama bumper stickers on his car, reading books written by conservative authors like Mark Levin and David Limbaugh, and serving Chick-fil-A sandwiches at his promotion party,’” Public Affairs Director Michelle Roberts told Fox News in a written statement.

While I do appreciate the notoriety, there are some discrepancies. I am not so sure that my name is Nathan Sommers. I have been known to exaggerate but truth be told i never made it to the rank of MSgt. i never played in the band. And I ain’t in the service and i am not facing charging.
In short I would check your link Tedtam. 🙂

Of course he isn’t. He’s probably facing retribution for his poltical donations just like everybody else.

Weird – I just saw a wisp of smoke and a burning smell. I screamed and jumped up, because it was right in front of my face and I thought something was burning in my lap. OH3 came over and we sniffed the keyboard and mouse, and looked all around my desk and saw nothing smoking or on fire.
Scary. I guess I have to shut everything down when I leave now, just to be safe. That means I can’t work remotely until I feel safe leaving my computer on again.

I have determined that it is impossible to watch FoxNews for more than 30 minutes without seeing Fred Freaking Thompson pimping AAG reverse mortgages. Every commercial break, every day for over a year. Do the advertisers have any concept of diminishing or negative marginal returns? Ditto that for progressive insurance and LaQuinta hotels; as far as I am concerned all the above mentioned businesses can go out of business for abuse of the tv audience.

I’ve been following with interest the recent disclosure of State Department folks soliciting prostitutes when they travel and so forth. I’m still confused though, because they make no mention of who the beneficiary(ies) of these solicitations were intended to be. For example, they seem to imply that some individuals might be conducting these solicitations for their own account, but no on ever asks if they might really be soliciting them for Hillary. Thus the only conclusion I can logically draw is that is who they were really for.

Re Libya, haven’t heard too much follow-up about Gaddaffi’s weapons since he was killed by Arab Springers. What do people like Hillary think the purpose of high office is? If you can’t do the job, why do they think they are there? Cabinet positions should not be “ceremonial” or “honorary”.

I can’t believe the TV station has broken into programming to inform us that the police were involved in a chase. By the time they went live, the chase was over, the cops were pulling the perp out of his car and dogpiling on him on the pavement, and cuffing him.

    Changes at PBS:

Along with sending our own teams in the field, we anticipate building new relationships with a variety of locally-based freelance video journalists around the country,” Winslow wrote to staff. “Under no circumstances do we intend to abandon the mini-documentary reports that have become so critical to our broadcast. The NewsHour remains committed to delivering the same kind of in-depth reporting our viewers and supporters expect from us.”

Freelancers, eh? Sounds like PBS is trying to avoid the ObamaCare they championed.

Are you talking to me?! Just kidding, OK, with modern springs, it will NOT loosen up until several thousand rounds, the spring that is. What kind of weapon is it? A straight “blow back” or a locked breech? Any blow back has a stronger spring than a locked breech but they are usually in the minor calibers, the only 9 MM blow back ever made, (that I know of) was the Spanish made Astra 400 and you had to be real pi$$ed off to rack the slide.
FWIW; Almost all 22’s are blow back, pistols and rifles.

I just read an amazing post to the FB Group for my subdivision. Written by the new president of the board, after the resignation of the b!tch I could not stand when I was prez, who took over after I left 1.5 yrs ago. There were 2 other resignations, but 3 homeowners have been recruited to step into the 3 vacancies. I hope to hear the details of what happened, and I hope it was a palace revolt. Nothing like this has happened in the 18 yrs I’ve lived here.
There has been no deed restriction enforcement for 1.5 yrs, or much of anything else done either. The area has started looking like Dogpatch.

I understand, HOA is not popular. I still have a photo of the house of a gal who lives on my block, taken when a metal gutter came loose on one end and was hanging down in the yard. With deed restrictions, that gutter was removed in about 2 weeks. W/O deed restrictions, I do believe the dangling gutter would still be there.
Those who want to have loose gutters hanging off the front of the house, should buy out in the countryside where maybe no one will care.

I was going through an old file tonight, and came across two of my evaluations from my period with a large consulting firm. One of them was glowing, where I “met expectations” occasionally amongst the “outstandings” and the “exceeds expectations,” and where my communication skills with my team members and clients was lauded on every page. My ability to juggle training my coworkers in their new language, documenting the help desk function, keeping my superiors updated on my status, learning new skills – these were repeatedly my best skills and the only criticism – that I expand my skill set – was there because my manager told me that she “had to find something critical to put into the report”.
Then there was the second one, where I met expectations often, exceeded occasionally, and had a few “needs improvement”. The criticisms included communicating appropriately with my team members and managing my time on the project. Of course, the major delay in the project was a hardware problem that the seniors on the project were trying for weeks to solve with software. I tried to tell them to get new computers to do what they wanted, but I was repeatedly ignored, so I went back to doing what I could do until they got their collective head out of their collective butt, and got the new computers. That was put into my evaluation as my fault, and for the first and only time in my life, I DEMANDED that it be removed.
Perhaps that was why the rest of the report was not so glowing.
