Sometimes, it’s just good to see a happy ending!
I will warn you, before you go following the link to the entire story, there’s a pretty shocking picture of Xena as she was when she was dumped. It’s not for the squeamish.
Xena was dumped after being starved and abused, and the staff didn’t think she’d survive. With a lot of attention, she began to thrive.
But that’s not the best part!
Xena, dubbed “the warrior puppy,” was adopted by a family with an autistic son. Johnny Hickey was not very communicative and had “space issues”. Those two immediately connected, and now Johnny talks all the time. The dog can often be found sitting in Johnny’s lap. Xena makes it easier for him to interact with society, enough so that he recently made the following video:
