The saga continues (and it’s spreading)
Meanwhile, this is what Cyprus’ attempt to do this has set up in New Zealand.
The National Government are pushing a Cyprus-style solution to bank failure in New Zealand which will see small depositors lose some of their savings to fund big bank bailouts, the Green Party said today.
Open Bank Resolution (OBR) is Finance Minister Bill English’s favoured option dealing with a major bank failure. If a bank fails under OBR, all depositors will have their savings reduced overnight to fund the bank’s bail out. Here we go folks.
Incidentally, it has been “suggested” that Italy should implement a 15% “tax” on its depositors as well.
Nothing you have that you cannot (or will not) stand in front of with a gun and defend is yours. If you’re either unable or unwilling to die to keep it the government will steal it to give your property to someone else, including someone else who did an irresponsible or even criminal thing. Why work if you don’t get to keep any of it and the amount you will have stolen will be retroactively determined after the fact?
And if you do, then decide whether you’re willing to defend your property with your life. If not then quit going to work because once again nothing is yours. Why work if you don’t get to keep any of it and the amount you will have stolen will retroactively determined after the fact?
Does this sound like a call for a General Strike on a global basis?
You’re damn straight it does — because it is. -
One may be able to beat a dead horse for a very long time, but nothing rivals the enduring stupidity of conventional wisdom.
Somebody remind Hamous to watch this when he gets back from his secret mission in Rome. -
Ace links to an RCP post that outlines the real impact of Cyprus like solutions to economic problems
But in showing us what they’ll do to an unsympathetic target, Europe’s leaders are showing us what they would like to do everywhere: dig themselves and the crony banks out of a tight spot through the mass confiscation of wealth. It’s the ultimate bailout plan: they just take whatever they need.
And there is more to it than that. This is confiscation, but it a particular kind of confiscation with particular implications. It is the end of deposit insurance. Depositors, particularly small depositors, are supposed to have an ironclad guarantee that their money will always be there, no matter what—that they won’t wake up one Monday morning to find that 6.75% of it is gone.
That’s why the Cyprus heist is really important. It is a warning that the whole system of deposit insurance is coming unglued. -
# 2 SD – I’m thinkin KS aint that green yet…………….
Yeh its a little early in the year for Kansas to green up. I lived in Wichita for almost 3 years and it is brown 10 months out of the year. Oddly enough, some of the greenest times is in the winter when they grow wheat. I used to make fairly regular trips to Olathe KS, up close to Kansas City and I had an old Rand Mc Nally Atlas with all the states in it. If a road was a scenic route, it had a dotted line beside it. I 35 from Emporia to Olathe was a scenic route and I thought, WTH there’s nothing scenic in Kansas. Then once I made that trip in April and although I’ve never been to Ireland, the landscape made me think of it. Emerald green rolling hills, horses and windmills, very pretty but only one month out of the year.
I should add that the sun flowers are pretty in the summer also, I have some great pictures of these. -
Wagonburner’s trek looks a lot like FM359 north of Brookshire.

Some have written quite eloquently about the beauty of the Central Plains, but if I had to live where one tree can serve as the only landmark in five hundred square miles I would soon go insane.
-
Good morning, Hamsterville. Pyro’s pix seem to have been taken on a different planet with lesser gravity. Everything looks tall and skinny. I’ll guess Kalathian 4.
-
Wagonburner’s pics don’t show up on my phone, so based on Sarge’s description I’ll guess “Western Waller County”.

I need at least two trees. Spaced about 12-15 feet apart. Greater than 4″ diameter. -

Close enough.
FM2855 / FM529 north of Katy. We’re building a new plant on US90 near FM2855. -
#11 – Agreed – it could be – I’ve run that stretch hundreds of times – but no businesses out there (except maybe Repka’s crawfish joint)

I’d think you’d want a few more for decoy trees.
Don’t think I’d wanna be sleeping under the only trees in a 50-mile radius.
Bird magnet.
Just sayin’ -

The pictures did not show up on the wife’s Ipad earlier this morning. If I tapped the box where the pic was supposed to be, it did open up in a new window and I was able to view it. Before that I accidentally went to hamous.com and was redirected to domain registration site. Believe it or not hamous.com is for sale for the low low price of $1,798!?! Some outfit out of Denver is squatting on the domain name. Does anyone have any idea why?

Listening to KSEV. Russell has won a bet with Edd. TBO had the time in his busy schedule to come up with his basketball brackets on ESPN.
Edd is dumbfounded at the arrogance of the man. He thought that TBO would at least keep up the appearance that he was trying to fix the economy, etc. -

It’s the popularity of gay bears, beds, show tunes, clown suits, and rainbow farting unicorns.

Good morning Hamsters. Doing the Snoopy Happy Dance this first day of Spring because we got a whole quarter inch of rain this morning. Some of the storms actually passed over us this time. Of course the sprinkler system was on earlier, you know, belt and suspenders caution. Beautiful emerald green lawn and pastures glinting with droplets in the Sun. Down to 51 in the storm, and a good day is ahead. Thank you, Lord.

I am also grateful for the rain, because is washed the pollen out of the air, in addition to nourishing the plant life.

Adee- We got an inch in North Sugar Land.
Oletimer, I didn’t know we live that close to each other. I have always used Adee’s weather stats even though she is about 8 miles away… which of course means the difference between a gully washer and not even a drop.
-
Also North Sugar Land = the other side of the tracks. Very little of the city’s population lives north of Hwy 90A and I have always gotten the impression that we are low on the totem pole.

HEADLINE:Backup presidential limo on its way for Obama in Israel after fuel filling failure
One of the limousines in Barack Obama’s fleet has broken after reports that it was mistakenly filled with the wrong fuel at the start of the US president’s visit to Israel.
Another limo is on its way from Jordan, according to Ma’an News agency, citing Israel’s Channel 10, to replace one that was filled with diesel instead of gasolene.snort, giggle, BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAH, gasp for breath, BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

This is why you always deploy your tarp.
Strung up betwixt the only trees for 50 miles makes it look like it has the plague or “tarp pox” or sumptin. Character, yeah that’s it.

More from the “you just can’t make this stuff up” department:
Tree Obama gifted to Israel ‘dug up’ by order of agriculture ministry
Israeli news website reports that the tree bypassed checks required on plants coming into the country from abroadThe SOB KNEW this was going to be the case but he insisted on the ceremony with Shimon Perez anyway. Does he really think this charade is going to fool anybody except the pmsnbc types?

Oh and about Kansas, the state tree is a light pole and the state bird is a fly.

Yes it was a magnificent day that makes Texas in Spring absolute God’s country. Thank you, Lord.
Haven’t been out driving to look at the bluebonnets yet. Need to make a pilgrimage up to Brenham and Independence soon, probably better on a weekday than weekend.
The roadside pics look like FM 359 on the way to Hempstead. -

I wonder when the VMG will understand the utter incompetence of the JugEars admin, and that of the LSM that covers for them? Can you imagine the guffaws of derision that would be coming from the left if this was the Rmoney admin that made the same mistake? But what do we hear from the non FoxDrudgeBreitbart media, yeah that’s it.

Funny class moment from tonight:
We were reenacting the betrayal of Jesus, his appearance before Pilate, etc. I had several students acting out the different parts, with one of them playing the part of “Sanhedrin”. I had already discussed how the Jews in power were upset because Jesus’ new law of “love God and love one another” was a threat to their power, and how Pilate was caught between the two factions of Jews v. Jesus, while trying to keep Caesar happy as well.
So “Sanhedrin” brought “Jesus” to “Pilate”.
I urged “Sanhedrin” by saying “Try to convince him to kill Jesus for you!”
The response?
He looked at Pilate, lowered his head slightly, and said in a low voice “You! You must come to the Dark Side!”
I love my class! -
It was a beautiful day today. I had a belly full of my “professional grade” TroyBuilt weedeater powerhead. The POS never ran well and after it warmed up it would not run at all; after 6 months I threw in the towel and bought a Husquvarna. It idles smoothly right out of the box and never missed a beat.
I will send an email to Troy Built tomorrow telling them of my opinion of their crappy product. Note to all: DO NOT BUY A TROY BUILT PRODUCT BECAUSE THEY SUCK! -
I love my Echo weed eater and chain saw, they fire up everytime. Even if I forget to winterize – you know a mechanic has the most neglected equipment on the block.

Me, I like the Black & Decker electric tools. But I admit they are girly tools. Lightweight and I don’t like messing with gasoline. I think I have the whole B&D -Hog series: the Grass-Hog edger/trimmer, the Hedge-Hog trimmer, and ? – that’s all I can remember at the moment. I just hope I am able to use them this summer. I am not willing to concede decrepitude and hire a lawn service, not yet, not until it is abundantly clear that I just can’t do it any longer.
