    It’s not the load that breaks you down…it’s the way you carry it.
    Time is the most valuable commodity we have, it is so valuable that it only given to us moment by moment.
    If you are over committed, things begin to fall apart. I try to be reasonable in the expectations I place on myself so that I can efficiently use my time and still have enough time to relax and enjoy the day.
    All of life is a fluctuation between effort and rest. You need both every day. There are days when you are called on for much effort and then comes a time when you need much rest. It is not good to rest too long and it is not good to carry on great effort too long without rest.
    Success is a proper balance between the two.

    Mharper – thanks for the heads up on the GoFundMe balance. I haven’t looked at it since my last mention of it, and since I see my help most workdays, I get my updates on her condition from her. The generosity of others is amazing, and it certainly is helping her out. If I had known how much trouble the original gift to get the extraction was going to cause, I don’t know if I would have done it.
    But then, I’d have to hear about her constant infections, too, so I guess I would have. Either way, she was dealing with infections. Hopefully, once this is done, she’ll be finished forever with these problems.
    Thanks, and thanks again, to all those who have donated to help her out. God bless you all!

    Hubby asked me a specific tire place, across from one of our favorite diners. He couldn’t remember the name of it, and I was having a hard time locating it. I thought I was going to have to drive to the diner and look around – and then I remembered that Google maps had street view! Saved me a lot of time.

    I can see how this is vaguely connected to your family business, but — Tires? Diner?

  9. Tedtam Avatar

    The “kidneys” comes from an Aggie joke (one of my kids’ favorites):
    An Aggie, a t-sip, and a Baylor grad were all three applying for a job, and were all in a waiting room awaiting their final interview. The manager came out and told the three of them that the decision was tough, but that he would interview them one by one, and when done, they were to return to the waiting room for his decision.
    The first to be called to the manager’s office was the t-sip. “Okay, I’m going to call out a body part, and I want you to point to it,” the manager said.
    “Nose,” the manager said. The t-sip pointed to his chin.
    “Eye.” ->cheek
    “Ear.” ->nose
    “Forehead.” ->ear
    “Chin.” -> eye
    “Okay, thank you,” the manager said, “Please send the the Baylor grad next.” In comes the applicant, who was given the same instructions.
    “Nose.” -> eye
    “Chin.” -> nose
    “Cheek.” -> chin
    “Ear.” ->cheek
    “Eye.” ->forehead
    Next was the Aggie:
    “Chin.” -> chin
    “Cheek.” -> cheek
    “Nose.” -> nose
    “Eye.” -> eye
    “Forehead.” -> forehead
    “Okay, please join the others, I’ll be right out.” The Aggie went back to the waiting room, followed closely by the manager. “We’ll be hiring the Aggie, but I want to thank all of you for your time.” He left.
    The other two gathered around the smiling Aggie. “How’d you pass that test?” they asked, “it was HARD!” The Aggie merely tapped his temple and said “Kidneys, man, kidneys!”

    Democrat National Convention Honors Jihadist Muslims
    Starting at the end of this month the Democratic National Convention will open with a focus on Islam.
    …If that is who the DNC is consorting with then all Americans, Democrats should be concerned. There are many patriotic Muslims who are part of both parties, and when radical ideologues like this do a demonstration of “solidarity” in the name of our faith and choose an imam like Siraj Wahhaj who I saw with my own eyes in 1995 seditiously say it his duty and our duty as Muslims to replace the US Constitution with the Quran

    The idea was to have a group outing in the hottest weather as a challenge to those up north who do them in the coldest. To quote from the planning thread:

    This winter we were shown pictures and video of bearded men swathed in many layers of down and fleece, hunched over fires and entombed in hammocks engulfed by top and underquilts of fearsome dimensions. We watched as they spoke to us from within them as condensaton rose from thier ashen faces, frost bibs secured around their necks, trumpeting their acheivement in defying sub zero temperatures merely by the clever use of fabric.
    It is time that we, Men Of The South, Men Of TEXAS! show them true adventure! We shall show them that the greater feat is in surviving temperatures that can be defied only by enduring them! We cannot take off enough clothing or sleep gear to protect us from the vicissitudes of weather that WE face!
    Imagine pictures and video of hardy men, sweat glistening off of thier bodies, cheerily hoisting flagons of iced tea with nothing but a pair of Ray Bans and cargo shorts to protect themselves from the sunlight! Imagine the awe with which they will view us and the glory that will be ours!!

When pressed on the matter by Hannity who asked (paraphrased as I did not write down the exact quote), “if you staying in the party hurts RMoney/Ryan in Missouri and you do not win the seat and that seat causes the senate to stay in D control how will you feel?” The response was something like “Well obviously I would feel bad but I don’t think that is going to happen, I am standing on principle and the people of Ms.. . . .yada yada.” The dude needs to realize that we are not playing on a level field and the Ds and the LSM (but I repeat myself) will make the mis-statement the central theme of the campaign and attempt to tar the entire party with that brush.

    It is well documented that women’s bodies shut down due to stress.

    In order to combat the moon-bats we need links to those documented studies. Limbaugh stated today that this belief is not grounded in fact and he pointed to all the pregnancies that resulted from rape during war time as evidence. While I am much more on the side that the trauma and emotional distress associated with a violent rape (as opposed to the woman merely changing her mind the next day, which somehow is a legit claim in Sweden) will likely prevent conception, I need to see the studies to be sure. What seems reasonable is not always factually correct.

    “This is the first study to find that a biological measure of stress is associated with a woman’s chances of becoming pregnant that month,” explains Dr. Cecilia Pyper of the National Perinatal Epidemiology Unit at the University of Oxford.
    “We looked at a group of healthy women aged between 18 and 40 who were all planning a pregnancy. We found that those women with high levels of a marker for stress were less likely to succeed in conceiving. The findings support the idea that couples should aim to stay as relaxed as they can about trying for a baby. In some people’s cases, it might be relevant to look at relaxation techniques, counselling and even approaches like yoga and meditation,” Dr. Pyper says.

    Stress & Trying to Conceive – A Hormonal Connection?
    When you’re experiencing stress, your body feels the pressure physically as much as emotionally. This causes many internal organs to work harder than normal and can put chemical production in your body on overdrive, even effecting hormone output. In some women, this might interfere with the normal ovulation cycle, temporarily delaying or even inhibiting egg release – which can negatively impact their ability to conceive.
    Read more: http://www.justmommies.com/articles/stress-trying-to-conceive.shtml#ixzz24Dr2GaRR

    And WebMD

    Stress is almost universal. Whether from a single situation or you find yourself stressed out by work, family, relationships…Stress can’t be avoided. Certainly, stress can take its toll on your body, both physically and emotionally. And research shows that there are levels of certain hormones that vary when people are under stress. But can these emotional and physical changes affect your ability to conceive?
    Most often, the answer is probably not. Yet, extreme amounts of stress can result in unpredictable or absent ovulation. But there really is no medical literature supporting the theory that stress causes infertility.

    Think about the timing. If a woman is generally stressed out, she may be unable to conceive. A sudden violent event such as forcible rape is not really comparable to general longterm stress. Representative King wasn’t aware that rape result in pregnancies either.

    King told an Iowa reporter he’s never heard of a child getting pregnant from statutory rape or incest.
    “Well I just haven’t heard of that being a circumstance that’s been brought to me in any personal way,” King told KMEG-TV Monday, “and I’d be open to discussion about that subject matter.”

    Raw Story thinks they have discovered the origin of this knucklehead’s belief in this legitimate rape thing.

    But it was Mecklenburg’s presumption that a traumatized rape victim “will not ovulate even if she is ‘scheduled’ to” that appeared to be the basis of Akin’s recent remarks.
    To support his conclusion, Mecklenburg cited studies that were allegedly done at extermination camps in Nazi Germany.
    Nazis reportedly tested the theory “by selecting women who were about to ovulate and sending them to the gas chambers, only to bring them back after their realistic mock-killing, to see what the effect this had on their ovulatory patterns. An extremely high percentage of these women did not ovulate,” the article said.

    Your linked story about King is utterly irrelevant. Yawn…
    Call back when you have resolved this:

    While Rep. Kerry Gauthier, 56, will lose support from fellow Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party members if he continues with his campaign, party leaders stopped short Monday of asking him to immediately resign.
    The first-term legislator wasn’t charged in the alleged July 22 encounter because the legal age of consent in Minnesota is 16 and no money was exchanged, according to the St. Louis County attorney’s office. Police say the two had oral sex behind a rest stop pavilion in Duluth after the teen responded to Gauthier’s Craigslist ad looking for a “no strings attached” sex.
    Police reports made public last week say Gauthier came clean about the rest stop rendezvous.
    The teen reportedly told officials that Gauthier was a stranger and he lied to the unmarried lawmaker when he said he was 18 years old.
    Troopers were alerted to the alleged incident by a woman at the rest stop who was complaining about a male urinating on her car.
    Trooper Scott Parker wrote in a report that he came across another man — later identified as Gauthier — behind a rest area building, the Duluth News Tribune reported.
    “It was at that time I noted his zipper was open and part of his shirt was hanging out. I asked him why his zipper was down and he said he didn’t know,” Parker wrote. “I told him to zip it up and leave. The male seemed nervous.”

    And one more story about male logic and women’s bodies.
    It’s no secret that I lived in Saudi Arabia for 8+ years assisting the Royal Saudi Air Force with F-15 avionics maintenance support.
    One evening I had a discussion with a Saudi friend about female genital mutilation, it was called excision then. This practice is common in some muslim cultures and they have a reason. “You see”, my friend said, “God made women the way he did. And the way he made them is that whenever they walk they become excited and cannot help themselves from luring men. Excision is a way of preventing that from happening and permit women to be the chaste creatures that God intended.”
    What men had logically deduced was that with female plumbing arranged along the saggital plane, walking caused friction to occur at the nexus point where the legs joined together.
    While he did not believe that and was proud that his three girls had not been exposed to this ignorant practice, he was clear that practitioners were merely misguided but their heart was in the right place. The practice would disappear, he said, with education.
    I see this legitimate rape thing in the same light, but yet it persists.

    #88 Texpat, Yanno’ what is REAL SAD is that all the DemocRATes, like or resident Troll has absolutely NOO problem with the nasty, disgusting behavior of the “Honorable Rep. Kerry Gauthier” because, who are we to judge? THEN makes a BIG deal about an idiot that said something stupid and of course thats serious stuff, may bring down the Republic.

    Oh no, Dave and Texpat, this is a little bit more fundamental than some some sleazy lechery in a park.
    Akins said what he said and folks are lining up, like Family Research Council and American Family Association in support of his beliefs or against them.
    I’ve picked my side, I’m standing with Cornyn and Romney.

    Speaking of sleeze.
    The Golden Nugget is suing winners at its Atlantic City Casino because the Casino failed to shuffle new decks of cards before using them. Eventually the players caught on and won $1.5M.

    At first, it seemed like a coincidence, the kind of thing that happens from time to time at a casino, where the same number or same sequence of cards happens twice in a row.
    But when the players at an April game of mini-baccarat at the Golden Nugget Atlantic City kept seeing the same sequence of cards dealt, over and over and over again, their eyes grew wide and their bets grew bigger, zooming from $10 a hand to $5,000.

    Apparently Minnesota has got quite the reputation for this kind of thing.

    Former Republican U.S. Sen. Larry Craig aims to fend off a federal election lawsuit against him by arguing his infamous July 11, 2007, Minneapolis airport bathroom visit that ended in his sex-sting arrest was part of his official Senate business.

    Akin’s big mistake is that he qualified degrees of rape. Rape is Rape. That over shadowed his decision to do the interview in the first place. I applaud him for his PRO-LIFE stance but boy was he dumb. If you are going to get flamed, get flamed for the good fight.
    Should he just go away? It looks like he says he ain’t so ……………on to November.

    I plan on being topless all day.

    I suspect National Go Topless Day on August 26 will be celebrated the usual way people celebrate things like National Go Topless Day, which is that the only people who will go topless will be those you would rather keep their shirts on.

    That would be awkward, what with Romney/Ryan supporting abortion in instances of rape and Ryan supporting abortion to save the mother’s life.

    “Governor Romney and Congressman Ryan disagree with Mr. Akin’s statement, and a Romney-Ryan administration would not oppose abortion in instances of rape,” Andrea Saul, a Romney spokesperson, told The Huffington Post.
