There were a lot of comments about testicular items last night, Ft. Sill gate notwithstanding, so I thought today would be a potpourri on testicular fortitude:
This was rather disappointing. I mean, to have a website name “Fortress of Testicular Fortitude” and then…that?! I can see why they are no longer blogging at that site.
And we all know that when it comes to TF, Hillary gots it. It’s well known. Of course, with all those testicles in her lockbox, that doesn’t surprise me.
And since Hillary’s got all that TF locked up, there’s a good reason why the GOP doesn’t have enough.
And speaking of testicles, Mike Rowe knows more about them now than he ever planned. Here’s his TED talk, which impressed me muchly.
And talking about men loaded with TF, how’s about this guy? Taking on the Chinese Army? I hope he got a chance to breed before he did this.
And Hillary’s not the only woman with big ones. How’s about a little bus history?
And if you want to read about some real manly men, you can go here. But only if rough language doesn’t offend you. Because this article is not only loaded with manly men doing manly things, the author has to speak in a manly fashion, as well. It is not safe for work. Well, for most work places.
And how about you? Do you have it? Check yourself out. No! Put away that mirror! /sheesh

My mind’s been racing with events here the past few days. I’ve come to the conclusion that in the long run it’s better that I refrain for posting here until after the elections. I’ve decided to do what’s in my power to do and remove myself as a variable in the contentious back and forths which have occurred in large part because of me. I do not desire such fighting and I absolutely do not want to use Hamous’ site to be cruel and so contentious with anyone. Especially not over politics.
Hamous, you probably still do not want to hear an apology bit I offer you one more regardless. I am sorry for reving you up the way I did and disrespecting your website by doing it. I know you’re excerting self restrain since yesterday and I sense a lot of it. Thank you for allowing my on your blog. I want you to enjoy it and for it to be a pleasent thought to you.
Sarge. I sought an apology from you as well which is why my original apology was shoddy and was delivered half baked. Truth be told I am really sorry for disrespecting and denigrating your faith. You’re a good man and I’m sure in many ways which I do not know about. And that goes beyond you presenting some of the coolest hammocks I the world. Keep up the faith, my friend.
Texmo, the baby’s fine as is Mrs. Darren. He’s due in October but I think momma hen’s gonna lay her egg next month. At least I hope so so long as the baby’s born healthy. Thank you for asking about Mrs. Darren and the baby yesterday. I appreciate that.

Sweetie is in Memphis this week for Elvis Week with a good friend of hers from Indiana, yesterday they took a little road trip to Tupelo, Ms. On their way back her friend got a call that her 30 yr old son had shot and killed himself. Hearing the news her friend’s emotions went out of control, she was trying to jump out of the car, my wife pulled into a McDonalds parking lot, the friend got out running and screaming, several employees of the McDonalds came out to help bringing her water and trying to comfort. The manager called the restaurant owner who is a pilot and has a plane, 4 hours from the horrific phone call, her friend was at home in Indiana- a 9 hour drive away.
Such unthinkable tragedy yet tremendous goodness from our fellow man, it’s hard what to make of it. But His guiding hand was there for all to see. -
dang.
How’s Sweetie? -
She is handling it well, better than I would have figured. Her friend made her promise she would stay and continue with the plans for the week and she is.

In the Nutmeg State (I should stop right there, shouldn’t I?) Tea Party favorite Linda McMahon easily won her primary to run for Senator to represent a state named after a spice used to make bad grilled cheese sammiches.
She had two opponents, one who had a very wiered campaign and longtime Establishment reprobate Christopher Shays. As the campaign wore on and it was becoming obvious that even in Conneticutt, moderates are becoming persona non grata and he reverrted to a campaign style that Tea Partiers will find familiar. As the polls have drifted more and more towards McMahon, Shays’s campaign has devolved into a series of “look-at-me” campaign gimmicks generally reserved for small-time candidates who have nothing else to get them noticed.
He has grown vulgar on the campaign trail, labeling McMahon’s strategy “bulls**t” and saying people tell him “I want my f***ing country back.” He ran a web video in which he attacked McMahon for also seeking the Independent Party ballot line (something that is standard practice in states where candidates can be endorsed by more than one party), and has said he will not support McMahon in the general election.
“I have never run against an opponent that I have respected less — ever — and there are a lot of candidates I have run against,” Shays said. -
The true thoughtfulness and concern from total strangers was uplifting. Maybe we’re not doomed.

I am struck by how God directed Sweetie’s car to a place with a guy who has an airplane and was willing to fly her home.

Actually, the nutmeg was a potential add-in to a cheese sauce for vegetables, not for a GCS.
At least my GCS’s are actually grilled and not some kind of irradiated mutant cheeze pop-tart abomination. -

The numbing shock and sorrow for the family and close friends is beyond description. Blessings upon your dear wife for her actions to help her friend in the first terrible hour and for carrying out her friend’s wish to continue the trip as planned. Blessings upon the McDonalds staff and manager for their kindness and aid.

I had a nephew do that when he was 13, sad anniversary is right around the corner. The emotional devastation on those left behind is immense. One can never really know the emotional pain one is experiencing to cause them to commit such an act.
I heard someone speak of the drug extacy (or how every it is spelled) and how after a Friday through Sunday binge, all the dopamine, seratonin, and other “feel good” brain chemical stores are completely exhausted. The following Monday is sometimes referred to as suicide-Monday because of the crushing depression that follows. There is no evidence that my nephew ever had any drug issues whatsoever, but something was eating at him and he saw no way out, tragic.
Mental illness has a bad stigma attached to it, in many cases it is simply a chemical imbalance in the brain – a medical condition not unlike diabetes – but with dramatically different symptoms.

OK, it might get me struck by lightning, but I just heard a news report about Horshack’s dying. It went something like this:
“Pallillo died as a result of a heart attack. He played Horshack on Welome Back Kotter.”
It was then followed by an audio clip of Horshack doing his famous “hand in the air call on me” schtick:
“Ooo—-ooo-ooo—ooo-ooo” -

I really hope Barry keeps this moron on the ticket:
Biden took a race card from the deck of Team Obama 2012, and stuck that race card to the tip of his shoe, and then slammed the whole darn thing into his mouth so hard that it must have scraped off half of the vice presidential taste buds.
“Look at what they value and look at their budget and what they’re proposing,” Biden said of the Republicans at a campaign stop in Danville, Va. “Romney wants to let the — he said in the first 100 days he’s going to let the big banks once again write their own rules.”
Then it happened. Biden began waving his right hand, palm up, and he adopted what he must have thought was the accent of a black minister.
“Unchain Wall Street,” said Preacher Joe, reaching to the heavens, “They’re going to put y’all back in chains.”
Y’all.
Is that how people in Delaware talk? Or is it how white Democratic politicians speak when they’re using dialect to talk down to black voters? What’s next, Preacher Joe? Spirituals? Or are you going to carry around copies of “A Raisin in the Sun” and “To Kill a Mockingbird”?I don’t know if any of you saw this speech but Smokin’ Joe tried to pull off a MLK “I have a dream” type speech. It was simultaneously hilarious and profoundly sad.

This is nothing but a full out threat of violence on innocent people. Where is the inJustice department, dya think they will even attempt to defend against the threat, or prosecute the miscreants who may even show up to cause trouble? Can you say “hate crimes” and does that apply equally to blacks as it does to whites?
This is a bloody mess just waiting to happen. If there ever was a case where JugEars should make a statement and diffuse a volatile situation it is this one. I seriously doubt he will say a word about it before the R convention and further, if there is violence, he will blame it on the Rs. -

Regarding the suicide – my neighbors who used to live across the street lost their son by hanging. They came home to find him in their garage, and there may have been evidence that he tried to change his mind, but it was too late. We also suffered a suicide of a young man, son to a very active youth ministry worker at our church, on Easter. I actually met him on Holy Saturday for the first – and last – time. He seemed like a nice young man, but I didn’t get to spend much time with him, as I was preparing flower arrangements for the holy season. He left the Easter vigil early, so his mother found him after she arrived home from church.
The neighbors had a hard time getting over it. My friend at church was hurt, of course, but she had a faith in God that helped her get through.
It is hard to think of finding my child that way, and that being the last image I have of them.
My heart goes out to all the mothers and fathers who have lost children. My God grant them peace and comfort. -

Darren, I think that is a wise decision. I come at this from a completely different angle than you, but I think I know what you’re getting at here. For me, I have enough turmoil in my life that I can’t see any positive outcome from arguing on the internet with people about something over which we have essentially no real control over. So anyway, God bless ya and enjoy the time with your family doing things that matter.

Philip Sublett nominates Sam Houston for president of the Republic of Texas
August 15, 1836
On this day in 1836, Philip Sublett nominated Sam Houston for president of the Republic of Texas. Sublett, a Kentucky native, had participated in the battle of Nacogdoches in 1832 and was a delegate to the conventions of 1832 and 1833. In 1835 he was elected chairman of the San Augustine Committee of Safety and Correspondence. On October 6 he submitted a resolution appointing Houston commander-in-chief of the forces of San Augustine and Nacogdoches until the Consultation should meet. Sublett was commissioned lieutenant colonel in October and in December 1835 was present at the siege of Bexar. He returned to his farm east of San Augustine after the battle of Concepción. Sam Houston resided in Sublett’s home while recuperating from wounds received at San Jacinto. Sublett died in San Augustine on February 25, 1850. -

First Feast of the Assumption celebrated in Praha
August 15, 1855
On this day in 1855, the first Feast of the Assumption celebration was held in the small Czech community that was renamed Praha three years later. Praha, in southern Fayette County, was originally known as Mulberry and Hottentot. During the mid-1850s a Bohemian immigrant named Mathias Novak came to the region. Other Bohemian immigrants followed, and in 1858 the Bohemian settlers changed the town’s name to Praha in honor of Prague, the capital of their homeland. In 1865 Joseph Bithowski, a Bernardine father, built a small frame church in the town. An annual celebration of the Feast of the Assumption on August 15 attracts more than 5,000 visitors, many of them Czechoslovakian. Mass is celebrated in the historic church, with its extraordinary interior painted by Godfrey Flury, Czech food is served, and Texas Czech bands play throughout the evening. -

#49 Hammie: from the comments in your linkie:
Palin has done the right thing. Any suggestion that she provides to the democrats will be ridiculed, so Biden will stay and do more damage to an already failing Obama reelection campaign. This is a possible scenario that Hillary would welcome but only for the opportunity to decline. Remember, this isn’t grandfathers democrat party, this is the total liberal progressive version. If you owned a large business and needed a CEO to lead it, would you even consider for a moment hiring Obama or Biden?
The Ds are cast in stone that Palin is an idiot, therefore they can not (most likely will not) now replace HairPlugs with Hitlery as that would be actually agreeing with Palin. That JugEars has kept the imbecile Joe in the VP spot is a testament to his own fragile ego, he must appear smarter than the VP. Others refer to it as assassination insurance because everybody knows that HairPlugs is an idiotic buffoon.
Consider the contrast with Romney and Ryan; no one believes that Ryan is anything other than extremely intelligent with an intellectual vice-like grip on the essentials of governmental and economic affairs. The intellectual/emotional/administrative difference in the two men, Obama and Romney, is starkly revealed in their choice of VP. -

“A real man is a leader who can make decisions: A lot of women won’t admit this, but most of them absolutely hate being the one who makes the decisions in a relationship.”
Well yes they do but it kind of works like this:
She: Do you think we should go with the red curtains or the yellow ones?
He: We should get the red ones.
She: Are you crazy? I hate the red ones. They clash with everything in the house. I am not living with red curtains in the kitchen!
He: Oh. The yellow ones then.
She: Thank you honey. I just couldn’t make up my mind. -
Well, at least they’re letting them out of the kitchen.
I wonder if they’ll have beefcake calendars on their walls? heh heh heh -
From my previous post:
Maybe women should “flock to them, close the doors, and refuse to leave until the kingdom’s rulers understand just what it is like to live without women.”
And when that happens, maybe the men’ll give ‘me more freedom in their “regular” societies, or maybe the women will give the men the Islamic middle finger and do their own thing.
I wonder if the Muslim male has the testicular fortitude to do without his woman? Will he unleash his sexual frustration and pale male ego in jihad? Or will they lasso the women and drag them back into the kitchen and bedroom?
This is gonna be interesting. -

Palin wasn’t selected because she was in any way qualified. McCain needed a down home fundie to energize a base that was clearly not excited about him, and viewed him as an overly moderate “RINO.”
I think it’s objective to say that Palin is an idiot. It’s safe to say that dems would not reject the idea of Hillary as veep simply because Caribou Barbie stumbled upon a perfectly rational speculation for a change. I had been wondering about that too, as have others. Biden is certainly a buffoon, not to mention a former drug warrior (and therefore a professional liar) but what’s new, right?
I think Hillary would be a stronger candidate, and her presence on the ticket would motivate Vaginal-Americans in the VMG that perceive there to be a war on women waged by paternalistic social conservative (state and national) republican congressmen.
I think Obama will probably win regardless of veep. -
#65 Bob
I think it’s objective to say that Palin is an idiot.
I think that should read that it’s YOUR objective to say that Palin is an idiot. She managed to do a lot of good stuff in Alaska, clearing some of the corruption, even in her own party. That had to be difficult on so many levels. She managed to win elections all the way up to governor, and as far as I know, she never had her opponent’s sealed divorce records unsealed in order to make the opponent drop out of the race. She got the oil companies to relinquish some of their leases or start drilling. And she negotiated a pipeline deal.
Nah, she’s an idiot. And Obama is a wissin’ genius. -
I think it’s objective to say that Palin is an idiot.
Quite possibly the most arrogant and idiotic thing I have ever read.

A great example of TF – from another woman. Good on her:
“I don’t think American taxpayers should be footing the bill for people’s pie purchases,” said Andrea Taber, proprietor of the Ever So Humble Pie Co. in Walpole, who peddles her wares at the Braintree market on Fridays and now finds herself in the middle of the state’s raging fight over welfare benefits.
“To me it’s no different than nail salons and Lottery tickets,” Taber said. “It’s pastry, it’s dessert. My pies are great, but come on.”
/snip
“I know it’s been a struggle for you to accept this program but we really need to work something out,” Ingemanson emailed back the same day. “Other markets make it mandatory to sign on to these programs and my guess is that it will be for us soon. … In fact, you’re the only one who is resistant to the idea.”
Ingemanson told the Herald that in light of Taber’s resistance, the farmers market management will consider during the winter whether to require all vendors to accept EBT payment next year.
“If that’s the case, I’ll take my leave,” Taber told the Herald. “I’m not going to sacrifice my principles and standards for the sake of a few more sales.”
Ingemanson said she’s hopeful they can work something out, but that Taber is launching a one-woman protest. -

#74 Texanadian: Ethanol made from corn is properly consumed in the form of BOURBON! The ethanol mandate is nothing but a D payoff/bribe to get corn farmers to vote for them. It is not a renewable fuel source as it takes 2 gals of diesel to get 1 gal of ethanol into the gas tank. One of the comments mentioned that ethanol was mandated to replace MTBE, which is a known environmental toxin. The MTBE was needed at the time when the overwhelming majority of cars still used carburators instead of computer controlled fuel injection and spark control. Ethanol replaced MTBE and bribed the corn farmers. The newer car technology has eliminated the need for the additional oxydizer as the cars now produce 99% fewer emissions than what was produced in 1970, by virtue of constantly monitoring and adjusting the fuel/air mix and spark timing.
Bottom line, ethanol in gasoline is a boondoggle of “Madoff” proportions. -
Spending the rest of their lives in prison is not enough

I remember seeing Mr Sea Gull’s cryptic message and trying to make sense of it. I could not and it may be because he was using some other font to make his dashes.
In any case …I am still active on CW from time to time and it is a shame that the Morse Code Requirement was dropped. CW (continuous wave) will get out when voice (AM or SSB) cannot and it is amazing what you can do with a small transmitter.
My Pops and I made my first transmitter on the kitchen table using a 6L6 Tetrode Vacumn Tube and coils wound around pill bottles. We mounnted the components on an old biscuit pan. I had a cousin who worked on Marine Radios and he gave me some crystals which I “ground” to the right frequency for the novice 80 meter band. My receiver was an old Hallicrafters tabletop tube radio that I added a BFO to so I could receive CW. It was the greatest fun working contacts on 80 meters late at night.

You still wanna keep peddling the notion that people who disagree about legalizing Gay Marraige are doing it out of hatred and a desire to take away people’s rights? -
#98 Sarge
Why? Why??????????????? -
Freakin SIGH
Palin wasn’t selected because she was in any way qualified.
It seems to me that Ms. Palin was more than qualified to be the VEEP.
Qualifications for office of the POTUS and VEEP
No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.
Now Bobo that you have been properly schooled that Ms. Palin by the rules set fourth and established by our fore fathers in that little piece of paper called the Constitution, ………. wait you do remember hearing about those guys in school don’t ya? Oh wait again….. rules we don’t need no steenkin rules. Never mind -
#98 I don’t “peddle” anything, and I’ve often stated that the motivation for the current discriminatory treatment of that minority is largely political, not hate based, despite the cowardly rationalization of “love the sinner, hate the sin” that many use to excuse themselves from the personal responsibility that accompanies supporting discrimination.
It is an undeniable fact that dishonest, fear mongering organizations not only “desire” to empower government to deny rights to others on their behalf, they have succeeded.
I maintain that my position on the matter is not only more moral than the politically motivated homophobes, it also supports the concept of limited government. -
JWF is collecting posts and tweets made by the folks in Bobo’s corner regarding the shooting.
The responses are predictable. -
You guys aren’t going to get out of this that easily, Bobzy.
-
This is a dog. This is a dog with a sizable turtle. This is not going to end well at all.
-
#99 Sorry. 😉
#100 If I didn’t know better, I’d guess that you’d been in my stash. Duh! I wasn’t using “qualified” in the constitutional sense. Given those parameters even you or I would be “qualified” and I wouldn’t vote for either of us. -
#102 Broad brushed painting is a very poor excuse for a valid argument. You fail.
JWF is collecting posts and tweets made by the folks in Bobo’s corner regarding the shooting.
When some extreme right wing nutjob opens fire on an abortion clinic, or assassinates a doctor at point blank range, do I group all pro-lifers along with him?
Again… FAIL. -
Actually Bob no one is qualified to be president under your daffynitions except someone that has already been president. And frankly I have not been very impressed with the journeymen that have occupied the Whitewashed House in the past decade or so. I would gladly take Palin over this person that currently occupies the seat.
-
29 times, in case you’re wondering.
-
When some extreme right wing nutjob opens fire on an abortion clinic, or assassinates a doctor at point blank range, do I group all pro-lifers along with him?
Yes. Bobzy. You guys do exactly that.
-
I don’t “peddle” anything
So much that you should get you a few pairs of these (if you don’t already have them).
-
Squawk for VP?
Oh h£ll yes. -
I like to wear the blue striped ones while munching bruschetta.
-
#109
SargeQueen of Broad Brush FailsYes. Bobzy. You guys do exactly that.
You’re hopeless. You can not point to an instance where I have done so. Fail!
#110 I have a pair, but they don’t go well with any of my purses. -
Bobzy.
You belong to the same club that spews hatred towards Michelle Bachman, Rick Santorum, Rick Perry and others on this issue. The same club that blamed Sarah Palin and the “vitriolic tone of the Right Wing” for the Gabby Giffords shooting. I have never seen you denouce the hatred aimed in thier direction, but I certainly have seen you wallow in it.
The people on your side are the ones who developed and pursued the notion of collective guilt in instances like this. That thing you folks find yourself hoisted on is called a petard. It belongs to you. We’ll give it back when we’re done with it. -
It is an undeniable fact that dishonest, fear mongering organizations not only “desire” to empower government to deny rights to others on their behalf, they have succeeded.
OK Bobo: What friggin rights are you speaking of other than the privilege of having the title married attached to you?? What rights are being denied that a simple piece of paper (like a friggin marriage license) won’t satisfy? Please be specific cause you keep spewing nonsense about all these rights and privileges that are being denied, so what the wiss are they??
-
It is an undeniable fact that dishonest, fear mongering organizations not only “desire” to empower government to deny rights to others on their behalf, they have succeeded.
Nah. You’re not participating the the Hate. Your rhetoric is reasonable and considered.
-
I’m gonna go to the hardware store for a while, any bets on Bobo actually posting something that resembles a responsive answer to my #115 above before I get back??
-
The Family Research Council strongly opposes same-sex marriage and abortion, and police thought the shooting “might fall under being considered a hate crime. That’s why they called us in,” said FBI spokeswoman Rebecca Callahan.
Ya think?
-
#114 Apparently there are two kinds of people in your view of the world; Those who completely agree with you, and those that don’t. You incorrectly presume that each and every one of the latter group march in lock step with some bizarre perception based not in fact, but in the narrow crevices of your imagination.
Seriously dude, sometimes you remind me of Joe Arpaio. -
You’re partially right.
There are those that wallow in hate in the name of supporting rights, and there are those who don’t. -
I’d never dream of doing such a thing!
You might not ever dream it but you do it, and on a reg’lar basis. Take this for instance:
This is your litter box so I won’t question your authoritah on what gets dropped in it,
So you say you won’t question me…
yet I’m curious as to why you’d discourage linkies to that specific site while apparently welcoming those from equally BSC ones.
…then question me in the same freaking sentence! What a tool.
And then there’s this gem:You can not point to an instance where I have done so [painted with a broad brush].
That’s funny right there. There’s prolly five posts just today where you’ve slathered your wide-assed brush all over the walls.
-
#115 Bonecrusher, I’ve detailed the purposeful discrimination that you support many times here, and at LST. Maybe you missed it. Since I’m such a nice guy, I’ll point out just a few of the ways you and others have empowered government to materially harm people, people who pose no threat to you, for no rational reason.
1. My employer, like most other large companies, offers equal benefits to same sex couples regardless of whether the state or federal government recognizes their commitment. Thanks to a law (DOMA) that you support, partner benefits are taxed at their monetary value. I’m sure you’re proud of that accomplishment. Pat yourself on the back.
2. A lesbian couple I met at my little UU church adopted each others kids. Like many heterosexual couples that are infertile, they used sperm donors. Each adoption cost them ~4K$ in attorney’s fees. That would buy a lot of diapers, wouldn’t it? But you don’t care. You support empowering government to discriminate based on your irrational and very selective whims. There is no amount of legal hoops a same sex couple can jump through to be treated equally under the law. There is no factual and rational reason not to treat them equally.
3. The couple above is actually pretty lucky. Thanks to the policies that you advocate some states completely prohibit adoption by same sex parents. One example that sticks with me (there are others) is from North Carolina, where the bio-mom died in a traffic accident. Her partner of 12 years had no legal right to any survivorship rights, including custody of their 4 year old child. Thanks to the discrimination that you think is righteous, the state took away the only other parent that kid had ever known, and forced him to live with his grandparents, who had completely disowned their daughter years ago because she was gay. If that’s “family values” then I’m the Queen of England.
The discrimination that you support is of no benefit, unnecessary, and a blatantly aggressive immoral action. To continue to advocate such discrimination in the face of facts is something I think folks like you should be ashamed of. But go ahead, pat yourself on the back and feel good about the harms that you help cause. It feels a lot better than personal responsibility, doesn’t it? -
#119 martyr42
Pot, meet kettle.
Pretty broad brush right there, non? Just because someone doesn’t think gay “marriage” is a wonderful idea, they’re suddenly an autocratic monster who now of necessity believe in the polar opposite of you. -
#11 GJT, GOOD GRIEF! How sad, I just can’t understand why a young man of 30 years old could think that he just wanted out, no matter what his real/percieved problems were. Prayers to the family. 🙁
-
#89 Simple, I figgered it out late last night, Word Press puts some of the dashes together, for instance, I type SOS … – – – … and it shows up like this … — … , try it, the first example has spaces between all the dashes, the second one doesn’t. 😉
-
Oh and This was my #215 last night;
OK, from Squawk’s #132, We need help from Simple or Mr Adee to solve the morse code riddle. I’ll be the first to admit that even though I hold an FCC First General Class License, I know “Diddley Squat” about morse code. I, like everyone else knows that … – – – … is SOS, BUTT thats it, so after LQQking at the code book and getting real confused I cheated and went on-line and found a translator and it came up with; I/.–AN–/—-.–/—–…-/DARREN/.–EAR/——R——N/C—L—RED/–.LA……E…

Bob420 sometimes you are mildly amusing, usually you are simply annoying; after today based on your refusal to acknowledge the iron clad fact that the overwhelming majority of chirrinzes fare much better in life with a mother and father in the house, you are in the same slimey bucket as the other troll. Sound reason and logic simply do not matter, so go ahead and beat your gay is ok drum, I will distance myself from you as much as possible. People like you make this world a much crappier place than it has to be.

#122 bobbity-boo42
1. Your company is free to offer whatever benefits it chooses to. Society at large is also free to decide what benefits it wishes to offer. In both case the motives are similar – to help that entity flourish. In the company’s case its management thinks such policies will help attract better talent than its competition that does not offer such benefits. Society chooses to offer some benefits to heterosexual married couples because that particular family arrangement has been shown to best benefit society and help it flourish.
2. I have seen that heterosexual married coupled can pay amounts well into five figures in order to adopt a child. Your lesbian friends got off easy. I don’t know if your mommy explained the birds and the bees to you, but a lesbian couple is definitionally infertile. Heterosexual couples are situationally infertiles in some instances. I don’t know whether they conceived via turkey baster or IVF, but it doesn’t matter because both are against the natural order.
You get very vocal about how we all need to bow down to the altar of teh ghey, but you don’t tend to say too much when the government forces adoption agencies to provide adoptive services to same sex couples when it is explicitly against their beliefs or to close their doors. So spare me the drama.
3. Did/could they not have designated each other as caregiver of their children in their wills? I can designate a friend to care for my children in the event of my and my wife’s untimely demises. Why could they not have done that? Having a will done is significantly less trouble than a marriage.
In short, you’re just coming up with lame excuses as to why certain people should be treated differently based on their behavior. -
Simple
My Pops and I made my first transmitter on the kitchen table using a 6L6 Tetrode Vacumn Tube and coils wound around pill bottles. We mounnted the components on an old biscuit pan. I had a cousin who worked on Marine Radios and he gave me some crystals which I “ground” to the right frequency for the novice 80 meter band. My receiver was an old Hallicrafters tabletop tube radio that I added a BFO to so I could receive CW. It was the greatest fun working contacts on 80 meters late at night.
A man after my own heart. I’ve never been a Ham operator, but back in one of my other lives, when worked as an avionics shop manager and I had a 65 year old guy that worked for me that was. He was fascinating, when he was in the service he operated a ham radio station on Guam. He had moved down to Saint Simons Island from Marietta and was a M.A.R.S member and the only thing he had to do to stay in was to check in at least once a week, so he set up his set in his garage. His made his transmitter himself and had an old military, Collins, multi band, shortwave receiver. One Saturday I helped him install an inverted V antenna in a 200 year old oak tree. His son came over and used his long bow to shoot a parachute cord through the top of the tree and we pulled the antenna up about 40 feet. We hooked it up and it checked the SWR, 1090 watts out, 850 reflected!! So he trimmed and moved the bottom the V around until we had about 200 watts back. He decided that it would have to do since we’d burned up most of the day. Anywho, he could reach Atlanta most any time he wanted on SSB and the dang transmitter was so powerful that you didn’t need headphones; you could hear the sidetone coming out of the chassis. 😉
Oh, I left out the part that the M.A.R.S net is 80 meters, but you probaly know that. -
Either one of you guys have anything to do with EME?
They’re the ones who talk to their friends in Australia by bouncing the signal off the Moon. -
#128 WB
You must worship at the altar of the Church of the Rainbow, homophobe! Coexist or else! -
Only if they have prancing unicorns that crap sparkles.
-
I always thought that if I was requested to visit/spend time with TBO, I’d decline, gracefully or not. But now, I think I’d do what this guy is doing.
Delicious! -
#123 WB, nope. No broad brushing here. If you support government sanctioned discrimination, the burden of proof is on you to demonstrate the need and benefit of doing so. As I’ve said too many times, I don’t think you or anyone else here can do that.
Maybe you’ll be the first to surprise me and offer a rational reason for your support of government harming others on your behalf, but I doubt it.
Really, does harming people for no rational or realistic reason somehow gratify you? If so, why? I think that is a fair question. -
If you support government sanctioned discrimination, the burden of proof is on you to demonstrate the need and benefit of doing so. As I’ve said too many times, I don’t think you or anyone else here can do that.
What a load of crap. We don’t need to do that. The initial premise of your screed is false so the rest of your hate-filled, authoritarian demands are irrelevant. Isn’t it time for you to go commiserate with your CotR Coexist Cult Hate Group?
-
bob, give it a rest. You simply do not want to listen to anything that contradicts your libertine views. Marriage between one man and one woman has benefited every single society in which it has been implemented for over 3,000 years. That is why it is in society’s interest to encourage it. Nobody is stopping two lesbians or two queens or multiple people of whatever sexual orientation(s) or proclivity(ies) from doing what they want with and to one another.
All that is happening is that we disagree with their behavior. We do not hate them. In fact, we have just as much love for them as we do anyone else, because every soul is equally precious in God’s sight.
You have failed to show any example of tangible harm whatsoever. I gave you concrete counterarguments for your examples/scenarios that show your reasons for gay “marriage” can easily be solved through mechanisms that have been around for many years already. Just because we do not endorse a particular behavior does not mean we are harming someone.
For someone who claims to be so tolerant and accepting of others’ rights, you sure want to restrict those of others. I have presented my belief that traditional marriage, by and large, is more beneficial to the society as a whole than your alternative. -
#104 Squawk,….OUCH!!! 🙁
-
Let me clarify:
While I disagree with their behavior, I am in no way saying that they should be prevented from doing what they want with and to each other. Similarly, I do not wish to be expected to subsidize or otherwise encourage that behavior.
Despite the fact that you expect me to support that behavior. -
#134
Like clockwork, once every 4-5 weeks, bobo asks how come nobody could ever explain why they are opposed to gay marriage. We need to save a permanent link to the last time this question was answered, and just point him at it again.
I was very impressed with a recent answer to the question, where it was explained how same-sex partners are not able to form a marital union, by definition.
So guess our gay friends better be happy to live in a country where many, possibly most, citizens are OK with the civil union concept. -
Well I guess I’ll go get me a “Super Combo” and a Duck Stamp this weekend; Huntin’ Fishin’ Licenses go on sale today.
Dang, I think the Combo is up to about $70 bucks now, not counting the $12.00 Duck Stamp. -
#141 wagonburner, ARE U KIDDING EVERYONE KNOWS THAT!!! Sorry about the screaming but dang that is NOT news, they always compare,…..well, I’m outta here!
-
Simple, I left out the point that I started out my #129 with, that is, although I’ve never used the old crystals that were in the 1″ square holder with the covers that come off with screws, the old gentleman gave me a few of them and showed me how to use a sheet of sandpaper to change the frequency.
-
Welp, Ole Dave been done kilt tha blog…… 🙁

My sister is going through a rough time, and she’s trying to take it out on me. It sucks that her husband died, that her health is in decline, that she’s decided to move – and now I’m evil incarnate.
It’s trying my patience, but I keep trying to understand that she’s working through a lot of pain right now, and had to put it somewhere. It happened to have landed on me. I thought we were fine until she told me that she decided to move out, and ever since then, everything I’ve said to her has had a nuance to it that I never intended. She thinks I’m trying to kick her out, even though I told her I wanted her to stay. I can’t say a right thing even if she dictated it to me, it seems. I’ve let her know that I understand, but dang, I just feel like slapping some sense into her. I told her I understood what she’s going through and I’m not angry with her. I can’t wait until she calms down and gets comfortable with her new station in life. Maybe then I can put the devil horns away. -
If you want to see cajones in action, check out Arizona Governor Jan Brewer’s reaction to Obama’s amnesty plan. I’m liking this woman in government, even though as a general rule, I do not like women in positions of authority.

#141 WB And then there’s this.

#147 EG
Jan Brewer gots plenty of TF. -
Julia Child would have been 100 today.
My Lil’ Sister and I used to like watching her on chanel 2, the PBS station in Dozier, Alabama. We thought that she was fuuny and made fun of her. After I grew up I changed my mind, say what you will, but the fact is that she was a smart and classy lady. I really liked how in her later years she shunned the “Pleasure Police” and said that she would always use real butter and when asked about how fattening it was, she said that you should eat good but in moderation. -
#148 Hambone 😯 Dang, I hope Granny don’t see that! Has she already gone to bed? 😉
-
OK my #151 so just what motivated the study,…? Bitting tongue,.. can’t go there, I better just leave it at that.

#148 I saw that on Drudge a day or so ago and I declined to post lest I incur the wrath of the angry blog monkey (again). Dya think any of the wimminzes are buying it?

And then there’s this. -

Dya think any of the wimminzes are buying it?
Not for a minute.

#154: from the comments:
A “war” on pubic hair? It gives a whole new meaning to the term “carpet bombing”….doesn’t it?
and with that note I will bid y’all good night.

Who could forget Dan Aykroyd in his great Saturday Night Live Skit; The French Chef!
FWIW; Julia Child thought that it was funny. -
#148
I see the other 2 “wimminzes” have wisely elected to ignore this subject. I will wade in and say that I doubt if a BJ is all that appealing when you really just feel like blowing your cookies. -
Heck, it’s worth a few tries.
-
I’ll call my first ex wife.
She’ll know.
😉 -

#150 Super Dave
Yeah, if Julia had listened to the conventional wisdom, she would have been dead decades ago. As it was, Childs lived to 92 eating eggs, real heavy cream, genuine butter and red wine everyday of her life.
If you never saw the movie, Julie and Julia , you ought to watch it. Meryl Streep was phenomenal and the movie very good even though it was pegged as some kinda chick flick. -
How many ex wives ya got, Shannon?
-
Thousands
-
#163
Too many to count. -
I’ll say this about Shannon.
He ain’t never married no ugly woman. -
Is that a double negative?

We’ll be celebrating our 24th anniversary this year!

We’ll be celebrating our 24th anniversary this year!
I’ve got ties older than that ………… 😉

Devo’s next song is about Mitt Romney’s dog. The American new wave band are putting an Irish setter front and centre on Don’t Roof Rack Me, Bro! (Remember Seamus), which takes fire at the Republican presidential candidate.

Congress not doing to well poll wise
Just 10 percent of Americans approved of Congress in August, down six points from last month, and tied with February as the lowest rating in Gallup’s 38-year history of the measure.
What to do, what to do ………………………
I know! Let’s put one on a Presidential ticket!
Whom to pick …………………………………..
I know! Let’s pick one who voted for TARP, bailouts and every budget busting bill that his party advanced.
I’m so looking forward to this election. 🙂 -
Rats!
Another one gone, I read and reread everyone of the Stainless Steel Rat books.Popular science-fiction author Harry Harrison, whose book “Make Room! Make Room!” was the basis for the 1973 film “Soylent Green,” about a futuristic society and its fictional food, has died, his publisher said Wednesday. He was 87.
Born in 1925 in Stamford, Connecticut, Harrison was best known for his 12 novels about the futuristic character “Slippery Jim” DeGriz, also known as the Stainless Steel Rat. -
Wow, 23 LGBT groups condemn the unfortunate shooting this morning.
We were saddened to hear news of the shooting this morning at the offices of the Family Research Council. Our hearts go out to the shooting victim, his family, and his co-workers.
The motivation and circumstances behind today’s tragedy are still unknown, but regardless of what emerges as the reason for this shooting, we utterly reject and condemn such violence. We wish for a swift and complete recovery for the victim of this terrible incident. -

The site you linked has an ad: Single? Want to meet other transsexuals?
I don’t get it, why would they…… wouldn’t they just….. ah hell, nevermind. -
Includes awesome video – take time to watch.

Suspect in FRC shooting was volunteer at LGBT center in Washington DC.
Where he learned that the Family Research Center and Chick Fil A are populated by people whose opposition to Gay marriage is motivated by Hate and want to take thier rights away.
It really doesn’t really matter when they realize that they’ve driven a man to commit such a hate filled act after he’s shot somebody, does it?
I hope they apologize to the family of the man he shot and all of the people traumatized by the event–but they won’t.
It would be admitting that their hate filled vitriolic rhetoric is what drove him to it. -
And the SPLC also labled the American Legon as a Hate Group beause of thier position on Illegal Immigration.
