10 WAYS TO KNOW IF YOU HAVE “ESTROGEN ISSUES”
1. Everyone around you has an attitude problem.
2. You’re adding chocolate chips to your cheese omelet.
3. The dryer has shrunk every last pair of your jeans.
4. Your husband is suddenly agreeing to everything you say.
5. You’re using your cell phone to dial up every bumper sticker that says: “How’s my driving”.
6. Everyone’s head looks like an invitation to batting practice.
7. Everyone seems to have just landed here from “outer space.”
9. You’re sure that everyone is scheming to drive you crazy.
10. The ibuprofen bottle is empty and you bought it yesterday. -

A transmission goes to a bar on “ladies night” and is denied the drink specials reserved for actual “ladies”. So he/she/it/they decide to sue.
the problems began when patron Alex Borrego went to Bishop with several friends, including three female-to-male transgender persons and a drag queen.
Though Borrego was initially offered discounted beverages as part of the barโs promotion, a bouncer came over and told them they were cut off from the deals โbecause [they’re] dudes.โ

An interesting mental exercise, what if the country of Israel was created by locals instead of European refugees?
Most people speak a variety of Sephardic dialects, but the leaders speak Judeo-Arabic or Arabic. These leaders are religiously observant, and hold in contempt most Europeans, viewing them as barbaric creatures who do not fear God, have enslaved much of the African and Asian continents, and have fought too many murderous wars.

BTW Happy Saint Patty’s Day. I found the Wiki entry about where St Patty’s Day is celebrated around the world quite interesting.
So I got to thinking “What about Puerto Rico? Dang it were is Puerto Rico in the list?”
Knowing that Google is my friend I did a search and found this March 17, 1926 article. Apparently St Patty could really kick ants when he wanted to.

Not much mention of our own Al Green and some of his cronies being arrested the other day at some protest. I suppose their political opposition is keeping this under wraps and spring it as a November surprise. I also understand some Hollywood types got arrested also, hopefully the right wing media will see through their feeble attempts to garner attention and not give them any free publicity.
Agents also placed several of Greenโs Capitol Hill colleagues under arrest: Massachusetts Reps. James McGovern and John Olver, and Rep. Jim Moran of Virginia โ like Green, all Democrats.

As if anyone really has to wonder why govt run healthcare can be nothing but a disaster, we have this from the Sec of HHS:
HEADLINE: After Film Warning Kids Not to Call Others ‘Jerks,’ Sebelius Tells Kids to Say: ‘You’re Being a Jerk’
If someone tried to make this up they would be chastised as totally unbelievable.

HEADLINE:The CIA wants to spy on you through your TV: Agency director says it will ‘transform’ surveillance
one of the commenters had this to say:
If you configure your home to have one of your own PC’s act like a DNS server, you can block all of the various tracking and ad-servers and beacons operated by dozens of companies, notably google, twitter and facebook. If people learned how to use the HOSTS file on their own linux or Windows PCs they could accomplish the same thing. Look up “MVPS HOSTS file and take back your anonymity.

OK, I am absolutely non-nerdly and have no idea what a DNS server is or what it does. Does that make you feel any better? The question is: can setting up a separate computer as a dns server block a bunch of spying potential?

It looks like there was more to the story after all.
Jonathan Shay, a clinical psychiatrist and author who was awarded a MacArthur โgenius grantโ for his work with veterans, wondered about the soldierโs relationship with the Special Operations forces โ which can be very standoffish to outsiders โ that he was attached to at a remote outpost in Afghanistan. โTo me this is a presumptive case of leadership failure,โ he said. โWhoever was directly responsible for this soldier did not do his job in the sense of getting to know him.โ

Don’t hear much from the teabaggers anymore, I guess their sense of outrage and spontaneity dried up with their sponsor’s funding. I remember whenever the Speaker would land somewhere and folks would turn up protesting the deficit and big government. Not many shout downs at rallies anymore. I always though they were destined to join their Know Nothing fore bearers.
Once the Republican Circus is down to a center ring, I’m sure the baggers will be funded and back. -

It looks like there was more to the story after all.Now that he’s got a lawyer, we’re going to see all those stories turning him into a victim.
But there’s even MORE to the story, stuff the lawyer and the apologists are going to have a hard time reconciling with the “its the military’s fault they turned him into a killer” meme that’s going to be popular.
But court records show Bales was arrested at a Tacoma, Wash., hotel in 2002 on suspicion of assaulting a woman he dated before he married his wife, his lawyer, John Henry Browne, confirmed. Bales pleaded not guilty, underwent 20 hours of anger-management counseling and the case was dismissed, according to court records.
Until late Friday, nearly all the very limited information known about Bales had come either from unidentified military officials or Browne.
snip
On Friday, a senior U.S. Defense official said Bales was drinking alcohol in the hours before the attack on Afghan villagers, violating a U.S. military order banning alcohol in war zones. The official discussed the matter on condition of anonymity because charges have not yet been filed.
Get drunk. Kill people. Stomp on the body of the two year old you just killed. Try to set the bodies on fire. Get your lawyer to make millions of people to feel sorry for you.
I’m not going to fall for it.

With good reason, they changed their name to the Von Bondies and broke up in 2011.
The original line-up formed at the 1997 Cramps/Guitar Wolf show by Stollsteimer and Marcie Bolen. They went through a variety of names, including The Baby Killers.
However, you do get points for obscure cultural references.

Re: Ted Nugent
Yanno he is supposed to be some type of Tea Party anti-hero. I have listened to many of his rants and I find him as offensive as some of the people he rails against. In fact some of his suggestions border on fascism. He has said on more than one occasion that people that do not do things his way ought to be (insert Nugentism here). ANYONE that suggests forms of governing outside the methods provided in the Constitution is no patriot as far as I am concerned.

And I trust, not unexpected.
Maybe it was the LST crowd, but everyday it was rail against this, rail against that, rally here, rally there. Protest this politician, protest that politician, extremism in support of teabaggery is no vice (OK, I made that last one up).
Ever since the Republican Party overtook the teabaggers, life hasn’t been as exciting. At one time there was some sort of philosophy, now it’s just another wing of the Republican Party. I wouldn’t be surprised if the precinct chairs were the same for teabaggers and County Republicans. ๐
The one sure way to prove my theory that the teabag movement is philosophically vacuous would be if it springs to life again, once the Republican Party has chosen their candidates.

Please refer to them as tea partiers, tea party members. To refer to them as tea baggers is despicable, even for you. And you know exactly what you are doing, which makes it even worse.
To disagree is one thing. To tweak is at least annoying, at worst, what you usually look for. To troll is worse. To insult on the level to which you have returned over and over on just this thread is inexcusable.
I lose all respect for you when you to stoop to this level. I’ve been trying to ignore your posts, because life is too short. But on this one, I must ask that if you are going to personally insult people at this level, I personally ask that you take that crap elsewhere.

For over 10 years, I have illustrated the absurd with absurdity, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. In this instance, I chose the wrong words in my analogy of the situation. I did not mean a personal attack on Tea Partiers.
My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir. I sincerely apologize to tea partiers for the insulting word choices. And on a personal note, I welcome a return to civility and a cessation to the use of degrading monikers invoked solely to demagogue proponents of political or religious philosophies.
Now, has anyone have any experience with Dyson vacuum cleaners?

High volume is not critical Katfish. I was reading about some of the reverse osmosis systems and the biggest complaint is “recharge time”. I could escape that buying the super expensive system but hell if I did that I may as well go all the way with culligan.

#85 – I have no scientific data or means to measure – but the filtered water from this unit is YUMMY (as in tasteless and refreshing) – I used to use the pure unit that fits on the faucet – those little fixtures wind up with “squirt leaks” that were a POS & troublesome – the cannister is GREAT IMHO – heck try just ONE and see how ya like it – they come with the first 1 or 2 filters as I recall………..

Katfish
I am willing to give it a try for sure. When I consider that I will have to crawl under the sink to install the other system or pay through the wazoo for any of the other systems, that little price tag and simplicity is looking well worth the try. -

I just got back inside from moving a portion of Mirkwood. I made some good progress today. I collected some bugs for my sister’s chickens. I’ll be taking those plus a chef salad over there soon. Bugs for the chickens. Salad for my sister. Just in case anyone was confused.
And as for Shammy’s apology, I have only two words: Bite me. You can’t even apologize without trying to prick emotions.
As far as Dyson vacuum cleaners, don’t they use big balls for maneuvering?

Yeah, it didn’t work for Rush Limbaugh either. But it was worth a shot.
However, to quote David Weigel
Generally, however, I agree that itโs good to call people what they want to be called, and for that reason I refer to them as โTea Party protestersโ and โTea Party activists.โ

#70 Squawk: I have a Puraflo r/o system under my kitchen sink and it works beatifully. If your sink is anywhere close to your icemaker you can route a line to the icemaker which will cause it to produce clear ice cubes. Ice cubes that are cloudy indicate crap in the water. Clear ice cubes last longer in a drink and do not alter the flavor. My system only gets serviced at about 18 month intervals which seems to work well. The coffee maker never has to be de-scaled because the water going in doesn’t produce it. I think the owner’s name is Rocky, his former partner, Bob, is one of my long time clients.

That is neat, it always interesting to see how books compare now with previous editions. For example The Book of Mormon now includes many clarifications from the edition first published in 1830. Particularly with regards to Jesus being the son of God from Mary.
I had heard of these changes, but it’s always good to see them first hand.
Also included is a copy of the Bill of Rights from 1789. It takes a while to stop reading the long s as an f.

Did you install that thing? Cost? Do you ever have problems with recharging the system, that is do you at times have to wait for the water to catch up to use?I have no qualms about installing the thing for myself. Unfortunately the sink is on another wall from the ice maker. i gotta put a separate filter on that thing one of these days. The little filter that is in the fridge gets overwhelmed after a week or 2 in the summer when ice use is high.
I have been reading that some of these “lowes specials” are not worth the money spent on them. So i am thinking I am gonna have to spring for either Katfish’s suggestion or upgrade the amount I want to spend.
thanx in advance

Normally I let these things pass as just another day in the Republican Party, but I love the term “Raucous Caucus”
A caucus in the gymnasium at Francis Howell North High School in St. Peters was shut down after about a half hour of boisterous disputes, some of it over a caucus rule barring videotaping and other recording.
If it was Democrats, it would have been called a riot. Good thing these folks aren’t armed.

So BSue looks over my should and says
“Honey to remove the scale and stuff like that you have to have a water softener and we are not going to have a water softener because successful water softening requires sodium and sodium drives our blood pressure sky high and you would have to change out the salt on a prescribed basis which makes you crazy and drives your blood pressure sky high so forget that.”
Weehewww My BSue is one smart female type woman. no water softeners so we go for taste.

#97 Squawk: I did not install the system, but they are not complicated. To be honest I have no idea what they cost now and I never paid cash for mine in the first place, I bartered it. I have a 3 or 4 gallon tank under the sink and I rarely drain it so the recharge time is rarely tested. I think it is a couple of hours and when the unit is first installed, you have to wait until it fully charges and then dump it, and may have to even repeat the cycle as some of the charcoal from one of the filters usually gets in the mix. I think this system filters down to the 1 micron level in a multi stage process, one is charcoal (which strips out the Cl2 and other crap) and another is fine mesh synthetic I think from there it goes through the r/o phase and then to the tank. The last time I spoke with the guy about it you can rent one and they handle installation and regular maintenance/filter changes or you can buy it outright and then buy the filter cartridges when needed and it is not frequent. I live in Glorious Copperfield and we get our water mostly from a well at the end of the street. I have taste tested the difference between the r/o water and regular tap water and the difference is dramatic. Did I mention that I never clean the coffee maker? Mine usually last 4 – 5 years and the bottom heater plate is what fails/rusts out or I wind up breaking the carafe; the primary water heater never has a problem. If your water is as hard as you indicate, you are also trashing your water heater and building up crap in your washer and dryer, not to mention your toilets and shower heads. I wish I could give more/any price info but I just don’t have it.

Now, has anyone have any experience with Dyson vacuum cleaners?
I have a cousin who has had to go to work since the Occu-Toddler movement went south. She sells Rainbow vacuum cleaners now, I know where you live, she’ll be there in the morning, 8:00 sharp.
BTW, she can help you out with a avacado green oven as well – to match your decor.

That is neat, it always interesting to see how books compare now with previous editions. For example The Book of Mormon now includes many clarifications from the edition first published in 1830. Particularly with regards to Jesus being the son of God from Mary.
That is correct and here’s from your link (I highlight in bold the parts your link highlighted in red):
Four important changes were made in the second edition of the Book of Mormon concerning the Godhead. One of the most significant changes was made in 1 Nephi 13:40. It was stated in this verse that the purpose of the Nephite records was to make known that Christ is the Eternal Father. In the first edition we read as follows:
“… These last records … shall make known to all kindreds, tongues, and people, that the Lamb of God is the Eternal Father and the Savior … ” (Book of Mormon, 1830 edition, page 32)
In the 1964 edition it reads as follows:
“… These last records … shall make known to all kindreds, tongues, and people, that the Lamb of God is the Son of the Eternal Father, and the Savior …” (Book of Mormon, 1964 edition, 1 Nephi 13:40)
Another important change was made in 1 Nephi 11:18; this is page 25 of the 1830 edition. In the 1830 edition it read: “… Behold, the virgin which thou seest, is the mother of God, after the manner of the flesh.” In modern editions it has been changed to read, “… Behold, the virgin whom thou seest is the mother of the Son of God, after the manner of the flesh.” The words, the Son of, were inserted in the middle of the sentence. Verse 21 of the same chapter originally read: “And the angel said unto me, behold the Lamb of God, yea, even the Eternal Father!” It was changed to read: “And the angel said unto me: Behold the Lamb of God, yea, even the Son of the Eternal Father!” Verse 32 of the same chapter, which is on page 26 of the original edition, was also changed. In the 1830 edition it reads: “… the Everlasting God, was judged of the world; and I saw and bear record.” It was changed to read: “… the Son of the everlasting God, was judged of the world; and I saw and bear record.” Joseph Smith apparently made these changes to support his doctrine of a plurality of Gods.
In these instances, the changes were made to clarify distiction between the Son who is God and the Father who is God. These change of titles (applying “father” to Jesus) can be traced back even to Old Testament times which would be the chronological time frame of these writings. Furthermore, the Book of Mormon still teaches the Son is also the Father, or rather, may be called by the title of “Father”:
27 And because he said unto them that Christ was the God, the Father of all things, and said that he should take upon him the image of man…
(Mosiah 7)
2 And because he dwelleth in flesh he shall be called the Son of God, and having subjected the flesh to the will of the Father, being the Father and the Sonโ
3 The Father, because he was conceived by the power of God; and the Son, because of the flesh; thus becoming the Father and Sonโ
4 And they are one God, yea, the very Eternal Father of heaven and of earth.
(Mosiah 15)
15 Teach them that redemption cometh through Christ the Lord, who is the very aternal Father. Amen.
(Mosiah 16)
12 And also that ye might know of the coming of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Father of heaven and of earth, the Creator of all things from the beginning; and that ye might know of the signs of his coming, to the intent that ye might believe on his name.
(Helaman 14)
and
14 Behold, I am he who was prepared from the foundation of the world to redeem my people. Behold, I am Jesus Christ. I am the Father and the Son. In me shall all mankind have life, and that eternally, even they who shall believe on my name; and they shall become my sons and my daughters.
(Ether 3)
For a complete list see HERE.
Thus the Book of Mormon teaches that Jesus is the Father in the sense of: a) His unique conception from the Father; b) that He is the Creator of “all things”; c) He is one with the Father; and d) we may become His children for eternal life.
The Book of Mormon as well as Mormon theology does indeed allow the title of “Father” to apply to the Son but it is not founded upon the same teaching which traditional Christianity has taught. This title can be applied to Jesus for His unique and divine role in the eternities and for the unique manner of how He was begotten in the flesh. The oneness of the Father and the Son in Mormon theology is not founded upon homoousia or “same substance” which is not found in any scripture I know of. In Mormon theology the Father and the Son are, as your link pointed out, believed to be two seprarate beings yet completely one in purpose. For whatever reasons Joseph Smith felt it necessary to change the passaged cited in order to reinforce that concept; not to change the role or position of either the Father or the Son in the Godhead.

The only reason I picked on the Book of Mormon is because it’s in English, it caught my eye and I’m reasonably familiar with the discussion.
Exegesis on biblical texts take a lot more time and get rocky around 1300 when we change to fragments.
Clearly no offense was taken, nor intended. -

All religions have anti-religions associated with them. And at one time or another I’ve run across them or had someone send them to me. Sometimes they take a piece of truth and run with it at other times out and out fabrications. The site I linked to started out with differences which are easily verifiable and then attempts to ascribe reasons. Not having a dog in the fight I mentally mark the differences and return if research is needed on explanations. When I came across the 1830 BOM, it was an easy find to verify the 1 Neph 11:18 passages which were my keenest interests. Reading the remainder of passage on page 25 confirmed that the added material was indeed a clarification and not a change, hence my wording.

Belated Happy St. Patrick’s Day, when everyone can be Irish if desired.
Spouse’s brother and wife arrived safely on Thursday afternoon from Madison. The flight from Chicago was sold out and packed, but it is only a little over 2 hours in the air and so was tolerable. Weather in Madison has been a couple of degrees warmer than here for the past several days–completely unexpected. No St. Paddy’s Day week blizzard this year. The natives are in shock.
We took them to see the King Tut exhibit on Friday morning, and they enjoyed it immensely. We enjoyed it even more our second viewing. It seemed just as packed as on our first visit in November. Parking at the Fine Arts Museum, Houston was hard to find around 10:45 am, but we had discovered another lot belonging to the museum just behind another building in the complex in November and went there to find plenty of open spaces. On return afterwards, there was nothing available and cars waiting for us to leave. The huge statue of Anubis out front is still decked out in his Rodeo duds, and folks were taking pictures of that.
We’re off to the Brenham/Independence area tomorrow in search of bluebonnet viewing.

Starting from the 5th paragraph of your linked site we read:
It is very interesting to note that the Mormon Historian Joseph Fielding Smith has claimed that there is no truth in the statement that there have been thousands of changes in the Book of Mormon. He was reported as saying the following at the fall conference of 1961:
“During the past week or two I have received a number of letters from different parts of the United States written by people, some of whom at least are a little concerned because they have been approached by enemies of the Church and enemies of the Book of Mormon, who have made the statement that there have been one or two or more thousand changes in the Book of Mormon since the first edition was published. Well, of course, there is no truth in that statement.
“It is true that when the Book of Mormon was printed the printer was a man who was unfriendly. The publication of the book was done under adverse circumstances, and there were a few errors, mostly typographical โ conditions that arise in most any book that is being published โ but there was not one thing in the Book of Mormon or in the second edition or any other edition since that in any way contradicts the first edition, and such changes as were made were made by the Prophet Joseph Smith because under those adverse conditions the Book of Mormon was published. But there was no change of doctrine.
“Now, these Sons of Belial who circulate these reports evidently know better. I will not use the word that is in my mind.” (The Improvement Era, December, 1961, pp. 924-925)
This study will show that there have been thousands of changes in the Book of Mormon and that Joseph Fielding Smith is the one who is not telling the truth
From the very start it is undeniably clear that this site, which I’ve seen before from people who desire to denounce the LDS faith as a false, man-made religion, who often refer to Joseph Smith as a “con artist”, is set up to be anti-Mormon and its very purpose is to diescredit the LDS faith, in this case, by focusing on the changes made within the Book of Mormon.
The fifth paragraph cites “(The Improvement Era, December, 1961, pp. 924-925)”. I have had great difficulty tracking down the original article of this citation. It’s obviously out of print and difficult to find and thus I wonder where the website pulled this from; the author read the original version or did he simply cut and paste from another website? I learned the title of the article (which your weblink failed to cite) from HERE, a website not entirely complete but I do entirely vouch for over matters of Mormonism. The title apparently is “The Book of Mormon, A Divine Record”, yet even with that info on hand, i still have had great difficulty finding the original article. Without the original article I find it impossible to determine the context by which Joseph Fielding Smith is quoted. From the cited Smith passages, I find his declarations correct. Most ofthe changes were typographical (despite what your weblink says about B.H. Roberts, the fact fot he matter is that most ofthe changes were typographical as well as moving away from the “Hebraism” language ofthe Book of Mormon to a more modern-day English style of language) and that no changes contradict previous doctrines yet your weblink calls Joseph Fielding Smith a liar.

This one’s for you TedTam. A Scout Leader in Canada got tired of going to Jamborees and other Scout gatherings and beig assigned camping areas where his Troop could not hang thier hammocks. Their solution was to build a portable geodesic dome. Scroll down a bit to the pics. If you’re interested in the method of construction, go to the first page.

Looks like much of the recent lefty propaganda against Apple in China is based on lies. Given how few people listen to this drivel, I doubt it matters much.

Don’t go out of your way to prove or disprove anything on my account. I only cited the site as the source of a list of differences that I could actually see using Tedtam’s old book look-up thingie. Backhacking the URL it is indeed a denominational Christian proselytizing site aimed at Mormon’s. It’s somewhat of a cottage industry among religions and denominations to poach other’s members.
Locating the The Improvement Era, December, 1961, pp. 924-925 shouldn’t be difficult, they all seem to have been e-converted, FWIW the volume # is 64. The BYU site shows vol 1 through 38 with select volumes after that. If it’s really important, I’m sure it’s available with a library call.
For academic types anything with an original, particularly in English is a straightforward exegesis, particularly with a single author. Hermeneutics then becomes the primary source of criticism and provides no end of discussion. Compare with the Bible, that has upwards of 50,000 changes depending on your definition. I’ve seen papers attributed to one comma, Comma Johanneum, whose existence or non-existence, supports the concept of Trinity. -

I can’t speak much to lefty lies, but NPR systematically dismantled the piece and posted their retraction on Friday. I believe that’s what you are referring to.
A highly popular episode of This American Life in which monologuist Mike Daisey tells of the abuses at factories that make Apple products in China contained “significant fabrications,” the show said today.

#130 EG: The details on the linkie scare the crapola out of me. This one could be interpreted to give the POTUS total power over the manufacturing capacity of the US INCLUDING LABOR:
Sec. 201. Priorities and Allocations Authorities. (a) The authority of the President conferred by section 101 of the Act, 50 U.S.C. App. 2071, to require acceptance and priority performance of contracts or orders (other than contracts of employment) to promote the national defense over performance of any other contracts or orders, and to allocate materials, services, and facilities as deemed necessary or appropriate to promote the national defense, is delegated to the following agency heads:
IF I read that correctly, and I am neither liar nor lawyer, this section give the POTUS power over contracts, materials, services (this means labor, ie human input, the potential for slavery if you will) and facilities.
This is as far as I got and am appalled, I am sure some lefty will tell me that I am reading it all wrong. -

further to #133 above:
(1) the Secretary of Agriculture with respect to food resources, food resource facilities, livestock resources, veterinary resources, plant health resources, and the domestic distribution of farm equipment and commercial fertilizer;
(2) the Secretary of Energy with respect to all forms of energy;
(3) the Secretary of Health and Human Services with respect to health resources;
(4) the Secretary of Transportation with respect to all forms of civil transportation;
(5) the Secretary of Defense with respect to water resources; and
(6) the Secretary of Commerce with respect to all other materials, services, and facilities, including construction materials.
(b) The Secretary of each agency delegated authority under subsection (a) of this section (resource departments) shall plan for and issue regulations to prioritize and allocate resources and establish standards and procedures by which the authority shall be used to promote the national defense, under both emergency and non-emergency conditions. Each Secretary shall authorize the heads of other agencies, as appropriate, to place priority ratings on contracts and orders for materials, services, and facilities needed in support of programs approved under section 202 of this order.
This is a blueprint for complete dictatorial control over all aspects of our lives. With this document we have no freedom of anything and our Constitution is meaningless.

Nope, you have it right. The back story is a trade war with China over strategic stockpiles. China has 97% of them sewed up and is restricting use and access. The US, Japan and the EU have filed a WTO complaint.
In the event that it doesn’t go well, the President is exercising his authority to retaliate against China.
IMO, ramifications can be far-reaching and drastic, from restriction on US exports of oil to preserve US energy independence to seizing foreign held mining investments in the US. FWIW, these are actions taken by previous Presidents.
These are interesting times, Congress is going to have to focus on legislation defining the extent of the President’s powers instead of conducting safaris into the female anatomy.
These are interesting times, pay close attention to how the media factions, pundits and political interests mill about until business tells them what parts of this they favor and what parts they don’t. Most visible will be the Republican Primary circus as the candidates attempt to explain complex trade concepts to their constituencies more interested in social engineering.
The short and easy answer will involve demonization and demagoguery of China. -

Dang, I was afraid of that. Thought maybe I got the wrong link or something, but guess not. I didn’t see that part in there about it being limited strictly to trade issues with China though.

Again, I reiterate the entertainment value will be in the wingnuts on both ends of the spectrum running about with their hair on fire raising legitimate questions lost in smokescreens of their own making. See #133 and 134 above ๐
And yes, the President already has power over contracts and labor.
Nine other unions reached tentative agreements in mid-November shortly after a Presidential Emergency Board (PEB) appointed by President Obama recommended terms to settle a two-year contract dispute between 12 rail unions and US rail freight carriers.

I took my sister her food and the chicken food last night. She was in good spirits, which surprised me, but she explained she had finally had a full night’s sleep, which was helping her get through the day. We spent some time together, fed the chickens, and talked about the garden (Rocky was able to plant some seeds in some trays before he lost his ability to move about. Cathy now has some seedlings coming up – her last gift from Rocky, as it were. Rocky is “in transition” now. In one way, it’s sad to see him as he is now. Cathy said that just touching him causing excruciating pain, and even in his near constant sleep state, he fights it. The only thing good that I can say about cancer, is that by the time the end arrives, the loved ones are grateful for the release from the pain.
I went to see Act of Valor last night. Watching the SEALs in action was very cool. It’s a gory movie, but they are involved in acts of war, after all. You can tell these aren’t trained actors, but I could sense the camaraderie of the SEAL family. And when one them decided to make the ultimate sacrifice for his buddies…well, I won’t be a spoiler.
Rush explained that the film was made using a $3,000 camera. I will say, they did a fine job with that cheap a camera.

El Gordo,
I assure you your concern is real, the challenge is now to Congress to rein in and define the powers. They did a less than stellar job under Nixon and Johnson; and Obama’s a keen student of history.
IMO, this is a pretty shrewd move by the President . Either Congress gets their act together and starts living up to their Constitutional responsibilities or there is going to be a whole lot of unhappy people come this election. The President has set the Congressional agenda for the next six months, lets see the Republicans say no to that. -

Because the D-commies still control the Senate, it is irrelevant to a point what the House manages to do in the attempt to rein in 0. Did you notice that the term

Man, we need to go into the pretzel biz, that’s some sure nuff twisted logic.
Ms. TT, we went to see Act of Valor as well, great men and women. Hollywood studios have not been able to re-create the sound of real ammo, that is obvious. I read that all military equipment used was actual, none of it studio generated. Awesome!

The first scene that made me go “Oh, Wow!” was the scene in the river, where the platoon all came up together and then just slid back under the surface….and the hands rising up behind the lookout. I thought they were going to grab the guy and take him down, but when the sniper hit him and the hands caught him so he wouldn’t splash, I went “Oh, Wow!”

#142 TT: After seeing that movie, you can now understand why the SEALs are so secretive about where they go and what they do. If the SEALS have you as a target, you are dead; unless they want to interrogate you. Either way, they are a serious force to be reckoned with. It is one of the reasons it is such a tragedy to see them mis-used and killed, or even worse have them betrayed.

Things continue to go to sh*t in a
handbasketenvelope in Wisconsin.Senator Taylor Chief of Staff, Erik Peterson told Newsardio 620 WTMJ that shortly before noon, the Senate mail staff noticed a suspicious package in the mail which was believed to be human excrement. Peterson said he could smell the package and called Capitol police and authorities confirmed it was human excrement.
I don’t know if DNA can be obtained from the material, but I say spend the money to catch this miscreant.

We have arrived at that point in a presidential term where he should soon be heading out on a world tour trying to make himself look presidential or in this case try to convince someone – anyone – that he is a leader. He’s running out of Middle East leaders to bow down to. Perhaps a week in the Gaza paradise is in the offing, kicking off Apology Tour ll.

An interesting article in the print version of the Chronicle this morning presenting a pretty good picture of how politics really works.
For those not following this stuff, tobacco shops buy these machines that roll a carton of cigarettes, then sell the materials to the customers who provide the labor. The product is a carton of cigarettes that cost 50% of what one buys from the state licensed stores. The state also loses out on significant revenue. 25 states have passed legislation regulating this type of activity.Nobody mentioned tobacco last week when the U.S. Senate adopted an amendment to the $109 billion federal highway bill.
But tucked into the 5,600-word amendment to provide aid for rural schools was a single paragraph that would settle a two-year-old fight between Big Tobacco and a small Ohio company that builds a do-it-yourself machine that allows smokers to get their cigarettes a lot cheaper. -

I can envision the photo op with him getting a mortar/rocket firing lesson.
Seeing as he/us is paying for the Thunder Dome missile batteries, that would seem to be a little counterproductive, wouldn’t it?
Are there any coherent, organized firing of synapses or is it just random?

Then on to London for a photo op in a facility of the world-renowned British National Health Service where progress is being made on reducing abortion waiting times. No mention of any improvement in basic cardiac diagnostic testing.

I’m more inclined to believe that the discussion would turn to the economics of preventing abortions instead of efficiencies in performing them. That 25 cent rubber is a lot cheaper than that $500 abortion or tasking the state with raising the child.
Then he could meet with Steven Hawking and discuss what improvements could be made to National Health should it ever be tried in the States. -

โRoll-your-own cigarette machines take advantage of an unintended tax loophole, and that isnโt right, so this offset closes it,โ he said in a statement.
I’m NOT a smoker, never been a smoker, but the taxes on tobacco products and alcohol for that matter is just plain wrong. Both products are legal and should be taxed like anything else. These so called โsin taxesโ are totally unfair and generally hurt the poorest people.

One more thing about the boat, the Boy has put very little gas in it because he has three friends that pitch in. when Daughter had the old Sea Ray in College Station for 3 years they took out a whole bunch of different folks and NEVER bought any gas, but the boat seldom left the dock with less than 6 people on board. ๐

#162 SD: What I find really amusing is that the nanny-nazis proclaim what wonderful things they are gonna do for the chirrenzes with the new revenue stream of the tobacco or alkyhawl tax and then, when consumption goes down they wind up short and take money from police and fire protection first. The increase in those taxes hurt those on the bottom the most, as you said. The increase in taxes causes less consumption as people change their behavior to avoid the penalty, libs can never seem to plan for that reality.

Are you asking about Barack’s or Michelle’s neurotransmissions ? Asking about Joe B’s would be pointless since no activity has been detected there in decades.
Regarding counterproductive efforts, no politician has more adept at finessing those than Obama himself. He’s the Prince of self-defeating measures.

Oh and you can’t buy beer on Sunday in the county, when I was a kid it was totally dry, so you had to drive about 10 miles. That said, is there still some parts of Pasadena that are dry? An interesting observation in The Hill today regarding the number of delegates that the candidates have
Different organizations have different tallies of where the delegate fight now stands โ a fact that is itself testament to the byzantine complexity of the rules โ but the most widely accepted estimate is that of The Associated Press (AP).
If true, it appears that the party claiming voter fraud is real is unable to determine the number of delegates that a candidate has, fraudulent or not? Is this on its way to the courts?
But it gets better, the only one with a reliable estimate is the Mainstream Media? That pegs my irony meter.

…teaching contraception as a way of preventing pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.
Yes, and it has worked so well in reducing teenage and early adult unmarried motherhood. Likewise, it has been a roaring success in virtually wiping out sexually transmitted diseases in America among the young.

It only has to work better than abstinence only, which has been abysmal, here’s an easy study; as you know, there are others.
Adolescents who received comprehensive sex education were significantly less likely to report teen pregnancy (OR(adj) = .4, 95% CI = .22- .69, p = .001) than those who received no formal sex education, whereas there was no significant effect of abstinence-only education (OR(adj) = .7, 95% CI = .38-1.45, p = .38). Abstinence-only education did not reduce the likelihood of engaging in vaginal intercourse (OR(adj) = .8, 95% CI = .51-1.31, p = .40), but comprehensive sex education was marginally associated with a lower likelihood of reporting having engaged in vaginal intercourse (OR(adj) = .7, 95% CI = .49-1.02, p = .06). Neither abstinence-only nor comprehensive sex education significantly reduced the likelihood of reported STD diagnoses (OR(adj) = 1.7, 95% CI = .57-34.76, p = .36 and OR(adj) = 1.8, 95% CI = .67-5.00, p = .24 respectively).
And what about effectivity of contraception?
By 1990 or 1991, the pregnancy rate among teenagers and young women had begun a steady and consistent decline. A decrease in both birth and abortion rates among these women signaled that both intended and unintended pregnancy rates were declining among these age-groups. Recent research concluded that almost all of the decline in the pregnancy rate between 1995 and 2002 among 18โ19-year-olds was attributable to increased contraceptive use
But maybe that was just a fluke, what happens if we shift emphasis?
But, for the first time since the early 1990s, overall rates of pregnancy and birthโand, to a lesser extent, rates of abortionโamong teenagers and young women increased from 2005 to 2006.
I’ve seen later studies, It’s too late to look for them. The 2006 blip was within the MOE, and signaled a plateau. It’s decreasing again.
IMHO prevention not abortion is the way to go forward. -

One reason I did the search I did was for my own benefit. I figure the more familiar I am with the issue and the resources out there the better I’ll be to respond to anyone who may use the site.
The BYU site shows vol 1 through 38 with select volumes after that. If itโs really important, Iโm sure itโs available with a library call.
Yup, I went to that site about 6 different times the other night and could not find the article and I also figured it was volume 64. My experience has shown me that websites which you linked quite often leave out contextual information to further their stated goal and in this case, to discredit Mormonism. I would suggest that if a website is anti-religion of any sort than you may want to not link it for whatever reason you may have in the first place.
