Jesus, a Happy Meal, a penguin, Darth Vader, and Pedobear are all running down the street.
Seems like there ought to be a punch line in there somewhere. Any takers?

What are the thoughts of those on the couch regarding the Jewish basketball team having to forfeit their game? Many think the decision was wrong, but would they support stopping games for 5 o’clock prayers?

The Jesus runner is insensitive. But after seeing the F-word on a mall sale sign in Japan, compliments of Texpat as I recall, well… The Japanese are lovely people in many regards, but not very bright in other areas.

I haven’t followed the story much, but I heard that when they joined the league they knew there could be a conflict some day.
It’s a teaching moment about a situation these kids will face for the rest of their lives.
Honor G_d, forfeit your fleeting temporal desires and move on. -

#3 What ever happened to the concept of: “REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION”? Let’s be real, this is a group that will not sacrifice basic Scriptural principles and the league decided that it would be ok to play hard-@$$ with them. Those in the league who refused to make a simple and darned reasonable accommodation need to remember that karma can be a real beyotch sometimes.
My hat is off to those players and their coach who chose to stick by what the Word actually says. Well done guys. -

We have a Darwin Award winner, folks!
I feel sorry for him, he probably was just going through automatic motions, being a smoker and all, but brain fart moments are just as dangerous as intentional jacka$$ery.
And his poor wife! She has to go through life explaining how her husband died, trying not to be embarrassed or breaking out into laughter. “Well, you see, there was this jar of gasoline by his friend’s sink….”

The “church” of Scientology suffers another PR blackeye. . .
The Church of Scientology, known for celebrity and controversy, is now in the middle of another public relations crisis as a former high-ranking official has created a firestorm, first with an email to church members and then testimony in a Texas state court alleging she saw the church’s leader punch another executive in the face, and that at his direction she herself was slapped.

After yesterday, Mittens has earned approximately 14.6% of the total delegates needed to secure the nomination. Super Tuesday has 419 delegates up for grabs, or 36.6% of the total needed, this time next week at least one of the Rs should drop, perhaps as many as 3.

I’m with you. It was funny the first commercial. Now it’s really annoying.
That he reminds me of a former goombah poster doesn’t help either.
I could have gone the rest of my life without remembering that idiot. Hope you didn’t create a disturbance in The Force.

Good morning Hamsters. We sank to 70 over night, not exactly wintry. On the rollercoaster again, waiting for rain in some intensity–or not–seems to be the formula for the day. And the next cool front teases and lurks somewhere north.
Can’t see any advantage in doing a marathon wearing those costumes unless the intention is to show off for a while and then drop out, exhausted.

O’Keefe is fighting back. Good for him.
It is abhorrent that Emmy award winners can contradict legal facts when citizen journalists are required to release full, unedited material — which I have always done by the way — to corroborate every claim that I make. I welcome criticism and even misguided hatred. But, if they call me a felon, if they call me a rapist, or any other disgusting, libelous, ridiculous thing, I will bring them into a courtroom, I will depose them, I will get access to their e-mails. I don’t care how many golden statues they have, I don’t care how many Emmies, Pulitzers they have. We will bring them to justice.

8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

In a discovery that could rewrite the history of the Americas, archaeologists have found a number of stone tools dating back between 19,000 and 26,000 years, and bearing remarkable similarities to those made in Europe.
Politically incorrect to say?
Stone-age Europeans ‘were the first to set foot on North America’

In one of those interesting cases that puts a limit of federal authority, a federal judge has thrown out a law requiring graphic images on cigarette packs.
A group of tobacco companies led by R.J. Reynolds and Lorillard had sued, saying the warnings would be cost-prohibitive, and would dominate and damage the packaging and promotion of their particular brands. The legal question was whether the new labeling was purely factual and accurate in nature, or was designed to discourage use of the products.
“The graphic images here were neither designed to protect the consumer from confusion or deception, nor to increase consumer awareness of smoking risks” said Leon. “Rather they were crafted to evoke a strong emotional response calculated to provoke the viewer to quit or never start smoking.” -

Neat, I didn’t know that Texas could do this, or if it’s a real issue; why wasn’t it done before? I suspect that somewhere in the funding line there are federal dollars paying for this, maybe some of that money that was supposed to go towards education. The boats do look wicked though.
Next month, the state’s Department of Public Safety will deploy the first of a fleet of six gunboats on the Rio Grande, the river that forms the border between the state and Mexico, CNN affiliate WFAA-TV reports.

As a Jew, I am less interested in what other religions teach about the fate of Jews in the next world than in how they affect the fate of Jews in this world. Rafael Medoff, a scholar of America’s response to the Holocaust, notes that Mormon leaders were outspoken supporters of efforts to rescue Jews from Nazi Europe at a time when many mainstream Christians were silent. For example, Utah Senator William King — among the most renowned Mormons of his day — strongly backed legislation that could have saved Anne Frank and her family.
A very good article.

The people are dead, right?
Other than the usual religious tendency to annoy others, I’m not sure if post-mortem baptisms are binding. If that were true, have at it with Osama bin-Laden, make him a Presbyterian. 😉
However if there are people who buy into this type of malarkey, perhaps a counter circumcision of the dead campaign may keep the usurpers of the undead at bay. -

We’re gonna need a bigger can of Raid; or tub of butter.
It’s a stick insect, a critter that masquerades as a piece of wood, and the Lord Howe Island version was so large — as big as a human hand — that the Europeans labeled it a “tree lobster” because of its size and hard, lobsterlike exoskeleton. It was 12 centimeters long and the heaviest flightless stick insect in the world.

And still, the so-called Obama administration does nothing
Nothing can be done to prevent badgers disturbing human remains in a town cemetery, a council says.
There’s an RAF museum in Swindon that has a Lancaster on static display.

I confess I’m showing my ignorance here; but the confiscatory religion contends that the deceased Anne Frank and Mahatma Ghandi abandoned their faith post-mortem and
converted toaccepted a new one? Sort of like a religious free-agency?Or is it more like a draft or a trade? Perhaps the Hindu could trade Ghandi for a Messiah to be named later. 😉

Filed under, “Hmmmmmmmmmm” @ Hot Air:
Last August, while Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine, was in the midst of an intensive round of fundraising for her 2012 reelection bid, a four-year-old civil lawsuit alleging fraud by an education company in which she and her husband are heavily invested became public.
Nationally, most of the coverage of Snowe’s decision to drop her reelection bid has focused on the centrist Republican’s frustration with the polarized politics on Capitol Hill. But in Maine, a few newspapers have speculated that her husband’s legal entanglements had a role in Snowe’s sudden and surprising decision, which left her with more than $3 million in her campaign coffers and her party without a Senate candidate less than three weeks before the filing deadline for Maine’s June 12 primary.

but the confiscatory religion contends that the deceased Anne Frank and Mahatma Ghandi abandoned their faith post-mortem and converted to accepted a new one?
Ignorance indeed. Did you read the article? Here’s Jeff Jacoby’s appropriate response to those who took offense at Ann Frank’s proxy baptism:
For one thing, the Mormon church promptly apologized for the listing of Anne Frank and the others, and firmly reiterated its policy: “Proxy baptisms of Holocaust victims are strictly prohibited.” Leaping to take offense at something the church has unequivocally repudiated is cheap grandstanding.
I don’t know anything about Ghandi but Jacoby also wrote the following (bold mine):
More odious by far is the accusation that a posthumous “baptism” no Jew attaches any credence to is tantamount to a second genocide (“It’s like killing them twice”). What an ugly slander. Even to the most zealous Mormon, proxy baptism is simply the offering of a choice — it gives non-Mormons in the afterlife a chance to accept the gospel, should they wish to. You don’t have to buy the theology — I certainly don’t — to recognize that its message is benign.
Baptism by proxy does not make anyone a Mormon anymore than the great and eternal sacrifice performed by proxy by the Son of God makes everyone Christian until said people *choose* to accept Jesus and follow Him. Furthermore, proxy baptism is not at all about making people LDS. Proxy baptism does not reflect on statistics of the LDS Church other than a report saying said person’s work has been done.
Neither have I ever encountered anything anywhere that says that there are “Mormons” on the other side of that thin veil which separates mortality and immortality. Proxy baptism’s about providing all of God’s children the opportunity of coming unto Christ through covenant and fulfilling Christ’s own words that no one can enter into the kingdom of the Father except he be born of water and of spirit. The LDS take those words literally and seriously. No baptism = no eternal salvation. I know there are those where who would disagree with me and that’s fine. I’m merely sharing the LDS view on theology.
There are those who take deep offense over the LDS belief in post-mortem baptism and I found Jacoby’s article quite plain spoken about why some should not.
