Halloween Is Coming

You know what that means. Parents with young children can look forward to braving the crowds at Party City, WalMart, Target, or any of a number of other area stores to buy one of those cheap and cheesy costumes of Spideman, Cinderella, or whatever the hero(ine) du jour these days is. Or they can get some spare fabric, cardboard, duck tape, markers, glue, glitter, and other spare household items and make something with which to humiliate their children.

Here are ten ideas for you
, six or seven of which are pretty funny, if completely non-PC, the rest range from “yawn” to “Ewwww”.

Some of you are youngish and child-free and will be attending various Halloween parties. These parties feature many people who dress in costumes that might get them labeled as a slut any other day or are just plain wrong. There will be people who just went out and bought a Barack or Michelle Obama mask because their goal was to put in minimal effort to allow them into a party with the people in the slutty costumes. There will be those who just rent a costume. And then there will be the creative ones.

If you’re a couple, you can always go in some sort of couplesy costume (guys, this will score major points).

What was your favorite costume? What costume do you regret? Is there one you wish you had worn? Is there one you’d like do wear, but are too chicken?

Halloween is a major event here in the barrio even though there aren’t that many kids actually living here. Big traffic jams. We always run out of candy early no matter how much we buy. While not very original, the best costume last year was a 10 year old boy dressed as Elvis. He carried his guitar and actually played… Read more »

Good friends once went to a party dressed as a brick and a brick layer. They were husband and wife, and I don’t know who thought of the costumes, but it sure was clever.

We used to put on big Halloween Parties that were hugely popular with all our friends, neighbors and family. Biggest regrets; the Monica outfit with cigar accessory (and that pictures still exist) and the year I held the candy bowl, while laying on a table all bloody and lifeless until a customer arrived. 10 to 12 yrs older, I’m sure… Read more »

Yellow Hair and I went with another couple as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. We won the contest. I went as a “beauty queen” once. i had a beard at the time. It’s interesting seeing the neighbor kids and what they come up with. One took those single-serving boxes of cereal, stuck plastic knives in them, and taped them all… Read more »
