Some interesting climate-related modeling that makes a lot more sense than CO2levels in the atmosphere. It has to do with one of the drivers of solar output – orbital mechanics.
One interesting factoid: the four gas giant planets cause the sun’s center to move by up to a million miles one way or another, depending on their positions.
The key – I think – is that the million-mile solar orbit around the solar system barycenter (center of mass of the ss) is not simply elliptical; it makes a small and then a large orbit. This causes/represents a change in acceleration of the sun, which either kicks its output up or down, depending on what the change is.
The author opines that we’re heading for a cold spell.
n.b. – this is closely related to sunspots and the recent decline thereof.
n.b.2 – According to Algor, 2010 was the warmest temperature ever recorded ever (except for maybe 1934 or 1998). Apparently, if you look at ice core data, 2010 (or 1934 or 1998) is warmer than 1,401 out of the past 10,500 years.
n.b.3 – This cooling has been going on for quite some time.
Quite a long time…

Ron Paul 2012!!!!
Gingrich did not sign a GUN BAN into law, nor did he ever support one. I’ve no idea what who created this site but it’s the best I can come up with at the moment. Gingrich voted for the Lautenberg Gun Ban. And Gingrich voted for the “Gun Free School Zones Act”, making schools easier targets. It is this latter… Read more »
Gingrich’s colleagues were, however, right to bring his tenure to an end. His character flaws — his impulsiveness, his grandiosity, his weakness for half-baked (and not especially conservative) ideas — made him a poor Speaker of the House. Again and again he combined incendiary rhetoric with irresolute action, bringing Republicans all the political costs of a hardline position without actually… Read more »
I just wish y’all’s mano a mano was helping me make up my mind (for the tenth time).
I need to make a correction to the above. when I said: So let me get this straight: Romney is responsible for the most liberal piece of legislation signed by a governor in the past 20 years, but once he goes to Washington, he won’t do anything of the sort ever again—right? I should have said: So let me get… Read more »

Thanks.
And, like Joseph, I wasn’t even aware of the Kindle Singles product.
Although I do have to say that you’ve got a real interesting way of telling us why we should vote for Romeny:
“Vote for Mitt! He’s just as bad as Newt is!”
What Romney’s done on the state level, Gingrich’s done at tefederal level. Gingrich did not sign a GUN BAN into law, nor did he ever support one. The only other cheif executive in the last 40 years to sign a GUN BAN was Bill Clinton. The difference between Romney’s GUN BAN and Clinton’s GUN BAN was that Clintons’s GUN BAN… Read more »
What, no Tim Tebow on Baba Wawa’s list??
Amazing what a day of rest can do. i feel much better now. We just got back from our church’s Christmas party. We had yummy food, Santa for the kids, Christmas hymns and a manger scene all put on by the youth. It was a good evening. I’ll post pictures if I’m not too lazy to do so in the… Read more »
I agree. Everytime I try watching it I cannot understand a damn word they’re saying. 🙂
Hamous #53; From your link: Years later, when Gingrich was speaker, he followed his own advice. He refused to raise taxes, he made a political fight of spending cuts with Bill Clinton (paying a big price in personal smears run against him), but we won the historic balanced budgets. I’d say that that is absolutely Newt’s greatest strength as a… Read more »

WashTimes link here for the Joe Bottums article.
Sarge; What Romney’s done on the state level, Gingrich’s done at tefederal level. In general, Newt’s supported gun control as well as population control. Romneycare’s a disaster and should be spoken as such but he hasn’t done it on the federal level; nor do I think he will. Newt has supported federal healthcare ideas to get universal healthcare for all… Read more »
Just as everyone else starts taking time off, I am gearing up to work almost right through the holidays. It is “traditional” for software to have a release at the end of the year, so Decembers are always crazy-time for me. The project is behind schedule and probably won’t make the current deadline to have a release candidate ready for… Read more »
Just got back from my last class until next year. My, how time flies! It’s hard to believe the year is almost over. I did not see the WT article. I am astounded that the “mobile”‘version of WT has no search function, so I am unable to look for it.
(your link was actually to Amazon and not to the WT article)
Post the link if you can. Thanks.
The ‘last’ ST was this afternoon. Coincidence I reckon. Not that there have been or will be a lack of other ‘lasts’.
Not in a while.
Still check out the other site? The one where men in push up gear might appeal to the owner?

#66 – SD – Been out of pocket so don’t know about the power situation over at the Baitcamp. Heard about it on the radio. After Ike, I was one of the first ones to get turned back on, so I think I’m on a separate circuit (or whatever it’s called) from them. Thanks for asking.

Did you see this Washington Times story on Joseph Bottums’ Dakota Christmas short story ?
He expanded it and is selling it through Amazon. It’s No.1 on the Kindle Singles list.
El Gordo, if you’re lurking, were you/are you affected by the power outage in Clear Lake? NASA, JSC was turned off @ 4 PM. Mission Control is running on diesel generators, of course.
I was providing the information for future reference should you ever find yourself in Amsterdam on Monday night. Don’t come into your hotel room after partying with the Dutch (man those dudes can drink!), unable to sleep because of the jet lag, and expect to find a pleasant TV show in English.
German TV
German TV?
Ummmm…
It’s Wednesday (actually almost Thursday).
And I’ve decamped from Aberdeen to Hanover, neither of which is Amsterdam.
There are some questions to which nobody cares what the answer may be and I believe this is one of them.
Why Is a Dutch Company Using a Dude to Model Bras?
However, I am curious about the dress code down there where Hamous works.
So much for the “collegiality of the Senate” “They have attached a poison pill — literally, colleagues — because it will kill 8,100 more people more than would have otherwise been killed from pollution,” Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Cali.) said on the Senate floor today about Republicans trying to roll back a Clean Air Act provision. Republicans included a measure to… Read more »
Watch out in Amsterdam. Monday night is gay pR0n night.
German TV is horrible.
54 Hamous says: December 14, 2011 at 3:30 pm #52 Even the sycophantic liberal media are beginning to see the handwriting on the wall. Gore and Blood??? Really??? Couldn’t find a third author named Guts? LMAO.
College cheat and the man partially responsible for the death of SMU football says he may run for the Senate. I wonder if he’ll pay back taxes and penalties for all that illegal money and stuff he got back in the ’80s.
#52 Even the sycophantic liberal media are beginning to see the handwriting on the wall.
Interesting take on past and present Gingrich.
With about ten months to go I don’t think it is going to make a difference who the Republicans nominate if Obummer can’t change things around. There are way too many things that can happen to Obummer and his administration that will determine whether he is reelected or not. The scandals of Solyndra, Fast and Furious, the Supreme Court ruling… Read more »
From the president’s campaign monkey, David Axelrod: “Just remember the higher a monkey climbs on a pole, the more you can see his butt. So, you know, the speaker [Gingrich] is very high on the pole right now and we’ll see how people like the view.” There’s no sense pointing out the blatant hypocrisy at work in this statement so… Read more »
I can argue that?
I think I pretty dam well proved it.
Now you can argue that romney moved anything to the right besides the flower vase on the mantle.
The Republicans gained the majority, thanks in large part to gun owners outraged by the Clinton gun ban. And upon taking the reins of the House, Speaker Gingrich said famously that, “As long as I am Speaker of this House, no gun control legislation is going to move in committee or on the floor of this House and there will… Read more »

That’s because I don’t want the kind of Conservative we needed 30 years ago, I want the kind of Conservative that we need today.
