Now this is a tropic I can get my teeth into! Thanks, wagonburner.
Well it’s 67 degrees here, warmer than it was all day yesterday but no rain yet. They say most of the rain will be north of us but we’re hoping fro a little, a quarter inch would be better than nothing. BUT that arctic blast will be here by tomorrow and we’re gonna’ bust the bark for the rest of the week, highs in the 40’s until Saturday and it’s back to low 60’s.
OK let’s kick-start this week.
Mornin’ Gang -
28 degrees. No smileys!
-
Saturday night we met up with the kids for an early birthday for my wife. My son’s good friend and racing buddy had this Tumbler made for me for Christmas. Thought that was very kind, I love it.
-
That is neat!

Happy Monday fellow couch taters. I hope this is it for sub-freezing temps this year.
-
it’s 28 here also, but it will only reach 31 for a couple of hours today. Starting tonight we’ll have 15 to 25 mph steady winds for 72 hours. The early morning windchill temps will be 7 to 8 degrees. Fortunately, there is no snow or rain in the forecast over the next 10 days.
-
Just for grins, fill up a gallon milk jug with cool tap water and put it outside where it get unobstructed wind but little sun and see how long it takes to freeze solid.
-
-
It’s 27 here in the woods… they’re predicting the same for tomorrow morning… so we’ll prolly just leave the water off til it warms up a little more… knowing that all our water pipes run thru the attic which has ridge vents and soffit vents to keep it nice and cool makes us ultra careful
-
53 degrees here now that the front has passed through. 67 at 5 AM, 57 at 6:10 AM and heading to the mid 40’s about noon. AND I DON”T LIKE IT!
-
I saw a football playoff chart on Fox and the Texans are #4 in the AFC?!?! Ahead of the Steelers?! WTH?!?!
Shows how much I’ve been keeping up.-
They won a really crappy division which gives them the ranking.
-
-
It is 8F here in the Great White North. Going for 30 later today and then above freezing all week. Heck it may be warmer up here than it is for some of you folks. Put on a sweater.
-
Well you are certainly welcome to take it back anytime you get a mind to.

He started the fight in Britain against grooming gangs , way before anyone else.
He helped relocate girls who were abused and groomed to different countries , away from groomers.
He did this despite threats to personal safety.
He had no help from the Police or UK Government.
He is a hero.

Please read this article from VDH and ponder how we can even pretend to have rule of law if these people are not prosecuted. . .

Nick Freitas is a Green Beret combat veteran serving in the Virginia House of Delegates. This is a perfect summation of the Left in the West today.
The vast majority of Democrats voting against a bill to deport child molestors and rapists makes perfect sense once you realize the following:
“Woke” is not “hypersensitivity to bigotry.” It’s an inherently marxist worldview that assigns guilt, not based on the facts of a particular case, but on the intersectional grievance matrix of the parties involved.
While a sane human being is capable of concluding that any rape or molestation is horrific, the woke must first analyze the “power structures” of the parties involved to determine who they will side with.
In this case, the vast majority of Democrats in Congress determined that since “undocumented members of the community” (ie illegal immigrants) were involved, than victims of rape and child molestation did not have a sufficient “intersectional score” to justify a yes vote.
Essentially a rape or molestation conviction is not sufficient for Democrats to know who the truly guilty party is.
It’s only AFTER democrats know the sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation, “gender identity,” immigration and socioeconomic statues of both the victim and the perpetrator, that they can properly analyze whether or not the act of rape or molestation are worthy of deportation.
Now I’m old enough (45) to remember a time when pretty much everyone in the country would have found such reasoning both absurd and disgusting…but as we see, that is not the case anymore.
So…have you had enough yet?
Because the politicians and institutions pushing this ideological nonsense are about to pull out all the stops to preserve their power over the next 2 years.

Texas feral hogs make national news.
Not just one pig, but as many as ten, some of which are quite large and growing fast.
The City of Irving, which has hired a contractor with to handle the problem, and locals are finding makeshift ways to handle the issue on their own.
My first thought was, like, well, I can go shoot them,” Mendez tells the outlet.
“But I’m like, yeah, I’m in a neighborhood. I can’t just go out there and start blasting.”
Mendez, instead, has resorted to a slingshot and clapping two pieces of wood together in order to scare off the hogs.

Good Morning Britain is a program on a TV network in the UK. The media and government hacks are in an uproar over Elon Musk’s barrage of comments on X about the sordid, perverted corruption of the legal and political elites there. They decided to conduct a public poll assuming the British people would want Musk to shut up and stop “interfering” in their elections. Be careful what you ask for…
Should Musk Stay Out of British Politics ?
Yes – 34.2%
No – 65.8%

Dang I’m posting on the Weekend thread!? I guess that’s what you get for having two windows open. 😉

In other news Miss Alabama was named Miss America, yesterday.
Alabama Nursing Student and Cheerleader Crowned Miss America 2025: ‘So Grateful’
On Sunday, Dec. 5, Abbie Stockard, representing Alabama, was crowned Miss America after earning Miss Alabama in 2024.
According to CNN, the 22-year-old nursing student is an undergraduate and cheerleader at Auburn University in Alabama. She won at the annual event in Orlando, Florida, triumphing over 51 other US state representatives.
In a video shared on Miss America’s Instagram page, Stockard appeared flabbergasted as she was crowned the victor. Sporting a sparkly silver and white gown, she looked shocked as runner-up Annette Addo-Yobo, who represented Texas, hugged her.

Well my Baby Girl turns 40 today! DAYAAM I’m OLD! BTW; That shot was at a Jerry Seinfeld Show in Midland, fall of 2022.
-
Today is my wife’s BD as well! We’ll not mention her age lol.
-
I don’t recall this coming up before. Odd.
-
Yes I’ve mentioned her birthday in years past but you may have just missed it. I’ve sometimes wondered why folks didn’t seem to see or notice anything I say but I’ve also missed things others have posted so it just depends on when you drop by and if you scroll up/down. Lee from Down Under often reminds me that her mother and I share the same February 17 birthday.

Resembles you a bit.
Except on her it works.

About to head off to my post-op dental appointment. I assume we’ll be setting the schedule for the next dental mauling: remove the tenting screws and install two implants in my upper jaw.
While there, I’m going to have Dr. Lucena look at two more teeth. They are top & bottom paired (one of the few I have left) and next to surgical sites; i.e. no teeth next to them on one side. I’ve taken to chewing as best I can on the left side, because now THOSE two teeth feel “weak” and about to break.
I can’t win for losing when it comes to my teeth.

Here’s the link to today’s C&C.
Good morning, C&C, it’s Monday, Certification Day! T-minus fourteen days; in other words, only two more painful but increasingly exciting weeks. In today’s roundup: Certification Day is finally here; Trump allies seek single bill to kick start Trump agenda; typical trans sports story includes hints of bigger movement afoot among young women; the great British Pedophile Show casts doubt on Britain’s ability to survive as an organized state; and great news from our northern neighbor as covid tyrant Trudeau poised to tumble in shame and disgrace.

A tale of 2 Eggs. SO yesterday I was fetching eggs from my wife’s hens and noticed that one was rather large compared to the rest. The smaller one is from a Dominique Hen and the other from a White Rock. I’ll add that I have large hands to help with the dimensions. I’m thinking that the larger one might be a double yolker…. Oh did I mention that the White rock was walking knida’ funny?
-
You gotta read the C&C today. What’s been happening in Britain is horrifying.

Stop the Presses! Trudeau Resigns!
Canada’s embattled PM Justin Trudeau to step down as party leader.
Justin Trudeau said Monday that he will resign as the leader of Canada’s ruling Liberal Party, in an announcement that will fire the starting gun on a contest to replace him as prime minister.
Trudeau, who swept to power in late 2015 and has governed for nine years, told reporters in Ottawa that he would step down after his party selects a new leader.
The departure of the beleaguered prime minister follows growing calls for his resignation from inside his own party, with the Liberals lagging behind the opposition Conservative Party in opinion polls and internal battles raging over his handling of President-elect Donald Trump.
That pressure culminated with the resignation of Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland last month. Freeland, who was also the finance minister, quit unexpectedly citing concerns over the Trudeau administration’s relatively cooperative approach to the incoming Trump administration’s plan to increase import tariffs on Canadian goods by 25%.

It cannot be posted too many times !

It only takes slightly more than a minute.
There has been a lot of talk and debate about slander and law in America of late. There has also been a lot of legal litigation in the courts. The ruling opinion by SCOTUS affecting all of this is the New York Times vs Sullivan case. Plenty of people would like to see it overturned. South Texas School of Law prof Josh Blackman and legal scholar Randy Barnett explain it in one minute and seventeen seconds.

Caroline Glick has a large quote in this column from Legal Insurrection. The most evil part of this is Blinken knew every time he and Biden put pressure on Israel, Hamas backed out of negotiations on hostages. They knew and did it anyway because they never gave a damn about the hostages, even the American ones.
U.S. Secretary of State Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, on Saturday made a stunning admission explaining how U.S. pressure on Israel emboldened the terrorist group Hamas and made it toughen its stance on the issue of hostage release.
Whenever there was open disagreement between the U.S. and Israel, Hamas backtracked on hostage release, the outgoing secretary of state acknowledged.
“Whenever there has been public daylight between the United States and Israel and the perception that pressure was growing on Israel,” he said an interview with The New York Times. “[W]e’ve seen it: Hamas has pulled back from agreeing to a ceasefire and the release of hostages.”

IDF destroyed this very large and sophisticated underground missile assembly and launching site in Syria.
DECLASSIFIED: In September 2024, before the fall of the Assad Regime, our soldiers conducted an undercover operation to dismantle an Iranian-funded underground precision missile production site in Syria.

Can’t ever have too much of this.

The wooden sunny is incapable of standing trial and everyone knows he’s a vegetable but he’s still allowed to pass out executive orders like candy on Halloween.

Oh my!

That was,…well,….stimulating. 😉

Good news on the dental front. It seems that the weak feeling teeth are just lonely and a bit overworked. As soon as they get new neighbors, they should be just fine.
I’m the meantime, I’m to pamper then a bit, feed them friendly food, try not to overdo it on that side, and tuck them in with warm jammies and a cup of milk as I read them a bedtime story.

There are just really good folks out there.

There is always hope and this happened in California no less.
Ryan Starling told Fox News Digital that the loss of his daughter’s varsity spot disrupted his entire family emotionally, as cross-country played a pivotal role in her life. And then when his daughter and other girls on the team confronted their school administrators about it, he claims they were told “transgenders have more rights than cisgenders.”
but,
Taylor and Kaitlyn ignited a viral trend in their communities when they showed to school in November wearing shirts that read “Save Girls Sports.” Martin Luther King administrators allegedly confronted the girls about the shirts, comparing them to swastikas, according to their lawsuit against the district.
and then,
It became a weekly ritual for hundreds of students every Wednesday to show up wearing the shirts support of the girls and their messaging, and many of them created viral social media posts on it.
In early December, the school administrators gave up on their efforts to discipline students for wearing the shirts. Sources told Fox News Digital that more than 400 students have shown up wearing the shirts at a time, and students at other schools in the district have started to wear them to class.

The bad news is that trudope is not leaving right away. There will be a leadership race, 2 months, then with luck he will be gone. The good news is with parliament paroged he can’t do to much damage, unlike Bidumb.

I stopped by St. Joseph’s, where I’ll be holding my rosary making class on Saturday. I met the lady there, reviewed the room situation, and got the logistics on entry, etc., cleared up. I think I’m going to pull out a thank you card for all of my attendees to sign, since St. Jo’s is allowing us to use their space.
Then I stopped off to see Hubby at the shop and give him a review of my morning. Came home and put a whole tray of chicken thighs (Hubby’s fave) and burger patties (for my meals) in the oven. I ate what didn’t go into the oven and I should be good until tomorrow.
I will say, I’m wearing out my stupid hat. First, hurting my back. Next, the grease burn, which is peeling nicely, thank you very much. Today, I parked at the dental college, and had to go about five rows in to find a spot. Usually I can find a vacancy in the first row or two. Since walking distances is still quite an iffy situation for me, I wasn’t happy, but I gathered up the crutches, my pillow (for my back in the dental chair), and my backpack-turned-purse for the day. I trekked four rows, getting close to the street crossing, and realize I left my parking ticket in the car. I need that, since I have to pay on my way back to the car after my appointment. Facepalming furiously, I reverse direction to retrieve the ticket. Get back almost to the first location of revelation, and realize I left my backpack-purse in the car. Turn around again. This time I see two cars pull out, so I jumped into my car and became the proud owner of a row two parking spot. I figgered that could be important later, depending on the back.
So, for the third time, and make my way back across the parking lot and this time I have everything I need. I was feeling my back tightening up, so I’m glad I moved the car.

Well it’s 42, bright and sunny with a light breeze out of the north so it feels like about 20 degrees. That sunshine sure is deceiving.
-
Oh how the political landscape has changed since the 1976 Carter victory.

Dixiecrats. 😉

Harris officially acknowledges she lost:

You know that had to stick in her craw. I’ll bet there’s lotsa alcohol waiting for her offstage.

Clay Travis said that she broke the glass ceiling by being the first black female to preside over her own Ass Whooping. 😀

I’m just now reading this; PRICELESS!

Nixon had to certify the 1960 votes for Kennedy and Al Gore had to certify the votes for for GW Bush. When Nixon beat Hubert Humphrey in 1968, VP Humphrey recused himself and the Senate President Pro Tempore Senator Michael Mansfield of Montana presumably did the deed.

Shannon’s maps at this 3:09 PM link are pretty astounding even though I lived through it all. People always look at me weird when I say I am a Jimmy Carter Republican until I explain I was raised in a liberal Democratic family until I got red-pilled by Jimmah.
-
The election maps show what happened to the Democrat party really, particularly Texas. Still surprising even though we lived it as Texpat said.
Beef stew just about ready, cornbread in a skillet is done. Hungry!

UpChuck Schumer gets exposed as the vile, lying, psychopathic, venal, $#!tbucket he is. It is hard to watch the 4 minute or so clip and not want to assault the screen on which it appears. He aspires to be a sleezeball, and all this was brought to clarity by a leftist bird of a feather ‘journalist.’

Back between 1977 and the end of 1980, I had a wholesale business in Dallas. I was in my 20s and it was my first real company. I didn’t pay attention to politics because I was so busy. The next thing I knew inflation was spiraling out of control, Carter was flipping out and then he ordered credit card companies like Visa, Amex and Mastercard to cap everyone’s charge limits – personal or commercial. It was devastating. A huge portion of my clients were small business people who financed their inventories on credit cards. Jimmy Carter wiped out my customers and my business. I lost a quarter of a million dollars and came down to Houston with a couple hundred dollars to my name. I swore I would never, ever not pay very close attention to politics and the bastards in charge of it.
-
He also finished off General Aviation, the lawyers and FAA built the pine box coffin for GA and Jimmy drove the last nails in. Cessna stopped making all their single engine airplanes except the big 210 and didn’t start back again for 20 years.
When I left Wichita for Texas in 82 I turned out the lights before I left.

35 here now and it’ll be in the high 20’s by daylight. Although the cloud cover that moved back in may help out a little.
