Dang it, I just realized that today is the anniversary of Japan Bombing Pearl Harbor.  Much has been written about the various destroyers and battleships that were destroyed on that fate filled day.  I have one question that I have never seen addressed.  Where was the Dread Naught USS Texas on December 7, 1941?

Battleship Texas in Casco Bay, Maine

THE BATTLESHIP TEXAS FOUNDATION answers that question:

When the Second World War broke out in Europe in 1939, Battleship Texas was assigned to neutrality patrol, escorting merchant ships across the Atlantic. When Japan attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941, Battleship Texas was in Casco Bay, Maine, preparing for her next patrol. With the United States now officially at war with the Axis powers, Texas continued her patrols until late 1942, when she took part in Operation Torch – the Invasion of French North Africa.
Operation Torch, the Invasion of French North Africa on November 8th, 1942, was the first major combat seen by Battleship Texas. Texas supported the attack on Port Lyautey, Morocco, where the Army sought to take over a strategic air field. After three days of fighting, the operation was a success and French North Africa was brought back into the war on the side of the Allies.

As a greater man than me used to say, “Now you know the rest of the story”.

RE: Shannon’s 3:48 AM post of the 2024 Budweiser Superbowl commercial

I forgot to mention how cool it was Budweiser used Levon Helm’s song, The Weight, as the theme of the ad. Robbie Robertson stole the credit for that and a number of songs from Levon Helm, including The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down. Robertson is, by most accounts, a SOB.

I am just sitting down. the Catholic Daughters hosted a reception after mass since today is a big Marian feast day, The Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Once I finished there, I came home, Hubby gave me the late lunch spot for the VW club so I could join them. They gave away Christmas gifts today. So I hopped back into my car and joined them. Home again, and I am tuckered out. I didn’t sleep well, being a little wired from the sale price of my rosaries last night.

So, gonna lay down for a bit…

Once again pollsters lie.

poles are for fishing and polls are for phishing.

The kenyan rated 2nd best? The hell?

worst president in history is the demonic Kenyan and his third term is almost over.

the wooden dummy wasn’t the worst because he was never president anyway.

just a sock puppet on the Kenyan’s hand.

I was finished with the Brits a long time ago. As the the entire law enforcement apparatus and government ignored the organized, systematic rape and grooming of minor teenage British girls by Muslim hordes.

When they’re all hanging from London’s bridges I’ll cry nary a tear for them.

This is exactly why the United Kingdom is dead. Watch this man being arrested for offending somebody on Facebook.

There is no Anglo-American Pact anymore. We have to distant ourselves from these people.

Diversity !!! Equity !!! Inclusion !!! Councilwoman Tania Fernandes Anderson, who broke the glass ceiling by becoming the first former African illegal alien and Muslim woman to serve on the Boston City Council, now became the first African Muslim illegal alien councilwoman to be arrested for kickbacks. and, Much as I want to take shots at Anderson, a BLM supporter who called the Hamas atrocities of Oct 7, a “military operation”, this if anything shows that Muslim illegal aliens are adapting to the political culture of Boston. If a Boston councilmember weren’t running a kickback scheme involving family members, that would… Read more »

Trump sat down with seahag and propagandist extraordinaire, Kristen welker.

after that debate a couple of months ago I have no idea why he’d give her or her network the time of day. What a snake she is. The Kammunist’s sorority sister.

notice how the totalitariancrat propagandist media always defends the totalitariancrats and notice she wants Trump to say 2020 wasn’t stolen because they say so.

wahhhh.

but the 2020 election was the most secure election ever because we said so with 0% proof it was.

Syria is [was?] home to two major Russia military installations: an air base in Hmeimim and a naval base in Tartus. The latter is Russia’s only warm-water naval base and provides Moscow access to the Mediterranean Sea.

Didn’t watch the ag vs Texas game last week just watched an eleven minute highlight reel on the net. after reading some comments it appears there were numerous ag fans who were displeased with a few zebra calls. the officiating was bad when I quit football about 5 years ago and it appears it’s worse than ever now. if you can’t get a better crew than they had in last night’s championship game it’s time to hang it up ncaa. not mention the horrible espn coverage of the game. pat summeral and Tom brookshire would be ashamed of that coverage.… Read more »

Ed Morrisey at HotAir posted this early yesterday before it was confirmed Assad was a goner. It’s a pretty good recap of Syrian recent history and what might happen soon. There’s also the great Zen Master clip from the movie, Charlie Wilson’s War. Houston’s own Joanne Herring who was portrayed by Julia Roberts in the movie is still alive at 95 years. Iran’s bugging out of Syria! Good news? We’ll see.For the optimists, this looks very promising indeed. Iran didn’t just prop up Bashar al-Assad out of brotherly friendliness, after all. With Assad in charge, and especially with Iraq available for… Read more »

In 2022, 702,880 people died from heart disease. That’s the equivalent of 1 in every 5 deaths.

Every year, about 805,000 people in the United States have a heart attack. Of these, 605,000 are a first heart attack, and 200,000 happen to be people who have already had a heart attack.

My @11:39 Sadly Cindy Morgan passed away in December 2023 at age 69. She was the same age as me but I found this strange;

Morgan was found dead of natural causes at her home in Lake Worth Beach, Florida, on December 30, 2023, at the age of 69. She had last been seen alive on December 19 and had made a final social media post on her personal Facebook page on December 25, 2023.

Died of natural causes at 69? No mention of any illness.

I’ve been so frustrated this year with Google Maps. Like the search engine itself Maps seem to get worse and worse. The labeling of major thoroughfares and geopolitical borders difficult to make out if they appear at all. I decided to search “large detailed map of Israel” in DDG and turned up some good examples.

The southern slopes of Mount Hermon (hur-moan) are called the Golan Heights, mentioned so often in the news.

Israel’s Army Radio reported Sunday that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had seized the peak of Mount Hermon, the highest mountain in the region, as a precaution against the advance of Syrian rebels as the Assad regime collapsed.

The mountain, covered in snow during the winter months, is the highest in the region, and a key strategic point. Israel has a military base on the mountainside, but Syria has long had a military base on the peak of the mountain itself.

Clydesdale’s and a Yellow Lab in the snow. Now that is hard to beat. That is one of their best. Shannon is up early and I slept late, I didn’t get up until 5, not sure why except that it was warm in the bed.
We’re a little warmer here @ 36 but we’ll be in the mid 60’s and sunny so that’s good. Well the coffee pot finished up before I sat down so I’ll be needing a cup.

Good morning. Doing charity auctions was always the most fun. Texpat would sell and I would be the ring man. At the height of the Spuds Mackenzie craze, we had saved a stuffed, 2 foot Spuds Mackenzie Doll for the last lot. We got these two women (who were feeling no pain at that point) in a bidding war for Spuds. The venue had really slick floors, so I had pulled off my boots and was running back and forth between the two bidders, sliding “home” with Spuds right into their personal space. Back and forth, hootin’ and hollering’. Good… Read more »

I just got back from a Knights of Columbus dance at my old parish. It was a chance to see some friends, do some line dancing, make some new little kid acquaintances, and take my chances on a half and half raffle. I brought two of my “special stash” rosaries and donated them to the Knights, and Joe asked me to officiate the auctioning off of said rosaries. The proceeds from the auction would be split between the Knights and the Parish. I thought they’d go for about $50-$60 each. They went for $125 and $175. I was floored. I… Read more »

By the way, the Syrian Assad regime has fallen according to Israeli TV. The UN is supposedly organizing a council of the five different factions fighting each other and Assad for control. Oh wuhpee do ! Members of Assad’s family are already in Moscow and I expect Bashar al-Assad will be there by Monday morning too. If this guy wasn’t so stupid he could’ve played a strong hand and survived, but Bashar simply doesn’t have the brainpower. He had all kinds of options to make coalitions with different parties and to reach an agreement with Israel like Jordan has done.… Read more »

But Slippery Rock thumped them 31-13 today in the Division II Super Region One Championship.

California is a borough on the Monongahela River in Washington County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 5,479 as of the 2020 census. – Wiki

No guarantees I’ll be rooting for Georgia.

As far as I’m concerned it’s Texas and the Aggies against the world – especially those teams situated east of Louisiana.

Rigged all the way.
it ended just how the ncaa wanted it to end.

been a long while since I attempted to watch a game from the start and the refs immediately jumped in and sucked great big globs of greasy grimy gopher guts.

texas had 260 yards and just 3 points to Georgia 45 yards and 0 points in the first half.
the gopher gut eaters were the best defense for Georgia. Killed several drives with bs penalties.

wont ever waste my time watching any of that sh@t again.
