#147 Shannon: John the Baptist is a true evangelical, pointing sinners to Christ, Whereas Billy Graham is not a true evangelical because he preaches that the sinner saves himself by choosing to let Jesus become Lord of his life. I’m not sure where you got this, but the author obviously spent very little time actually listening to or reading the… Read more »
Why? There couldn’t possibly be manure in a government stable.
In the Drudge link about Starbucks being penalized $75K by the EEOC for firing the dwarf — WHY did they hire her in the first place — http://www.elpasotimes.com/ci_18707661 told employers during a training that she could use a stool or stepladder to do her job. Zoom ahead a year or two, as Starbucks is sued by some jake-leg lawyer for… Read more »

I like comment 8:
That is a very good point.
Just to Keep the Rules Clear…
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS), more commonly known as the “Mormon” church, is a religion derived from Christianity that traces its origins to Joseph Smith. Founded by Smith in 1830 C.E. in New York, Mormonism developed as a sectarian movement in a turbulent period of American religious history. Joseph Smith claimed to have been called by… Read more »
One of the most profound changes Luther made in the rituals of Christianity was in the sacraments. Lutherans have two, in contrast to the seven of Roman Catholicism, and the theology used to understand what they mean differs significantly from the sacramental theology both of Roman Catholicism and of other Protestant denominations. The most obvious rite in Lutheranism, as in… Read more »
John Kerry voted for Lutheranism before he voted against Lutheranism.
“Ceremonies”? 😳
“Rites”? 😳
Ummmm, “ordinances”? 😳
Rituals?
no no no
Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Enough for one day.
Out.
Didn’t Al Gore invent Lutherans?
#147; Let’s add this to the mix: We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth. Article of Faith #6 And this would definitely apply: An evangelical is not one who preaches about faith, but rather one who preaches Christ crucified for the sins of the world, pointing… Read more »
Well,…at least she has a GOAL.

In my best Jed Clampett voice,…..Pittyfull,….Just Pittyfull

Yeah, but technically only two. Baptism and Eucharist.
Anglicans are with the Catholics with seven.
Yep. We’re really similar.
Except for the explosive vestments.
I didn’t realize Lutherans recognized the Sacraments similarly to Catholics. Hmmm.

Heh.
.
Imma old time AnglicanCathoLutheran.
Wow. I’m an Evangelical. Who knew?
That line of thought would cause some Pentecostal heads to asplode.
Well WTF! I just saw on the news that some lady captured a Bobcat in a cage because it was being a nuisance in some neighborhood and she called the animal control folks and they said that the Bobcat was too aggressive and needed to be euthanized, so a cop showed and shot him! He was aggressive because he is… Read more »
This guy explains the difference between Lutheran and Protestant. Keep in mind he does not speak for all modern Lutherans — this is old time Lutheran stuff . I agree with him. Evangelical but not Protestant An evangelical is one who preaches the Gospel. Thus Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are called the four evangelists. An evangelical is not… Read more »
Lutherans are the most terrifying kind. 😯
BTW Shannon: I tried to tell him there ain’t no simple answer. But he kept pushing. That I do disagree with. While Catholicism is a very detailed religion all I wanted to know is if good works is essential for salvation. If I asked the Pope that question I highly doubt his answer would be “maybe, maybe not”. Nor would… Read more »
#141 – oh horse hockey – you always protestin SOMFIN Bootzso!!!
🙂
That means he’s a terrorist.
Just having fun with you Darren. I knew you were. Getting teased assures me that I’m loved. Besides, I actually liked all the answers you gave me when I asked you queations. They were always straight to the point. I’m just very easy person to confuse. And by the way. I’m a Lutheran, not a Protestant. Heh. Luther was the… Read more »
Just having fun with you Darren.
And by the way. I’m a Lutheran, not a Protestant.
(That oughtta really give him something to ponder.) 🙂
mharper #98; Is one of these two words the one-word answer you were looking for in your earlier question? I am so confused. Heh. A better post to Shannon would have been: Best. Response. Ever. I always get confused when I learn something new. Therefore I like simple answers and I’ll inquire further if there’s more an issue that I… Read more »
further to my #132 above, they even change the way that they calculate the numbers from when W was pres to make them look not as bad. They have really changed since 1932, my understanding is that if we used the same methods to calculate unemployment as in 1932 the rate would be somewhere north of 25%.
Wagon; Maybe, maybe not. God made the world and the rules and he gets to make that call. And I am 100% ok with that. I agree. See above. I really need a Catholicism for Dummies (and please don’t send me to a Protestant 😉 ). When I restate questions it’s for further clarity, not to reread what I previously… Read more »
#136 You’ve been out of touch for a while. We have a new bogeyman around these parts 😉
Shannon, when all else fail, blame it on Benzion.

I tried to tell him there ain’t no simple answer.
But he kept pushing.
I decided it was your responsibility to straighten him out. 🙂
Or Hammie’s.
Or Tedtam’s
I’m just a lowly Lutheran. Terrorist.

And if that doesn’t work (it doesn’t on my company-managed Win7 which seems to block that action somehow) — then just paste in the URL.
Well, those new unemployment claims will sure help tomorrow’s market! We are only down 1,734 since July 21st’s close. We will now have to substitute the term coffin nails to mean the DOW average instead of cigarettes….at least for Obama.
#124 Unexpectedly indeed.

I thought Brian Hyland did itsy bitsy when he was 16, and didn’t have another hit until Sealed With A Kiss.

The Left won’t get any traction from this issue. It’s been widely reported for several years that more Americans believe in haunted houses than in MMGW.

I’m not gonna be so presumptuous as to make that kind of judgement.

We have a winner!!!!!!!!!!!!
#120 I’ve been led to believe the answer is 42. Is that considered one word?
/sound of loud, annoying buzzer.
“maybe, maybe not” does not qualify as a one word answer.
Boy, Perry’s been in the race a few days and the eco-Marxists are coming unglued: Perry has pronounced that he will not watch Al Gore’s slide show on climate change. What if someday he decides he will not hear the security briefings from the CIA? What if he decides to stop listening to the people at the Federal Reserve? Is… Read more »
