Sitting here sleepless in Bellville at 2am, watching an extraordinary 2013 Joe Cocker concert in Cologne, Germany on my phone. Lo and behold I look up and the Reverend Peter Popoff is on the TV selling the Miracle Spring Water. I can’t stop laughing…I think I hurt my back laughing. Here’s to ya Hammie. I hope you’re laughing with me.… Read more »
Just like the sun over the mountaintop You know I’ll always come again You know I love to spend my morningtime Like sunlight dancing on your skin I’ve never gone so wrong As for telling lies to you What you see is what I’ve been There is nothing I could hide from you You see me better than I can … Read more »
It’s late, and I may repost this tomorrow. Another lecture on demonology from my fave, Fr. Ripperger. If you can handle the length and the topic, he makes some rather pithy yet accurate comments on today’s politics and society, and the breakdown of thereof. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4Aq7WGIhzA
This is going to be an interesting weekend. I’m putting up my Raccoon Bend friend in my house. Believe it or not, he lives in the farthest West reaches of Center Point’s region. Who knows how long it will take for them to worry about restoring power to a tiny, ancient, all-poor, black, oilfield community in Austin County? Then, I’m… Read more »
It is just pouring outside right now. Hubby was prepping and cleaning his car for the show tomorrow. Ah, well…at least he got to lay hands on his mistress.
I watched Blue Bloods from the beginning and while I had some criticisms about Donnie Wahlberg and never thought he was the right actor for the role, I always really loved the show. It was classic Leonard Goldberg, the Babe Ruth of television entertainment. Aaron Spelling was Mickey Mantle and Dick Wolf is Willie Mays.
I tried to call Harper last night and got no answer. I did ask Shannon to try and call her. I have an out of town number and she probably wouldn’t answer my call anyway.
We have sunlight shining through high white clouds and below that a mist floating above the ground that slightly softens the view around the neighborhood. It likely won’t last long but provides a lovely scene.
I Don’t know if there are any other Blue Bloods fans in this group, but I found an article today that explained how the series is set up this year. This is Season 14, which will be the last one. The Season is split into two Parts. Season 14 – Part 1 (which was 10 episodes) is ending tonight. Season… Read more »
I can appreciate what Mrs. Harper went through after yesterday’s fall. When a fall happens, the first thing to do is take time to think where you are and assess what happened before trying to get up. That gives time to check a pain source and to rest long enough to get your wits about you. And then you can… Read more »
We were very fortunate to get power back last night around 8pm. Must be because a large substation is only a few miles or so away from us or the large outage was much farther to the north of us.
The picture of the fallen powerline is indeed scary. Those things are enormous and must weigh tons.
Power is still out at Casa Bonecrusher, DANGIT. I read something from Centerpoint stating that some areas could be without power for weeks. What a lovely way to end a beautiful trip.
Finally talked to Harper. Her phone hasn’t worked until now. Lots of tree damage. She went out to check the front yard very late afternoon and managed to fall in the mud. And couldn’t get herself upright, so scooted on her bottom – dodging debris – all the back to the back door and back in the house. Pretty worn… Read more »
I finished some painting. There have been marks on the ceiling above my hanging pantry since Hubby & Co. installed the shelves years ago. For some reason, they’ve been driving me nuts lately, so I finally remembered to buy a small can of paint and retrieve one of our paint brushes. Those marks are now memories. While at it, I… Read more »
This map is interesting. It seems that if you are older, or have attained higher education degrees, or are female, you have absolutely lost your freakin’ mind. Try clicking on the filters. I was pleasantly surprised at the Hispanic numbers, and somewhat encouraged by the Afro numbers. Not nearly as blue as I thought.
Someone just pulled up to the Donald Trump hush money trial outside Manhattan Criminal Court in a UHaul and released dozens of pink balloons in the shape of male genitalia with the faces of DA Alvin Bragg, Judge Juan Merchan, and Special Counsel Jack Smith on them.
From Mr. C. – a strategy I’d never considered: Cohen quietly and confidently admitted all his previous lies when asked. Those admissions were the main reason the legal analysts called what happened “devastating.” But they missed the point. Alvin Bragg deployed a high-risk strategy I’ll call, “the prodigal son.” Cohen sounded and acted like a recovering alcoholic.Bragg’s closing argument will be… Read more »
Here’s the roundup: Good morning, C&C, it’s finally Friday! Technology problems prevented a proper roundup this morning, and it’s probably for the best, given the character of yesterday’s news, as you will soon see. I blame solar flares. In today’s rapid roundup: Trump Trial update as Michael Cohen swirls the drain along with Alvin Bragg’s entire trial; congressional catfight raises… Read more »
I didn’t sleep but a few hours again last night, so after touring the garden, picking two beans and restaking some plants, I came inside and laid down to rest for a bit. An hour later…. So after I woke up, I made some egg salad with some of my homemade pickles. I really like this recipe and if I… Read more »
With all of the losses that I – and all of us – have experienced lately, I’ve come to the conclusion that our lives are measured in pains gained and friends lost, and when we reach our number, it’s our turn.
I guess thinking about it is NOT going to make joining his family as we lay my singing partner from church to rest any easier… knowing that we’ll see him again does help… SIGH
I checked out Texpat’s @ 9:12, Daniel Greenfield’s piece and it is worth a read. This caught my attention; That’s why Truman insisted on ending Chiang Kai-Shek’s repression of Communists in China, why Carter bailed out the Islamists in Iran and why, based on this stunning track record, we decided that the only way to stop terrorism in Israel was… Read more »

We survived the storm last night with only 1.89″ of rain, so we must have been on the edge of the main event. Our power came back on after about 45 minutes last night and stayed on. We would do well to consider the scriptures in light of the massive storm south Texas/Houston suffered. Some will say i am crazy, I say God is warning the United States. Do they sell the Miracle Spring Water by the gallon?

Two brothers. Two different viewpoints.
He’s had something against Wahlberg from the get-go.
I think he may be the best character on the show.
C’est la Vie
The rain has left us for the past few hours. Suppose it is done here for the night. Had only .07 today so we are not a swamp.
It is just pouring outside right now. Hubby was prepping and cleaning his car for the show tomorrow. Ah, well…at least he got to lay hands on his mistress.
Wow. That one was close!
Getting more thunder here. Tomorrow is the Bay Area VW Club Monumental Car Show at El Jardin Park in Deer Park.
Lotsa soft ground. It could get quite messy.
