As I was stumbling through the ‘net, I found this page: National Museum of Funeral History.
It may be a little uncomfortable for some of the Couch denizens, but it’s interesting that Houston has small museums and attractions like this. The Orange Show isn’t far from where I live. I probably should make the time to see it. I’ve been to the Health Museum and found it interesting. The 1940 Air Terminal Museum is at Hobby Airport, and I’ve been in that one. A friend of mine had her daughter’s wedding reception there, and we were able to see all of the exhibits, which were very interesting. There is also the Holocaust Museum, which I’ve also visited. I was impressed by the docents there who could explain everything. For art and/or car enthusiasts, there is the Art Car Musem.
There is also a museum in the base of the San Jacinto Monument. We won’t be having our annual Bay Area VW Club Monumental Car Show there this year. We’ve moved to a El Jardin Park ever since new folks took over the Monument site and made things immensely more difficult to hold our shows there. But everyone seems to like the park and the adjacent beach.
And there’s a boat tour of the Houston Ship Channel. Something I’ve thought about doing through the years but keep forgetting or putting off. And the Boliver Ferry – always a fun ride!
I think I take a lot for granted. It’s so much easier to gritch and groan about politics instead of getting off my butt to see and do the interesting and wonderful things I have handy. I take it all for granted.
