Okay we have a new commenting system. There are a lot of new toys in here. I do not delude myself, not everyone will be happy with the settings I have installed. All I can do is find a happy medium. Following is a list of things you are going to discover.
-
You no longer need to reload your browser to see new comments.
-
New comments load automatically
- Look to the left and you will see a floating ball that gives the total of comments. When a new comment is posted you will see a ball in the ball with the number of new comments.
- the new comments come in automatically and are highlighted.
- New comments will be at the top. You will thank me for this when there are several comments.
- The comment box will always be at the top. I cannot change that.
- We now have threaded comments. Yes I know some people hate it. the thread can only go for 6 comments. These collapse so they are ignored if you desire.
- Hover over your comment and just lower right there is a sprocket with an edit button.
- There is a “reply to” button under every comment. This way you can reply directly to a comment.
- At the top of the comments to the right there is a NEWEST/OLDEST drop down list. Pick one and that is how the comments will be listed.
- You can rate comments. (This may not last long)
- Comments are automatically “READ MORE” after 40 words. I did this in memoriam of ******, who used to drive me nuts with his long comments he would drop right in the middle of quiet discussion between 3 or 4 people. THIS FUNCTION IS NON-NEGOTIABLE.
- There is an automatic spell check
- And a reminder: No need to hit the refresh button. New comments will load for you about 1 minute after the author posts their comment.
There are other functions. I still have work to do on the whole blog. When I get done I know that all the parts fit together because they are all WORDPRESS products. That last theme burned me bad. ENJOY
Shannon,
I see the state flag.

I always vote early because unlike Democrats I can’t vote if I’m dead.
I was going through to clean out my phone contact list and was surprised at how many deceased friends and acquaintances I need to delete. It was a sad thing.
Lost another Carmel Light this evening, a friend from my old parish. It was sudden and unexpected. We’ve been watching him over the past years, as it seemed he was in in mental decline. He was taking care of his wife, a rather odd duck but he loved her. She has had constant medical issues with her gut and whatnot… Read more »
Screwed around and did not early vote, so will tomorrow. Some reason I kinda like voting Election Day, but that’s not the reason I procrastinated, purposely anyhow.

OH HELL NAHHH. LOL
Seventy comments. All’s you gotta do is blow up the blog I guess. Whatdaya think Squawk, do this every couple months or so?

Ah, growing pains.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, March 4th, is Judgement Day in Austin, Texas. They will either choose a normal, reasonable new District Attorney for Travis County or they will follow this Soros-funded Jose Garza into the pits of hell. The old Texas Monthly hand, Joe Nocera, came back to Texas to write the story. It took a new resident, A New York City… Read more »
I will put together a fast and nasty email in the next day or so and get you guys up to speed on the new dash board.
I was trying to create a Friday OC and decided to blow it off. I am completely lost inside the dashboard now because it is totally different now when drafting a New Post. I’m out of the Posting business until someone shows me why maneuvering inside the Dash is completely different. It is even possible that I accidentally deleted Texpat’s… Read more »
Y’all have a nice night. I am going to bed.

I cannot believe that Oberman is allowed unchained and outside of a rubber room.
Keith Oberman had a bad day.

SCOTUS ruled tonight to revive the stay against Governor Abbott’s law to arrest illegal aliens that the Fifth Circuit decided against. Abbott deserves plenty of criticism, but any honest critic has to admit Abbott changed the whole game when he started busing and flying illegals to New York City, Martha’s Vineyard and Chicago. No single person in America but Greg… Read more »
Be very careful about blindly following Trump endorsed candidates. I know it’s difficult for presidential candidates to properly vet everybody running in every one of the 435 congressional seats, but this hypocritical SOB needs to be canned and hard. Editor Paula Bolyard at PJMedia writes: Moreno, who former President Trump has endorsed, joined Michael Hudak on his podcast “Fortify Your… Read more »
Hello Hamsters, Am poking around trying to figure out how this all works, little by little. Delighted that SCOTUS did a fast commentary on the Colorado folks’ wanting to remove Mr.Trump from their presidential primary election list. Fast as they could, the Supremes voted 9-0 and threw that in the trash can. Hope the Turkeys who tried that are bruised!… Read more »

Heh.
So, if your comment is extended by Read More, the hyperlink isn’t “live” until the Read More is clicked on?
Unanimous Supreme Court rulings are not rare. • Despite a widespread belief that the Supreme Court is hopelessly divided along partisan lines, 9-0 rulings aren’t rare at all. Since at least 2008, they’ve usually accounted for a plurality of rulings, and they never fell below 36% of all rulings during that period. • While 5-4 rulings tend to attract more public… Read more »
You know what I won’t miss from the old format???
The stupid forced line spacing!!!!
Hurrah!
Swing by for a free sammy.
I seem to have made enough tuna salad to feed an army.
SCOTUS just ruled 9 – 0 that Colorado (or any other state) may not arbitrarily remove Trump from the ballot for “insurrection.”
I ask the question: How can he be removed from the ballot for “insurrection” when he has never been charged, let alone convicted of same?
Before I head out to pick up rent and go by the bank & grocery store, I just want to say: There are few things sweeter than a baby falling asleep in your arms.
Just sayin’. Miss the little guy already.
Morning, gang! I’m getting used to the changes…
I did a flyby yesterday to see the new decor. Squawk, thanks many times over for all you do to keep the Big Comfy Couch from ending up on the curb. I arrived home after getting my cuddle tank refilled with sweet girl and baby boy refills. Hubby had surf ‘n turf dinner waiting for me. I had only a… Read more »

If you have the sort order set to “Oldest” and enter a comment, your new comment is at the top still, but the rest is in “Oldest” order.
if you then refresh, the sort order goes back to “Newest”.
Jeez.
get busy a couple days and all heck breaks loose.
dave finally killed it to death an squack had to do a forklift upgrade.
Trump Can Stay On Colorado Ballot, Supreme Court Rules.
The Court ruling is great news! To get all 9 justices to agree on a Constitutional issue is monumental but sadly rare.
I just heard on Fox that the Supreme Court has ruled in favor of Trump in the Colorado case barring him from being on the ballot. Unanimous decision, 9-0 even Sotomayer ruled correctly. No link yet, film at 11. 😉
I spent the last 25 years running country roads and blogging on a phone. No big deal.
Carl Sagan died 28 years ago in 1996. This prescient commentary from him certainly applies today. Science is more than a body of knowledge; it is a way of thinking. I have a foreboding of an America in my children’s or grandchildren’s time – when the United States is a service and information economy; when nearly all the key manufacturing industries… Read more »
I was reading articles on Carl Sagan this weekend and I came across this episode. In 1994, engineers at Apple Computer code-named the Power Macintosh 7100 “Carl Sagan” in the hope that Apple would make “billions and billions” with the sale of the PowerMac 7100. The name was only used internally, but Sagan was concerned that it would become a product endorsement and sent Apple a cease-and-desist… Read more »
Well Gawd Bless Amerika! I think I know what went wrong last night. Looking good. Thank you Squawk.
I don’t know what a “sprocket” is, nor where to find it.

OK looks good, title is blue and underlined, crossing fingers. 😉
Wow – I watched while Squawk worked on this – and still don’t understand where everything is – but I WILL learn…
So far I’m liking the new theme and the “Read More” is a very good idea. I also like the “reply to” and the +/-.
