There Y’all are. We made it to Moorpark about 8 PM PST and were greeted at the front door with hugs from granddaughters then guess who walked out of the living room? Daughter! She flew in Wednesday night on the spur of the moment to help me celebrate my 70th birthday on Saturday. I was shocked! If, I’d woke up with my head sewn to the carpet I couldn’t have been more surprised. ~Clark Griswold~ We’re all going to Disneyland today and truth be known that could have had helped daughter decide to show. We’ve never been to “Disneyland” but we made 4 family trips to the Mouse Kingdom when the kids were growing up. The boy and family goes every Christmas to their special show and fireworks. Oh and about Disney, I see some of you shaking your heads but I’m doing it for the granddaughters and well daughter also.

Oh and I got up yesterday at 3 AM CST, drove 2 hours to the airport in PCB, flew to Dallas, then Burbank and went to bed at 10 PM PST, midnight CST. I was dang TARRED!!!  I woke up a little after 4 AM to make sure we can get out of here by 6:15 AM and I’m raring to go. 😉

Shannon said he went to Mike Satterwhite’s funeral yesterday.  I knew Mike for 58 years since I was 14 and he was 16 at Spring Branch High School.  We were FFA boys together under John Cooper.

Mike was a fine horseman and worked as a jockey in the Quarter horse racing program on the King Ranch while he was attending Texas A&I.  He and his father raised and trained Appaloosas when I was a kid over off Britt Moore Road.

He was also one of the funniest men and talented storytellers I ever met.  Mike could keep a roundtable of people laughing and falling out of their chairs.

Michael had a great heart and always had a smile.  He was one of the special ones and my Old Friend.

I have to tell you.  I almost laughed at the shocking stupidity of this woman and the amazing hubris of some criminal to run a huge scam on a high-profile “financial advisor”.

This is analogous to all the so-called experts in America today.  Most of them are morons or frauds.

A financial advice columnist for New York Magazine admitted she was scammed out of $50,000 by a con man who claimed to be a CIA agent and ordered her to stuff a shoe box full of cash and hand it to a courier in a white Mercedes.

Charlotte Cowles, who pens a financial advice column for The Cut, the digital fashion news site that operates under the umbrella of New York Magazine, wrote a first-person account on Thursday titled “The Day I Put $50,000 in a Shoe Box and Handed It to a Stranger: I never thought I was the kind of person to fall for a scam.”

According to Cowles, a mysterious man called her one evening in October and got her attention after he knew her Social Security number, home address, the names of family members and that her two-year-old son was playing in the living room of her Brooklyn apartment.

Cowles wrote that the man “told me my home was being watched, my laptop had been hacked, and we were in imminent danger.”

I don’t care how much information somebody claims to have on me, they are not getting any cash from me.

“I can help you, but only if you cooperate,” the man is reported to have told Cowles, who was instructed that she was not to alert her husband, the police or a lawyer about the phone call.

She wrote that on a Tuesday evening this past October, she “put $50,000 in cash in a shoe box, taped it shut as instructed, and carried it to the sidewalk in front of my apartment, my phone clasped to my ear.”

According to Cowles, she told the strange man on the other line: “Don’t let anyone hurt me.”

“You won’t be hurt,” the man reportedly told Cowles. “Just keep doing exactly as I say.”

Moments later, a white Mercedes SUV pulled up by the curb. The man on the phone told her that she was to “put the box through the window, say ‘thank you,’ and go back inside” without looking at the driver.

I made two rosaries and one chaplet this morning.  My rosary stash is low, after giving most of them away to the pregnant women and then the two purse rosaries to the young men at the store yesterday.

I told Hubby I think I’m making a dent in my bead pile. I still have a lot of them waiting to be turned into prayer.

I was slow getting up this morning, since I took one of my muscle relaxant pills last night.  Still feeling a little foggy/groggy, even after being up for this long.  Maybe next time I’ll split that thing and only take half of it.

The Fani Willis/Natan Wade courtroom comedy show is probably the number one show on TV right now.  Her Highness is fascinated with this meltdown although the only time I’ve watched was stopping while walking through the room where she is watching.  Childers does a good job reviewing the whole drama for anyone who has been living in a cave and is unaware of current events.  No need to rehash all of it.

From everything I’ve read, this quote from Coffee & Covid sums it up:

The problems for the prosecutors began almost immediately after Fani Willis took the stand. She made a horribly mistaken theatrical decision to play herself as an overinflated caricature of an entitled black woman — a black Karen — acting antagonistic, aggressive, abusive, and argumentative. She even argued with the judge.

For some reason, Fani spoke in an inner-city black patois rather than in normal English. For example, when asked how she knew how much cash to pay Nathan Wade, she answered, “He tells me how much it is and I gives him the money back… I don’t do my friends like that. So if you tell me it’s a G, then you gon’ get a thousand dolla’s.”

She did not sound like a hardworking, crime-fighting District Attorney of one of America’s biggest cities. She sounded like a moron.

Oh, and I did see this on the TV live.  I’m glad I wasn’t drinking anything because it was a big spew moment.

“Where’s Belize? What continent? I’m not being funny. I don’t know. I been to Belize with him. I been to the Bahamas with him. I been to Aruba with him. Don’t embarrass me. I’m not sure what continents those are on.”

That is how thoroughly the George Soros manipulation machine vets their candidates.

Okay, I was looking at the IMDB page for Shannon’s Brunette, Ina Balin, when I came across this.

Who here remembers Stoney Burke with Jack Lord and Warren Oates in 1962 and 1963 ?

Bruce Dern was a minor, unknown character actor and the first rodeo champion to become a national celebrity, Casey Tibbs, both appeared on the show.  Hal Needham also had a role.

You won’t remember his name, but he was a great character actor who played a lot of cops over the years, Edward Binns.

  25. bsue54 Avatar

Bruce Dern and rodeo in the same sentence – who knew????

I may have written the sentence in a confusing way, but the rodeo reference was to Casey Tibbs.  He was a huge rodeo champ and I remember seeing him at HLS&R as a boy.

We’re going to try and see American Fiction in the next couple of days.

It is about a black writer who runs head-on into white, leftwing women in the publishing industry who want him to be “authentically” black.  It is supposed to be funny and hurl plenty of mockery at the Left.  Conservative writers I have read who saw it rave about it.

Watch the trailer at the link above.

Be sure to watch the short video at the end.

Have you noticed yet that America has turned into a Coen Brothers movie? Everywhere you look, you see madcap characters disgracing themselves while doing their bit to burn the whole country down. It’s a panoramic extravaganza of everything gone wrong, with slapstick overtones, driving toward an apocalyptic climax — civil war, nuclear war, economic collapse, maybe all three. And all because the people on-screen just can’t stop lying.

  30. bsue54 Avatar

Catching up this evening with the gang.

Have been putting things back where they belong in the house after our kinfolk headed for home on Wednesday. Then there is the hunt for a few items I had moved elsewhere to make room.  Found most of those and put them back this afternoon.  We’re thinking about going to see the kin in May, during the late and beautiful Wisconsin spring.

Winter returned again as the temp slid down to 62 on the way to the 40s tonight.  Fortunately it won’t be cold enough to consider hauling the plants into the garage again.  We are into the “wait 5 minutes and the weather will change” season.  🙂
