I don’t recognize Caroline Munro but she is nice looking. We’ve made Friday and it has been a long week but the weekend is just around the corner.

Only two comments so far?  Are we all getting old and/or getting lazy?  Ah, well, I guess since I’m just now logging in, I shouldn’t throw stones…

I’m very excited.  I can actually see clear space around my computer this morning.  I haven’t “struck wood” in months.  I had a good Latin class last night, and actually was able to do it at my work computer instead of the living room ‘pooter – the same space where Hubby sings his operatic love songs in his sleep and I have to keep my computer microphone muted.

I had ice on my knee all afternoon and evening, and even though I did an easy half mile yesterday along with some floor exercises for the knee, it’s feeling pretty good right now, relatively speaking.  Progress!  Here’s hoping I didn’t just jinx myself.  I shall attempt the same today.  Between the nearly horse pill NSAIDS, ice, and careful moving, I might just pull myself out of this mess.  Someday.  Some. Day.

Wayne Dolcefino is on KSEV 700 AM, and I always enjoy when he fills in.  The dude knows stuff and he doesn’t yell at his audience.  Mattress Mac called in a few minutes ago and they had a quick on-air confab about their efforts to clean up the election process in Harris County.

I think I shall crutch up the stairs in a bit and gather materials for another gifting project.  I’ve finished one, so it’s time to start another.  Yesterday, BCS and I conferred on a project that she’s working on.  I wish I could trust being alone with her; some of my fondest memories are sitting around in her backyard with her Hubby, just visiting.  I really enjoy her company and admire her ability to do stuff with her hands.  We communicate via texts and family gatherings, so we texted back and forth yesterday and I gave her a suggestion, which she accepted.  I wish things could be different, but we’ve managed to reach a place where we can be sisters again, with boundaries.  That’s a good thing.

I have ropa vieja in my 7×7 pans in the freezer, getting prepped for an Elsa run.  More in the frig.  Today is a no-meat day for me, so maybe tomorrow I’ll pull out the frig food.  Dang, it was good last night!  I shouldn’t wait so long to do it again….it’s not that hard to make, even though I had to pressure cook the meat a bit to make it tender enough to shred.

I’m going to budget some time for organizing around my desk, and of course my prayer time.  After that, I’ll see about exercising (lightly) and then ice down the knee while working on my project.  Oh, and set aside time for my Latin study.  I had started a Bible study some time ago and it’ll be good to pull that out and start on it again. And housekeeping.  A lot has been neglected, but that’s really going to depend upon the knee….

It’s nice to be able to budget time for other things besides “catching up”.

So, as SuperDave likes to say…life is good. ™

    UNWELL VISIT ☙ Friday, November 10, 2023 ☙ C&C NEWS

Good morning, C&C, it’s Friday! Your week-wrapping roundup includes: judge upholds Florida cross-dressing sports ban; local news station runs terrifying vaccine death story; Tennessee Senator subpoenas Epstein flight logs; small Michigan town recalls their entire board; SADS Brazilian fitness influencer; another SADS Brazilian fitness influencer; those two join another Brazilian fitness influencer and one from New Zealand; a Florida jury takes care of Maya and punishes awful hospital giant Johns Hopkins; more panic from CDC over surging vaccine exemption rates; and a comical jab advisory from Canada.

ERRATA: The Lees, mentioned in yesterday’s story about the “high-end” brothels in D.C. and chíc Massachusetts, are Korean nationals, not Chinese. Apologies for the error (fog of war).

    NEWS:

Feminists should be happy, but of course it’s not in their nature.  Without anger, what would they have?

Fox News ran an auspicious story yesterday, headlinedFederal judge sides with DeSantis on transgender athletes, upholds ban on biological males on female teams.

It’s a terrific win, upholding Florida’s new law requiring sports teams to be segregated by biological sex, but it was actually a double victory. Federal Judge Roy Altman (a Trump appointee) had stayed his case waiting for the Eleventh Circuit Court in Atlanta to rule on the appeal of a related Jacksonville case, which featured sex-segregated bathrooms instead of sports teams.

In the Eleventh Circuit bathroom case, a three-judge panel held that sex-segregated bathroom rules did not violate federal law, because Title IX’s reference to “sex” does not encompass “gender identity.”  Sex is sex. Mental thoughts about sex are something else.

Childers opines that he doesn’t think appeals in this case will be fruitful, and hails this as a significant legal break for the rest of us.  Especially the women who are being hurt by the cross-dressing males invading their sports.

    Next up: narrative reversal news!

I told you the narrative tide was turning! Here comes exhibit number 732. Local News12 New York ran a story this week that shocked me both because of what happened as well as because they ran the story at all. Here is the unbelievable headline:Orange County 15-month-old dies 2 days after ‘well-visit’ vaccinations. The story included text, a video segment on the story, and it unironically reprinted in full (with a live link) the reporter’s ‘anti-vaxx’ tweet about the infant’s tragic death:

    /snip

On October 17th, Katherine Palombi took her “perfectly healthy” daughter Melody to her pediatrician’s office, the Herbert Kania Pediatric Group in Warwick — News15 actually named the practice —  for Melody’s 15-month well-visit. The pediatrician gave Melody three vaccine injections: varicella, DTaP and Hib. Two days later, without any warning that anything was wrong, Melody suddenly and unexpectedly stopped breathing and her tiny baby heart attacked her.

EMS and then St. Anthony’s hospital medical staff provided emergency care but nothing helped. And listen to this: News12 asked the hospital for the baby’s records. The records showed Melody had liver failure, kidney failure, and cardiac arrest. All at once. With no warning. Two days after a well-visit where the pediatrician found nothing wrong.

An autopsy is pending, but come on.

The picture shows an absolutely adorable baby.  This HAS to be devastating for the parents.

Marsha Blackburn is stirring the pot.  Good for her!  She is trying to issue subpoenas for info on Sotomayor’s book sources, and the Epstein flight logs to his infamous sex island.

    https://x.com/bennyjohnson/status/1722714202115072202

There must be a lot of underwear changes going on at the Capitol.

Senator Marshburn has thrown down the gardening glove. It will take some delicate political maneuvering to defeat the Senator’s amendment or squash the Epstein subpoena using some other procedural mechanism. The game is afoot.

I hope she has really good, really loyal security.  I’d hate for to get Arkancided.

Marsha Blackburn has been a little too cozy with Cocaine Mitch in the past, but it looks like she may have hit some serious raw nerves here on the Left.  Here amendments also threw the Judiciary Chair, Little Dickie Durbin, into mental turmoil and he had to cancel his other subpoenas attempting to attack Justice Thomas.

  9. Tedtam Avatar

And thanks to the Little Elf and the CDC, parents are shying away from vaccines now:

CDC reports highest childhood vaccine exemption rate ever in the U.S.

Forty of our fifty states have parents giving the medical complex the middle finger when it comes to vaccines. Gee, I wonder why?  /sarc off/ Medical sales folks are probably huddling in their conference rooms right now….

…Three years ago, only two states had an exemption rate over 5%. And the medical machine’s problem seems to be bigger than just childhood vaccines.

There’s a developing image problem for the whole medical system.

    /snip

    How could this have happened?

NBC dutifully trotted out its merchants of fear. “We really have to have our guard up,” said Dr. Julie Morita, executive vice president of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and former head of the Chicago Department of Public Health. “We’ve forgotten how bad these diseases actually are.”

Unfortunately, the public remembers just how bad the latest medical advice and mandates were, too.

Have we forgotten? Or have we been brainwashed into believing the diseases are worse than they really are in order to sell unnecessary, unsafe, and ineffective medical treatments?

Just how bad are the diseases? NBC darkly described a recent “measles outbreak,” making it sound like a horror movie about aerosolized Ebola or something. But in the end, only about 80 kids tested positive for measles, and nobody died (although 36 terrified parents hauled their hapless kids to the treatment centers for hydration after some diarrhea).

I remember having the mumps, around age five.  My swollen glands in my neck hurt.  I remember sitting on the couch and playing with the paper dolls Mom got for me.  Of course, it can sterilize boys (see “Bill Clinton“), so it can be serious.  As for Chelsea’s birth, anyone with two good eyes (or even one) can tell she’s not Bill’s kid.

I’m not anti-vaxx, as in vaccines of the standard, attenuated variety, though I admit there are some troubling accusations against them.  I won’t criticize anyone who refuses them.

But the influx of illegals, bringing their diseases with them, is troubling.  Especially the resistant TB stuff. I’m a survivor of TB – one of Dad’s army buddies gave it to me, but I never knew I had it until my TB “puff test” on my arm was positive.  My body had already fought it off and I have lung lesions on x-rays to prove it.  Would I survive the resistant strain?

    What could go wrong?

Republicans side with Dems on automobile “kill switch” technology

“Automobile experts told USA TODAY the bill does not direct a kill switch to be implemented in cars, nor does it give any third parties, including law enforcement or government officials, access to the in-vehicle technology,” USA Today reported. The paper’s next sentence read, “Rather, the bill in question directs a federal agency to require technology that would detect driver impairment and disable the vehicle in that scenario.” This leaves the question of how all new vehicles will function up to the descretion of unelected bureacrats in Washington, who could push manufacturers in dramatic directions.

Yeah, right.  Give ’em an inch, etc.

Heading to a MAGA rally?  Gee, it looks like you’re drunk!  Heading to a freedom party meeting?  Darn, you seem to be impaired.

I would not put it past them.

The introduction of a “kill switch” on all new vehicles coincides with a growing push among the far left to limit freedom of movement. Often citing climate change as justification for new measures to limit transit, policymakers from California to the United Kingdom have introduced rules that would curb the use of private vehicles. On the West Coast, the California Air Resources Board came out with new regulations last summer to ban gasoline-powered car sales by 2035. One week later, California Gov. Gavin Newsom begged residents not to charge electric vehicles during a heat wave so the power grid would not become overwhelmed.

    About that Sleeping

I took restful sleep for granted for more than six decades.  I never wanted to sleep long hours as a boy because I was afraid I would miss something.  With the exception of back injury episodes, I usually slept 5-6 hours a night, sometimes as little as 4.  Falling soon into the REM (rapid eye movement) state of deep rest helped me all my life to wake up most mornings feeling good and energized.  I’ve read if a person can get 4 hours of REM, the body is fully recharged.

Unfortunately, those things are rare to never for me.  Once I had a heart attack and went from taking a baby aspirin and a mild dose of blood pressure medication to taking 7 pills a day including a statin, a beta-blocker and high dose blood pressure meds, I often am falling into genuine sleep shortly before Super Dave is waking up.  A major side effect of 4 of the drugs I take is insomnia.  Between that, muscle cramps from statin and old injury pain, any restful sleep I get these days is the exception.

The vote on the amendment to kill the automotive kill-switch was 201 Ayes to 229 Nays.

Those voting no included 19 Republicans and 210 Democrats.  If those 19 imbecilic traitors claiming to be Republicans had voted yes, the amendment would’ve passed easily 220 to 210.

Just so everyone knows, Michael McCaul R-Texas, was one of the traitors.

Given the utter incompetence of Biden, Congress and his cronies concerning China and the fact they very well use an EMP on the USA in the future,  I’m looking to buy a vehicle made before computer modules, electronic ignitions and microprocessors showed up in every car and truck.  Every one of those vehicles made since the late 1970s will be rendered useless in an EMP attack.  Electric vehicles and hybrids will be totally ruined if they don’t all burn to the ground from exploding batteries.

Anybody have a 1960s Willys Jeep or Chevy Suburban for sale cheap ?  I may have to start hoarding gasoline.

Can you imagine the devastation of an EMP bomb over Los Angeles, Houston or Washington DC at the height of rush hour ?  I can’t even imagine the death toll from exploding and burning EVs and hybrids in massive traffic jams.

    The cycle of evil.

    Egon von Greyerz
Egon von Greyerz is the Founder and Chairman of Matterhorn Asset Management AG.

We are on the inevitable road to perdition for the world economy & financial system, ending in a potential global conflict of uncontrollable proportions.

Evil begets evil as The Cycle of Evil hits countries at the end of an uncontrollable debt expansion.

    Let’s talk about debt

Few Americans understand that the next stage of the Cycle of Evil is about to hit them.

And even fewer Europeans have a clue that they will be dragged down into the same debt collapse quagmire.

The next stage will involve many banks failing, more than the FDIC or government can afford to save without destroying both the Currency and the Bond Market,

    DEBT COLLAPSE

We have a global debt burden of $330 trillion plus derivatives totaling $1.5-3 quadrillion with debt growing exponentially, especially in the US.  This will very soon develop into a debt crisis and collapse of a heavily leveraged Western world plus Japan and China and also emerging markets.

The risk ofA Catastrophic Debt Implosion is just too big to ignore.

With what I see coming there is no “right guy” period.  It saddens me the amount of people that think another four years of lame duck Trump will solve our problems.  There is not a man that can stop the coming terror attacks in our country.  No way even Trump can organize enough military to reverse the number of people in this country illegally.  I have already made my comment on the economy.  Then the amount of countries that hate us?  We do not have the military strength any longer to male us respected or the economic strength to make anyone worried like Trump did before.

Late again to say hello gang.

Winter is here for sure; it arrived last night escorted by cold rain and dropping temps and wind

We were out to a yearly dinner hosted by spouse’s ham radio club at the same place the monthly meetings are held in southwest Houston.  The ride over there at 6 and back home at 9 was in the dark, in mostly light rain, and in the cold wind that made anyone who didn’t bring a coat or jacket went home shivering.  We both brought jackets and so were mostly comfortable inside and out.

Chili and trimmings for dinner made by three ladies either club members or spouses of club members in the kitchen of the large room of tables and chairs.  The recipe each year is a different manifestation of chili from each family.  Great fun and good company.  Sometimes there is a raffle, the latest one last year that I won and still have barely touched except for dusting.  It’s a big Ball jar filled to the top with gumballs in every color that only one ball has been tasted.  I have to find someone who would like to have it and likes gum a lot. 🙂

Today has been again overcast and cold, which = nasty.

I can appreciate the difficulty of night driving after the country dumped daylight time this fall.  I could not have driven us to the party last night.  Oncoming headlights even on some divided highways can still pose a problem, nevermind on two-lane roads.  Spouse being considerably taller than I am sees headlights at a different angle than I do, and that makes a difference.

    From Sarge over yonder;

As my Veteran’s Day pic, I offer this one taken on the occasion of my induction into the Spec 4 Mafia sometime in 1974. While slacking is both a perk and prerequisite of membership in that august body the gentleman shaking my hand, LTC Robert L. Stinnett, would have none of that. Seeing as how he was made entirely of shoe leather, had 2″ of fuze coming out of the top of his head, and shaved with a blowtorch, I made sure such slacking was done well away from his presence. Both myself and the Army managed to survive the experience

Hubby and I were about to start eviction proceedings on one of our tenants, who’s been in the hospital for quite a while now.  We knew he was really sick and wasn’t likely to be coming back for a long time, if ever.  He has “issues” and Hubby managed to get ahold of the gentleman who used to help handle tenant’s affairs.

We got word from the gentleman that our tenant will never be coming back – cancer everywhere.

We don’t know of any family, either, so we’re just going to have to clear everything out of the unit.  The place will have to be gutted.  he wasn’t the cleanest tenant to begin with, and his illness made him less capable of maintaining his hygiene and diet.

It’s sad, that at the end of a life all that’s left is a dumpster full of stuff.
