I am glad I don’t have any convenience devices in my home: no NEST thermostat, no Alexa, etc. The closest I come is my Roku.
Handyman sent me a video that described a scary story that one host was telling another, about how AI would go about taking over the world, using a Roomba as its original gateway into the Web, taking that one Roomba and eventually taking over the world.
The story was written by AI, in response to a prompt asking how it would take over.

White wines do tend to be a bit more refreshing in the summer especially here in Death Valley Texas.
I still stick to the cabs and merlots but I’m just a weekend sampler anyway.
Ahhhhh Wines. Before I quit drinking 30 years ago I discovered Texas wines. The industry was in its infancy then but dang there were some great wines around. There was a little winery out towards Plantersville that had some very nice whites (and reds). I think it was called Bernhardt but I am not sure.

I figure our country will be shut down sometime in September
For many years our House White was Vendange Sauvignon Blanc. But it disappeared during COVID.
When it comes to Whites, I cannot tolerate even the higher priced Chardonnays.
Chardonnay is the nastiest wine on earth.
Wow.
Tied the All Time Record High today at Bush.
109°F
i guess it is time to shut down the entire world economy, again.
So we can fix climate change.
I’ve kinda gotten off any reds during this summer-from-hell, for some reason.
My House White is Cavit, an Italian Select Pinot Grigio.
What kind of wine?
It almost doesn’t bother me anymore when I look up and it is after 9 pm and I have forgotten to fix supper.
Now I shrug my shoulders, grab a few crackers and cheese, and pour another glass of wine.
It’s called the Dementia Fast.
And the Jersey Jelly Roll led the cast.

I stay far away from those spool haulers. Even if they have three dozen chains. 🙂
I was watching Trump’s plane @ Hartsfield Airport and noticed the “N” number; N757AF. Of course 757 is the model of the Boeing plane but what does AF stand for? My first thought was Air Force but that can’t be right, what about “America First”? 😉
#56 Dr phil Good, very good, y’all are way behind time to catch up. Brag away. 😉
hey ex NASA retired to Alabama dude.
it’s Pouring here right now.
Yeah, I’m bragging.
Mea culpa. You were clear. I was not.
Did y’all see this huge spool some moron hauler had loaded on his truck ? trailer ? bed and hit the Houston Avenue bridge ?
He left it sitting in the middle of I-10 near downtown. It is one huge spool so I assume whatever is wrapped on it is pretty lightweight.
I’ve been fortunate to know LEOs who were mostly supporters of the Second Amendment. There have been a couple of exceptions though and our brief friendship didn’t end on a good note. My favorite cop was a captain in the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department back in the late 1970s. I called him up at the Dallas County Courthouse looking for… Read more »

43 WB What you’re describing (not the no-knock part) is exigent circumstances, which is the only way police can enter your domicile without either a warrant or the resident’s consent. I know exactly what exigent circumstances are. I didn’t make the case for no-knock warrants and, in fact, I thought it was clear I am totally opposed to them. #38… Read more »
Wow, it’s here, big fat raindrops on the patio! Glad I got Billy Cat to come eat early supper. But it probably won’t last long…
Sheesh, I’m hearing distant thunder & weather.com says scattered t-storms tonight, about 50 % chance… Am I still in Houston, or did I get up from my nap on a different planet?
I would slightly amend that to read:
“the 2nd Amendment was created because of people in government like him.”
I have several police officer friends and not a one of them believe we should be able to carry weapons much less own them. I urinated off one of them real bad when I said the 2nd Amendment was created just for people like him.
When I look at police blotter stories about Houston neighborhoods I don’t recognize them as the places I knew growing up. So many of these places used to be very nice, even fairly expensive places to buy or rent, and now they all seem like ghetto shoot-out avenues.

Michelin is making or working on making tires from sustainable materials.
Michelin Tire is running commercials on the TV that they make special tires for electric cars. WTH? I love Michelin Tires, but c’mon man!
31 texpat What you’re describing (not the no-knock part) is exigent circumstances, which is the only way police can enter your domicile without either a warrant or the resident’s consent. There is no need for no-knock warrants ever. Either exigent circumstances are present or not. In either case a standard warrant is sufficient. If crime is afoot, there are many… Read more »

At 6pm on Channel 2 is doing a story about Houston SWAT’s new house-destroying machine and how proud of it they are.

#31 TP: How about an immediate end to Civil Asset Forfeiture; those LEOs who violate this get nailed at 100 times that which was seized. The LEOs personally.
No-knock entry by LEOs should be illegal in all but the most extraordinary instances in which saving an innocent life and the no-knocker better be able to prove it or he automatically loses all qualified immunity.
