Tedtam, the nice folks at “Retired at 40’s” FB group were the ones who taught me about weighing the trays, and their words (when I had a cold spot on a tray of eggs) was “nothing in the batch is dry until everything in the load is dry…”  Not being critical, just sharing the “wisdom” that was shared with me… Read more »

We maxed out here on the porch  of our little house in the woods at 104 – it actually went from 101 to 104 in about 30-45 minutes about 4pm… Thankfully, we’re back down to ONLY 101 now…

Are people going to have to write “X – formerly known as Twitter” forever ? I wanted to find that little Prince guy back in the 90s and strangle him for forcing everybody in the world to write “Scribble symbol, formerly known as Prince, for what seemed like years.  It drove me crazy.  Now I realize it was mind control… Read more »

#47 Super Dave, Tim Walz is indeed the dingbat governor of Minnesota who was just re-elected.  He seems to be lost far into Socialism. Minnesota has gotten itself into this mess by admiring socialism from afar for years and now being stuck with it.  If’n they wonder what happened, all they have to do is look in a mirror.  And… Read more »

My #74 Found it; 5.1 earthquake near Ojai jolts Southern California unday, Aug. 20, the U.S. Geological Survey said. FWIW; Ojai is about 30 miles from Moorpark where the boy lives. AND they say Moorpark may get 2″-3″ of rain, a lot for that area. I bet the areas that burned will have serious mud-slides. 🙁

The boy just texted me and said they had 5.5 magnitude earthquake 2 miles from Ojai California and it really shook his house. So not only are they doomed because of the Hurricane now the earthquake’s will get them.

FWIW; His text had an official warning but I’ve not been able to find it on-line yet.

#70 Shannon, FWIW; this time of year is calmer than early summer but within a weeks time you’ll always have at least one flat day and usually several. This week it was pretty rough (Red Flag) on Saturday and flat as a pool table Sunday, Monday and Tuesday (Blue Flag). Wednesday it was a little rough (Yellow Flag) and Thursday/Friday… Read more »

Mauritania is part of the old French West Africa colonial holdings.  It now has the reputation as the last nation on earth to outlaw slavery in 1981.  It didn’t matter until 2007 when they finally made it a criminal offense to own slaves that is rarely enforced. Thousands of West African migrants are pouring into the US after social media… Read more »

Hey Grandpa.

These pictures you send from that part of the beach, sometimes….amazingly flat…and so often. It’s a different world over there.

A far cry from the roar of the lower Texas coast where the pounding and the wind rarely lay down.

Shoot, even on the Upper Texas coast there is usually at least a ripple.

At the grocery store yesterday, I decided to reward myself for being so marginally productive this week.

So, I just now had twelve ice cold, boiled Gulf shrimp with a fine red sauce.

Certainly in the top five (three?) of my favorite things to eat. So many fine memories associated with.

I see that Chef Jose Andres and his World Central Kitchen crew arrived in Maui just days after the fire, took over the kitchen at a local community college and started cranking out meals. Volunteer chefs from across Hawaii helping.

The guy walks the walk and has for years now.

I have no, none, nada understanding of fame worship and celebrity idolatry.  It is so far removed from my life and experience as a human being it’s as if I’m watching some kind of weird science fiction movie when I see stuff like this. I’m wondering and seeing similar comments about Ron DeSantis.

I think that may be it but I think Vivek Ramaswamy is the better candidate and so far he seems to be connecting with voters. He’s #3 in some polls. Of course Trump is still in the lead and I think, the most likely Republican nominee.
