Who didn’t see this coming? A lawsuit has been filed in Utah Federal court asking the judge to block enforcement of Utah’s long-standing law prohibiting polygamy. The plaintiff, Mr. Kody Brown, is the father of the family featured on the reality tv show Sister Wives.
“By criminalizing religious-based plural families and intimate relationships under the criminal bigamy law, Utah officials prosecute private conduct between consenting adults,” the lawsuit says.
Yep, a blind man could see this coming a mile away.
The lawsuit is not demanding that states recognize polygamous marriage. Instead, the lawsuit builds on a 2003 United States Supreme Court decision, Lawrence v. Texas, which struck down state sodomy laws as unconstitutional intrusions on the “intimate conduct” of consenting adults. It will ask the federal courts to tell states that they cannot punish polygamists for their own “intimate conduct” so long as they are not breaking other laws, like those regarding child abuse, incest or seeking multiple marriage licenses.
Oh, yeah. I predict “marriages” that include barnyard animals in our lifetimes.

I would agree.
Great news: Another Obama press conference coming tomorrow morning
Leader!
Leader!
Leader!
Whoahoo!
Things can always get worse. And in ways you cannot imagine.
What? You got something against grilled cheese sammiches?
Regarding the guns to Mexico scandal…
Obumma and Holder could devise a plan to nuke half the planet and the Satanic Streamed Media still wouldn’t cover it.
Liberal corruption is always good cuz it’s for the common good.
That’s a pretty dang good point.
Yeah, I laugh too at that nice guy remark. Especially considering who you were referring to. 😉
If Perry runs then I’ll take a P over Obama.
Is that a euphemism?
Well, I couldn’t have beaten a nicer guy to the 200 mark. 🙂
BWA HA HA HA

I did. After Medina would not “refudiate” the 9/11 truthers.
mharper #205;
I believe you because you’re like that. Thanks but I did not seriously want to get to 200; just work up to it and leave it one post short all the while saying that I want to get to 200.
Thanks for your effort.
Bonecrusher; well then he just has to see all the rest. Or he can leave the situation. That would be a far better choice. Except if it was his wife. 🙂 The gun walker scandal really makes Watergate pale in comparison, doesn’t it? Yup. In fact it dwarfs Watergate. Liberaly supporting murderous drug cartel thugs in Mexico and inevitably crime… Read more »
Would you believe I was trying to help ya out? 😳

So what? Did you see Ron Paul’s ad? There’s no way he’s at all evil. He’s Lawrence’s man for 2012!
#195
I’m getting nothing from any of ’em so far, I damn sure don’t understand telling them no matter how they act or say they have our unconditional vote.
The inmates are running the asylum
try again
How in the world can I get 200?
Hmmmmmm……..
Dang, just missed it.
200!
Popping back in this evening. I shall happily vote for any Republican nominee who can fog a mirror in opposition to T. Rex Obama. However I’m sure everyone who’s in contention presently can do more than fog a mirror. 🙂 Guess it’s the minimum requirement in these dire circumstances in which we find our beloved country.
#192 So, Tim, who is your candidate? And then will you take any R over Obama when it comes down to that in Nov 2012?
Texpat It is not an either/or situation that I have been commenting on tonight. I’ve been saying I don’t like Rick Perry ever since the rumors started that he might run. I still hope he won’t run; doing so might harm the chances of better candidates than he is. Similarly, I didn’t like and didn’t “support” McLame last time, didn’t… Read more »
I still smell mustard and grilled cheese.
This stuff sounds a lot like walking into a car dealership, announcing to the sales person you fully intend to pay list, but you’re gonna pretend to scream a lot of demands first.
You’d be hard-pressed to find anyone here who voted for Perry in any primary.
I just hope the renewed emphasis on civility on Hammy’s Couch doesn’t mean that Sarge won’t get another chance to come up with a “making glue” comment.
#188 mharper42
Hamous was speaking directly to a situation where Perry was running against Obama. It was an either/or proposititon.
#177 Hammy
Nov 2012 is a long way off. I’m pretty sure I won’t be voting for Perry in the Texas primary. Therefore I can not be said to “support” him. About 6 better candidates would have to drop out or drop dead before Perry would seem to me to be the best R candidate next March.
You go, girl!
What incredibly brave women. And what despicable men.
Texpat
Amen Brother! There is NO WAY we could do worse.
I will vote for a grilled cheese sandwich in 2012. And I will refer to it as neither an idiot nor some variant of the fecal matter theme. This is my solemn pledge unto you. Unless I get hungry and eat it before then. Or I get drunk and forget.
#181 Shannon
Well, the ambient aroma of the place has improved dramatically.
I will vote for whomever the Republican Party nominates for president in 2012 – male or female, mammal or foul, reptile, biped or quadroped as long as they meet the requirements listed in the U.S. Constitution.
Hambone is a “Poopy Head” ……Ducks and runs the zig-zag pattern that I learned from our own “Southern Demostic Terrorist” 😀
Dang. The impact of the new rule has already improved this place.
Fat Boy – We’re on the same wavelength. Lawrence knows I disagree with him on this too. I will vote for almost anyone running or thinking about running, including Jimmy Dick. I will vote for Luap Nor if he’s the nominee. But, whoever I vote for, there’s no way I can say I’m voting for him but not supporting him.… Read more »
#157 Darren: The gun walker scandal really makes Watergate pale in comparison, doesn’t it? It is worse than Clinton lying under oath, there are at least 2 federal agents dead as a direct result of the ATF NOT ENFORCING THE WISSIN LAW. Remember the pattern: create a problem (guns killing us people in the hands of known scatological euphemism human… Read more »
#177 Hammy: Then let me be perfectly clear: I have not decided who I will support in the Republican primary, but I have ruled several out already. I will support, perhaps grudgingly, ANY currently conceivable Republican candidate against the current President. If that means I’m rewarding the behavior I (and Lawrence) no longer desire, so be it. I myself can… Read more »
Huh? I think by any definition, if you vote for someone you’re supporting him. It may be grudgingly, but you are supporting him.

Good luck with that.
2008 Texas Republican Primary results:
John McCain 697,767 51.21%
Ron Paul 66,360 4.87%
#172 FA: Just an observation. Here’s another: Once a man sees his first nekkid woman. . . . . . . .well then he just has to see all the rest.
Primary Election Date in Texas is March 6, 2012.
Lawrence;
We found your man!

Are you complaining or just making an observation?
#170 FA: Eve’s clothes don’t fit very well.
#164 Lawrence:
I’m just the fat guy with a beard, This is Eve.
I’m not calling anyone out. Heck, many of you I’ve broke bread with. I know you’re decent folk. I think that’s part of the problem. A lot of you don’t know each other except on these impersonal pages. All I’m asking is tone it down when addressing each other. I don’t think that’s too much to ask. And I tend… Read more »
Is this a scatalogical euphemism? It’s actually true and I am proud of it.
