Ah, yes, it is wild-onion blossom time, and we have several acres of them in the back pasture. Spouse says this is the worst time of year to mow pastures because the strength of those blossom saps can literally make your eyes water quite a lot if you break the onions open even a little bit. You can smell the neighborhood when someone mows their pastures. It seems the smell keeps lots of varmints away until the blooming is over.
The big boys took my advice and no one bid on acquiring the SVB banking carcass. So now, the government has said OK, we’ll pay everyone off regardless of the insured amount. Meanwhile, they also closed Signature Bank in New York today – unusual thing to do on a weekend. $150 billion is a lot to pay out on uninsured deposits for a failed bank, but relative to government numbers, it’s a small price to pay to keep the voters happy – and this was a big Democrat woke bank. They are trying their best to calm the markets before… Read more »
I got my canning jars processing. I ended up with some beef that wouldn’t completely fill a jar, so it got thrown on the grill as well. I guess we’ll see how that small piece made out.
Oh, and our cole slaw contains onions from our backyard.
My #68 drink container spill actually was the second spill in our corner of the restaurant. The table behind us also had a rather large spill when we were waiting for our dinner. I don’t know what was spilled, but the waitress offered to replace the item. It was something liquid for all the paper towels that were used.
Hello again Hamsters, This lovely day keeps on giving with sun and breeze and 70s temps. So we celebrated by dining out at our fave Mexican restaurant that offers six-packs of frozen tamales to go to enjoy at home. As we packed up the dinner leftovers I was getting ready to pour my ice tea into a to-go drink container. Well, the ice tea was in a not very sturdy kinda styrofoam container that couldn’t quite deliver its contents to the more stable to-go container, so of course a spill ensued. Can you say wet fingers on one hand and… Read more »

It still seems like MORNING to me. My chore today is to put on the new batch of Seresto flea collars, but there was something about just opening the box they came in that spooked all the cats. I got 2 done and all the rest have run up the stairs to hide.
I truly don’t care what time it is, except when I have some sort of appointment. So tomorrow I have my annual skin checkup, due to about 12 years ago, the dermatologist found a small cancer on my ankle. The white coats in the exam room all freaked out, while I who had noticed the dime-sized red spot had no idea it was a bad thing. That’s why I go to them once a year. I got 2 plain wall clocks reset this morning, and was pleased to see that the radio-centric clock above the fireplace did its thing. I’ve… Read more »
I understand that the bidding is underway to try to find a buyer to take over SVB bank. Tough call as to how to bid. BTW, the do what is called a negative bid – FDIC says to the bidders “how much money do we have to give you to take this albatross off our hands.” I just can’t see where it’s worth anything at any price. No guarantee that those deposits are not going to leave, no loan demand so the only thing to do is to invest in government bonds, and with rates still headed up, they will… Read more »
Good Morning Hamsters, Wake up time to remember DST has taken over our clocks and sense of time. Never mind that Mother Nature still rules, our planet still has 24 hours in a day, and being able to somehow harness Mother Nature and the Sun for the pleasure of “some” mere mortals is still a fraud. That fraud was supposed to have ended last year, but it has been propped up for another year before the end finally happens. As I recall the excuse emanating from those in favor of keeping it was, ridiculously, that people needed time (chortle) to… Read more »
Good morning gang. I woke up at the same time as usual, but it was an hour later on my clock. But that’s OK since I’m not on a schedule anyway. It’s cooler out there than it has been, and I think we are in for a cooler week. No clouds so we’ll get plenty of radiant heat today, so guess I’ll get outside and piddle around in the yard a little more. I’ve got some pots that I need to put something in, but they are not big enough for tomatoes, so I’ll figure out something there. The mesquites… Read more »
but if the whacked out, psycho, control freak, politicians want to keep doing it then why not set them up an hour at 2pm on the Friday of clock hop forward weekend and then back 1 hour Sat at 2pm on the weekend of clock hop backward weekend?
I’ve got a couple of clocks that don’t auto reset themselves. Some one told me that I do not have to get up at 2AM to reset my clocks to the new time – that I can do it earlier before I go to be or I can wait and do it in the morning. I reset the one here at my desk just to see if I could figure out how to do it, and after fiddling with the buttons for a while, I got it done. Do I have to worry about the clock police smashing my door… Read more »
Wow, Texmo has an entourage. And not the good kind, either.

I went to the ER Thursday since I’ve had a fever for a week and I couldn’t do chemo on Tuesday. I got to a room at 1am Friday. They’ve been pumping me full of antibiotics this entire time.
I’ve got my surgical team, oncology team, GI team, and Infectious Disease team following me.
I feel a little better and I’m hanging in there. If y’all asked me a question Thursday through today, I most likely missed it.
While I was at WM I picked up some seedlings, since I’ve been neglectful with the seeds. I was able to put some in the dirt and while watering them in, I watered my other tubs that I’ve gotten started.
My asparagus beans are already sprouting. Heck it was only what two? days ago that I stuck ’em in the dirt.
I used my new nozzle with my sky water. I got great satisfaction out of that.
The “Mayorkas Must Fly Coach Until We Secure the Border Act” would strip the Department of Homeland Security secretary’s office of funding for private flights and force Mayorkas to fly commercially for official work. De La Cruz’s legislation comes as Mayorkas faces a wave of criticism for his response to a record surge of illegal immigrants.
I know the geritol gang hit the sack long ago but I wonder if unck is still awake.

I always wanted to move to the Jets but never got any further than twin pistons.
Aaron Rodgers to the Jets?
Aww yeah, I remember seeing this episode of Star Trek…
Earlier, as I was climbing off the mower, my neighbor across the way showed up with a large container of blackeyed peas and cornbread.
So, Grandpa, I added a bunch of sliced, pickled jalapeños, and put them in the microwave. Had a salad on hand.
Mighty good.

From all. over. our. backyard.
We’re about to pull the ribs off the grill. The breeze today is certainly helping the fire stay hot.
Oh yeah, 63F and my thermometer agrees.
Since it’s really only 5:38, Ima throw some potatoes in the oven and a ribeye on the Weber.
/pop a top
Like my nose’s they’re clogged.
…I’d have a roast beef sandwich.
…I’ll get my hour back.

But what they showed and what I had was 9 degrees off.
It’s cooling off now, pretty quickly.
I seem to recall that on Thursday the weather guy said this front was going to stall somewhere on top of us and break up.
I’m showing 73° and a predicted high of 76°.
You have 84° over there? Weird.
They turned the temperature back too I guess, Weather Channel dot com says high today 74F, thermometer on the back porch table says it’s 84 already.

See there? They go messing with God’s natural order of time, the clock, now we got no blog.
Hope they are happy.
Where’d that hour of sleep go dangit?
suiting up to head out for more new HEROs
Yall enJOY!
And will I still have this when I lose an hour?
But is it before or after we reset the clocks?
In quaaludes and red wine does anyone know the
I don’t.
Hang in there Texmo BSue and I have you in our prayers
Bless you TexMo.
Why do we keep resetting the clocks twice a year?
it’s absolutely 0 benefit to anyone.

I finally checked in on the C&C today.
Some pithy observations on the time change, and how folks are trying to tie it to heart attacks and Covid.
Then the bank failure. He shares the link that El Gordo linked to about the other banks “on the edge”.
I’m gonna go finish it now. I knew I was missing something today…
