Good morning gang. Up a little early this morning for some reason. Supposed to be warm again today but the strong winds are supposed to return as well. I remember last spring the winds were reeking havoc with my newly planted garden and burning the leaves as late as April and May – this year they are starting much earlier, but the greenhouse should provide some protection so long as it does not blow away. Think it’s supposed to get cooler later in the week. I was seeing a few seeds germinating when I peeked in there a couple of days ago, but not many yet.
Today is former BFF Mary’s birthday, and she passed a week later. Hard to believe that she’s been gone for a year already. Time keeps on ticking.
You all have a good day out there today. Might be a good day to go to the beach right here in the middle of winter. I’d probably do that if I were down there. More later.
Dude is stylin with his pontoon deck and five hunnerd dollar grill.
PJW on the obsession some females have with shaming men for looking at them in the gym as they wear skin tight clothing.
Looking at the OC pic, I was reminded of a story…
Back when Hubby and I were investigating the hows and wherefores of radiant heating for the Dome, we went to several Radian Panel Association conferences. In one of the seminars, the speaker was discussing all of the possibilities of using hot water tubing for various other applications besides floors: walls, wall panels, ceiling panels, etc. One guy said he knew a guy that had a grill on his boat, ran tubing that would collect the heat from the fire, then run that tubing through the seats.
So you could fish with a warm booty. Probably cook it right there on the boat, too.
Coffee in hand, here I go, doing the thing that brings me my morning joy…well, in addition to seeing y’all on the Couch.
Good morning, C&C, and Happy Wednesday! Your roundup today includes: Ohio officials ask East Palestine residents to test their well water, for no reason, really, just curious; Joe Biden is about to survive another impeachment-worthy scandal because, well, KAMALA; controversial WaPo columnist Taylor Lorenz is starting to notice something funny is going on; hot-mic moment at the World Series of Poker reveals jab truths; celebrity promoter dies from turbo-leukemia; young Disney exec and self-help guru suddenly and unexpectedly dies peacefully at home; and Tennessee Republicans lead the way to ban mRNA livestock vaccines.
Childers starts off with Dr. Vanderhoff telling East Palestine residents they need to have their wells tested. The gubmint is dedicated to giving them safe air and certainly safe water.
Childers also points that this guy was a vaxx mouthpiece as well. As the estimable Mr. Childers says, “He’ll say whatever they tell him to say.” Lotsa those rolling lolling around the halls of gubmint.
Now, I admit I might be nitpicking here, but good doctor Vanderhoff, who has spread official misinformation before, he didn’t exactly say they’d TELL YOU what’s in your water after they test it. So, if you’re staying in East Palestine because you have no other option, you might want to scrape the money together, and have your well tested by a non-government provider.
Or, should we maybe multiply a reliable water-testing company to go in there, test folks’ wells for them, and post the results online? I’m not saying we can’t trust the Ohio Department of Health to do it right but, well, you know.
That’s a multiplier I wouldn’t have a problem participating in. Those poor people. One good disaster, and they are at the mercy of the powers that be.
I saw a couple being interviewed last night – I believe it was on Tucker’s show – and they had just bought their forever home on 14 acres, at the edge of the danger zone. The husband was having chemical reactions. They said the folks nearer in are lower income folks, with few resources for a situation like this. OH, and the emergency brakes on the train hadn’t been tested appropriately, which is supposed to be a factor in the derailment. Where’s a Bootyjudge when you need him?
Next up, more Biden family shenanigans:
….the Daily Mail UK broke a story yesterday claiming that yet another Biden has been selling access around the world. It was a family enterprise.
Yesterday, the Daily Mail ran a story headlined, “EXCLUSIVE: Jim Biden Admitted He Was Hired to Negotiate With Saudis Over a Secret $140 Million Deal ‘Because of His Position And Relationship’ to His VP Brother Joe — Who Would Be ‘Instrumental to The Deal,’ Bombshell Affidavit Claims.”
Jim Biden is Joe’s younger brother. According to the Mail, in 2012 Jim was central to a $140 million settlement negotiation between Hill International and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The story included an affidavit filed in a lawsuit between a high-powered law firm and a construction company.
Childers walks through the legal shenanigans between the litigating parties. During negotiations, Jim Biden was suddenly inserted into the process and one law firm was told to stand down. Word was sent out that negotiations had stalled. They lied. The disgruntled law firm investigated and discovered the Joe’s Bro had used the meat puppet’s VP status to seal a deal at the meeting:
… So they investigated and eventually discovered that Jim Biden — using Joe Biden’s status as U.S. Vice President — had in fact helped settle the deal at the meeting, for $100 million cash plus $358 million in new construction contracts.
Obviously, the construction firm probably feels like, since they found a “different way” to settle the claim, the lawyers shouldn’t get paid anything. But the lawyers feel like they had a contract to handle the settlement, and after they got it to the five-yard line, Jim and Joe Biden came in and stole their payday.
That dispute doesn’t matter. What matters is, what could Jim Biden have possibly told the Saudis to settle the deal, apart from offering some quid pro quo? What, apart from a promise for Joe to either take some official action or refrain from taking some official action, could Jim Biden have offered?
I had heard years ago that Joe’s Bro had won some large contract based on MP’s name, but I didn’t know the details. As Mr. C points out, it surely wasn’t done for free. The Big Guy got his cut, I’m sure.
Kamala Harris is starting to look like a masterful political choice for Vice President. I’m not kidding. She’s the best insurance against getting impeached that Joe Biden could have ever hoped for.
Is this a trend? Will all of our VP’s be clueless, hateful, incompetents from now on? Are our future presidents going to be so crooked that the one-breath-away person is utterly hateable?
Yeh, That’s Cletus’ place over in Arguta and his wife gets mad as hell in the springtime when he takes her front porch Crappie Fishin’ on Lake Eufaula. When he gets back she has to clean up the fish scales and beer cans out of the pontoon boat. 😀

From the Suddenly & Unexpectedly Department:
Whoever Taylor Lorenz is, she is tweeting out to her lefty friends about so many young people she knows just dropping dead.
Well, I guess the masks were interfering with her seeing what was going on. But she’s finally getting a clue. God bless her little heart. More importantly, a string of her lefty friends were responding with story after story of folks they knew who also S&U dropped dead.
The body pile is getting too big to hide, even to the blind.

USA Today ran a story Sunday headlined, “Howard Bragman, Publicist For Cameron Diaz and Sharon Osbourne, Dies At 66 After Leukemia Battle.”
They kind of buried the lede. In the story’s first paragraph, they described the death of celebrity publicist Bragman — who specialized in helping celebrities come out as gay — as happening “after a short battle with leukemia.”
A short battle. SHORT. How short? This short:
Bragman was diagnosed with leukemia just 10 days ago and promptly hospitalized… He died Saturday night in Los Angeles, his family said Sunday.
Have you ever heard of that before? I always thought of leukemia as a years— or decades—long, drawn-out battle with blood cancer. I’m sure it’s happened somewhere, but in my entire life, I’ve NEVER heard of a 10-day leukemia before. Not once.
So, shoehorn ‘turbo-leukemia’ into the list.
Wow. Just wow.
Monday, Variety ran a story headlined, “Dave Hollis, Former Disney Distribution Chief, Dies at 47.”
Hollis had been recently hospitalized for heart-related health issues, though no exact cause of death has been determined.
He leaves behind young children. There’s a picture of his daughter, and she is just cute as a button. I hate the people who pushed this poison and left so many families missing parents or leaving the parents injured and unable to care for their kids.
Heads should roll. Many of them.

In the “Almost There” section of the S&U Department:
Canadian tournament poker player Aaron Duczak decided to gamble on taking the jab so he could enter the US for a poker tournament. Mr. C repeats the “hot mike” moment in a conversation where Aaron reveals he’s having chest pains. Ever since the jab. Someone better stay close, so they can catch him when he falls.

I pray for them all.
And finally, Tennessee leading the way to protect our food sources:
The Epoch Times ran a forward-looking story Monday headlined, “mRNA Vaccine in Food Products Could Be Banned in Tennessee.”
Tennessee Republicans filed a proposal in the state’s general assembly that would prohibit the manufacture, sale, delivery, holding, or offering for sale of any part of livestock or meat food product containing an mRNA vaccine or any vaccine material without clear labels stating the vaccine contents.
I’ve heard on some of the vaxx sites about Bill Gates wanting to inject the vaxx into our livestock. I’m assuming there’s been research into getting us all spiked, even the ones who refused the jab.
Let’s hope Texas follows suit. And all the other states. Our food is adulterated enough as it is.

I’ve been following this topic on Twitter for several weeks now and I’ve seen many of the video clips in PJW’s piece. It is absolutely ridiculous. This really is a case of the boy who cried wolf.
All across social media, there are clips of people in gyms. Many are “how to” videos and the presenter is modestly dressed and the camera is not focused on their crotch. Unfortunately there are many more made by narcissistic people that want to show off or titillate.

I’m assuming there’s been research into getting us all spiked, even the ones who refused the jab.
In the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases, mRNA vaccines hold great promise because of their low risk of insertional mutagenesis, high potency, accelerated development cycles, and potential for low-cost manufacture. In past years, several mRNA vaccines have entered clinical trials and have shown promise for offering solutions to combat emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases such as rabies, Zika, and influenza. Recently, the successful application of mRNA vaccines against COVID-19 has further validated the platform and opened the floodgates to mRNA vaccine’s potential in infectious disease prevention, especially in the veterinary field. In this review, we describe our current understanding of the mRNA vaccines and the technologies used for mRNA vaccine development. We also provide an overview of mRNA vaccines developed for animal infectious diseases and discuss directions and challenges for the future applications of this promising vaccine platform in the veterinary field.
There are millions of people’s pension and IRA accounts taking a hit on this disaster in Ohio. Norfolk Southern Railway is 42% owned by Vanguard, Black Rock, JP Morgan and other investment and mutual fund operators.
The stock is down over 5% so far and I’m sure it will get worse.
I have a long treatment session scheduled with a clinic today. Maybe I’ll discuss my history with the mRNA “vaccine” and its effects when I return, if I feel like it.
Well, I’m about to make an eggery run. We are into our last dozen from my shopping trip pre-surgery. I had one of them this morning, and the yolk was still fresh.
Oiling them really seems to have helped with the long term freshness.
One guy said he knew a guy that had a grill on his boat, ran tubing that would collect the heat from the fire, then run that tubing through the seats.
Theres a chem plant up in the panhandle that has some navy surplus cauldrons they use for different social events throughout the year. They had a line run from one of their process steam lines over to their pavilion. They then get a steam hose and connect to the steam input on the cauldrons. They get way plenty hot to brown chili meat, etc. very quickly.
timtom got into the wheed again (ref: #10).
The stock is down over 5% so far and I’m sure it will get worse.
Wonder what the put options look like?
Morning, gang. I have things to do today, but hardly any motivation. We’ll see as the day wears on… I’m still eating breakfast cereal right now.
Wind was blowing before daylight this morning as I headed out to TOK and has only gotten stronger as the day goes on.
*Hat Tip* JJ Sefton over on ACE
A 73-year-old Arizona cattle rancher, George Alan Kelly, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder for allegedly killing an illegal immigrant from Mexico who trespassed on the rancher’s private property. The alleged killing took place on January 30th. Mr. Kelly is in jail, unable to make the bail that was set at an outrageous $1 million. And so began Mr. Kelly’s experience with Kafkaesque injustice. Rather than receive government protection against repeated instances of trespassing and harassment by illegal immigrants, Mr. Kelly has been charged with murder and jailed for standing his ground on his own property. . .
. . . The charge of first-degree murder against Mr. Kelly is a gross abuse of power. He should be freed immediately and the murder charge should be withdrawn. First-degree murder involves taking another person’s life intentionally and with premeditation. The only premeditation here was Cuen-Butimea’s commission of the crime of knowingly entering the United States illegally and then unlawfully trespassing on Mr. Kelly’s private property. Mr. Kelly is being persecuted for defending himself, his wife, and his private property with the amount of force he deemed reasonably necessary under the circumstances.

Dick Morris, the strange little dude, has some opinions on Joe, Barack, Michelle and the Hillary.
Former President Barack Obama has been something between the architect of Biden’s presidency and its puppeteer. He has designed Biden’s programs and political decisions and has put his people in all key administration jobs. Former chief of staff Ron Klain’s departure eliminates the main non-Obama force in the Biden White House.
Biden well realizes that he was consigned to the scrap heap of the Democratic Party in 2020, on his way to losing for the third time, when Obama swooped in to rescue him by arranging for Rep. James Clyburn to back Biden after he lost the first three primaries decisively. With Super Tuesday only three days later, Obama’s support for Biden got him nominated.
plus this,
That survey has Michelle nipping at Biden’s heels with 14 percent of the vote, while the president draws only 25 percent in his own party primary. Twenty other Democrats split the remaining 61 percent of the vote.
If Michelle runs, Clinton jumps into a grudge rematch of 2008 and the fight is on, Bubba. This could end in blowing up the Democratic Party. It’s a very different and touchy world compared to 16 years ago.
#18 Katfish, not to be rude but this has been all over the news since last week, is this the first you’ve heard of it? That said it’s certainly worth posting.

What I saw on ACE was the most extensive I’ve come across…………..YMMV
IIRC, the GoFu**Me folks took down the account that was raising money for the rancher, too.
GiveSendGo should have an account. Maybe I’ll go look and see.
Update: GiveSendGo does have a fund for him:

The former miniature Secretary of Labor, Robert Reich, made the usual fool of himself on Twitter. Amy Swearer of the Heritage Foundation gave him the intellectual beatdown he deserved.

Chicago – not the Greater Chicago area but just within the city limits – has less than 1 percent of the U.S. population but is responsible for almost 8 percent of these shootings since 2014. In 7 of 9 years, it had more than the entire state of Texas.
It’s very informative and entertaining.
Looks like “isolated thunderstorms” for my neck of the woods this afternoon, so I scrounged up some cutting tools and did a bit of trimming off the ligustrum bushes in the front yard. The limbs I wanted to remove were dead, so they came off pretty easily. Just about every limb or even twig that I left on had lots of new green growth. So far, so good. I think I’ll be able to salvage the general look of the bushes spaced along the front of the house.
I didn’t know this until a couple of weeks ago. I’d like to watch one of these launches.
The balloons stand taller than the San Jacinto Monument when they are launched from the NASA facility in Palestine.
And by the time they come down somewhere in West Texas, Texans from as far away as Sulphur Springs in North Texas and Amarillo in the Panhandle will have taken part in the scientific research.
Since 1963, the National Scientific Balloon Facility in East Texas has helped launch more than 1,800 such balloons for research projects from around the world.
The kinds of research involved include cosmic ray studies, infrared astronomy as well as optical and ultra-violet astronomy, gamma and X-ray astronomy and atmospheric sciences.
The facility, located a few miles northwest of Palestine on U.S. 287, is sponsored by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and has 80 full-time employees. NASA contracts for supervisory administration and for the last five years New Mexico State University’s Physical Science Laboratory has had that contract.
The size of balloons launched at Palestine has gone up, so to speak, from an average volume of 2.8 million cubic feet (MCF) in 1964 to over 40 MFC in recent years.
The increase in size has allowed the payloads to increase from an average of 407 lbs. in 1964 to more than 6,000 lbs. today.
Then there is this.
Each year, around 60,000 high-flying balloons are launched just by the National Weather Service, the agency said. They rise into the stratosphere, a layer of the planet’s atmosphere that extends to a height of roughly 30 miles. The balloons used by the Weather Service are designed to rise 20 miles up — far higher than the altitude of any of the four objects detected in the past 10 days.
Mr. Fetkowitz noted that Alaska — where a U.S. fighter jet shot down the unidentified flying object on Friday — had more weather-balloon launching sites than any other state.
The Weather Service’s balloons gather data that keeps passenger jets out of harm’s way and lets experts predict the likely onset of violent storms, Mr. Fetkowitz said. “It’s all about life safety,” he added.
If you are interested, I posted the first bluebonnet in Texas over yonder (At least the first one that I’ve seen. Bring it over if you like.
El Gordo’s; First bluebonnet in Texas that I’ve seen.
Looks to be in the little greenhouse?
Another icon of our era is gone.
But her pinups will last forever.
#29 – Actually it is just outside the greenhouse. That green plastic is the front of the greenhouse. Got lots of bluebonnets all around this year, but this is the first little bloom trying to pop out. The rest of the plants look good and healthy though since they’ve had a little rain plus a water assist from me as well. Maybe I’ll harvest some seed this year. Last year was a bad year for bluebonnets here locally due to lack of rain in the fall and winter. Thanks for bringing it over.
More balloon hijinks from our British pals
They burst their bubble.
UK pranksters have been accused of trying to start “World War III” after flying a “spy” balloon over the Chinese Embassy amid the alleged “balloon espionage” scandal between the US and China.
Video of their helium-filled fact-finding mission has racked up nearly a million views on their TikTok channel, Josh_and_Archie.
“We thought that considering the Chinese are such fans of these balloons that they would have liked it,” Josh Pieters, half of the online comedy duo Josh & Archie, told Kennedy News of the prank, which they filmed Feb. 8 at the People’s Republic of China Embassy in Marylebone, London.
Lol, that’s funny.
Everybody petered out on this blog tonight.
Forest Oil Company, founded in 1916 as an oilfield service company by Forest Dorn and his father Clayton, adopted a logo featuring the two-wicked “yellow dog” oilfield lantern. The logo included a keystone shape to symbolized the state of Pennsylvania, where Forest Oil pioneered water-flooding methods to improve production from the 85,000-acre Bradford oilfield.
Forest Oil Company adopted the “yellow dog” lantern logo in 1924. eight years after being founded in Bradford, Pennsylvania,
Forest Oil Company‘s oilfield water-injection technology, later adopted throughout the petroleum industry, helped keep America’s first billion dollar oilfield producing to the present day. Tucker’s about to talk about the revival in Asbury, KY. It wasn’t planned, totally spontaneous, started by students, and now folks are driving in and it’s been going for over 100 hours and shows no sign of stopping.
Worship, praise, and conversions are happening. Sounds like Heaven.
I’m sure there are some lefties absolutely seething. Too bad. Their loss.
Literally.
I got a call from my church tonight. It seems Fr. Felix wants to move forward on a rosary apostolate and they are looking for someone to teach a rosary making class.
Guess who’s already got class notes well under way, beads are being counted out, and shopping lists put together? The lady on the end of the phone was excited to hear that I’m already so far into the planning.
I love to teach. I love to make rosaries. Yep, I’m excited. May is dedicated to Mary in the Catholic Church, so that will probably be when we start. That will give us time to plan without bumping into another activity and time for me to complete my prep.
Cooling down all night long out here and then not going back up tomorrow. Greenhouse is still standing despite the strong winds today. Rose bushes, all in large pots, are still hanging on. Hedges are showing no signs of putting on new leaves at all, but they may just be late bloomers – or they may be dead. I’ll know next time to cover them up if we are going to get an extended freeze like the one we had in December. Talked with BFF’s sister today so the two of us celebrated BFF’s birthday and her life – neither could believe that its been a year since she passed.
Nothing else of consequence to report on today. More later as it develops.

Amen! That Max?
#36 Tedtam, I caught that, warmed my heart and give me a little hope for this old world. Remember most of those in attendance were young folks.
Not that anyone is interested but I’ve got the old GMC loaded up for a “Road Trip” to Clear Lake and then on to Bastrop. The good news is that my wife is going with me, she’s attending a Hen Party on Friday night (in Clear Lake) and I’ll be heading to Bastrop Friday afternoon after having lunch with my NASA buddies @ the Seabrook Classic Cafe. On Sunday we’ll get together with a few friends down in San Leon. Yup Life is Good. 😉
Last Fall my pharmacist advised me that I should hold off on the shingles vaccine because rumor had it that Medicare was going to cover the entire cost after the first of the year.
Glad she told me. It is now covered 100% by Medicare. Saving me over $400.
Thanks, taxpayers!!!
Yep, that’s ol’ Max.
Glad she told me. It is now covered 100% by Medicare. Saving me over $400.
Really! In February/March 2021 I paid $180 for the first shot and $195 for the second one! Both at CVS. FWIW; I really liked the first one, given by a little Oriental gal. 😉
GJT is pretty sick about the OC porch thing.
🙂
Good for you SD. Bout time you left the salt mine for a break. Buen viaje.
GJT is pretty sick about the OC porch thing.
Yeah that’s the version I should have done. I just had to have this one re-shingled. Original bast*rds didn’t do it right.
Thanks for the tip on the shingles vaccine. Had them a couple of years ago, but I think it’s time to reload.
In other news, night all.
I think the Shingrix vaccine is good for 10 years. But I don’t have to keep track of that, my PCP will do that.
Maybe not, ELG.
”How long does the shingles vaccine last? Studies show that protection remains higher than 85% within the first four years of vaccination. While protection from the shingles vaccine gradually wears off over the first five to eight years”
