Wednesday Inequality For All Open Comments

DO WATCH THIS 5 MINUTE VIDEO AND SHARE IT WITH ALL THE YOUNG FOLKS YOU KNOW.

The Census Bureau does not count two‐thirds of government subsidies to households (called transfer payments) as income or any taxes taken as reductions to income, so it overstates both income inequality and poverty. Counting all subsidies and taxes shows that income inequality is far less than claimed and continuing to fall.

These overstatements have justified higher subsidies to lower‐income households, which in turn have caused twice as many work‐age adults in lower‐income households to stop working.

By not counting two‐thirds of all transfer payments as income to the recipients of the transfers and not counting taxes paid as income lost to taxpayers, government statistics dramatically overstate income inequality.

Income inequality is lower today than it was three‐quarters of a century ago. The facts reveal a very different and better America than the one currently described in debates across much of the political spectrum.

We’re getting a pretty good rain right now. I woke up to thunder boomers and a light show. The rain started yesterday afternoon and we got exactly a half an inch overnight so we’re hoping for an inch or so today. The front will push through this afternoon and it’ll be fair and cooler. FWIW; It’s 73 and dang the rain is really coming down now 1.13″ an hour. (edited)

Former NFL Player Suddenly Dead At 38 of ‘Heart Failure,’ Was Outspoken Supporter of Vaccine Mandate.

Former linebacker NFL Uche Nwaneri has died at age 38.

He is remembered as a publicly outspoken supporter of forced vaccinations in order to prevent more deaths from COVID-19.

He was found unresponsive in the bedroom of his wife’s home in Indiana. An autopsy shows he died of an “enlarged heart with acute heart failure.” An official cause has not been released. Emphasis mine.

    ******

So I’d say that this one is NOT related to the stab but it’s like my wife and I were saying yesterday, that we’ll never trust the CDC or any of the Government so-called experts when it comes to anything relating to vaccines or viruses. We were discussing the young football player that collapsed on the field and she was convinced it was because of the jab. I said to wait and see then added the part about not trusting everything you hear.

.74″ of rain, 2.53″ an hour, wind 4.3, gusting to 6.9 MPH. I do love my handy dandy weather station.  I brought the receiver into my office from the Den so I can monitor the situation.   😉

    El Gordo from last night;

Let’s not forget that the leader of the pack in trying to tell us what Eye Patch was saying was not what he really meant to say. Berry was all in, even when the Patch started acting liker McCain. EP was talking about the need for gun control and such early on. Has Berry changed his mind? I don’t listen to him too much these days.

I guess you know “Eye Patch” is Rep Dan Crenshaw and his comment about Gun Control did it for me, I knew then he was worse than a RINO.

Dude, your just as bad as a Democrat when it comes to grabbing a narrative and continuing to throw it out there, false or not.

Yes, Michael Berry did support Crenshaw in his first candidacy, as many did, including myself. But then we ALL, not just you, started seeing “red flags” then Crenshaw went full bore with the Red Flag bill and that was it for ALL of us, including Berry. Berry mentioned it several times not understanding why Crenshaw could not see the snowball this would create for the left. Crenshaw continued with it and Berry had a very combative interview with him on air. Myself and a couple others tried telling you at the time Berry had turned on Crenshaw but you wouldn’t let it go and you continue with the bullsh*t to this day. Let it go man. Our side is fighting a losing battle and we need voices like Michael Berry out there.

A gun belonging to former President Theodore Roosevelt was auctioned off recently for nearly $1 million.

Roosevelt’s iconic Smith & Wesson New Model No. 3 Single Action Revolver sold for $910,625 at Rock Island Auction Company’s December Premier Auction.

The total realized price was within its estimated value range of $800,000 to $1.4 million, according to information shared with Fox News Digital.

    and,

“This sale had it all: rarity, beauty, history and so much more.”

Other historic items sold include outlaw Jesse James’ attributed Smith & Wesson Schofield revolver and holster, which fetched $152,750.

A Cuno Helfricht Master engraved Colt Model 1877 Lightning double action revolver sold way past its estimate, at a realized $323,125, Rock Island told Fox News Digital.

An extremely rare, exhibition-grade Gustave Young engraved gold Winchester Model 1866 rifle gaveled for a “monumental” $211,500.

Reading the info pamphlet that came with it, I was surprised to find that over 60% of fusions fail without the BGS. With it, the success rate goes up to 92%.

I guess I’ll wear it. I don’t want waste all of this pain for nothing. I did get my scrip refilled yesterday, so I feel better now, even though I’m hoping I don’t need it.  But if I fall or turn the wrong way, it’s nice to know I have something to get me through it.

From Mark Pusateri via email at the Copano Bay Press, Rockport Tx.

A small excerpt from Avery Carlson’s A Banking History of Texas, 1835-1829

Fort Worth in the 1870s was a thriving village of one thousand people. It was located at the juncture of two great cattle trails, the Baxter Springs and the Chisholm Trail, over which thousands of cattle were driven to Abilene, Kansas, the primary railroad terminal for shipping cattle to the slaughterhouses in Chicago.

Tidball, Van Zandt & Company served the credit needs of the many cattlemen. Money was scarce in Fort Worth at the time and a gold coin always attracted attention.

Major Van Zandt relates how an outfit of cattle drovers camped one night southwest of the city, purchased a liberal supply of provisions at a store and paid for the articles with a glistening twenty dollar gold piece.

The overjoyed storekeeper rode to town and paid his family physician. The physician then rushed across the street to pay his overdue grocery bill.

The valuable coin chased about the village during the day, paid over $200 in debts and in the evening came back to the original storekeeper in payment of some hay he had previously sold.

Then it was deposited in the bank for safekeeping, where it served as gold reserve for several days. This incident convinced Major Van Zandt of the value of sound money and safe banks.

Over the past few weeks my wife had issues twice with her heart rate suddenly racing. First time up to 160 BPM, suddenly dropped while EMTs were there, she was transported to Tomball ER anyway. Happened again two days ago, went 140, went away after about ten minutes. Found a recommended cardiologist, we are there now.

Morning gang.  Back from coffee and catching up with the goings on here on the couch.

My Michael Berry comments seem to have struck a nerve for some reason.  All of us make mistakes from time to time, myself virtually all the time.  But facts are facts.  I seem to recall that Berry was a rabid anti-Trumper when Trump first announced, declaring him to be a fraud and not what he was representing himself to be.  I realized that he changed his tune on that one too.  And then the EP situation.  Somewhere in the midst of all this, I moved from the Houston area and no longer listened to Berry except when I can get it on the web, so I did not know that he had split with EP.  Berry has a huge microphone and the ability to influence many voters, so when he makes a bad call, it is magnified several fold – so I just suggest that when he is introducing a new candidate, let’s hope that he does his homework rather than just relying on his network of good friends who can sometime lead him astray.  I ‘m not an anti-Berry person at all, and he is right most of the time.

Today I’ll be watching the Speaker’s vote again.  I’m seeing a surprising number of conservatives who are very critical of the dissenters of McCarthy.  Those guys are dug in so deep now that it would be political suicide for them to give up now.  So McCarthy has to get some Dem votes to get his dream job, or he has to give up.  He will not give up – this is the culmination of his life long dream, so he must be soundly defeated because he will never give in based on principle, of which he had none.  I have no idea how this may play out.  Even if he makes the necessary concessions to the dissenters, he will never forget the humiliation they have heaped on him – they did not follow the script.  And how could he ever show his face moving back out of the Speaker’s office after prematurely moving in.  The move in, like everything else in politics, was to give the impressions that the vote was already a done deal and to oppose him would be fruitless.  Should be an interesting day, but I’ll just say this.  I always felt that if McCarthy takes the office of Speaker, all the work we have done to elect Republicans to the House will have been for naught; I now feel that if he takes that office it will be even worse than I originally imagined.  We will be crushed along with the brave souls standing up against him.

You all have a great day.

  22. El Gordo Avatar

#17 – I hate to be the one to suggest this, but I had a friend who faced a similar situation a few years ago (older though).  He collapsed in a shopping mall, they did CPR, intubated him, packed him in ice, induced a coma, and left him there for at least 2 weeks before the family finally decided to let him go.  I hope that I’m wrong, but this young man has most likely suffered brain damage; to what extent no one knows.  A couple of other similar instances also come to mind as well.  That’s why it is important to get your DNR up to date and go with dignity.

There is no telling the circumstances of this poor man’s unfortunate turn of events.  Birth defects, trauma, covid shot, who knows.  How many times have we heard of the healthy man or woman collapsing on the track while jogging in the prime of life?  We just never know.  So I’m not going to speculate as to the cause, but I would hope that if it were me, I would be allowed to move on with dignity.  Just me, not trying to cast judgment on others.

When talking to my banker yesterday, he mentioned his son had an arrhythmia.  The docs performed a procedure, solved the problem.

     COMMOTIO NONSENSE ☙ Wednesday, January 4, 2023 ☙ C&C NEWS

Good morning, C&C, it’s Wednesday! Today’s roundup: a multiplier report; more commentary about Damar Hamlin, jabs, and blunt-force trauma; an optimistic report from Florida’s inauguration; and a new Louisiana law that will give you hope for the future.

Childers also reports that his multiplier for Libs of TikTok raised over $100,000.  LoTT has gone public (she’s come forward personally), and will be able to continue her work against the wokeism against our children, et al.

  25. Tedtam Avatar

On to current news at C&C:

Damar Hamlin is still in the hospital, … and the wary officials involved in his case have shut up. Yesterday, we learned a few things. First, Hamlin coded again at the hospital. Next, it’s now pretty well-established that Hamlin was jabbed… We also learned Hamlin was given nine minutes of CPR on the field — including defibrillation. The last thing we heard was that the unfortunate NFL player has now been attached to ECMO…The machine works via a blood tube inserted into the heart, which draws blood out, artificially oxygenates the blood, and then pumps it back in with a second tube. This technique is often used when ventilation alone cannot sustain blood oxygenation levels.

I’m still holding out on the jab connection, though a lot of people have been making valid points that the jab could have caused an underlying heart condition.  Being put on this sort of life support – where the lungs cannot infuse enough oxygen – is, to me, an indication that his lungs were affected by something as well as his heart.  The jab certainly fits that bill.

Without even examining Hamlin, establishment experts have already concluded that it is most likely that Hamlin died from a blunt-force injury called “commotio cordis,” an ultra-rare event that happens when a focused impact hits the chest wall at exactly the right angle and at just the right time in the heart’s rhythmic cycle to stop the heart.

In 100 years of NFL play, no one has ever died on the field from commotio cordis. That’s how rare it is.

Given how rare this injury is, and given that the lungs seem to be somehow involved…personally, I tend to reject this.  At first I thought it might be legit. The more I learn, though, the less likely I believe it to be.  Of course, the medical pros may be under a lot of pressure to come up with SOME explanation that doesn’t go against the narrative.  Then there’s this:

Dr. Peter McCullough — a top CARDIAC SPECIALIST — initially considered the possibility, but after he examined the film, ruled out commotio cordis….

Dr. M. says it’s usually caused by a small hard object, like a baseball or hockey puck; in young people without padding.

But here, Hamlin was tackled from the side, not the front. No small blunt force is in evidence… Most significantly, before Hamlin collapsed, he stood up and took several steps, which would have been nearly impossible for someone with a stopped heart to do. Finally, the commotio cordis hypothesis cannot explain why Hamlin’s heart was not quickly restarted by CPR or defibrillation, or why he remains in a coma.

Childers wraps it up thusly, using his ‘lawyer’s analysis’:

    1. Jabs are known to cause myocarditis, heart inflammation damage.  It is THE most common side effect.

    2.  The jab most often affect young men in their prime, like Damar Hamlin. Study after study has come up with the same conclusions.

    3. Hamlin is just the latest in a worldwide epidemic of athletes dropping dead on the field. Taking a hit may have just been the trigger for his body to succumb to the internal weakness.

I wasn’t aware that Hamlin was able to take a few steps before dropping.  To me, that kills the commotio hypothesis, as it’s hard to do that when your heart has stopped. So I’m leaning more to the jab-induced heart weakness.

    From Childers:

So, on the one hand you have this ultra-rare type of injury that’s never happened before in 100 years of NFL play, which doesn’t fit well with the facts, and requires special pleading to explain inconvenient facts like how Hamlin stood up after the hit, was hard to revive, why he re-coded at the hospital, why he was unable to breathe on his own, or how his chest pads didn’t sufficiently diffuse any trauma ruling out the type of focused strike needed to stop his heart.

Oh and GJT, if you’re lurking I drove up to the Tractor place to scope out the third function valve and the new manifold from Kubota (Land Pride). Turns out it has the third function plumbed all the time so you can theoretically use all functions at once keeping in mind that with only 7 GPM the more functions you use at the same time the slower the operation. I can tell this with my present dual function unit. Now, the new third function will be a momentary toggle switch that would be great with a grapple but not so good with a mower since you’d have to hold the button all the time. The Lane Shark folks supplies the mower with a switching unit that bypasses the momentary switch so you can turn on the mower and go. Of course when you do articulate the front end boom the mower may slow some but that only last seconds and the huge flywheel should keep her spinning pretty good.

BTW; I just went to check things out but the next thing I knew, my tractor is scheduled for elective surgery on Thursday morning.   😉

“We were like a family,” she said. “I would say Shooters, for any employee, was their life. We lived and breathed it every single day. They were a part of this culture and brand that we created in Rifle, and there was a lot of pride with that.”
In June, Boebert was told by new landlord Milken Enterprises that her lease wasn’t going to be renewed. Boebert said the letter came as a shock. She soon called the landlord but “there wasn’t really much wiggle room or anywhere to compromise unless we bought the building ourselves.”
“Within the next two hours, I had reporters reaching out to me asking me if this was true and if we were being evicted,” she said. “I said, ‘Well, we’re not being evicted. The lease is not being renewed — that’s a big difference.’”

The new landlord claimed their decision to not re-new the Grill’s lease was “not political”

If ANYONE believes THAT “aint political” – I have a bridge in Nebraska to sell You!!  *no smiley*

    RE: Boebert’s restaurant lease

The two men who are partners in the Milkin Enterprises LLC that bought Lauren Boebert’s restaurant building are named Mike Miller and Dan Meskin.   I didn’t find any political donations listed in their names, but they have owned the local “medical marijuana” dispensary there in Rifle, Colorado for at least 10 years.  I guess they had to do something with all that cash.

    A Buck,

Prayers for you and your family on the loss of your father. I think Our Lord makes one numb at such times time so we can make it through the funeral and the early stage mourning phases…. And he is still there, you just can’t see him.

Sorry for the late reply. 🙁

I have trouble keeping up with the post and saw yours the other day but forgot to thank you for the kind words of encouragement.

As I should do also for all the couch members.

Well, I told you all that I have been slacking off keeping up with all the political goings on.  And yes, I talked to my brother, and Lauren is his representative.  But he doesn’t much talk about her with his wife or daughter as they are flaming libs.

My brain damaged friend’s homecoming from the nursing home has been moved up to tomorrow.  Just got a call from his wife telling her that they’ve had enough of him so they are shipping him out.  I’ll go over Friday and give him a hard time for a while.  Hopefully we can come to accept that the good times are over and major lifestyle changes are underway.  I would not be happy about it, and I doubt that he will be either, but sometimes dealing with reality is just hard to do.

OK, back to watching the vote count.  More later.

Unless this was done in private and changed hands without any listing or offer to public, then Boebert and her husband would’ve known the property they leased was for sale.  If so, why didn’t they buy it ?  If you are a lessee and running a business you know that anytime the ownership of the property changes and you have a new lessor, all bets are off and your lease may not be renewed.  She also lost the lease for her congressional office.

Rifle, Colorado is about 10,500 people and the Boeberts, Meskin and Miller have been in business there for at least a decade.  They had to know each other and it would be unusual for this commercial property in this small town to be for sale without everyone knowing it.

  67. Tedtam Avatar

I got the impression that Boebert was leasing from the landlords, and the landlords suddenly decided to not renew the lease.

Not that the building was being sold, the landlords just probably didn’t like her politics and open carry attitude.

  68. Tedtam Avatar

Okay guys, pictures really won’t be forthcoming.  I’m not at my most attractive right now, which usually requires a cement truck full of make-up and an army of hair wranglers armed with quart jugs of product designed to prevent the do from filling my living room.  And a better wardrobe.

Right now I’m wandering carefully around in my slippers, shorts, and t-shirt, with the occasional ice pack shoved down the back of my shorts. Yes, if I were to go outside like that, I’m sure I’d get disapproving looks.  When I don’t have a lump in my shorts, I tend to have a corset over the t-shirt in the form of modern armor called “a back brace”.

The BGS goes over that whole mess.

Ain’t really pretty.  Don’t want to break any camera lenses, much less lose any friends.  And heaven help me if I dash your fantasies.

Y’all just keep on with your imaginations.

EG – my sympathies for your friend.  Adjustments like this are never easy.  I remember how hard I tried to keep Mom as independent as possible for as long as possible.  We all had to finally acknowledge that the time had come. I helped her downsize her belongings and get her into the nursing home.

Sad time for me.  I think I took it harder than she did.

Several adjacent buildings were sold by the original landlord of Lauren Boebert’s restaurant in Rifle, Colorado to a LLC owned by Mike Miller and Dan Meskin.  The lease on the restaurant and her next door congressional office were both due for renewal at the same time.  The LLC informed Boebert they were not renewing the leases.  We don’t know if they wanted her out for political reasons although it’s quite possible.  The Boeberts may also have not wanted to agree to a higher rent or other terms.

Boebert said Miller and Meskin made a purely business decision and politics were not mentioned.

I’ll be tuning in to a little more of the sausage making on selection of a Speaker here in a bit.  I’ll do it so that you don’t have to.  I would expect that by now a deal has been cut with the dissidents, and it should be all is forgiven, come on back into the tent time.  And McCarthy will be the Speaker.  And we the voters will all be screwed once again by thinking we were really doing something by returning the House to Republican rule.  Ha ha, the jokes on us.

Anyway, I’ll report back with any serious news that I stumble across. All my usual sources have clammed up, so something is going on.  They usually cannot wait to get out and spill the beans. And they would never admit that they don’t know or have been excluded and can’t get information.

Regarding Mrs. Frank Luntz, aka Kevin McCarthy:  Seeing as how he is getting big push back from a not insignificant minority, what are the odds that someone has shown him some blog postings of just how much the deep state, particularly Rs are hated by the very voters they claim to want?  Izzit possible that he may be having a change of heart?  I put the chance of this at about 15%.

Hope springs eternal, but reality and history can not be ignored.

Tucker Carlson just raked Eyepatch McCain over the coals in front of the entire nation.  Crenshaw looked like a complete jackass.

  80. Tedtam Avatar

I saw that.  Can Crenshaw do a proper crawdad with the eyepatch?

  81. El Gordo Avatar

TP – the reason EPMc looks like a complete jackass is because he is a complete jackass.

In other news, I got all fired up to see what was happening, and the McCarthyites opened the meeting with a motion to adjourn.  They called for the yeas and nays on the adjournment motion, and in a rushed up vote, it carried 216 to 214 with 4 or 5 members having not yet voted.

So now guess I’ll go catch up on Tucker.

Of course, the adjournment means that McCarthy was unable to persuade enough hold outs to come over to his side, so he’s afraid of another public vote where he comes up short.  So let the sausage making continue.  They should most likely all be fed to the sharks and we could start over.

Well, we just sit tight on the election of a Speaker and go on with our lives since we personally don’t have a say in it.  I know, but the representatives we elect in the House are the ones who have a big say in the matter and they ought to be aware that we can read newspapers and watch proceedings on TV with the sound turned up so we can hear what’s going on from two rooms away from the TV while household chores are accomplished.  And the distance from the TV likely saves the TV from punishment if things go crazy wrong in our opinion….

In other news, it’s a little early this evening, but it’s getting colder.  I’m going to go finish something on TV and then call it a day.  You all have a good evening.  More later.

Meanwhile, Republican establishment types are running around with their hair on fire, shouting about unity and warning that Republicans will pay a steep price unless they can show a united front in the early days of their House majority.

    Hogwash.

One way or another, this will all be over in a few days and we’ll all go back to binge-watching mindless dramas on Netflix and planning our Super Bowl parties. A month from now, Rep. Jim Jordan will be holding hearings that won’t result in any Democrats paying a price for their treachery during Trump’s presidency, the House will once again be spending money like drunken sailors, and Congress will continue to get next to nothing useful done for the American people. Lather, rinse, repeat. Delaying the start of the congressional session by a few days, or even a month, won’t matter one iota. By the time the 2024 election rolls around, no one will care that there was a protracted fight for House speaker in early 2023.

    plus,

But no matter what happens, the beauty is in the process. If he wants to sway the 20 dissenters, McCarthy should show a path forward that could result in real change in the way the House conducts its business. He should commit to transparency and rules reform that will stop the practice of pushing through mammoth spending bills one minute before midnight at the end of the congressional session. Unfortunately, he’s shown no indication that he wants to change the status quo, and the 20 holdouts know that. So let’s have that fight.
