GJT – every year, the newsies play footage of people standing in line to pick up pies from there for Thanksgiving, wrapping around the block… I’d say that it’s a good thing that she went when she did  😉

TexMo she tried calling The Flying Saucer to order, they told her they didn’t take orders, to just come get them. She was ably to walk in and get seventeen, all different varieties. That was Friday, I think, the lines will grow as Thursday looms, probably have already. Not sure about stock.

Early to bed out here tonight so I can leave early in the AM for Marble Falls.  Should be back by noon if all goes well.  Temps are supposed to remain above freezing but should have some precip.  Nite nite all.

I assume Granny Hamous’s eyesight is failing and thus didn’t notice the pin up girls.

So yesterday I didn’t notice Godzilla in the WIP. Today I did notice the nude pin ups behind that picture of Dan Akroid and Chevy Chase.

I’m not sure if this classifies as a vision problem or if everything is all in order. 🙂

Wife has been out delivering Flying Saucer Pies all day to past clients, this morning she asked me to take stew meat out of the freezer to thaw and get it seared and ready and she would do the rest. I have my way of doing stew which is not the same as hers so as a trained hubby I… Read more »

108 El Gordo When I came up with that recipe 20 years ago by combining several different recipes, farm-raised Atlantic Salmon was $6.99 per Lb.  It is now $12.99 per lb. so it’s up to $33 to $39 for the main ingredient.  We usually make at least 2 meals for both of us so it works out to $8-$10 per… Read more »

I’m still alive! Ms. Adee I finally broke down and hired a handyman earlier this summer to paint, remodel a half bath, and take care of a bunch of little maintenance issues that I’ve put off for over a year. He even recently painted my living room and fixed some drawers in the kitchen. My wife and I had a… Read more »

It’s been another dreary day out here, but the temp did get above freezing so it’s not icy outside.  l chipping away at some little chores but nothing very heavy duty.  I’m kinda getting sleepy, but its too late for  a nap and too early for bed.  That big old apple cobbler is still sitting over there cooling and testing… Read more »

My #91 BTW; My contractor recommended adding soffit to the underside of the eaves to keep the critters (birds) out. The barn is fully enclosed. I thought this was a good idea and only a little bit more $$$. The picture is looking up from the inside before the outer tin was added. The tin would have been just outside… Read more »

The boys coming for T’giving told me to make a list of chores that they can help me out with when they come, so I’ve taken them up on the offer.

Do they operate chain saws and tractors? If so, send em over, they can put up in the Farm House and I might even fix em some grub. 😉

I made holes in the rib roast and stuffed minced garlic and patties of butter into the holes. Then I seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic, & paprika. I thought I had cheese cloth to cover it with, but paper towels had to suffice.

Well, I’m struggling this morning. Like Adee, I go fetch my (Sunday-only) HouChron from the driveway. Thinking it might have landed in the street, I finally decided to walk further… Read more »

#84 Texpat, Quite a listing of Texas papers there.  Anybody suspect this is a nefarious effort to turn Texas purple at least when so many papers are owned by Hearst?   That used to be a well thought of outfit.  Long ago and far away.  Things have reached the stage that if they say it’s raining out, you have to go… Read more »

Here is an interesting article on Australian lithium mining. In 1980, another metal was found at Greenbushes which, at the time, didn’t give the mine owners much pause for thought. Lithium, a soft, silvery-white reactive alkali metal, was considered more of a geological oddity. A small-scale mining operation began in 1983, extracting lithium for use in niche industrial operations like… Read more »
