Weekend Open Comments

The J.P. Morgan Library and Museum in New York City

I’ve walked by this place many times on 37th Street at Madison Avenue and swore I would some day go back and spend a day there.  I haven’t made it yet.

His mother was 40 years old when Jesse was born. Jesse grew up in a very rough home in Morgantown, West Virginia. Jesse’s father, who was mentally ill, was a violent man and was abusive to Jesse. At 13, his father died leaving his mother to take care of him and his brothers. At the time, things weren’t easy for Jesse and he didn’t think life held much hope for him. While Jesse had his struggles, he had dreams too. He wanted to be a ventriloquist and he found books on ventriloquism. He practiced with sock puppets and saved his money until he could get a real ventriloquist dummy. When he was old enough, he joined the military. The military recognized his talents and placed him in the entertainment corp. He toured the western Pacific Islands as a comedian as part of a G.I. variety show called “Stars and Gripes.” It was there he was able to share his talents with fellow soldiers. In 1946, he discharged with rank of Technician Grade 5, which was the equivalent then of a Corporal. During his military service, Jesse was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal (with 4 bronze service stars), Army Good Conduct Medal, Marksman Badge (with an M1 Carbine) and Honorable Service lapel pin. Through his military service, Jesse gained confidence and found that he had a talent for making people laugh. In spite of his early struggles, Jesse became one of the best-loved characters of all time. For it was Jesse,…Jesse Don Knotts who brought us Barney Fife!

    What a beautiful library.

Libraries – possibly the most underutilized resource we have in this country.

I remember being forced to my local library to use their computers when our internet went down at the house.  It was the middle of a workday, and I was trying to pull up city maps and across from me were four young men who should have been in school.  They were concerned about setting up their Myspace pages (it *was* a long time ago).

    I sat there thinking:

    Why aren’t you in school?

Why is the librarian not telling you to get back into school?

If not in school, why not working?

You have the knowledge of the world at your fingertips, aren’t you even curious?

You have the knowledge of the world at your fingertips, don’t you want a future?

Are you going to be asking for my tax dollars to support your lazy butts in the future?

Or are you going to be carjacking me because you are not not qualified to hold a job?

Are you going to blame white people for your failure in life?

    Today’s C&C is up:

Happy Saturday, and welcome to the weekend edition! As promised, the roundup includes: the Trump-Desantis story; thoughts about this election and the next one; ghost stories of the neo-apocalypse; election news; high-schooler beats trans madness with help from lawyers; and the FBI makes some personnel changes anticipating a Republican House.

Those last two items really piqued my interest.   Let me go and get my coffee….

  8. Tedtam Avatar

    From C&C:

Wherefore art thou, Romeo? I’m considering starting a new regular feature: the ghost-story. These would be the news items that, for various reasons, the corporate media SHOULD be covering, but aren’t. They’ve become angry invisible spirits, vexing us with their absence.

That would be an interesting feature, but it would be a long list.

    1. MonkeyPox. [detail omitted]

    2. Paul Pelosi / David DePape. … Now that we’ve had time for reporters to actually dig into facts of the story, abcracadabra, it’s disapparated! Vamoosed! High-tailed it! Lit out for the border!

Oh. And there’s STILL no security video.

Out, damned spot of inconvenient news!

    3. Excess Deaths. … But despite the undeniable existence of massive waves of excess non-covid deaths, starting in 2021 and increasing in 2022, in every highly-jabbed nation in the world, corporate media remains as silent as the tomb. [I see what you did there! 😉  ]

    /snip

Maybe the reason corporate media is so quiet is that it, itself, is just another excess death victim. Maybe it’s already died, and now we’re just watching the media corpse’s noisy decomposition.

  9. Tedtam Avatar

Then Childers discusses the rude Donald remarks about DeSantis:

Childers expounds on the pounding that Trump took after the election.  At the very least, the broad media coordination proved that GOP elites are working together to prevent Trump’s nomination.

Lots of screen shots of hugely anti-Trump images, etc.

Then the theories of Trump’s actually helping DeSantis, playing 4-D chess, etc.  Trump has always been able to play the media and make them look idiotic (not a hard task, actually, and something that needs to be done more often if they are to become an honest press again).  Lots to read there, not bringing it here, so I suggest you go and check it out for yourself, should you be so inclined.

    Then Childers makes this point:

There is a much simpler possible explanation about the brouhaha than all these various theories. Despite all the chatter, Trump isn’t actually running for President right now. He is running for the REPUBLICAN NOMINATION.

    /snip

So, the simplest explanation for why Trump would go after DeSantis, even relatively mildly, is because the primary race has begun. This is what Trump does. And before anyone gets too high and mighty about it, Trump is only doing publicly what they ALL do behind the scenes.

    /snip

Remember Occam’s razor. The simplest explanation is usually the best.

The biggest problem with Trump’s political methods are, IMO, that he does just that – does publicly what goes on behind the scenes.  People want to think they are supporting nice, honest, well-meaning folks, so that’s what politicians show us.  Who knows (or wants to know) what goes on with the sausage and king making after all?  Trump is in some ways, like a kid – no filter.  He is what he does, and he doesn’t hide it or run from it.

We know what we’re getting with him.  Good or bad.

  10. Tedtam Avatar

Childers then has these recommendations for coming political season [Emphasis mine]:

    1) Don’t overreact to primary season politics.

    2) Don’t put Trump, DeSantis, or anyone else on a pedestal or excuse them from the normal rules. Avoid the “Superman” fallacy. We are STILL going to have to save ourselves. LOCAL elections remain the best place to focus your time and energy.

    3) Make sure YOU don’t contribute to an un-civil environment that helps fracture conservative unity or drive MAGA people toward a third party effort. Trump needs to stay in the Republican Party and run for the nomination, with all that entails. EXPECT the nominees to attack each other.

    4) Don’t attack other conservatives; feel free to go after people for fostering conflict, but not about holding different opinions or even promoting something false. Contradict false facts with links to the truth and not with angry rhetoric.

    5) Finally, allow for the possibility that there could be strategies unfolding behind the scenes that we don’t fully understand. So always view the latest narrative skeptically, keep your powder dry, and stay positive.

I realize not everyone agrees with my prescription. That’s okay. But what *I* will be doing is trying to stop a wedge from being driven between conservatives, and trying to shut down any discussion of third parties.

A civil and fair nomination race is critically important.

  11. Tedtam Avatar

Then there’s the discussion of the butt-whipping we conservatives just suffered:

    /big snip

Here are two examples of how better organization translates into votes.

Democrats have massive ballot-harvesting operations in states where it’s legal (and maybe otherwise), and drive voter turnout from the first day mail-in balloting starts all the way through Election Day, whereas Republicans have no organized harvesting strategy, and focus only on vote-driving for one day: Election Day.

Here’s another one. Have you heard of “Souls to the Polls,” the … program for black churches to bus members from church to the voting booth the Sunday before Election Day? Where’s the Republican response? It’s not like they don’t know about the problem. …

While it’s tempting to try to find one explanation, it’s not just a “cheating” problem. That’s a convenient excuse and a distraction. I’m not saying it doesn’t exist and isn’t a real problem….I’m just saying that cheating is not the whole picture.

    /snip

Conservatives MUST get better organized. Biden only won because of about six large counties. They’re playing Moneyball, right down to precinct level. Republicans need to expect cheating in counties under total blue control, and have strategies for countering it.

There are ways. For example, Arizona conservatives used a clever strategy this week of dropping off their mail-in ballots on Election Day, to confound cheating attempts. Because mail-in ballots are counted last, the strategy made it harder for cheaters to know how many extra ballots they need.

That means our think tanks need to start earning their keep, or we’ll need new ones.

I agree with the point that R’s need to be more organized.  As I see it, the main problem is in the mindset.  Dems are easily emotionally manipulated and thus easily controlled and managed.  A liberal already has the mindset of wanting to be part of a crowd and wanting to believe they have the virtuous upper hand.  Conservatives, OTOH, are more independently minded, being self-accountable and thinking more for ourselves.

Democrats have the job of herding sheep, Republicans the task of herding cats.

  12. Tedtam Avatar

    Now, on to trans-madness:

The New American ran a story yesterday headlined, “Vermont High School Backs Down Over ‘Transgender’ Incident After ADF Files a First Amendment Lawsuit.”

Earlier this year, a Vermont high-school disciplined girls’ soccer player Blake Allen, who’d complained about a boy who watched her undress in the locker room. School officials accused the girl of “misgendering” the boy, by calling him a boy, and ordered her to attend a “restorative circle,” whatever that is.

    /snip

The Allens contacted the Alliance Defending Freedom, who filed a 124-page lawsuit against the school. Shortly thereafter, the school’s superintended rescinded the disciplinary actions.

I’d like to say that reason prevailed, but we all know the school only backed down because of the threat of legal action.

I think I’d be yanking my kids out of any school with a “restorative circle”.  Sounds like a coven.  Probably not far from the truth, actually.

If schools, et al, only respond to legal threats, we need to organize more of these efforts.

I am making space for more shelves and trying to clear out some of the office area.  Since we’re semi-retired, I don’t need a second desk and am in the process of shredding voluminous amounts of paper as I try to work at my bookkeeping (still catching up – food preservation takes up a lot of my time).

I am giving my second office desk away to a family who had to take their son out of school because of bullying.  It seems the administration of the school couldn’t/wouldn’t stop it.  I don’t know what it is about the young man that brought this on, but I do want to support the parents’ attempt to home school their son.

I told them they could pick up the desk when they were ready (it’s on the porch now), and to just pay it forward when they had the chance.

  14. Tedtam Avatar

I was talking to Hubby about stuff this morning, and I reminded him that I have a doctor appointment to discuss possible back surgery on Tuesday.  Since Hubby’s had his surgery, he suggested that we look into trying to get mine fixed – we’ll have met our deductibles and such for the year.  It’s kinda late, but we’ll see what happens.

I filled out the paperwork, but I had to include an extra page of medical history that their intake forms never thought to ask.  Things like low blood pressure (might be important if you’re going to sedate me), the possibility of a congenital deformity in my pelvic structure (would that affect the nerve pattern in the operating area?), and my thunderclap headache/migraine history (they may want to prepare for that in pre- and post-op procedures).

Like I told Hubby, everyone is concerned about high blood pressure, but no one seems to think about us low BP folks.  We have a different set of concerns during surgery.

Good bright and very breezy and cold morning, Hamsters.  We got our front all right, cold as promised, 43 here this morning at 6 and 7 and 8.  Now 53 but still cold in the wind that is pulling more leaves off the trees that are almost bare.  The live oaks are almost the only green spots now.  Yesterday’s rain has already made the grass greener.  Definitely winter wardrobe time.

The visiting nurse came again yesterday to record how well I’m doing in getting stronger and more mobile.   Part of the strength determination was squeezing her hands as hard as I could, and I did with considerable and unexpected force.  She was amazed, as I was.  Wow she said, what have you been doing?  Reply was having horses for 42 years.  She said that would do it regardless of age.  🙂

My recovery is proceeding at a faster pace than she expected, and I am walking more steadily day by day.  Can walk down our driveway back and forth several times without becoming worn out.  Still go at my usual faster pace, can’t walk slowly when I can march out.  And more of it without my cane, which I increasingly forget.  Out to the mailbox and back without it.

It’s such a beautiful day, I wish I didn’t have so much to do inside.  I have stuff to do upstairs, after I treadmill.  And I need to start prepping for Hubby’s car club party here in a matter of weeks.

    Maybe tomorrow I’ll garden.

Biden Snubs America’s Heroes on Veterans Day, Goes To Egypt To Speak About Climate Change.

On Veterans Day, you might think that President Joe Biden’s top priority would be to attend the annual Veterans Day ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery.

You would be wrong. Instead, Biden skipped Arlington National Cemetery and visited Egypt to attend an international climate conference.

This shows how out of touch Biden really is.

Democrats care more about international climate issues than supporting our brave veterans at home.

Biden spoke at the United Nations’ COP27 climate change conference in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.

Year before last, I bought a ribeye roast and sliced my own steaks.  It was fantastic and somehow I managed to get everyone’s steaks cooked to their request which was a challenge.  Fortunately, I have a large grill with a fairly decent sear burner.

The men were especially happy, but the women pushed me back to cooking birds again last year.  This is, by far, the smallest Thanksgiving crew we’ll have this year – 5 adults and 1 child.  I’ve had as many as 18 or 19 in the past and usually 12 -13 guests.

  40. Tedtam Avatar

For years, Eldest Sis had Thanksgiving.  Attendance began to peter out, just like my attempts to gather family at Christmas.  Then her hip started to go and it became painful for her to be on her feet and carry all that food around her kitchen, even with help.  So she stopped.  Since no one seemed to care about having Christmas again at my place, I gave up on that, too.  Not spending hundreds of dollars and stressing out for weeks for one sibling to show up.

The sisters talked recently, and I think we’re going to shoot for something in October.  That’s close to Lovely’s birthday, so we’ll see how it gets scheduled and if I get invited out of town for that weekend.

For a few years, we went to Thanksgiving at Aunt D’s place in Deep East Texas, but since we’ve come to feel total disgust at how her kids treat her, we quit going.

So, it’s just going to be me and Hubby.  We’ll have a ham and some sides.  He’ll probably work on his car, since that gives him joy.  I’ll probably toodle around the house, doing my thing. Like any other day.  Got to mass and give thanks. We might watch football.  Neither one of us are football fans, but it’s tradition, right?  But with streaming, we can do Columbo.  Or a movie.

  41. Tedtam Avatar

That video is sad.  I have a hard time believing the smaller plane had no idea that huge plane was right in front of it.  There’s no way anyone survived that.

  42. El Gordo Avatar

The small and fast P-51 is a low wing aircraft, while the B-17 is big and lumbering.  If you look closely, the B-17 is below the P-51, and the P-51 is descending while banking left.   The P-51 pilot cannot see the B-17, or he though he was fast enough to pass in front of it – hard to tell from the video.  We’ll see if my go to guys post on this later today.  Terrible loss, and we don’t even know if the B-17 was carry8ng passengers or not.  There are not many P-51s still flying either.

If you didn’t know that airplane had the engine mounted behind the pilot and some sort of canon fired through the propeller hub.

  45. El Gordo Avatar

I was just getting ready to update that Brother Dave.  I was just guessing based on the video, but I expect the news report to be correct.  https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/two-planes-crash-air-dallas-air-show-rcna56920  Still a WWII fighter.  No word on fatalities either in the planes or on the ground.

That probably signals the end of the WWII airplanes offering rides and possibly even performing at airshows.  There have just been too many people killed in these old birds and public will demand an end to it is my guess.  They’ll all be headed to the museum here soon.

The Commemorative Air Force was originally the Confederate Air Force until the name became too politically incorrect.  They had fields in Harlingen, Midland and San Marcos if my memory serves.  Back in ancient history when I was living in Lockhart, they had a couple of P-51 Mustangs in San Marcos and would fly them frequently.  I could hear the P-51 long before I could see it and always got a big kick out of seeing it pass low overhead.

Joel Kotkin says all the Democrats have done is postpone an inevitable brutal reckoning.

For all their cautious optimism yesterday, a mild midterms victory may prove the last thing the Democrats need. If they had performed as predicted, the Democrats and their media adjuncts would now be busily dissecting their defeat. But what has to be considered a lost Republican opportunity — gaining little in a country where lifespans are now dropping — also means that the Democrats will be slower to address their weaknesses, and may be forced to accept the unpopular Joe Biden as their leader in 2024.

    and,

Sticking to such a programme threatens the party’s already weakening hold on working-class voters, in particular those threatened by climate policies. Over time, the economic implications of Biden’s green agenda may be obvious, but for now they are hidden amid massive deficits and increased transfer payments. However, as Democratic strategist Ruy Teixeira has noted, in the longer run, the party’s emphasis on “de-growth” and austerity is unlikely to attract middle and particularly working-class voters. Already, the political implications of climate policy have ruined the Democrats’ best chance to take the GOP seat in Ohio.

If you want to hear the straight, hard truth, always listen to Michael Barone.  I call him the godfather of electoral analysis in America.  He may be a conservative, but Barone publishes the Almanac of American Politics every 2 years and there is not a single Democratic operative, pollster or consultant in the nation that doesn’t carry a copy of the latest edition.

This year, DeSantis won reelection by 19 points, a 1,506,000-vote margin, in the state that George W. Bush carried in 2000 by a 537-vote margin after 35 days of recounts and litigation.

DeSantis carried 62 of 67 counties and won 16% from black people. He carried Hispanics 52%-45%. He carried majority-Hispanic Miami-Dade County 55%-44% — the first Republican governor to win there since Jeb Bush in 2002. He also carried heavily Jewish Palm Beach County, the first Republican governor to win there since 1986. He carried majority-Hispanic Osceola County, which includes part of Disney World, 53%-46%.

DeSantis won majorities from women, as well as men, from all age groups, from all income groups, and from every religious group except Jews (he got only 42%) and those with no religion (only 40%). Overall, the DeSantis victory looks like the model for the durable national Republican majority that neither George W. Bush nor Trump was able to deliver.

This Florida model may be applicable further than the disappointing, for Republicans, Senate election results. On current returns, DeSantis won by larger percentage and popular vote margins than Democrat Gavin Newsom in California and much larger margins than Democrat Kathy Hochul in New York or billionaire Democrat J.B. Pritzker in Illinois.

Critics have tried to diminish DeSantis’ victory by saying he had a lame weak opponent, etc, etc.  The facts are the man conducted an absolute electoral blowout in the state of Florida in virtually every single category.

I already had the Fall system checkup booked for the 21st, so we’ll just make-do till then. I put a portable electric heater in the family room, and the 5 male cats have all been taking their naps in their choice of a dozen cat beds in that room. The 2 females seem to prefer the beds in other rooms that they always use. For myself, I added a second quilt to my bed and that was nice for my afternoon nap.

I put my lectrick blanket on the bed last night.  Tonight I may have to turn it on.  It’s pretty chilly up here on this hill with the north wind blowing through.  We did stay above freezing last night, but there was frost on my windshield this morning.  Going back to the football den now where the tv is playing and I’m bundled up in a blanket.

Tell you how old I am.  I was at the Armadillo World Headquarters on opening night in Austin back in 1970 when Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen played that night.  I got to hear them play that “Hot Rod Lincoln” song that night.

A bunch of my friends and I had been somehow recruited to help this nerdy little CPA named Eddie Wilson come down there and volunteer to paint, build and clean up at the last minute so the place could open because he had run out of money to pay any help.  I thought he would go broke in a week.  It became a famous venue known world wide despite my skepticism.  Eddie did eventually go broke, but it took years.  Then he bought the old Threadgill’s place, another once upon a time hangout of mine.

    Matt Margolis at PJMedia:

So where do things stand now? Currently, at the time of this writing, Democrats have won 198 House seats compared to the GOP’s 210 seats. That leaves 27 seats that have yet to be called, and the Republican Party only needs to win eight of them to reach the 218 seats needed for the majority.

    Based on DDHQ’s map, I’ve found at least 10 undecided House races where the GOP candidate currently has a lead: OR-5, CA-3, CA-13, CA-22, CA-27, CA-41, CO-3, NY-4, NY-19, and NY-22.

There are some caveats here. There could be more races that I couldn’t find on the map, and other trackers may have already called some of these races. Also, some are really close, with enough outstanding ballots that some could change. This, of course, similarly applies to races with Democrat leads. Nevertheless, when the Democrats have to win 20 of the outstanding races, and the GOP only has to win eight, it’s clear that the GOP is in a more favorable position.

It sure would be nice if that wood burning stove were already installed for a nice cool morning like this.

All the masonry and sheet rock work is complete. They need to install the stove. Then I need to do four test burns with small fires. This is required to “break in” the cast iron plates in order to prevent thermal shock from cracking the plates that comprise the six sides of the stove. Then probably on Wednesday I’ll need to build a raging fire and they’ll conduct a “heat test”. Basically they’ll aim an infrared laser thermometer at the existing outer walls to ensure they do not get too hot. Additionally they’ll take temperature measurements where the mantle will be installed to make sure that doesn’t get too hot.

After all that the mantle will be installed. I have my own painter coming on Wednesday to start painting the living room. So hopefully by next weekend this entire project will be completed in time for Thanksgiving. Once it’s all done I’ll post before and after pictures.

Just remember to never try and buy a pool in May or buy a wood burning stove in December. It will take months to get you on the schedule.

Disturbed young men are resorting to hitting themselves in the face with hammers to try to look more attractive.

They are ‘involuntary celibates’ or ‘incels’, part of a misogynistic subculture on shady online forums where users exchange fantasies about rape and mass murder.

Members believe in a conspiracy theory called ‘black pill’, a nihilistic ideology which preaches that its followers are doomed to a life without sex or relationships due to their genetic appearance.

Filmmaker Ben Zand, who investigated British incels for a new Channel 4 documentary, said: ‘The ideology tells you that if you are not attractive, you don’t have any hope. That leaves you with three possible outcomes – you can kill yourself, you can kill other people, or the one redemptive option is radically changing your appearance.’

    JOKE OF THE DAY:

For several years, a man was having an affair with an Italian woman. One night, she confided in him that she was pregnant. Not wanting to ruin his reputation or his marriage, he paid her a large sum of money if she would go to Italy to secretly have the child.

If She Stayed In Italy To Raise The Child, He Would Also Provide Child Support Until The Child Turned 18. She agreed, but asked how he would know when the baby was born. To keep it discrete, he told her to simply mail him a post card, and write ‘Spaghetti’ on the back. He would then arrange for the child support payments to begin.

One day, about 9 months later, he came home to his confused wife. ‘Honey’, she said, ‘you received a very strange post card today’.

‘Oh, really? Let me see…’, he said. The wife gave it to him and watched as her husband read the card, turned white, and fainted. On the card was written: ‘Spaghetti, Spaghetti, Spaghetti. Two with meatballs, one without. Send extra sauce.’ 😀

I just got all my chili fixins’ sauteed in the Instapot after chopping everything up and getting my spices all together.  Now to spice it up and pressure cook it for 1- or 15 minutes then let it return to normal atmospheric pressure slowly.  I could put it in an iron Dutch oven on the stove for a coupler of hours, but that would be one more thing to have to clean up, and honestly I’m not sure I could tell the difference.  I do like the way my Instapot works with stuff like chili and soups.  Just for the heck of it, I might go ahead and have a scrambled egg with my taste test here in 45 minutes or so.  By them it should be getting close to nap time.  Sundays are a tough day around here – nothing on the radio, noting on TV.  I might go find an old war movie or something on one of the free movie sites.  Since you asked, I find good free movies primarily on You Tube, freevee, and Tubi.  I buy the Amazon Prime but their stuff has turned all awful and I seldom watch anything on it anymore.  I fired Netflix a few years ago.  Sometimes I’ll look at some of those other off the wall sites for a good 1950’s sci-fi/horror movie or something.  The good thing abut those movies is that the scripts could be written today by these enviroweenies or politicians – the world is about to end unless we do this or that for me type stuff.  Algore made his fortune doing it.

Has anyone heard this story before ?  The Daily Mail claims exclusive reporting, but it appears law enforcement and the US media have kept a lockdown on this disaster.  Why ?  It appears they are more worried about not bankrupting the company more than they are about the patients.

Twenty million Americans are at risk of ‘dangerous’ healthcare after a cyberattack at one of the country’s biggest hospital chains last month, security experts have told DailyMail.com.

CommonSpirit Health — a system that runs 140 hospitals, and more than 1,000 care sites including cancer clinics, surgery hubs and stroke centers— suffered a major IT breach on October 3 in a ransomware hack.

The FBI, Department of Justice and CommonSpirit have refused to comment on the scale of the attack, how many sites were affected and whether or not the issue has been resolved — despite multiple requests by DailyMail.com.

It means Americans across 21 states could still be at risk of receiving faulty care, and there are already signs the cyber hack has had real consequences on patients.

A three-year-old boy in Iowa was accidentally given a megadose of opioids on October 4 when the computer system which tells doctors how much medication to give was shut down.

And other patients — including those with brain bleeds, ovarian cysts and cancerous tumors — saw their surgeries delayed by up to a month, despite being referred for ‘urgent’ care. Ambulances were also diverted away from a struggling hospital which was hit by the cyberattack to one not run by CommonSpirit.

Anonymous posts by people online claiming to work at CommonSpirit hospitals around the country described patient care as ‘terrible and unsafe’ since the attack, claiming they are treating patients without full access to their digital medical records.

James McGibney, a former cybersecurity expert for the marines, told DailyMail.com the situation could still be ‘very dangerous’, especially if doctors are indeed are caring for patients without access to their files.

I didn’t find a comprehensive list of Texas hospitals, clinics and facilities on their websites.  The sites are typical, blase, full of boilerplate healthcare argle-bargle that don’t say anything of real substance.

Know this.  These are members of CommonSpirit Health:

    Good Sunday Afternoon Hamsters,

A whole 34 graced the thermometer at 6 this morning and frost covered the pastures.  Quite a change from yesterday’s mugly humidity and heat before the fall temperatures started arriving.  Canadians left the door open for us.  Thank you, Canada. We currently have clear blue skies with a few friendly clouds, a light breeze, 38% humidity, and 57 degrees at present.  Rain is predicted for tomorrow, but we shall wait and see.  Most of the time this year when rain is forecast for our area, it all ends up over Houston and points east. Or it stops just short of I-10 out our way, so we can see the clouds over yonder but that is it.

Cullen, responsible for killing an estimated 400 patients during his sixteen years of working at hospitals across New Jersey and Pennsylvania, pled guilty to the murder of 29 patients in 2003. He’s now serving 18 consecutive life sentences in New Jersey State Prison.

Despite all of this, as the film’s closing subtitles confirm, “There have never been criminal proceedings against any of the hospitals.”

Handyman told me Krogers had sausage on sale for $3.99, $2.99 if I used the digital thing.   I found raspberries and blackberries on sale for a buck a package (about half or more of the usual price), so I put a bunch of those in my cart. Then I went around to the meat section and found the sale sausage, and it was Italian sausage as well as dinner sausage (garlic flavor), so I bought some of that.  The Italian sausage will come in handy when I start making lasagna.  I also found beef roasts for $3.97 with card, so canning this afternoon!  I found it amazing that chicken wings are kissing $5.00/lb when thighs were half that.  So I bought thighs, which Hubby and I both prefer over chicken breasts.  Because I spent over $100, I got a free turkey, too.  We’re not turkey people, but it’s free protein and I can make stock from the carcass as well.

We are low on eggs (finally), so I swung by the egg station.  I’m used to buying them by the case and paying case prices, so I almost fell over when I saw what the torture eggs were going for.  I stood there, thinking we were low on eggs and then realized – No we aren’t!  I have jars of eggs and I can use those until I can get to the eggery again.  I went by the butter and I swear it’s gone up almost fifty cents since I last went by it.  I realized I have fats stored up – bacon grease, butter (ghee), coconut oil, olive oil, etc.  I walked by the store butter feeling relieved.   I’m going to wait until closer to Thanksgiving to see if Aldi has it’s sale like it did last year.

In all, I saved almost $100 today.  Fred’ll be winding up again here soon and I have to get stuff in the canner and the oven.  I guess my schedule is set for the afternoon.

I was just telling Hubby how liberating it was to be able to walk by the eggs and butter and not feel constrained by the prices on the shelf.   “I was thinking we were almost out of eggs, and then I realized- no we’re not!” I said.

Man, that was a good feeling.

I saw that earlier.  I have no words for the absurdity of George W. Bush disappearing for years from the public arena, abandoning Republican candidates and then suddenly partnering with this Zelensky who is out promoting his own personal war against Russia.

Some kid in his 20s is running a Ponzi scheme stealing billions based on totally imaginary currency.  At least Bernie Madoff stole hard, cold cash – the real thing.

Some 20 million Americans are at risk medically because their healthcare/hospital network is being held hostage by some hackers, but they don’t think it’s necessary to tell anybody.

Biden, Fetterman, electing dead congressmen…6 million more Republicans voted than Democrats in 2022 and we still lost.

Oh, and for icing on this rotten cake…Asa Hutchinson is so completely deluded or genuinely stupid, he thinks he has even a sliver of a chance at being president of the USA.

There are plenty of reasons to fear the end of Western civilization and expect an impending apocalypse.

Nope, daughter Aggie, SIL Sam Houston State. Well, that’s one couple. 😉

Asa Hutchinson is from the Bush/Cheney/McSwin/Cornyn wing of the party….NOT….A…..SNOWBALL’S….CHANCE in the primary, let alone the general. MERCY! Delusions of Grandeur personified.

    Third World Electorate

Nobody wants to say it, but Trump didn’t make Pennsylvania vote for a potato any more than Mitch McConnell did. The truth is, Pennsylvanians got what they wanted in John Fetterman. The Left’s cynical, sentimental approach worked: voters identified with a victim in a hoodie with a superficial “working class” image pushing class envy. If we’re going to discuss “candidate quality,”  Dr. Oz can at least speak coherently. He should have won easily, and there is no reason to suppose another Republican would have fared better. The problem here is voter quality.

The picture we got from Tuesday is that of a decadent, vegetative electorate easily swayed by platitudes and sentimental appeals, fervently attached to its entitlements. Within the living memory of many Americans, abortion was widely illegal and considered a grave evil. Americans now appear to regard it as a treasured right. In Montana, voters even rejected a measure to provide life-saving care to infants born alive after a botched abortion. Republicans performed well with married men and women—the people who should be the center of our civic life, while Democrats dominated with unmarried women and the twitchy, nihilist Gen Z.

    Again: voter quality. “

Has anyone heard this story before ?  The Daily Mail claims exclusive reporting, but it appears law enforcement and the US media have kept a lockdown on this disaster.  Why ?

I received a letter from St Jos Houston regarding this attack from CommonSpirit Health.  I have never been a patient there but my Mom and Dad were.  I was the main contact of record for them.CSH must not have know that they have passed.  But anyway CSH was pretty forth coming with what happened and the ramifications.  Their suggestions to me was to enroll in Life Lock.  I have no words of wisdom to other affected by this, but knowledge is power.

I visited St Jos website (it ain’t St Jos anymore) owned by Steward Health Care and CHS to see what they had to say on their websites.  The story has been out for some time.  I chased down info on the cyber attack itself from the letter I received.  Here is a pro-tip. I use the Euro version of https://www.newsnow.co.uk/h/.  More info on everything that we do not see here in the states.  Australia is suffering a similar attack.

Our nation garners about 43% of all attacks world wide according to Microsoft and Cisco..  Our little hole in the wall here is not exempt.  I am looking into purchasing stronger security.  I can see every event that takes place on the blog.  Imagine my surprise when I saw that I had failed login from Bogata Columbia.  There is one “bot” in particular that tries to break in 20-30 times a day.  There is another that regularly attack 10 times a day form the good ol USA.  Again IP addresses spoofed.

I posted this picture because a long long long time ago on my windows machine I got hacked.  Well they got all my passwords.  I suspect the guy that used my name prolly got my name off a dark web site and decided to try a very old password.  A L L my passwords  are 15 characters long so good luck.  So far my name is the only one I’ve seen, I will let y’all know if I see any other members name.

I do know that most attacks are from Russia. They are pummeling everything in the United States including electric companies, water companies, gas companies basically infrastructure. I have read many stories about the attacks…… we never hear anything form our media, hence the web page I gave you above.

Hey but don’t worry bout it.  How bout a nice cute puppy video? I K I D

There is joy in Green Bay tonight as the Packers pulled out a winner over the Cowboys, in overtime.  Cowboys were shocked undoubtedly.  Must have been the cold air and the Packers fans who kept hollering encouragement to their team, cheering them on and not giving up.  Guess that might be a correct thing to do for a team that is owned by the city of Green Bay, and many thousands of shareholders in the club as stockholders.  Like us.  🙂

Thanks for the link and background information.  I’m not unaware of the cyberwars although I don’t see it like you do up close.  I don’t know it’s ever going to get better and probably it will be worse.

Oh, and one other thing, could you find better looking puppies next time ?

Son-in-law, daughter, grandson and I took Her Highness out for her birthday to the new smokehouse BBQ joint in the area.  Their food was okay, brisket was passable, but they would never survive in Texas.  The place may do just fine here with virtually no competition in the genre.

There was a TV over the bar area and it was hard to not watch the Packers vs Cowboys game.  Some of the sideline play calling on both teams was pretty bad and I noticed on the last down on offense by GB in regulation, Aaron Rodgers walked over and berated the offensive coordinator.  It was a terrible call and Cowboys defense was all over it.  I didn’t even have to read Rodgers’ lips.

Voter quality, stealing elections and the perpetually duped goopeecons is the winning combo for the Devil’s regime from here to eternity.

I bet the GoopeeCons don’t even ask for a recount and audit in Nevada.

Squawk, for the record, my son-in-law said at dinner tonight the nation is done, over…toast.  Once the country elects a demented old fool like Biden and then follows it up with a Fetterman, the citizenry has compromised its sovereignty.  He believes the broad stupidity and ignorance of Americans today is probably not salvageable.
