Facebook Is Now Fact Checking Eucharistic Miracles
“Facebook is inserting itself into Church affairs for no good reason.” Nailed. It.
This story isn’t about my religion. It’s about Facebook’s inserting itself into my religion.
Items of note:
1. The picture posted is NOT the picture from Ireland, but another – though mistaken – “Eucharistic miracle”. Someone just used a picture to go with the story, not a picture FROM the story.
2. The Church doesn’t just celebrate every “miracle” as if it were true. There are strict testing guidelines before a miracle is proclaimed. Many times, these events are not miraculous, even though people may think so.
3. The Church has barely begun investigating the event in Ireland yet, so no determination of “miraculous” has even begun to happen.
4. Last, but not least, why in heckfahr is FB trying to determine whether an event is a sacred miracle? The folks there wouldn’t recognize “sacred,” “holy,” or “miraculous” if it slapped ’em in the face. And it should. Because they need it.
5. I don’t need FB to inform me, protect me, or guide me on anything relating to my religion. They don’t know my faith, understand my faith, or respect my faith. The fact that they think they can tell me anything about my beliefs is…utter hubris.
