The new Top Gun movie was playing at the drive in theater so we went, it is very good. Should have watched the original again prior to going to get reacquainted with all the players but we remembered most of them. Probly will pull it up to watch just for grins.

The bacteria in the tooth has a byproduct of gas. The gas is trapped in the tooth. Gas expands in the presence of heat and contracts with cold. Your body heat is enough to make the gas expand and put pressure on the remaining nerve endings in the tooth and in the jaw. This causes the intense pain, and it explains why cold water takes away the pain.

I sure hope somebody covers that dry dock loading.

This just in from the Battleship TEXAS Foundation:

The dry dock that will lift Texas for repairs is on its way to Galveston. It has now cleared the Florida Keys and is in the Gulf of Mexico. Things are happening!!!

Hopefully, they can get her to Galveston before the hurricanes hit. And hopefully, Galveston is where she stays.

I didn’t anticipate putting on this many miles in 15 months.

Too many commutes to out of town hospitals and rehab centers….in addition to having a high mileage job.

The 2021 second row seats are not considered removable. But it can be done.

That’s why the 2017 is in the running. Its either that or the Ford Transit Wagon passenger van version of their cargo van. More cubic feet, hatch back but no storage wells from the stow and go.

If you’re not going hybrid and loading it up with a buildout…..

Oh well. There is an outside chance that gasoline will go back to $2.

Toyata full replacement warranty on 2021 high voltage battery is a completely separate warranty…..150,000 miles.

But no hybrid. I found out that the battery needs to be changed after 10 years and its $15,000 in today’s money. Not the kind of money I want to spend when I turn 80.

I figger that after pulling out those seats, the added wight from the bed, power stations and such would be a wash on the GVW. If I take out the center console in the front, I can get into the back of the van without opening the door.

I’m no longer on my HOA board, but it mostly still consists of the people I worked with over the last several years. They did a fabulous Memorial Day event, complete with free swim, great chow, and even remembered to do a moment of silence about halfway through the afternoon. The weather was fantastic, too.

On a Sienna???? Yah. Research shows me a 2017 is best for my purposes. Basically, pull out the middle row seats and rails and the wide stow and go seat in the back, leaving the passenger side rear seat. Use that deep recess for the stow and go for storage and a bed behind the driver’s side. Would need to install an inverter with a battery cut off and use the power stations as pass thru power. I run a microwave and the 12 volt fridge that way. The microwave would draw a bunch of power for about three minutes… Read more »

On a Sienna????

Well I’ll be.

Couldn’t be happier with mine.

No joke.

41,000 miles in 15 months. No warranty claims yet.

Can still get 38mpg with a couple hundred pounds of tools and crap in the hybrid, if I drive like an old woman.

May 30, 2022 9:56 pm

Yah, the thinking is going like this right now. If I do the $800 buy in and try it that first month and it sucks b/c I’m in a congested area, I can suspend the service until I do a trip far enough away or of long enough duration to need it, I can pay for the month the trip is in. There’s been a couple times a year it would have been convenient to upload video files. The laptop I have does tolable good with the editing software I have, so I can complete and upload a whole video… Read more »

Shannon says: MAY 30, 2022 AT 9:29 PM267 Sarge I assumed you had good internet where you are. Your assumption is correct. But maybe Starlink is better for a busy YouTube star like you? Yes, uploading to YouTube when on extended trips is a consideration, but so is staying connected without running up data on the phone when out in da sticks. I’ve read that if your dish orientation ends up being virtually like a bowl, cats and other critters may take up residence on chilly, sunny days. The new dishes are flat, cats slide right off. Therein lies the rub.… Read more »

And if it is more oriented slightly towards the horizon, there can be absolutely no trees or other obstruction. Period.

May 30, 2022 9:14 pm

If I ordered Starlink for my home right now, I’d be put on a waiting list, based on my address. But they just announced Starlink for RVs, which ships immediately and costs the same per month. The drawback is that the RV service has a lower priority than the home service when in the same area. Positive is that the service can be paused—you buy it a month at a time. So if you’re going camping or hunting or visiting Gramma seven states away, you pay $135 for a month of service, then pause it when you get home. The… Read more »

in Katy right off I-10 pulled an abscessed molar for me in 2019 for about $275.

Dude. Katy has like 6 exits.

Can you narrow that down a bit?

500,000 people now live in “Katy”.

My last cracked molar happened right before a weekend I had arranged with a sister and sister-in-law. I wasn’t going to miss it, the condo was reserved, etc. My dentist told me my option to get it pulled in time was to go to the dental college’s emergency clinic, and I needed to be there early. They opened at 7 a.m. I got there about 6:15, and a line was already forming. I made it in, and was assigned to three students. I’ve told the story before, including the best punch line I’ve ever made. It was the longest effort… Read more »

I keep running out of spit:

Biden administration officials uninvited many of the Border Patrol agents and other law enforcement officers who responded to the Robb Elementary School shooting from a meeting with the president scheduled for Sunday in Uvalde. Despite the event being planned for a large open-space facility, administration officials cited space as a reason for the retracted invitations.

I believe I mentioned that I had a tooth problem show up a couple of days after Fay broke her leg and ankle. As the pain began to get annoying, a friend came across with a ten day round of antibiotics. By the sixth day of that regimen, I began to get intermittent relief. Last Thursday was a bad day and I finagled a local dentist appointment. Not unexpectedly, they referred me to a root canal specialist in Katy Cinco Ranch. Those folks gave me a courtesy call on Friday to inform me that should a root canal be performed… Read more »

Wagonburner #244 Not trying toplay now top this.  I traveled all over Europe.   France has probably the most WW1 and WW2 cemeteries with Americans in them.  Too many that are American only.  30 or so that I know of, some very large and some small.  A couple come to mind that are just off the beach of Normandy.and Loraine.  Very very humbling to see those places. There is a cemetery outside of Kaiserlautern FRG that is especially interesting.  It is illegal to display the swastika in Germany.  To get around that it was not unusual to have the military… Read more »

Tables Of Knowledge exist in restaurants and cafes across rural America. I’ve seen my share.

Never saw a woman at one.

Now, I don’t think a woman would be unwelcome.

Unless she showed up with a friend and made a habit of it. The men would then just meet somewhere else.

Occam’s Razor explanation is that old women don’t want to get up early and get all gussied-up to go sit around with a bunch of old pharts shooting the breeze.

220 squack On one of my trips to Europe some years ago, I came across Tyne Cot, one of the British Commonwealth Cemetery and Memorials of WWI. It is the largest Commonwealth cemetery in the world. It has just shy of 12,000 graves, about 8,500 of which contain an unidentified body, of Commonwealth soldiers who were killed in battle nearby. This one like many others was started next to a forward aid station for reasons you can likely surmise. Though this is the largest, there are many, many such places all over the place in western Belgium. Commonwealth flags are… Read more »

Well, I’ve spent hours on the floor, a few on the couch, now I’m sitting up in my special back chair with a cold pack in place.

While I’m at least partially vertical I’m going to take care of some bills that came in over the past few days. We canceled our dinner date with Handsome and LDIL. Hubby didn’t want me to push myself too hard.

He really does lubs me.
