Wednesday Still Missing Him Open Comments

We’ll all still be commenting on Hammy’s passing, I’m sure.

EDIT by Texpat.  Photos of Mark in our possession are few to none, but here is one.

Given my very, very strong suspicions that his heart failure was caused by the “vaccine,” I was even more incensed to find this article at ChurchMilitant.com:
POPE HELD HUSH HUSH TALKS WITH PFIZER CHIEF

I think y’all recall my feelings about this Pope. I was totally shocked when he not only gave the green light, but PUSHED the jab. Even after it came out that Pfizer did, indeed, include abortion related tissue in its development of the “vaccine,” Pachapapa continue to force the injection on staff and visitors. There were a number of bishops who pointed out the problem, but the Bishop of Rome just waved his middle finger in a vague attitude of dismissal. He continued to not just say “I’ll understand if you want to take the jab” but “You have a moral imperative to get injected!!!” There’s a big difference in those two stances.

Now, we may know why:

VATICAN (ChurchMilitant.com) – Pope Francis held secret talks with Pfizer plutocrat and veterinary doctor Albert Bourla at the Vatican during the height of the China-virus crisis, a Vatican journalist is reporting.

/snip

Speaking to Church Militant, scientist Dr. Alan Moy, founder of the John Paul II Medical Research Institute, noted that “Pfizer has a disturbing track history of unethical behavior that includes paying fines for corporate bribery.”

Pfizer was the biggest corporate spender from 1999–2018, spending $219 million on lobbying (93% of the industry total) and $23 million on campaign contributions (around 10% of the industry’s total giving to politicians), Church Militant earlier reported.

“I think the optics raise concerns that there could be potential financial conflicts of interests between Pfizer and the Vatican,” Moy, CEO and co-founder of biotech company Cellular Engineering Technologies, said.

“If Pfizer has an exclusive contract with the Vatican for their vaccine, then there needs to be full disclosure and transparency about this contract or any other financial relationships,” Moy, a faithful Catholic, insisted.

Church Militant asked the Holy See Press Office if the Vatican would disclose agreements between Pfizer and the Holy See in the interests of transparency (as vaccine behemoths like Pfizer have disclosed only 7% of their contracts with governments and published clinical-trial protocols for just 12% of trials).

A report by Transparency International and the University of Toronto titled “For Whose Benefit?” warns of dangerous levels of secrecy that reveal “a disturbing trend of governments censoring key details of their [vaccine] orders from drug companies.”
/snip
The Holy See administers only the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 jab to the residents and staff of the world’s smallest sovereign nation. Leaked Pfizer contracts show the company is protected from all damages and liabilities in the case of adverse effects from the shot.

“We can’t confirm or deny as, per our policy, the movements of our executives are considered confidential,” Pfizer told Vaticanist Edward Pentin, author of The Next Pope: The Leading Cardinal Candidates, refusing to reveal if Francis met Bourla in secret.

The revelations also follow Vatican secretary of state Cdl. Pietro Parolin’s granting an “abortion absolution” exclusively to the Pfizer jab, pursuant to his claim that Pfizer used “cell lines from aborted fetuses only in the preliminary stages of vaccine testing in the laboratory, but no cell lines from aborted fetuses are included in either the composition or production.”
Lying Pfizer Gets Busted

Despite a devastating Project Veritas exposé of top company officials and leaked emails revealing Pfizer uses aborted fetal tissue in its vaccine program, Parolin refused to grant religious exemptions on grounds of conscientious objections to the abortion-tainted jab.

Pfizer’s own stem-cell-research policy acknowledges Pfizer has been using human embryonic stem cells in its research which “may provide even greater potential due to their increased ability for self-renewal and capacity to form a wide variety of cells and tissues.”

All Vatican employees are currently forced to get vaccinated or show proof of recovery from COVID-19.
/snip
“Pope Francis’ rhetoric is inconsistent with the December 2020 statement from the Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith that vaccine acceptance should be voluntary,” Dr. Moy told Church Militant.

Meanwhile, the hush-hush parleys between the pope and Pfizer are reigniting speculation over the Vatican’s secret concordat with China…condemning it as a “deal with the Devil.”

Months before Parolin renewed the deal, exiled dissident Guo Wengui accused the Vatican of receiving $1.6 billion every year since 2014 in bribes from the Chinese Communist Party because Beijing “wanted the Vatican to shut up about China’s religion policies.”

Wengui also claimed the Chinese government was paying the Holy See $100 million before 2014. The tycoon did not specify when the payments initially started. Beijing has branded Wengui an attention-seeking criminal. But the Vatican has yet to deny the allegations.

/snip

In Dec. 2021, a leaked database of registered members of the CCP exposed a mass communist infiltration of American companies, including 69 infiltrators in four Pfizer branches in Shanghai. Pfizer did not respond to press inquiries for comment.

There is more, but this is more than enough. If the Pope hadn’t pushed the jab, how would this have affected the narrative? But then, he cozies up to the baby killers with a smile, so I shouldn’t be surprised.

PS: It feels weird to be posting on Hammy’s blog without him here. /sniff

Super busy day ahead for me.

    Some more thoughts on Hamous.

Many Christians are CINOs. They show up for Christmas or Easter services and that is it. A few more show up on the occasional Sunday or perhaps a few more and that is it. People like Hamous were a rarity. He showed up most Sundays when he wasn’t traveling AND he lived his Christian life. There is no doubt he was a devout Catholic and that his religion was the basis of his world view.

It took me awhile to realize that Hamous really, REALLY disliked clowns. At first I thought it was some sort of joke then I realized it bordered on a true phobia. I always enjoyed others and myself included taking digs at that phobia by poking fun of him or by posting articles or pictures pertaining to clowns. I always got a chuckle out of that.

Despite having never met Hamous in person, his departure from this world leaves a hole in my heart. I considered him a friend.

TexMo Also last week wagonburner posted a picture of Mark with clown hair and some might say that it was in bad taste but I just know that Mark got a kick out of that knowing we were thinking about him. FWIW; I’ll never say a thing here in the future that I don’t think he is watching to see what is going on and if I’m behaving.

    BTW; I contacted David Jennings, (Big Jolly) and Lee from down-under to tell them bout Mark, not sure they knew. Then I contacted one of the two NDT Techs, Eddie N Allen, that I worked with at the Rocket Ranch since they both worked with him, well one still does. So Eddie responded with this;

Allen had told me about his sudden death January 8th but didn’t have anything other than he had been found in his home after neighbors noticed his vehicle had not been moved for several days.

That explained the time lapse, I wondered why he hadn’t showed up after Monday the third if he passed on Friday the seventh. Heart attack is usually instant so I assumed he had a stroke and passed later but since Tedtam says it was a heart attach then he died Monday night? Not that it really matters but I wonder what the date/time of death the Coroner established on the Death Certificate.
I hope this don’t sound morbid but I’m a practical guy.

Mark’s last comment here was on Monday, January 3rd.  In fact, he made the last comment that night.  The date of death is listed as Friday, January 7th, but that apparently is the day he was found and declared dead.

If neighbors found him after several days of his truck not leaving and no activity, then nobody really knows when Mark died.  My question is this:  Why didn’t Mark’s co-workers become alarmed and come check on him over several days ?

My guess is that since he worked from home nobody may have noticed.

When I’m working from home, unless I’m working directly with someone, I have no idea if a given person is in or not. If they’re not, I figure it’s a dentist appt or personal day or something and send an email.

Being the week right after the holidays, maybe people figured he had taken that week to visit family.

I can see how some people may have minimal interaction with others during certain times or maybe even all the time.

For my job, that is just not the case. I get messaged on Teams or called on Teams multiple times a day. There is always a project manager, project engineer, controls engineer, controls designer, Piping engineer, pipe designer, and the occasional civil/structural engineer or electrical engineer that comes knocking on my door Every. Single. Day

And I didn’t even mention the client.

Not only did he work a lot from home, he also spent a lot of time on the road. Not sure how much daily communication he had with the home office, but I can see where many of his colleagues would find nothing amiss for him to be gone for days at a time. It seems that circumstances of his routine working life could have allowed him to not be missed for at least a couple of days.

    tap, tap, tap.

Just letting y’all officially know that I am still here.

    Emotionally hung over, but here.

One thing from 7th grade and Miss Foster’s English class that I remember was a poem called “Patterns”. I can’t find it now, but it dealt with a young lady’s reaction to the death of a loved one. Keeping up with the patterns of her life – rising, dining, walking, etc. – is what carried her through the grief. Why that one discussion has stuck with me all these years is puzzling, since my first real brush with death was still a few years into the future.

But I get it. Knowing Hammy is not with us here on this material plane anymore hurts, but keeping myself busy and getting back to normal – whatever my “normal” is – will get me through until the hurt recedes.

I have a feeling that if Hubby precedes me, I’ll be throwing myself frantically into “things that must be done”. Doing the familiar until the unfamiliar becomes familiar.

I can certainly understand throwing oneself into work at times like this. I tend to be a very habitual type of personality, so that is kind of what I default to. Left current job yesterday and went to an interview for a new position. It went pretty well in my estimation. Went home after that and put in some time on stuff for my own business. After a crappy night’s sleep I woke up this morning to the realization that I am going to have to undo all of the work I did on my own business. Fortunately I can revert back pretty easily. But yeah, I sure ain’t myself.

    *COVID NEWS AND COMMENTARY*

Yesterday, the hardworking January 6 Committee subpoena’d three lawyers plus a Trump campaign advisor: Rudy Giuliani, Jenna Ellis, Sidney Powell, and Boris Epshteyn. (Epshteyn was a special assistant or advisor to President Trump or something; reports vary.) This new set of subpoenas, coming on the heels of the previous day’s set directed to social media companies, highlights the Democrat election strategy and the problems with Congressional investigative powers.

First, the subpoenas to Giuliani, Ellis, and Powell, are particularly problematic because they intrude on or impair the attorney-client privilege and traditional notions of confidentiality between a client and an attorney working on the client’s matter. The Committee’s twitter feed explains why it’s so critical to get these lawyers’ documents:

The four individuals advanced unsupported theories about election fraud, pushed efforts to overturn election results, or were in direct contact with the former President.

Oh, unsupported theories. Well okay then. We can’t have that. Except … isn’t a theory something unsupported by definition? I mean, when it’s supported, it’s not a theory anymore, right? So confusing. Science is getting hard to keep up with.

So it’s time to look a little closer at what the Committee is up to. They have now subpoena’d thousands of people and interviewed hundreds more. Why? According to the enabling resolution, HR 503, its purpose is to investigate and report on the January 6 riot at the Capitol and make recommendations to Congress, such as how to improve security and stuff. Which makes sense, I guess. But the investigation is MUCH broader than that.

The discovery powers provided to House investigations by law is extremely broad. And there isn’t much case law about it, because usually the House restrains itself and does not generate volumes of litigation which lead to cases and opinions by judges. But what little law there is suggests that there are few limits to the scope of inquiry and there are very few defenses to responding. Over the years, courts have repeatedly stated that they want to stay out of the legislative branch’s business, and they give House investigations great deference.

For one illustrative example of how powerful these investigatory tools are: if a person wants to object to a House subpoena, say on Fifth Amendment Constitutional grounds or something, then their objection will be ruled on — not by a Court — but by … the chair of the same House committee that issued the subpoena. And there’s no clear right of appeal once the chair denies the objections. The objecting person has to wait to be found in contempt, and only then has to quickly move for a writ of habeas corpus asserting their constitutional rights. And, they can only do that in the DC Circuit, which is the House’s home town.

Those nearly-unlimited are in sharp contrast to the libraries of law and container-loads of court oversight of CRIMINAL investigative powers, as wielded by the Executive branch — everything from local police to the FBI or the DOJ. There are tons of laws, tons of defenses, tons of case law, and tons of court procedures available to challenge overbroad, invasive, or irrelevant discovery requests by police. You have clear Constitutional rights and simple ways to assert them. Law enforcement can’t just have whatever it wants; it must first show probable cause.

Not so for the Committee. And the January 6 Committee has only 2 Republicans on it — one of them is never-Trumper Liz Cheney, who was kicked out of her state’s Republican Party. So, with a huge and critically-important election season bearing down on us, the potential for over-politicized investigations is at its historic peak.

So here’s what I think is going on.

I think the House Democrats are using the vast, unbounded, and nearly impossible-to-resist legislative investigatory powers of a House committee to gather evidence that NEVER could have been gathered through law enforcement. Never ever. They are building a huge database that will provide generations of odious opposition research into political opponents and — I predict — a massive wave of jumped-up, overhyped criminal prosecutions of conservative leaders, advisors, speakers, activists, donors, and even Republican political candidates. Just in time for the 2022 election cycle.

I hope I’m wrong. I’ve asked a bunch of DC lawyers, and most of them just shrug it off, saying, yes, it’s possible, they COULD do that, but they never WOULD. Because restraint. But I am still concerned because HR 503, the resolution that created the Committee, repeatedly refers to the events of January 6 as “the domestic terrorist attack on the Capitol.” Here’s a link to my copy of HR 503: https://tinyurl.com/9w49a5vf. I am puzzled why the House would describe it that way unless there were some domestic terrorists someplace. And if there ARE domestic terrorists hiding under Nancy Pelosi’s bed, they need some prosecution, or SOMETHING, don’t you think?

The Committee will soon be in a position to turn over massive amounts of “evidence” to DOJ prosecutors — prosecutors supervised by that icon of un-restraint, Merrick Garland — that the Committee has gathered using the broadest discovery powers anywhere, powers that are broad because they are supposed to be reserved for lawmaking activity, powers that Garland’s DOJ lacks.

Since I’m running long, tomorrow I will explain how this January 6 Committee is most historically similar to the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) in the 1950’s and 60’s, and what that suggests we can expect going forward.

A new Rasmussen poll (from late December) found that 79% of Republicans, 58% of unaffiliated voters, and even 41% of Democrats believe it is at least somewhat likely that cheating affected the 2020 election. The 58% of “unaffiliated” voters who think there was likely to have been cheating in the election is going UP — now +4% higher than the last time Rasmussen took the poll.

Rasmussen also asked whether those surveyed thought that the hundreds of millions of dollars Mark Zuckerberg spent on the election was “good for democracy.” Only EIGHT PERCENT (8%) agreed.

Just saying what Rasmussen found. Don’t cancel me.

Fomer FDA Commissioner and brand-new Pfizer executive Scott Gottlieb is, apparently, on board for Narrative 2.0. The UK Daily Mail ran an article yesterday headlined, “‘This signals the end of the pandemic’: Ex-FDA chief Scott Gottlieb contradicts Fauci and says ‘dramatically different’ virus strain is unlikely after Omicron as cases drop 10% – the first week-over-week decline since the New Year.”

The article is jam-packed with good news. It’s a Covid miracle! The Mail says that reported deaths are “only up 7% this week, down from the 20% increase recorded last Monday.” Under Narrative 1.0, this would have been reported as “deaths continue to rise.” Thanks Narrative 2.0!

The Mail notes that “state-by-state data shows that cases have generally begun to plateau or even level-off in states that were hit hardest early on by the Omicron variant.” Great news. Remember all the reports of plateaus as previous waves leveled off? Me neither.

Curiously, Tiny Tim, I mean Fauci, doesn’t seem to have gotten the memo. According to the Mail, at a recent Davos conference (of course) the rambling old puppy-torturer encouraged people to stay worried: “The worrisome scenario is that you get something that’s divergent evolution like Omicron did. Something that’s dramatically different than the variants that are circulating right now.” He warned that there is a “potential” for a new strain of Covid that can evade natural immunity, putting the world even FARTHER away from the endemic stage. Scary.

But Gottlieb disagrees. “We’ve never seen a coronavirus undergo shift, where you’ve seen a dramatic change in the virus itself and the strain of the virus. What you’ve seen is these viruses undergo drift,” he said. And the Mail says — as straight news — that Omicron is burning through people so fast that it could soon run out of people to infect. It’s almost over!

    **********************

Even Great Britain seems to be getting on board for the new Narrative. The Guardian UK reported yesterday that “All Covid restrictions in England could end in March under No 10 plans.” In March! Just in time for the State of the Union here in the U.S. It explains that Boris Johnson said he is now “prepared to let the UK live with the virus.”

    How times change. Rapidly.

A senior source in the British government confirmed that it is looking at ending mandatory self-isolation for positive Covid cases, saying it would be “perverse” to keep the measure in the long term. Perverse! One step away from perverted. The British government also said that work from home and injection passports will soon be wrapped up and shelved, maybe as soon as January 26.

The UK’s health secretary Savid Javid said he is “cautiously optimistic” that remaining Covid regulations in England can be “substantially reduced” starting NEXT WEEK.

Honestly, people, I am having trouble keeping up with all the Narrative 2.0 news.

    *************************

Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced yesterday that all the new Covid restrictions imposed for the Omicron wave will be lifted starting NEXT MONDAY. You didn’t think these Covid restrictions could possibly be lifted that fast, did you? It’s simply amazing what a new Narrative can do, isn’t it?

    All the news is good!
According to MSN News, the First Minister said she was “confident we have turned a corner on the Omicron wave” in Scotland. Confident! Not worried, not anymore. “We are now on the downward slope of cases,” she happily informed the Scottish parliament.

And … we have the government to thank for this delightful turn of events: “A combination of booster vaccinations, the willingness of the public to adapt their behaviour to help stem transmission, and the temporary protective measures introduced in December, have helped blunt the impact of the Omicron wave,” Sturgeon explained cheerfully.

Thank goodness for all those mandates. Florida had no comment.

    ************************

‍⚕️ I’ve been waiting, but I have not yet seen any widespread re-activation of the CMS mandates in hospitals. Anecdotal reports suggest that religious exemptions are now being approved at an accelerated pace, and that the Biden-controlled EEOC is actually being responsive and starting to pursue cases of exemption denials. Nor has CMS itself said anything about the mandates since before Christmas. It would sure be inconvenient timing to start l saying off docs and nurses, what with the rollout of Narrative 2.0 and all the Omicron hospitalizations. I remain cautiously optimistic.

    ****************************

Just in time for Spring, the Federal Government has released the previously-confiscated supplies of monoclonal antibody treatments, and yesterday the State of Florida announced opening a bunch of new treatment sites that had been shut down due to lack of supply. So monoclonal treatments for Covid infection are now available once again to Floridians with a positive Covid test.

I was already searching obituary sites in Texas and Florida when GJT asked the question.  Mark had already been MIA for 9 days at that point and unresponsive.  He always answered my emails so I was seriously worried. I didn’t want to alarm people without knowing positively what was going on.  The two sites with Mark’s obituary did not surface until yesterday once the memorial service was scheduled.  I suspect the family had already arranged a private burial in Florida given the 11 day lag time.

I saw the first obit appear yesterday and immediately emailed Wagonburner, Tedtam and Shannon.  I knew it was our Mark when his colleagues left tributes and mentioned his employer’s name.  I then called Tedtam who unfortunately happened to be in a Hobby Lobby at the time.  She had to, understandably, leave the store.

I’ll put this out there as I think you guys will find it of interest and I’ll drop it.

Yesterday morning we were headed to the funeral home to make arrangements with all the family when one of the Harris County Sheriffs Detectives called my wife wanting to meet with the family, so perfect timing they met us at the funeral home. There were five of them, three Sheriffs Investigators and two Harris County Constables. A couple of them had been at the hospital Saturday where they had looked us in the eyes saying they would find him.

They wanted to relay that the guy they got was the shooter and it was him without a doubt. The driver of the car was a seventeen year old and he had turned himself in Saturday and identified the shooter to them. Claimed he barely knew the guy and was coerced into driving the vehicle. They were going to follow through to verify if this was true. They had tracked the shooter all day Monday. Shooters family cooperated with them, gave them permission to search his apartment where they found the gun, said they haven’t tested it yet but it was the weapon without a doubt. They told us one detective, who was not there yesterday, knew of the perp from his long rap sheet and worked all night Saturday on the case.

The family is beyond grateful for these individuals. I am so impressed with the work they put in it and the media coverage, they said they received tremendous amounts of calls on the case due to the coverage. I can’t believe it is still being covered, it was still on every newscast yesterday, it is odd to walk by the television and seeing your wife on there and just keep walking by.

    One amusement from last night:

Bonecrusher sat to my right, Texmo to my left, during the mass. Knowing they’re not Catholic, I was impressed that they at least did the stand-up and sit-down aerobics. I kept watching Texmo cross himself during the service, and thought it was cute that he was trying so hard, but in the Catholic church the sign of the cross is (1) forehead, (2) heart, (3) left shoulder, and (4) right shoulder.

Texmo kept getting 3 and 4 backwards. The whole time. I thought I’d help him out so he wouldn’t be embarrassed should he find himself in a Catholic mass situation again, and pointed out his error after the service was over.

He reminded me that in the Orthodox church, they go right-> left. He wasn’t just trying hard, he was doing it “right”.

    /slapping forehead

    Of course. I forgot.

Yeah, the twattervers would be totally inappropriate, as would FB. We’d all end up in jail together.

I touted Spreely some time ago, but it’s turned into a kinda wild west environment. Gab is dependent upon donations. GETTR I’m not too familiar with, but it may end up more stable. And we can talk freely there. Then there’s Mike Lindell’s FrankSpeech platform.

I’m not sure if twatter changed the rules or if it is my new phone but I have not been able to read tweets that people made as I had always been able to without an account. I can’t say I was part of the twatter boycott as I was never on it to begin with but I regretfully signed up this morning as people still link to tweets. You will never see a tweet from me though.

Hubby and I had completed a very nice lunch at Longhorn Steak House, since Hubby had been recently gifted a gift card from my cousin. I went to Hobby Lobby after, since it was next door and I’d been given a gift card for that store, also.

We had a delightful lunch. The food was delicious, and Hubby and I had a very nice conversation.

I am going to contact Bluehost directly although I expect them to tell me they cannot deal with me on the website.  I’m also going to reach out to Mark’s sister, find out who is the executor and work from there.

I don’t believe, after looking at Bluehost’s pricing schedule, the annual cost will be that much, especially if we make it a group effort.  My weakness is in the tech area since I’ve never run a website myself.  It would be great if Dooood could help us out on that end.

  46. Tedtam Avatar

Did Hammy recently get a jab? Someone mentioned that, but it didn’t ring a bell with me.

Yes, he did. His sister said last night he was very pro-vaxx. I went on a bit of a rampage last night over that. His sudden heart failure just screams “JAB!” in my head. It fits the pattern of delayed, sudden heart failure deaths from folks who’ve been vaxxed.

I linked to a story some weeks ago from a Navy doctor who’d grounded a bunch of her pilots, for that very reason. Get the jab, and weeks-months-years later, sudden death occurs from heart failure. There’s evidence that the spike proteins build up in the heart’s blood vessels and pulmonary system blood vessels as well, causing tiny clots. The Navy doc didn’t want her pilots up in the air and suddenly unable to fly their planes. I can only imagine if one of ’em died in formation. How many planes would that one dead pilot take out on its way to crashing a million dollar plane? I didn’t see any follow-up stories to her grounding the pilots, but if I had to guess, she was forced to backtrack her decision.

And then there’s that never-ending video montage of exceedingly healthy athletes just toppling over in mid-effort. Nothing like watching soccer player after soccer playing running the ball and then suddenly just collapsing on the ground….

The reason I questioned Mark’s colleagues not checking on him was his position as Safety, Health & Environmental manager for North America.  He said he often spent 8-10 hours a day in Zoom meetings with safety teams at different locations across the US and Canada.  Even though he only went into the Houston office a couple of times a month, I’m sure phone, text and email contact was pretty constant.  It’s not like he was squirrelled away working on some project design alone.  His whole job was being available and in constant contact with people who worked under him in locations all over the place.  Somebody had to miss him when he didn’t respond.

Domains cannot be transferred without the subscribers okie dokie or the domain is abandoned from lack of funding.  However I think it is possible for fees to to be paid in lieu of.  Bluehost does not care where the money comes from.

I found this poem, finally. I’d put the author’s name, but I’ve seen it claimed by several authors, including “anonymous”.

    “The Weaver Poem”

My life is but a weaving, between my God and me,

I do not choose the colors, He worketh steadily,

Oftimes He weaveth sorrow, and I in foolish pride,

Forget He sees the upper, and I the underside.

Not till the loom is silent, and shuttles cease to fly,

Will God unroll the canvas and explain the reason why.

The dark threads are as needful in the skillful Weaver’s hand,

As the threads of gold and silver in the pattern He has planned.

I also found a link to this blog posting. It has a beautiful visual of the above poem.

BTW, if you haven’t read Corrie Ten Boom’s story, you should.

I’ve only been in a shower at Chez Harp twice since 1995. Both times were early morning prep for my two knee surgeries. I had been given bottles of some antibiotic skin treatment, which I had to rub in all over myself and then take a long shower to rinse it off. I really just viewed that as part of my hospitalization. For ordinary daily cleansing, I love my bathtub. I put in a pair of handhold ladders clamped to the side, years ago, which I use to get in and out. (My replacement knees are great for walking, but anything involving a lot of knee-bending is impossible for me now.) Those medical showers I mentioned were taken in David’s bathroom upstairs, where he had all sorts of rubber safety mats in place. I doubt if he ever even once used that tub.

Tedtam, here is a short description of the difference between Catholics and Orthodox and how they sign the cross. Don’t be offended by the persnickity tone towards Catholics.

I didn’t mind the stand/sit/stand nature of the mass last night. It reminded me of my Lutheran days of church attendance. We Orthodox keep it simple by standing for the entire 1.5 hour Liturgy. Technically you do not have to stand the entire time, but there are times it is required. Things like Gospel readings, Nicene Creed, Lord’s Prayer, and of course the consecration of the bread and wine.

I’m certain it will get here soon enough, but I’m not detecting any precip with our part of it, and we desperately need some precip, even if it’s in the form of ice.

None of my business, but as to the future, why re-invent the wheel. Surely there is some way to deal with the current provider, get the payments made, and not have to transfer everything to a new and unknown platform – unless someone is willing to host on their own personal platform.

In other news, I think it’s about time for my nap. More later in a little bit.

  121. Tedtam Avatar

So, let me recap our options to date, and someone correct me if I’m wrong or have left something out:

Option A: Keep the current blog
If Texpat can work with executor to get possession of this blog, it’ll stay open and Dooood will run it for us.
    Pros:
    1. We keep our archive
    2. No transfer changes for folks
    3. Articles and posts by current “moderators”.
    4. We can add new members, but how/who does that?
    Cons:
    1. Will we have all the background stuff to keep it viable?
    2. Although Doood says money is good, we may want/need to find a way to help fund it. Hammy was paying all the bills before.
    3. Morbid thought: When Doood dies (as we all will at some point) what then?

Option B: We live in Squawk’s house
Squawkbox allows us to move our stuff into his blog space. He’ll design it for us, as long as we give him what we want.
    Pros:
    1. We keep our archives – if they can be moved over.
    2. We keep the blog format.
    3. Articles and posts by current “moderators”.
    4. We can add new members, but how/who does that?
    Cons:
    1. Although Squawk says money is good, we may want/need to find a way to help fund it. Hammy was paying all the bills before.
    3. Morbid thought, again.

Option C: Use a social media platform
    Pros:
    1. No need to fund a blog site
    2. Anyone can post, even pictures
    3. We can create a closed group, and move the couch furniture in there and lock the door. New members can be added at request and page admin(s) can allow or block.
    4. Morbid thought – no need to move/transfer
    5. Certain sites are friendlier to free speech than others: Gab, MeWe, GETTR, Telegram, etc.
    6. We can continue to post long, erudite postings – just not on its own thread.
    Cons:
    1. We lose our archives.
    2. We lose the blog format. It turns into a long, continuous conversation.
    3. All Couch Critters will have to get an account on those sites.
    4. Are there limitations on posting sizes? Example, Twitter has a character limit, etc.

Y’all will never owe me anything nor would you need to help me fund anything.  All I ask is

DO NOT INSIST I BECOME MODERATOR.

I will let You and Texpat have admin privs on the server side and access to the account.  If God takes me home you two will be able to continue the blog and then you can pay for it.  I require nothing.

I got to thinking.  Someone could contact Bluehost and find out about funding this blog.  Maintenance of the WordPress installation is taken care of in the admin part of the blog.  Dude or even I could handle that task on an as needed basis.

I do not want to see the couch go away.

  126. Tedtam Avatar

I believe Texpat said he was going to try that.

I also don’t want the Couch to disappear. I’ve gotten my cushion well worn in.

Yeah, that’s really what I had in mind by just transferring the domain registration.  I did it a few years ago for a PTO site I created back then.  I had created the site and was funding it, then just transferred to a dad with younger kids in the school than mine once mine moved on.  I coached him on how to update it based on modifying the html code once he took over.  As you say, the admin here would be much easier as it would just be the maintenance of what’s already here since the WP admin is the portal for that.  Like you, the money isn’t the issue for me.  I’d just like to see this site continue.

I’m happy to host the domain and website on my dedicated server where I have all my domains/websites if it can be transferred over, that way it doesn’t cost anything.

Yeah, for sure.  To be clear here though, just like Squawk I have no intention of being a moderator or even a front page poster here.  I’d just be the back end when necessary.  Plus, if I go to the great rhythm section in the sky y’all could keep on charging my cc until Mrs. Dooood got wise to what was happening.

    1. We lose our archives.
    2. We lose the blog format. It turns into a long, continuous conversation

As far as MeWe is concerned, I don’t know about the archives, but if its set up as Group or “Page” it works just as the blog does: a daily post with comments. Ivhave one set up that I don’t use and that’s how it works. Not talking about using it, just establishing bona fides. One if the MeWe pages I enjoyed when I was looking at it daily was one about old western movies.

Anyone who watched Brandon drone on for however long is tougher than I am. If we are voting, I’m perfectly happy with the blog in its current format even though over the past umpteen years I still have to figure out how to do much other than shoot my mouth off through my keyboard.

In other news, the local temp has gone from about 78 degrees to about 65 degrees here in the past hour or so, and the winds are picking up as they move toward the north. So the invisible front is obviously moving through without any visible moisture so far. Caused me to make a cup of hot coffee when I got up from my nap.

That is all for now. If I can help with the transition, let me know, but given my thought habits and work processes it would probably take six months to reach a decision and another year to get it in place. But if you need some serious thinking and planning, let me know and I’ll get right on it. Here comes the big freeze of January 2022, so get your pets wrapped and your pipes inside.

Seeing the news all over that our puppet of a president is announcing that 400million N95 masks will be doled out for free to combat the horrible moronic variant.

A month after it became apparent it was here.

They will “hopefully” be available by early February.

When it will have significantly declined on its own already.

    LGB!

Oh, its much, much later than just a month.

A year ago, Biden unveiled a 200-page plan to defeat covid. He has struggled to deliver on some key promises.

Page 59 promised “predictable and robust” federal purchasing of coronavirus tests – a pledge that industry leaders say fell far short, as Americans continue to line up to get tested while complaining they can’t find home test kits.

Page 81 pledged to “support schools in implementing COVID-19 screening testing,” but many parents, teachers and staff say that schools have largely been left to fend for themselves.

I think that after I finish this payroll check, I’m moving the office downstairs for the next few days. It’ll mean dragging a bunch of paperwork downstairs, along with my work computer, but I’m thinking a change of scenery will be nice. And I won’t be working in a cold office. The downstairs should stay pretty toasty once we turn the floor on.

Now that we’re not doing the plumbing business, I don’t have to generate a lot of payments/checks where I need the printer. When I need the printer, I’ll run upstairs to the office, do what I need, and get back downstairs.

Speaking of cancer… my dang platelet count just doesn’t want to go up on its own accord. My treatment is delayed yet another week. I sent a note to my doc to see what can we do differently. I did find a drug that can help the bone marrow increase platelet production so I inquired about that. The only downside is that it is a daily injection with an old fashioned needle. Not one of those new fangled fancy auto injectors.

I have been very diligent about juicing and limiting alcohol intake to next to nothing. I think I am going to have to start living like my great-uncle Curt. He passed away about 20 years ago. For the last 10 – 15 years of his life, he had all sorts of health issues. The docs told him time and time again that he should stop smoking 2 – 3 packs a day and stop drinking 4 – 6 beers a day. He always told them to kiss off on those two suggestions. He said life is not worth living if you can’t enjoy it.

I have two great-aunts that are still alive. Uncle Curt’s wife is one of them. She’ll turn 99 this year.

Peggy is delightful and has saved his life a couple of times when she was here to give him his medications. I’m not sure why, since he gets medications, why oh why can he not have a live-in nurse?  The 3 of us being sort of all the same advanced age (me coming up on 78), we had all gotten the 2 Jabs a year ago, when the elderly were being encouraged to come in for them.
