We have Hamous’ repurposed Thursday thread, very good.
I love the old map of the Dixie Highway, I’ve seen that before have you posted it in the past? BTW; The Map you posted the other day was real neat also. In 1985 there were a whole set of maps, (every state showing only the RR’s) I’ve downloaded a few of them, I’ll have to see if I can find a link if I have the time.

    I didn’t see any of Trump Biteme but Tedtam mention “Savannah” last night and I kew she was talking about Savannah Guthrie, a viciously, vile and evil shrew. She starts out nice before the fangs come out she is for sure another Katie Couric wanna’ be. I did find a piece written by a Guthrie sycophant;

Savannah Guthrie Knocks a Perspiring Trump Back on His Heels

Dealt dreadfully lousy cards—that is, widespread and justified criticism of NBCUniversal and its traumatized news division for hastily gifting Donald Trump an hour of free airtime at the same moment that Joe Biden was doing his previously scheduled town hall over on ABC—Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie did not fold.

Quite the contrary, she managed to burnish her journalistic reputation, if not that of her employer, by repeatedly forcing the president to answer the sort of inconvenient questions he has easily evaded during countless press gaggles, phoned-in interviews, and his first and possibly final official debate against the frontrunning Democratic nominee.

The 48-year-old Guthrie, a lawyer before becoming an NBC White House correspondent and network anchor, took command of the situation from the outset of the hour-long campaign event, something the nominally more seasoned Chris Wallace was unable to accomplish during an embarrassing Sept. 29 shout-fest staged by the Commission on Presidential Debates as if produced by Jerry Springer.

It seemed like the volume on Guthrie’s microphone was turned up a notch or two higher than Trump’s (if so, a good thing) as she sat a safe distance away on a waterfront stage in Miami and pressed him, and even fact-checked him, relentlessly.

I have not doubt that the snarky little Biotch was very nasty but I’m betting Trump held his own. I’m not going to have time to watch this but I’ll check Fox and the Two Sad Blisters and see what their take is, that should give a good contrast.

Morning GJT, Very Good, going someplace?

  5. El Gordo Avatar

Morning gang. A comfortable 58 degrees this morning. I’ll briefly comment again on the Trump v NBC debate from last evening – the moderator performed exactly as one would expect, showing herself to be just another harpie waiting to get old enough to move over to the View. Trump obviously expected this and held up well, never giving in, and getting his message out over the top of the screeching moderator. Everyone in journalism still thinks that they can be the one to emulate Woodward and Bernstein and bring down a sitting President, but once again, she fell well short. Under normal circumstances, anyone who performed like that, as well as just demonstrating the contempt and disdain for the President of the United States, would be embarrassed, but it’s impossible to embarrass people like that.

I’ll spend some time today getting outside for a bit and getting some exercise, probably take out my frustrations on some prickly pear cactus. But first, since it’s Flarada Man Friday, high school football Friday, Ammo Grrrll Friday, and so forth, it’s also official low carb diet weigh in Friday. So that’s a lot of information to digest all at once, so lets get started.

  8. El Gordo Avatar

Ammo Grrrll is apparently not up yet, nor is anything else, but the official weigh in was a sight to behold this morning. Two sets of scales placed side by side, both calibrated according to manufacturer instructions. Please note that the “old” less reliable scales remain the source of official numbers for this weigh-in as the “new” somewhat more reliable scales have not been in service long enough to establish a pattern. So the results from the new scales is informational only and are not included in today’s official calculations.

The procedure followed was pretty typical of my daily routine and is highlighted herein. Entered the weigh station, turned on the radio, turned on the coffee pot, went back and peed into a cup to measure keto performance with one of those pee sticks (all indications are that ketosis is still in active fat burning mode), and ceremoniously stepped on to the new scales for a reading, which was duly recorded on my chart. Then, for the main event, the official scales were mounted. Every effort was made to not go wobbly on the official scales, but I got an error message anyway, so I stepped off, regrouped, grabbed the cabinet to steady myself, took a deep relaxing greath, and stepped back up again, being much more still this time. And I got an official reading. So, what did it say you ask, as you all are looking anxiously at your over/under 6 pound betting ticket? Well, here you go.

Last week, somewhere a little over 5 pounds lost. This week, a little under 3 pounds lost. So that’s a total of about 8 pounds for the 2 week period. Doesn’t sound like much you say. Well again, according to the pros, rapid weight loss is considered in the range of 10 pounds per month, or just over 2 pounds per week. It’s important to stay healthy, eat, drink, etc. and not just starve to death because that’s not sustainable. So I’ll declare the method I’m using to be a success and a reasonably healthy weight loss program. And I’m entirely happy with the results now that I’m just 2 weeks in. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. I’m still not feeling up to par and need to get my endurance levels up by getting more exercise, but I’m working on that too.

So, those of you who took the “over” on the betting slip are winners. According to the Texas Lottery, others are identified as “try again” rather than their true identity of “loser,” I wonder if they focus grouped that wording? OK, you all have a great day, and I’m headed out to see if I can locate Ammo Grrrll. More later.

There is a lady here at the office who advised me that when she was younger she referred to herself as “fluffy.” I’ll be nice and say that she was likely overweight, corpulent, fat, etc. About 2 years ago she got married and promptly had twins, after about 10 months or so, which caused her to gain quite a bit of weight. She has been dieting but wound up with a lot of extra skin around her belly area. There was so much extra skin there that she named it “Bertha.” A month ago or so she had it all removed, 22lbs worth. She still has a drain in and her doctor told her she still had at least 10 lbs of fluid to drain off. She can’t quite stand up straight yet as her belly skin is still pretty tight, not to mention a plethora of scar tissue, neurological and vascular re-routing, etc, but she is looking pretty good and she is really happy to not having to carry Bertha around anymore.

It was 61 degrees in my driveway in Glorious Copperfield at 0604 this morning and 57 when I got to the office at Buffalo Speedway and Westheimer.

  12. Tedtam Avatar

I met a lady at the gym who had her “Bertha”. It was so much extra skin that she kept getting staph infections in the folds. Since it was now a health issue, her insurance company paid for the skin removal, but she had to drop a certain amount of weight further before she could get the operation approved. That woman was in the gym every day. I could tell when she had the surgery – first, she disappeared for a bit, and then reappeared with a slimmer figure. I congratulated her, and she told me that next up was the skin on her thighs and hips – but she had to lose some more weight before that happened.

The removed skin was donated to a burn hospital, I believe.

  13. Tedtam Avatar

Oh, El Gordo – the first month or two are impressive weight loss periods. It’s the long haul….

I mentioned in a previous post about the rosary being a spiritual weapon. I’m reading a series on the wonders of the rosary (not too many secrets, really, just some facts that folks may not know). I mentioned that mendicant orders who wear their rosary as part of their habit wear it on the left, as if it was a sword. Multiple saints and holy folks refer to the rosary as their spiritual weapon. Then I read this:

St. Teresa of Calcutta almost always held a rosary in her hand. When she was at a security checkpoint at an airport, the airport guards asked if anyone was bringing any weapons through checkpoint and in response, St. Teresa raised her hand and said she had a weapon and revealed her Rosary

I can just see St. Teresa doing that. The image cracks me up.

#16, 17: DANG IT!! That will teach me to refresh before I post!

    /Prolly not

    Great minds.

One of the most important things that Trump needs to get passed and set in stone, in 2021, it the elimination of mail in ballots. Absentee ballots where a single ballot is requested by a single person who is not physically able to vote in person due to health reasons, or will be out of state during the entire early voting period should be the only exceptions. These ballot applications but be scrutinized carefully to ensure that 300 are not going to the same address, unless that address is a large nursing home. Even in this case, the applicant(s) need to be of sound enough mind to be able to request the ballot on their own – someone can’t do it for them.
Valid, state-issued, citizenship verified, photo ID must be presented to vote. PERIOD. NO EXCEPTIONS. If your state issues driver’s licenses to non citizens and does not specify citizenship status on the document, then no electors from that state shall be counted.
Voter fraud has been a big problem for a long time and the Ds have fought valiantly against any reform; I wonder why that is? Securing the integrity of our elections should be the single most important issue tackled in 2021.
    Serialized paper ballots.
All ballots must be accounted for.
Place several ballots on the table for the voter to select at random, protecting the secrecy of the vote.
All ballots must be taken from the precincts to the central counting area within 2 hours of the close of polls.
Any precinct that has more than 100% participation gets tossed. I think there were a few precincts in Philly that had over 100% participation – all in favor of Felonia von Pantsuit – and no one raised an eyebrow about it on the left; any questions as to why?
Anyone caught committing voter fraud get 10 years minimum, no parole, in federal prison.

If we want any chance to drain the swamp, having honest elections is a crucial first step. Anyone opposed is simply in favor of cheating – there is no middle ground here.

I mentioned the 1895 RR Maps and I have several on my computer, I looked online and found one for Texas but it was tiny so I uploaded mine. Texas RR Map 1895.
FWIW; You can click on it to enlarge it. My daddy had told me that sometime before he was born his daddy went to east Texas to see his older brother that lived there. Brother lived in Jericho Texas, not far from Center, the county seat of Shelby County. I knew that grandpa went by train and through New Orleans so I used the old maps to figure out his route. He left Podunk Alabama and headed up to Montgomery, then back down to Mobile, across Mississippi to New Orleans, then up to Alexandra and over to Shreveport, crossed into Texas at Logansport and most likely got off at Timpson since Center didn’t have a railhead then.

Speaking of the rosary, when I’m visiting my daughter & fam, I usually try to get my rosary done before going downstairs in the morning, just so I’m not trying to pray it while family business is going on. Since LD2 and sometimes Sunshine come to wake me up, they often catch me in the process of my prayers. I’ve made them rosaries, so the last few visits mean they bring their rosaries into my bedroom. We cuddle up in bed together and pray one decade together. That’s about all they are willing to handle before running off to play.

I’ve found that one of the side effects of so much verbal prayer is yawning. I’m sure it has to do with the body needing oxygen due to so many relatively longer periods of exhalation during speech. So, the last time I was doing this, I had LD2 on my right and Sunshine on my left. Soon, LD2 started yawning. I told her to stop, because she was going to make me yawn. Yep, they are contagious, and I started yawning as I prayed. I nudged LD2 and she started giggling. Then Sunshine started yawning and giggling. That started me giggling. LD2 yawned and giggled. This went on until the last Hail Mary. That was probably the most joyful prayer I’ve ever prayed.

Based on the performance of the FBI in the last couple of decades or so, and the lack thereof, I have come to the conclusion that the FBI should be abolished. They have demonstrated that they are not neutral, they are not for We The People, they are advocates for the totalitarian state. They are not to be trusted under any circumstances. While there may be quite a few honest agents, the organization is too corrupt to fix and this corruption places all of our liberties, including our lives at risk.

HEADLINE: Federal Court Rebukes D.C. Mayor’s Double Standard on Church Services and BLM Protests
Last week, the District Court for the District of Columbia ruled that Capitol Hill Baptist Church (CHBC) can resume outdoor services despite Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser’s coronavirus restrictions. In his ruling, Judge Trevor McFadden implicitly rebuked Bowser for encouraging one type of gathering — Black Lives Matter protests — while cracking down on religious gatherings.
    /snip
“The Mayor’s apparent encouragement of these protests also implies that the District favors some gatherings (protests) over others (religious services),” McFadden argued. “When faced with similar facts in a First Amendment challenge, another court explained that high-profile government officials encouraging and participating in protests ‘sent a clear message that mass protests are deserving of preferential treatment,’” the judge added, citing Soos v. Cuomo (2020).

Recently the New York Post has published articles exposing the corruption of the Biden family’s crime syndicate. But efforts of several conservatives, and even the White House, to spread this story via Twitter and Fakebook has caused those social media carriers to shut down the accounts of the people wishing to share the Post’s stories. For that suppression, they are catching a great deal of heat from the public, in some cases to the point that the outrage has been more directed at the media than the actual Biden stories themselves.

So, does this mean that Twitter and Fakebook are in so deep that they are willing to take one for the team and deflect the criticism from the Biden Crime Syndicate to themselves. At this point, they have to figure that any hits they take will be temporary, especially if Biden wins, while and hits Biden takes could prove fatal to this campaign and assure a Trump victory. Another case of “keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.” I’m surprised no one is picking up on this yet.

Monthly Rumble Refresh – Oct 2020

Welcome to the Rumble Monthly Refresh. To kick things off, we are extremely excited to announce that Dan Bongino has joined Rumble in our battle against YouTube.

On the heels of Devin Nunes joining Rumble, one of the world’s largest Podcasts has exclusively followed, The Dan Bongino Show. This is a momumental achievement for Rumble, on similar scale to Joe Rogan joining Spotify. Rumble has seen registered users skyrocket over 100% in less than 2 weeks, with major influencers following Dan’s move. Regardless of your political affiliation, this is and will continue to have an incredibly positive impact on the growth of all channels on Rumble. If you haven’t already, you can subscribe to his podcast channel here.

Have you been having Buffering/Streaming Issues? We fixed a few days ago, yay! For the past 3 weeks we have been working on an issue where our videos randomly buffer within iPhone’s, Android’s, and our website. We isolated the issue directly with our streaming provider. Unfortunately our current streaming provider wasn’t able to resolve the issue quickly, so we took drastic measures and moved a portion of our business to a provider that doesn’t have these issues. We thank you for your patience on this.

Our team has been working hard with our iPhone & Android Apps. You can download the iPhone App here and the Android App here. On the front of our apps, we are super happy to announce a long list of new features.

      15 second forward/rewind
Allow the video’s audio to be played while the phone is off (click on the “car” icon)
Allow you to seek to specific points in a video
Quality selector control for HD formats
      Full screen on screen rotation
Allow you to swipe videos before the timer expires in the “Rumble” battle
      Video playback speed options

We are also pursuing TV Apps for Roku, Amazon and Anroid TV. Currently the only stable version available is for Amazon Fire TV here. We anticipate that we will have a stable version of Roku and Android within 2 weeks time. Please note that the current App on the Roku store does not work and we working directly with Roku to figure out why. Thanks again for your patience while we develop apps for all platforms.

Todays Interesting Fact. 95% of people text things they could never say in person.

I go over these tracks all the time, and occasionally, I hear a train moving through. Most agricultural products are moved by truck today rather than train, but the train was still hauling gravel (rocks are one of our main natural resources) and fracking sand from the sand mines near Brady. You must vote in your county of residence, while on election day, you will have to try to find your precinct number, locate the address where the poll will be located, try to get the map thingy to tell you how to get there, find a parking place, get harassed by local thugs offering to watch you car for a small fee, probably deface your car while watching it if they don’t just get in and drive it away, and so on. So just go vote and get that marked off you todo list. It’s not really a religious experience, it’s just another chore on your civic duty list to take care of, and move on.

They play an away game, but again I think I’ll be able to watch it on TV at San Saba Radio.com via my Amazon Fire Stick. There’s a Trump rally getting underway in Flarada right now, and he’s talking about how much fun he had at Savannah’s expense. She has apparently gone into hiding today.

I chopped a little cactus and beebrush today, and it looks to me like there’s an endless supply for me to work on to my heart’s content just in my little place down here.

#15 – Yes, I know that the thinner you get, the slower the weight loss occurs. That’s why I set phase 1 at only 50 pounds – that should be the easy part. But again, thinking longer term, this low carb thing is not to get you to a desired weight, it’s designed to get you to the weight you are supposed to be, whether you like it or not. So having said that, I don’t think I’m at any risk of running into any conflict with the diet plan in losing 50 pounds – I think both me and the diet can agree that there is no problem with that. Then we can get together and see where to go from there. If I can get that done by about February, the I might hopefully be able to get back in shape to start working on my spring outdoor projects. But we’ll see how it goes.

#84 – I’m sorry for the loss of your friend.

I heard about this story as I was headed out on errands:

Biden’s Buddy now in prison, flips on Biden and authorizes Schweizer to access and release his incriminating emails on Biden – Hunter and Joe

The emails, given to investigative journalist Peter Schweizer by former Biden associate Bevan Cooney and published by Breitbart also reveal that in 2011, the younger Biden and his business associates discussed strengthening relations with “China Inc.” as part of a “new push on soft diplomacy for the Chinese.”

As Breitbart notes, these emails are completely unconnected to the Hunter Biden emails released by the New York Post.

Cooney believes he was the “fall guy” for an investment scheme in which Hunter and business associate Devon Archer avoided responsibility. He reached out to Schweizer after the journalist published Secret Empires in 2018. Archer was initially spared jail and handed a second trial, however a federal appeals court reinstated Archer’s fraud conviction in the case last week.

Cooney provided Schweizer with written authorization, his email account name, and password to his Gmail account to retrieve these emails. He authorized, in writing, the publication of these emails— notable because it is the first time a close associate has publicly confirmed Hunter’s trading on his father’s influence. -Breitbart

And on the day of the meeting, November 14, 2011, Cooney emailed Fears to confirm that Archer “got the Chinese guys all taken care of in DC.”

Meanwhile, White House visitor logs reveal that the Chinese delegation of around 30 members did visit the White House on November 14, 2011. The logs, however, conceal that the delegation met with former VP Joe Biden himself.

And that fan that has stuff hitting it just keeps spinning, flinging poo everywhere.

And the media says “What poo?” as they wipe poo from their faces.

“This is China Inc,” wrote Khashoggi – referring to Chinese billionaires. “Biggest priority for the CEC group is to see the White House, and have a senior US politician, or senior member of Obama’s administration, give them a tour… If your friend in DC can help, we would be extremely grateful.”

I happened to glance out the patio windows late this morning, and saw there were still a few doves pecking up seeds, with a mismatched bird amongst them. Took me a while to realize its red head meant it was a male woodpecker. Only time I have ever observed any woodpecker on the ground, in a flock like that. As far as I could tell, it was taking something into its mouth, so I guess it was possible there could have been some small insects on the wet patio among the Wild Mix components. I didn’t dare go for the camera, and risk scaring it away. It soon flew away anyway.

The guys showed up early this morning and pretty much finished up the deck with the exception of of the gutter/downspout that I added after the fact. They had to order the materials and say that they could be back next Wednesday to finish it up. I/we are very pleased with the outcome, Big Mike is very meticulous and probably used up an extra couple of days installing the siding/soffit/fascia, most of which we added at the last minute. So the total cost was about $1300 bucks more than the estimate but that was without the end closeout and the gutter and the work was exemplary so we are very pleased.
