70 years ago: Henry O. Partin admitted he was “headed to the poorhouse” in 1929 but after watching breeding experiments by Texas ranchers, he took a chance by importing a small herd of Brahmans. By 1935, he knew he was headed in the right direction and imported 100 more registered Brahman cows. By 1949 his 75,000-acre Heart Bar Ranch in Kissimmee was the leading breeder of “Bray’muhs,” as he called them.

Born on April 9, 1940 on the Heart- Bar Ranch, Emperor was “the man that put me in the Brahman business” Henry O. Partin always said, as he pointed with pride to the champion bull. Twice Grand Champion Brahman Bull of Florida, Emperor weighed 1800 pounds as a 4-year old. Emperor died on the Heart-Bar Ranch in 1956, but left an impressive bloodline with his many offspring also winning awards. Grandchildren of Mr. Partin recall Emperor as a “gentle giant”.

11:11 can longer shoot safely over 30 yards.
Neighbors hate it when I do that.

Ain’t got to worry

Sun is up by 4:30 it is now 10, just setting.
Welcome to hard times

92 Shannon Look at all three of the major sports commissioners. All three are just dumber than a box of rocks and that doesn’t happen by accident or coincidence. Each was specifically chosen for slightly above average IQ, a lack of creativity, a blank stare while reading the script precisely off the teleprompter and a total commitment to obedience. Once… Read more »
Goodell is so dependably stupid.
Heh.
I, too, thought Lawson was recently deceased.
I say give him a job and a big fat multi-year contract. Then sit back and watch the revenue stream dry up.
86 Hamous
The Rev. William Lawson is apparently still alive at 92 this year.
76 phil Was it a funeral or just another totalitariancrat voter drive rally like the Wellstone memorial? Neither. It was worse. If NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is truly sorry for failing to listen to NFL players protesting racism, he can prove it by opening the door for ostracized free agent Colin Kaepernick to return to the league, the Reverend Al… Read more »
You call E.E. Lawson at the General Store
83. I thought he died a while ago.
80 Hamous Nice story. I had a friend like that I helped keep her old house from falling apart. She was 94 when I met her and her daughter finally came from Israel and moved her back there at 101. She made it to 105 before she checked out. Judith had these amazing, incredible stories to tell. She witnessed almost… Read more »
So today I say farewell to an elegant lady who I’m proud to call my friend. Goodbye Mrs. Betty and Godspeed. I had someone similar in my life, an older woman named Dora. She was a special old lady at our parish with whom I became friends. I was the only one allowed to call her “an old bat” and… Read more »
Although the Grande Houston Black Pastor Emeritus Lawson did make reference to cleaning out the White House.
Until Sharpton showed up as the distinguished guest eulogizer, it was mostly funeralizing.
I was working on a project last night and caught Stargate: SG1 on tv. When I saw that the episodes were “Lifeboat” and “Enemy Mine,” I stayed up to watch them both. Possibly some of the best acting that Michael Shanks ever did. Just finished dinner and flipping through Roku channel, and saw “Dust” was on the live channels. Turns… Read more »
There was another funeral today but you won’t see it on the news. There won’t be any streets named after her. No famous people will speak of her life. I met Mrs. Buck about ten years ago at her daughter’s, who’s a good friend of mine. About three years ago she had to move in with her daughter. She was… Read more »
When everything is being paid for by the richest boxer in history, you go all out.
55 Shannon I remember old Psycho. She was mean as a snake. The problem with her is obvious. She was a COC…a cow of color and she was oppressed by all those beautiful, Braymer, white supremacist cows. She spent her whole life waiting for reparations and along came ol’ Dennis and whacked her in the head like a Minneapolis cop. … Read more »
That Lori Lightfoot fellow is having a not-so-good week.
The background mayhem has resumed before the riots run out of stuff to burn.
Was it a funeral or just another totalitariancrat voter drive rally like the Wellstone memorial?
Things are getting tough for Beetlejuice. On the call, others took aim at Lightfoot herself for her response to the crisis. One man, identified by WTTW News as Ald. Raymond Lopez, demanded that Lightfoot develop a plan to stabilize Chicago’s neighborhoods for five days, calling his Southwest Side ward “a virtual war zone” where armed gang members were threatening to… Read more »
Pity more of the community can’t think like Delvon.
#63, I bet 45. It cuts through the Third Ward and it is the only one big enough for the prestige. Crosses over Emancipation, formerly Dowling, and the required MLK.
Systemic totalitariancrat racist “rev”Al Sharpton, inciter of riots in 1991, gives eulogy.
Nothing wrong with that picture.
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”
Describes no one in the totalitariancrat party.
He preached real good on some favorite Ephesians passages.
I watched Sharpton deliver the eulogy.
Never heard a eulogy where the deceased was so little mentioned.
Are you kidding me?!?! A damn horse drawn carriage?!?! REALLY????? Beam me up Scotty! FWIW; After I posted earlier, I went out and painted the other chair, about 3, I came in. walked by the tube and Al Sharpton, the race baiting, racist, jackass was on, screaming and pointing his finger. I have no idea what he said since it… Read more »

Looks like the current Third Ward is bounded on two sides by 288 and 45.
Take your pick.
62. Ratboy will have the city pay for it.
Let’s start a pool. Which Houston area freeway gets renamed George Floyd Memorial Highway?
I guess they aren’t going to make the 3pm cemetery gate appointment in Pearland.
Earlier, a guy beseeched the rest of speakers to keep it short, because they have a 3pm gate appointment at the Pearland cemetery.
Floyd Mayweather might have to drop another $25,000 late gate fee.
Ain’t coming out, son.
I forget. Some people might’ve never seen a barbed fence staple.
And you’ll never pull a big, barbed staple out of a Bois d’Arc post.

Don’t even try.

The Antifa terrorists have taken territory in Seattle.
#55 Shannon: Great story. Sometimes you just have to use a little persuasion.
The Blue-black Psycho Father-in-law had one last rank cow while I was working for him. There’s a genetic trait in some lines where some gray Brahmans turn partially dark blue in the winter. This one was dark year-round and almost completely blue-black in the winter. Very ominous-looking. She was one of those high-headed SOBs – when she wasn’t grazing, she… Read more »
