Crow Tribesmen at the Rodeo, Crow Fair, 1941
The Crow Fair Celebration is the largest Native American event in Montana, and one of the biggest powwows in the country. Held each year in Crow Agency, Montana by The Apsáalooke people of the Crow Indian Reservation just south of Hardin. Also known as the “Tipi Capital of the world”, Crow Fair begins on the third Thursday in August and attracts more than 50,000 spectators and participants from the around the world.
The annual Crow Fair takes place on the banks of the Little Big Horn River. Yes, now that you ask, they have a big reenactment of Custer’s Last Stand in June. To the victors go the spoils and the celebrations !
Only here will you see Native American riders riding bareback portraying warriors of the Sioux, Cheyenne and Crow tribes. No whites riding as braves! You will see them and Cavalry riders crash across the Little Bighorn River as was done on June 25th. 7th Cavalry Riders wearing the appropriate attire of troopers on the plains with McClellan saddles/gear.
What a day that will be

Yes.
I didn’t mean to infer that the little black guy was the first Houston mayor to enrich his friends.
Hell, I remember Louie Welch.
IAH should have a gigantic bronze statue of him and his friends at the entrance.

Americans do not kneel. We stand. Deep down, we know kneeling in submission to the whims of mobs or tyrants is wrong. Both our ancient stories and our modern myths reflect this truth. Instead of bowing to the altar of collective guilt, our exemplars should be Hanania, Mishael, and Azaria—though most know them by their Babylonian names: Shadrach, Meshach, and… Read more »
When Porker was mayor the good old boys were butch girls.
Back when we had a large construction materials and geotechnical laboratory our company did a large amount of work with city, county, and state governments. Probably 60%. It was a good old boy network full of mutual back-scratching. Crooked as hell. It’s still crooked and it’s still a good old boy network today. Just the good old boys are black.… Read more »
What about if you wear a piece of kente fabric?
Well, I know its not a big deal to y’all, but I just figured out that Gear Nerd Nirvana Tent is a Jansport Yosemite. Sold for $196.50 in 1985, or about $468.22 in 2020 dollars. Probably not a big seller at that price, and at 6 pounds 12 ounces, not what you would call a backpacking tent. Further research is… Read more »
81 gtotracker It’s been too long for me to recommend anyplace over there. I used to stop at a place north of I-10 on 11th Street. I don’t know if it’s there anymore and I can’t remember the name. The only time I ever willingly set foot in an Olive Garden without being dragged in by a vendor or banker… Read more »
I haven’t been East of downtown in no telling how many years. At the very least, way back when I was running hotshot in town…with the occasional foray into LA.
It’s all pine trees all the way to the Atlantic. 🙂
Going to Beaumont on the morrow to meet a potential customer in the AM. I’ve not been that far east in 20 years. I’ve watched enough Texas Bucket episodes to know there is a food joint around there but can’t recall one off hand. Any suggestions are welcome.
Only the mayor’s friends will be able to push permits through. And everyone else will be their subs.
Subs……..as in submissive subcontractors.
Houston is becoming New Jersey.
That little black mayor’s friends are going to get so wealthy that lower Memorial is going to see some interesting changes.
We too are moving out of anything requiring a CoH permit. But we can’t skip
CPL meter crews. Hate those petty twirps.
If you had an engineer on staff, he/she could create a thirty page memo to the city which precisely describes every anticipated action from the time you leave your shop for the job. Maps, graphs, drawings, and photos included.
Bury them in paperwork and they’ll relent.
They would have an orgasm and then want a wind load analysis. Seriously.
Sliced 3/8” thick.
Salt/pepper.
Drag thru cornmeal.
Fry.
Mmmmmmm.

58 & 59 Hamous Isn’t that cultural appropriation? And why the Kwanza garb? St. Floyd wasn’t African. You have to see this woman from Ghana on Twitter. She is great and it has gone viral. Here’s a listing for a high-rise condo in Coeur D’Alene. 2bdr/2bth.
Big ol’ porte-cochére out front.
No yard. No snow shoveling.
$532,500
Perfect.
Big dumb mistake here:

Sounds reasonable to me.
Let the doorman shovel it. He’s getting a little porky anyway.
My pool guy will need work in the winter, anyway.
Had another permit rejected. “Not everyone knows what a CPA is,” among other things. Okay, one of the first things you learn in the meter business is cut, plug, and abandon. The Taps & Meters department uses CPA on their paperwork. If you are reviewing permits for this type of work, you should know basic abbreviations and acronyms. I’m expected… Read more »

Shovel? Snow? I don’t do shovels.
There are machines for that.
Last week it was the Kenyan and now this week Michael comes out their Hamptons bath house to agitate as well.

Was Nads the human colostomy bag able to kneel and if he did did he blow a skid mark a mile long and a foot wide and did the NY Mayo Stain step in it, take a big sniff and say he thought it smelled pretty good?
#53 – Brother if your ailing back hates mowing the lawn – I’m betting shoveling snow will be considerably worse!
Silly boy. You didn’t know that he was uprooted and drug here kicking and screaming in a leaky sailing ship?
Coeur D’Alene Is in a gorgeous area, especially if you’re an outdoorsy type.
For a change of pace, here’s my ONE surviving daylily which somehow manages to bloom every summer, in spite of all the airplane plant greenery I put around the daylily bulbs in the front yard.

I’d like to see how much federal dollars Minneapolis receives specifically for MPD that they’ll need to refund when they “defund” the department.
#54 – It seems as if you expect them to provide a reasonable service, as in “public service” to those who pay them their salaries and perks. You obviously do not understand – they think you work for them, not the other way around. You should have a city council critter you could talk to, specifically in terms of how… Read more »
I strongly suggested that in their next team meeting they talk about putting up a detailed, step by step document online with very specific instructions on how they want these permits filled out. That will get everyone – them and us – literally on the same page. When changes are made to the process, a note to that effect should… Read more »
Just talked to the analyst in charge of this permit for particulars. I’ve known her for a long time, and we’re friendly. What she wants me to do is completely different from the way I’ve been doing these permits for years. Her instructions for the changes were ambiguous, and I told her so. Her instructions are also different from what… Read more »
Surprisingly, Coeur D’Alene, ID averages only 26.5” rain per year.
(Houston is over 45”)
They do average 45” of snow.
The elevation is 2937’.
December and Jan can be a little chilly. 🙂
It’s hard to deal with all of this stress while I can’t get comfortable, either.
Never thought I’d take sitting for granted.

Sometime in the second Obama term the number of sunny days began to decline here so I figure it’s Barack’s fault. Or perhaps it’s the inevitable onset of another mini-Ice Age.

Northern New Jersey gets only 93 full sun days a year. They claim it gets 112 “partly sunny” days which translates to the sun peeking through the clouds for 20 minutes each day so it is really a lie. Idaho is lucky.

After a complete shut down and reboot, my ducks seem to be back in a row now and out spying on all the nooks and crannies of the internet.
City of Houston permits suck. Suck, suck, suck, suck, suck, suck, suck.
Paulie is another one of those guys that it would take terrific restraint to not punch him in the nose.
