Tuesday Open Commentary

Finally caught a bass from my kayak. He’s not very big, but he was spunk, especially on a 3-wt fly rod. (you can see the fly in his lip)

Gonna try to catch some redfish, etc. on a fly rod in a couple weeks. Gotta get my 9-wt out for that.

Strange man showed up at my door tonight.

Especially those women who are bigger around than they are tall, driving former cop Crown Vics (with the spotlight still attached) who can barely see over the steering wheel.

Our city council critter is trying to get a roundabout at the intersection of irvington and Patton. I foresee trouble. Mexicans pay little attention to stoplights and even less attention to stop signs. A yield sign is like a green light.

Gnats took advantage of their time off to study all the pitchers and were prepared to do some hitting tonight.  Astros may have thought they already had it in the bag and were not totally prepared. Gnats did not get here on a lark – they are a darn good team.  Let’s see how it turns out, but not looking… Read more »

110, wear a vest. Had a recent incident where a family member may not have made it. Kayaks on the bay are not very visible from power boats and they text and drive as well. Where 146 crosses the Dickinson Bayou/Bay. The ramp is under the bridge, Hillman’s is just down the street for live bait, not an issue for… Read more »

Thanks, TexMo.

The fact that she didn’t want a visit tonight is telling. Dammit.

Nice kayak. Can’t quite make out the brand, rather upscale with a squared off nose. Not a Hobie. The Roman inspired deck foot gear is rather novel. No slip soles?

In the 2000s we had a 28 game Astros package that allowed us to buy playoff seats as well. In 2005 I was lucky enough to attend the first World Series game ever held in Texas. We bought four field box seats out the first base line 25 rows up for $190 each. We sold the tickets for the second… Read more »

Nosebleed tickets for tomorrow night’s game behind home plate are $480. Lower level along the baselines run about $1,700!

Any of y’all want to buy a kid?

OK, I need to set this up. I mentioned the Grey Fox that I saw a couple of times cross the road down by the tractor shed. So today, I noticed that something was digging under the swing hanging from the big Cedar and thought, what did that? There was a mole track running around and something was digging to… Read more »

I swear, when critters run across the roof of the Dome, it can sound like a small pony with slippers on. That one must’ve been a possum or raccoon. Big ‘un.

Well, Cousin Pat has been admitted to St. Lukes Hospital. Aunt Mary had told Cousin Robbie to go ahead and pack some bags, because “she’s just going in for a consult but you never know…” Shore nuff, Pat’ll be there for at least 2 or 3 days, getting an oncology evaluation, abdominal imaging, and all kinds of poking and prodding.… Read more »

Oh and my turnip patch is doing great, a dang month after I planted it most of the seeds are now sprouting.
