I talked to the Boy last night and he was excited about his trip to the California Tactical Academy, gun range. He went with another AVP that is a Gun Nut, come to find out that there is a large Gun Culture out there, even with the crazy gun laws. This doesn’t surprise me, as there are a lot of normal Californians, they just have to put up with all the BS that comes out of Sacramento. His buddy has a Ruger American, in 6.5 Creedmoor, that they shot on the long range course. My boy hit a steel plate at 800 yards pretty regularly with it. If you didn’t know the 6.5 Creedmoor is a fairly new, 264 caliber round that is real popular for long range shooting. The heavier 264 rounds are long for their diameter and have a high BC, for flatter shooting, with out much recoil. Of course the 6.5 will not do anything that the 264 Winchester will not do better, but that is another story. So now, the Boy has to have a long range weapon and his first choice would be mine. A Savage® Arms Model 10T-SR Tactical Bolt-Action Rifle. It is an accurate no-nonsense rifle at a very reasonable price. I, of course, would opt for a 338 Laupa, but the Boy wants a 6.5.

It just dawned on me that I’m missing a holiday, Columbus Day was one of those obscure days that we got @ the Rocket Ranch, along with Flag Day. Since last Friday was Flex-Friday and today, a holiday, I might have taken a Road Trip. 😉

I went many a mile in a 52 Chevy just like this one, even the same color. How I’d like to have it now.

George Disney’s ’53 9300 is parked on a roadside near picturesque Pitt Meadows British Columbia not far from Vancouver, BC. George has painstakingly restored and attended to his GMC for many years and it shows. Canadian GMCs in ’53 had identical bodies to US Production, but used 216 Chevy motors.

Good morning Hamsters. Waiting for some rain here and the arrival of the next cold front to chase away today’s relapse into late summer. Currently 73 here and a miserable change from yesterday morning’s 57.

That seems to be a smart policy to stand back while the Dems make fools of themselves and show it often. Let the thing speak for itself. 🙂

Well, the cold front might have showed up here, it is sprinkling rain and 62 degrees down from 65 at 4 AM. The front was supposed to come through tomorrow afternoon with a 80% chance of rain late in the day, 15% chance today. I do hope we get rain, the last measurable rain was on August 27 and my turnip patch looks real sad, less than ¼ of the seeds came up even though I’ve been watering them. 🙁

No one but government agencies and their contractors have ever gotten that holiday. If the evildems ever get power again it will be banned and old Chris will be stricken from all history books except to teach that he was the root of all evil perpetrated against the benign and saintly people of color colored people.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch …

Morning gang.  Suffering a little Astros hangover this morning after inadvertently staying up until the last dog was dead, I still got up on time this morning – I foresee a nap in my future today.  It’s a bit cloudy out here this morning, with a chance of thunderstorms this morning, which of course means no rain today.  Need to get some chores done this morning, or at least sometime today, or tomorrow if I don’t get to them.  Wednesday is looking like a travel day back to Big D for some baseball with BFF.  OK, you folks have a great day, and I’ll be reporting back later if something important happens.  More later.

The Astros game went very long last night I understand. Nothing in the Chron on the outcome of course as their deadline must have been long before the game ended. Likewise nobody here has mentioned it yet
in the comments. Spouse tells me they won. Yea! It must have been this morning in the wee hours that happened. So now they go off to NY for tomorrow afternoon’s game.

And yea for the Texans yesterday. It appeared that Mr. Watson had more protection yesterday as he seemed to be standing upright much more than flat on the ground this game. And he scored 2 TDs himself.

Nats are leading the Cards 4-0 in the 4th.  Nats and Yanks in WS might be my new pick, which started with the Astros v Dodgers.  Dodgers got wiped out by Nats, and Cards are not looking very good right now  Astros don’t seem to have the drive, grit, and determination that they showed last year.  The Yankees are  just plain good – they don’t need any extra adrenalin or anything.  So, for now it looks like Nats v Yanks.  Keep in mind of course that I’m still scoring virtually 100% wrong on all my political and sports picks.

Our tax situation is considerably less complicated than in the past. I do not really have a need to procrastinate anymore. In fact the CPA suggested we get everything to him by March 1st next spring. It was an exhausting game to watch tonight between the Packers and Lions at Green Bay. Temp at game time was 40 degrees with an overnight low expected to be 36. Not quite see your breath temps. That Alaskan cold front obviously got there, so everybody in the stands was bundled up and many of the players were wearing long- sleeved shirts.

Packers won 23-22 in the last minute or so, A. Rodgers having perfectly managed the last few minutes to give Mason Crosby the honor of kicking the winning field goal in the last few seconds. With that win they have already defeated the other three teams in the NFL North Division and are currently 5-1 for the season. Quite a different position from that predicted by sports gurus who said they would be only a so-so team this year. Certainly a very nice start to the season.
