There are still 3 Senate races undecided at 05:15 EST – Arizona, Mississippi, Montana.
I didn’t think O’Rourke would get more than 43%.
Scott beat Nelson in Florida senate race by a hair. This race, according to James Carville, was a bellwether for the 2020 election. He said it was the single most important race to watch in 2018.
Only somebody as stupid as John Culberson could lose to a leftwing lunatic in one of the most red districts in the state.
Another shocker: Pete Sessions lost in Texas 32nd District. He’s been there for 16 years.
-
Dang, I stayed up too late last night.
My only real surprise was that O’rouke got 48%, kinda’ scary, I wonder how many votes they stole.
Mornin’ Gang -
Only one Republican won in the Harris County positions – Jack Cagle. Even the ventriloquist dummy Orlando Sanchez lost.
-
Who was the last Democrat to hold Harris County Judge? I think it’s been Republican since I moved here in 1981. I believe Jon Lindsay was the judge then.
-
As I walked in this morning, I saw that Twins in the middle of the parking lot, heading for the Live Oak by the street, they love acorns.
I heard on the radio that all the Senators, up for reelection, that voted against Kavanaugh lost and the only one that voted for him, Joe Manchin, out of West Virginia, won. -
OK, I’ll say it, assuming we were going to lose the House anyway, was it just as well that john Culberson lost? Maybe in two years we will have a SANE election and we can get a new conservative Senator in Texas #7. He was/is a useless RINO, we tried to primary him out a while back but couldn’t get R done.
The old Radio Skank, Dayna Steele, pulled 27% in Texas #36. I knew she couldn’t win but dang, couldn’t Beto’s coattails carry her to 40%? -

It’s pretty amazing, losing CD 7 and the County Judge. -
I have a question, I posted @ 6:08 and didn’t refresh or anything, and just now, I tried to post a comment and it says; you must be logged in?! It does this occasionally.
Also, when I fired up the computer this morning, I didn’t have to log in, as I usually stay logged in for days, until HAL decides to kick me off. -
I predict the Majic Micksican will run against Cornyn in 2020.

#4 #7 Over yonder, David Jennings was lamenting the loss of Ed Emmett and the other Harris county Republicans, but with the tsunami vote this election, I don’t find it at all surprising. Harris county has been turning blue for a long time.
-
Once again rural Texas pulls Texas’ chestnuts out of the fire. But Red Texas may be developing a slightly purplish hue.
I told you years ago that we need a wall around the entire state.

RE: Log In
Word Press periodically purges people who have been logged in for a long time. I’ve seen it on other sites. I’ve noticed a few high traffic sites like Instapundit, a Word Press user, will disconnect you if you are inactive and leave a tab open to the site.

I just looked at a map of Texas Congressional District 7, Culberson’s former district. It looks nothing like what it used to. It runs east inside the loop and south all the way past Bellaire. There’s a bunch of blue precincts in there.
I can see now why it was such a hard fight.

Beto has changed his name to Nacho.

Kinda forgot about the rest of the country. Scott Walker lost.

Fort Bend County now has a Democrat DA and County Judge.

Just got a text from my friend in Arizona. He said McSally is ahead, but barely. He believes she will win, but there is small possibility the bizarre, unhinged Sinema might pull out a win.

In the House…
Pennsylvania had 4 seats flip from Republican to Democrat in the Philadelphia suburbs.
New Jersey had 3 seats flip red to blue, maybe 4.
New York had 2 seats turn Democrat.
Virginia lost 3 Republican seats to Democrats.
That’s about half the new Democrat seats in the country.
And this is weird. Iowa has 4 House seats – before 3 were Republican, 1 Democrat. Now it’s 3 Democrat, 1 Republican. The state flipped 50% of its members in the House.
-
Pennsylvania had 4 seats flip from Republican to Democrat in the Philadelphia suburbs.
All due to a judge gerrymandering the districts to dilute the GOP vote.
-
Let’s look at what won’t be happening, despite the fever dreams of the Democrats. First, there will be no big ticket legislative packages going through. No major immigration reform supporting the highest priorities of either party. No new tax cuts, but also no tax increases. No new gun control legislation. The fact is, these folks will be lucky if they can name a new Post Office.
The President isn’t going to be impeached. The Democrats would need to round up every one of their members in the House to get the ball rolling and too many of them are on record saying that would be too extreme. And even if they managed it in the House there is zero chance of a conviction in the Senate. Donald Trump will finish his first term at a minimum.
The wall isn’t going to be finished. That’s somehow become a badge of honor among Democrats, despite being one of the most doable solutions to immigration problems imaginable. If we’re going to get any money at all for additional wall construction, the new House majority will want a massive pound of flesh in return.
Bills that liberals like will probably be passed in the House only to die in the Senate. Conservative legislation won’t make it out of committee in the House so the Senate generally won’t even get a chance to look at them. This, of course, means that the President will need to continue to rely on executive orders and reinterpretations of language to make any progress, just as Obama did. If you see that as a positive development, I’ve got a bridge to sell you.
Bottom line… nobody has any reason to celebrate as far as I can tell. This election was “historic” in terms of the numbers and the split decision, but that’s only of interest to those of us who engage in political trivia for a living. The practical downstream effects are virtually nill.
-
The question is not “is there gerrymandering, but to what degree is it present?”
I submit that EVERY DISTRICT be redrawn Nationwide with the following parameters:
1) Postal zip codes need to be the boundaries.
2) The area in each zone needs to be minimized to accommodate the necessary population.
3) No more dividing neighborhoods or communities.
4). No more districts that look like a worm was dipped in ink and being chased by fire ants. The end result of the above is that the blatant gerrymandering of the Ds and their judicial spawn will result in fewer Ds being elected; thus it will never happen.
-
#36: About the only thing I can see getting passed is continuing resolutions.
-
It is the state legislatures’ duty to draw districts, not judges.
-
Presume there will be more to be seen once the dust totally settles from yesterday’s elections. The Republicans have their work cut out for 2020, clear as can be. And to prepare for that, they must perform well between now and then. As for the Dems, we shall see how well they perform, many of them tightly wrapped in radical beliefs that the Texas electorate in general does not embrace. By their fruits you shall know them.
-
Alabama stays Red, well except for Gerrymandered #7.
-
I love how the wannabe talking head get so serious breaking down the election and what the voters were saying. Like they all got in a room and decided to punish the R’s for Trump and punish the D’s for Kavanaugh. Just like the old pundits used to say the American people like to hold government in check by having the House and Senate ran by opposing parties.
-
Again, let’s not panic. In order to drain the swamp, the eReps needed to be flushed out, and to a large extent (at least in the House), they either did not run or they were defeated. Even at the expense of giving up the House for 2 years – it’s worth it to get rid of Paul Ryan and his ilk. After all, what is the House going to do other than stir up dirt like a whirling dirvish, but nothing at all will get accomplished except giving Trump a target to run against in 2020. Overall, good – swamp creatures gone at basically no political cost.
The Senate should continue approving judges as fast as they can get nominated, and even the weak sisters can’t gang up and stop it now. Nothing else needs to be done except approve judges for the next two years, and all will be well. A do nothing congress is a good congress.
That’s the last we will hear about the caravans. Their sponsors cut off funding last night at midnight, and all those poor people who are pawns in the libs game will be turned out like a litter of unwanted cats, left to fend for themselves. Meanwhile, border enforcement will improve operating under the radar. Screw the physical wall – that has always stood for enhanced border enforcement, and it will make an excellent example for Trump to run against in 2020.
Couldn’t have asked for a much better situation for Trump. It’s almost like he set it up himself – who knows, maybe he did.

Lies and backstabbingAnd Culberson was there all the way.
Lyin’ should’ve been removed the second he announced he was retiring but the losers in the house of ill repute wouldn’t do it.
-
Drainin’ the swamp, and getting the Dems to spend their money and to do it for you. Doesn’t get much better than that.
Locally, does anyone think it wasn’t time for Ed Emmett to move on? And swamp fevered Culberson? And in Dallas long time anti-Trumper Pete Sessions? We do owe Beto a debt of gratitude there. The great American divide comes more clearly into focus, and that’s a good thing.
-
Heh.
-
What did the Paul Ryan led Rep house give us exactly?

No sir. The House passed the repeal bill. That one must be laid squarely at the feet of John McCain and the Twisted Sisters.
-
In the wee hours of the night however, three Republicans killed the best chance yet to finally repeal Obamacare – McCain was joined by Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and Susan Collins (R-ME).
Collins and Murkowski have long been known dissenters in the Republican efforts to repeal the ACA, making McCain the clear and deciding factor in this latest Senate failure.
It was, as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said, “clearly a disappointing moment.”
-
The one disappointment may have been Pete Olsen hanging on in CD 22. This would have been a good time to ease him out too. He’s been the biggest disappointment I’ve ever supported (except for one of my exes).
-
No sir. The House passed the repeal bill.
Many times.
-
This is great. Trump congratulates Nancy P on the Dem victory and further promises to deliver Rep votes to insure her selection as Speaker. How much more humiliating can it be than to have the President on your side when your side is salivating to destroy you. Great move.
https://dailycaller.com/2018/11/07/trump-support-nancy-pelosi-democratic-party-revolt/ -
You are correct but I believe Lyin’s heart was not in it and he already had a back room deal with McCain to bail him out.

From Phil’s #47
Democrat beaten by a dead pimp.
But lost amid the flurry of headlines was the landslide victory by Nevada brothel owner Dennis Hof, the self-described “Trump from Pahrump”, who clinched a seat in the state legislature despite having died three weeks ago.
His seat will be filled by another Republican who will be chosen during a joint meeting process lead by county commissioners which brings us to the practical considerations that helped buoy Hof’s bid from beyond the grave. Though Hof was running in a deep-red district, some conservative voters had reservations about his business. But by dying, Hof handed these voters the opportunity to vote for a Republican, but avoid being represented by a man who earned his living from legalized prostitution.

I pretty much agree, he got the Senate and now has an even better chance to get his judges through and
ifwhen the house decide to impeach him, that will cause such a mess that it will guarantee Trumps reelection. The down side is Obama Care stands but hell it may have anyway. -

It would be such a gift if both she and Mad Maxine both started spouting gibberish during a live interview.

It looks like the Arizona senate race will go to recount and, of course, the courts. Two hours ago, there was only a 16,000 vote difference with Republican McSally ahead.

I watched the Trump press conference. Amazing how rude a couple of them were – he should really just pick up the phone, call their bosses, and tell them to send someone else over if they want to have representation at the pressers. He took credit for getting rid of the eReps, including retirees, and specifically took credit for retiring Jeff Flake. At times it seemed he was spinning to make the best of the situation, but I really think he believes having a Dem House is better – but it’s complicated. He sparred with the press for an hour and a half – after all he’s done campaigning, seems he’s not done yet. I was riveted to the TV the entire time.
-
Now that the political cr@pola is done, let’s turn our focus to the incredible natural world.
-
I heard some of it on my way to and from Kroger. There was one female reporter who asked again and again, “just one more question, Mr President?”
-
PDJT sounded tired and beat at the press conference. The Newspeak Media of the Mobs were mobbing him.
Beating on him.
Pounding on him.He sounded whipped.
Said we need immigrants.–No we don’t.
10 year stoppage is what we really need.Thinks he can work with Pelozi.–No he can’t.
The Newspeak Media of the Mobs hates white people. Even the white ones hate white people and that’s why they worship at the altar of 3rd world sh#!hole country immigration.
They want whites to be the minority and they can’t wait for it.
I’d wager 80% of all 3rd worlders vote demmie. Once they’re the majority it’s over for the pubbies. They’ll be relegated to the elephant dung bin of history.Between massive 3rd world immigration and the thorough brainwashing from k thru college coupled with the massive brainwashing via the Newspeak Media of the Mobs and Hollywood.
One and done party rule nationwide.
It’s been going on since 1965 and this will happen if not curtailed by like, uh, yesterday. That’s it.
-
Sessions is gone.
-
That was overdue.
-
After perusing the results of the County Judge coupled with the odd results in Fort Bend County, it occurs to me that the Beto thing was intended more as a GOTV effort for down ballot races in urban areas rather than to elect a Senator.it certainly had that effect.
-
IOW, raise out of State money from people who could not care less about DA of FBC, intended to GOTV in urban areas under the auspices of doing it for a candidate they know won’t win Statewide.
-
Commenter at AoSHQ, re: Sessions
“Trump needs a war time consiglieri.”
-
Now declassify everything and fire Ferris and Rosenrodent.
-
Now declassify everything
Kind of a moot point now. Nunes is out of power. Schiff-for-brains has no interest in proving his party colluded with Russians. Who’s going to investigate? DOJ? FBI? They were neck deep in it with the DNC and Clinton campaign.
Unless they can get it done before Jan. 1st.
-
Yeah that donged on me today too.
-
Now that Trump has some breathing room in the Senate, not firing Sessions would have been irrational. Now the big question is who to pick and will this person forcefully investigate the Ds for thier Russia collusion, Hillary for her nurerous crimes, the House Ds for their leaking of classified info, etc. How about investigating Mewler and Rosenputz for obstruction of justice?
-

I thought it was “no big deal” losing the House. Even a good thing for Trump.
-
Declassify it all unredacted and make it public so I can read it myself.
-
For y’all non-FBers, there’s a feature to allow you to mark yourself safe in natural or man made disasters. A high school buddy posted this this morning:
-
Lindsey Graham is angling to chair the Senate Judiciary Committee. I have a feeling he won’t let all of this crap go.
-
I thought it was “no big deal” losing the House. Even a good thing for Trump.
I believe I said I tend to agree it wasn’t the end of the world. Hell, how long ago were those documents declassified? Long enough that it could have been an October surprise. What have we heard? Crickets. I also added an “on the other hand”. All we can do now is make lemonade. Thats where the gaggle of congressional Democrat geese come in.
-
But I might be joining SD over in Alabammy if Texas and Florida keep flirting with stinking commies.
-
Banjos
-
Only problem with Alabama is they got a nasty progressive state income tax.
-
Losing the House was no big deal. None at all. Seriously, what were the eReps accomplishing anyway? Nothing worthwhile. Good riddance to a lot of useless, limp wristed eReps. Part of the swamp draining effort. Sometimes you have to give a little to get something more. Would you trade some never ending investigation for a couple more SCOTUS justices, several lower court appointments, cabinet nominees – of course. The Dem House can sit over there as spin around and rain subpoenas, but otherwise, they can’t do anything. What better set up for 2020 than having that idiocy on full display. Nothing was ever going to happen to the leakers and other perps anyway. Trump is holding all the trump cards now. I’m beginning to think he planned it this way.
-
I’ve always had screech owls around the house here in the barrio. Since last week a Great Horned Owl has been hanging out in one of my pine trees every evening about this time. Been trying to get a photo.
-
I wanna see the photo when you get it.
-
Almost had one tonight but just as I found him he flew a couple houses down.
-
I think this election proves that non-stop advertising (couched as news) actually works. When is the DOJ going to go after the Ds and the LSM, BIRM, for campaign finance violations of not reporting the in-kind contributions?
OK, after you catch your breath from laughter, there has to be an answer for this.

How fortunate to have such an elegant visitor. Hope he/she hangs around a while so you can get a picture and enjoy the evening company. Something must have attracted it to your yard, perhaps edible nocturnal wildlife.

Yesterday:
Wow.
A Darren sighting!!Hope you and yours are well, sir.
Thank you Shannon. Backatchya’.
Howdy all. I took a breather from here but I’ve kept up with Super Dave and Squaw on facebook and even saw Hamous appear on Squaies’ radar blip over there. Lots of updates.
I now have two adult children in my house. Janisen graduated Cum Laude and is studying digital art at Lone Star College North Campus. Nice campus. Kason was pulled from school due to truancy. He came down with high anxiety and so he could not sleep at night and so slept in during the morning, missing a lot of school. The school’s assistant principal would not accept his doctor’s note stating Kason was under his care and so Niki pulled Kason out of school. Kason just got his GED. He’s working at main Event and plans to start college as soon as he can start paying for it himself. He’ll most likely go into a trade school. Nobody knows which trade but we all agree that would be the best route for him to follow.
I finally got a full time teaching job. It’s nice not to have to rely so much on Ubering though I still do it throughout the week. When it’s Niki’s my week to walk Aedhun to school I don’t see my sweet 6 year old all week and it pains me when I think about it. I do take him out somewhere on Saturday. Usually to McD’s or Chick Fil-A which have play areas. We go to the mall and when there Aedhun has to attend the play area, and Lego and animal stores. Then it’s home after a long time out.
So the job I got is virtual learning for Spring ISD. I have never been happier in my life with any other job. I monitor students who need to recover credits. This is due to either, failing a semester, excessive absences, or dropping out of a school completely. Lots of my students are adults in their low 20s. Some even have kids. I love talking with them and making sure they are on task. I am a teacher of record for the Social Studies portion of the curriculum though I’d much prefer Spanish. I can see myself working in this position until I fully retire.
We’re planning to go see my parents in Orlando at the end of this year. It’ll be for their 50th anniversary. This’ll be the first time all my siblings and their families and me and my family will be together in one place at the same time in over a decade. I spearheaded getting us all together and I decided at the start NO FAMILY DRAMA! That has proven quite prudent. I don’t let any drama affect me, nor will I be a means to pass it long. It is what it is and things are coming together.
We got a new puppy. His name is Kuro. He was an abandoned boy. Janisen’s friend works at a dog boarding place and after our Kuro was dropped off the owner said she will not return to pick him up. So there he was fed and given all his shots but needed a home. Janisen proposed taking him in and this was before I got my current job so that was my main apprehension in our taking in a new dog. But I was prayerful about it and I dutifully aid “yes ma’am” to Niki when she really wanted to accept him. We think he’s either part German Sheppard or part Rotweiller. His body build resembles neither but his coloring and facial structure do. And, boy ,he’s got one heck of a bite. much stronger than any other dog I’ve ever had. So I trained him quickly to chew on rawhide and not anyone’s arm or hand, and especially not nip at anyone, especially at their face. He’d get popped if he did the latter. As for chewing on limbs, we’d withdraw from him whatever he wanted to chew on, demotivating his wrestling desire, calm him, then give him a rawhide or thick rope to chew and pull on with us. He’d get tons of praises when he’d do so and it’s worked great. he’s a really good dog. rarely barks though when he did recently it was at the door which was left open (metal screen door shut) and it was a deep menacing bark. The poor kid Janisen called for pizza was already halfway back down our driveway ready to hi tail it out of there. I hope she gave him a decent tip for his troubles.
That about sums things up for now. I came here yesterday to share my political anxiety and I’m glad I did. Good group of people here.
🙂

Well, hello again, Hamsterville™ ! Comcast been out at Chez Harp all afternoon. I was so downtrodden & hopeless, I found myself reading the home-delivery Wednesday HouChron. Even worked a weekday sudoku, which is no challenge but it kept me from banging my head against the wall for about 15 minutes. I was grateful for the diversion.
-
Glad things are going well, Darren.
-
Thanks Hamous.

Isn’t that the school district that wacky Izquierdo worked at?
-
Darren, sounds like all the right pieces are falling into the right places.
Experience has taught me that given time, the young’uns figger out their place in the world. I hope Kason finds his bliss and his purpose.
-
Darren,
What Tedtam said. And God continue to bless you and your family. 🙂

I was going to say hunnert and enjoyed reading Darren’s update, but I guess I’ll just have to say I enjoyed reading Darren’s update.
-
Tell Kason to check out plumbing, it is a trade that will never be replaced by machines.
-
Plumbing contractors own all the new 6 figure boats down at the marinas on the Hudson River across from Manhattan after all the hedge fund guys and attorneys went bust in 2009-10.
One of my regrets is not going and getting a plumber’s license decades ago even if I didn’t use it. Talk about the ultimate fall back gig. There’s none to beat it.
-
I saw where Jim Acosta had his creds yanked by the Secret Service. I guess refusing to hand over the microphone today and pushing an intern away was the last straw.
Don’t touch the interns.
Don’t be a wisshole.
Then you can stay. -
Well, well – So long Jim. Go find Sessions and you two can cry in your beer together.

There’s gonna be a shortage of plumbers soon. If Kason doesn’t mind the physical work, he can make a good living at it.
-
#105 TT:. It’s about wissin time! Let’s hope that it happens again with the next reporter that acts like a Jack hole.

Thanks for the update, Darren!

You got that right. He and I have talked and we both agree the number one thing for him is to develop a personal relation with God. So much in life works out for the better just from that focal point.
-
Just a note on the WH press people. You can say what you want about them, about their wives, their friends, their kids, the size of their you know what, or anything else you want to, but the one thing they value and prize and protect at all costs is that WH pass. Without it, they are nothing more than regular mortals, but with it, they are the hero in every bar and at least in their minds, worshiped by all who are in their presence. Nothing they could do to the CNN jerk could hurt him worse than taking that WH pass away. It’s good to see Sarah Sanders standing up for her staffers – no one should be treated like that intern was.
-
Look at this El G-Man.
Did we really win the senate?
Romney? The Hell? That carpet bagging piece of you know what.
Not even sworn in yet and moves to become McCain the Jackass 2.0.
-
#113 – They are all talking but they are also witnessing what happens when they oppose The Donald. Mittens couldn’t become President, so he’s taking over the McCain/Gramnesty wing of the eRep party. Once these big talking people sit back and take a look at what’s happening, they will quietly slip back into place. Trump has the declassified documents, and there’s a reason they weren’t disclosed – in the private sector it might be called “blackmail,” but in DC it’s called politics. Basically, he’s daring anyone to pull the scab off this abscessed, seeping canker sore because if they do they might see more than they wanted to. Just my $.02.
In other news, I see where the Weasel has cancelled a speaking engagement in California. Seems the last high powered law enforcement guy they sent out there to give a speech wound up having to thumb a ride back to DC after seeing on TV that he had been fired. https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2018/11/rosenstein-cancels-scheduled-speech-for-tomorrow-following-white-house-meeting/
Seriously, why would any administration official waste any time fooling with any of the west coast states. They are no longer relevant. -
