Monday You Are Not The Center Of The Universe Open Comments

You are not the center of the universe. You live on a speck sitting on a mote of dust on a grain of sand on the Ipanema Beach that is the universe.

This wouldn’t be complete without showing the source of my analogy.

Note: Video is work-safe. Contains Girls From Ipanema. (Rrrrroooowwwwwrrrr…)

Ironically, an exception to the Obama administration’s quest for One Nation Under Massachusetts is Massachusetts. There, citizens didn’t get to determine whether their state awarded recognition to homosexual marriages either. So it’s fitting that in ignoring the will of the people as expressed through their elected representatives on a national level, the Obama administration has used Massachusetts, where a plurality… Read more »

The magazine said in its testing in Connecticut during a harsh winter, its Volt is getting 25 to 27 miles on electric power alone. GM spokesman Greg Martin noted that it’s been an extremely harsh winter — and as a Volt driver he said he’s getting 29-33 miles on electric range. But he noted that in more moderate recent weather,… Read more »

In terms of humility, I like these videos that show us as a spec in the universe. But the fact that we are but specs of dust awes me more. We, the human race are the children of a living and omnipotent God. We have free will and when we use it to disobey God’s will, we are lower than… Read more »

#52 Simple

Found a fairly upscale brothel about 15 minutes from the site and these guys served an early morning breakfast.

“these guys” ?
Must have been a very interesting brothel down there.
The Venezuelan brothels I observed were usually full of girls or at least they looked like girls, anyway.

#60 Simple Many years ago, Hubby and I stayed at his family’s cabin not too far from Austin. There was no plumbing, it was late February or early March, and I was desperate for some sort of bathing. 56 Sarge,
I spent two weeks in a remote oil camp on the Orinoco Basin. I had to “hot-sheet” share a hammock. We ate grilled chicken, beans, and rice for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The bathing facilities was a community bucket.

By parsing the sentence like the media does, Simple has made a confession:

Brothels sometimes offer better living conditions and be closer to the work site.
I rented a room in a brothel for over a month in Venezuelia.

He can prove that.
Its worded exactly that way on his compnay expense report.
Thats his story and he’s sticking to it.

#43 Tedtam, that has always been a pretty big “IF” and it’s been getting bigger for a long time.
It’s a perfectly sound theory, but I’m skeptical of the likelihood of effective application in the real world, especially in a world where people have free will.

Garfield S’plains the oil crisis A lot of folks can’t understand how we came to have an oil shortage here in our country. ~~~ Well, there’s a very simple answer. ~~~ Nobody bothered to check the oil. ~~~ We just didn’t know we were getting low. ~~~ The reason for that is purely geographical. ~~~ Our OIL is located in:… Read more »

Yep, and we have floor drains that need the same TLC. They sure come in handy. That cup of water every now and then is small price to pay for not having to mop up water and to protect our house from being flooded by an indoor water leak.

Just a heads up to my friends – lots of people, run some extra water. Also, if you have floor drains or a “guest” bathroom that is seldom used, the water in the trap will evaporate, allowing sewer gas into the room. Pretty bad aroma, it is. Run some water through all sinks, tubs showers, etc ’bout once a month… Read more »
