The Face of Evil

Federica Maria Mogherini

High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy

Caroline Glick in the Jerusalem Post:

Due to an unusual conflation of events, over the past two weeks we’ve caught a rare glimpse of the face of European foreign policy. We shouldn’t let it pass unremarked.

Last Friday, the European Union’s foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini presided over a curious summit in Vienna. In the same hall where she and her colleagues concluded the nuclear deal with Iran three years ago, Mogherini and her comrades tried to concoct ways to save the deal by undermining American power and defying its decision to abandon the deal.

Mogherini was joined in her efforts by the German, French and British foreign ministers. Sitting opposite them were Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif, and the Russian and Chinese foreign ministers. Together they brainstormed ways to undermine the economic sanctions the US will begin implementing next month against Iran and anyone from anywhere that trades with Iran.

The Europeans have been lying and undermining the United States and Israel for decades now.  They are two-faced sleazebags of the first order and all their appeals to honesty and peace are nothing but unadulterated crap.

If the Europeans were, in fact, serious about being an ally of America and Israel, Federica Mogherini wouldn’t have any role in EU leadership.

Mogherini has been publicly attacking the US for walking away from the nuclear deal and declaring her allegiance to the pact three times a day, every day since May 8 when Trump announced he was pulling the US out of it and reimposing sanctions on Iran.

What we didn’t know until recently is why Mogherini and her colleagues have chosen to stand with Iran against America.

We got the answer on June 30.

and,

As to the policy itself, Europe’s Iran policy is a policy of pure appeasement, based on profound weakness. Mogherini and her comrades are fully aware that Iran can cause them harm and intends to cause them harm. Through payoffs and betrayal of the US they hope to convince the Iranians to attack someone else instead of them. They don’t care if it’s Israel or Saudi Arabia or America. As far as the Europeans are concerned, Iran can kill whoever it wants, so long as it doesn’t attack Europe.

This is Europe’s Iran policy. It has no other policy.

and this,

Whereas Europeans fear the Iranians and the Russians, they hate Israel. And the goal of Europe’s Israel policy is to weaken the Jewish state through delegitimization, political and legal subversion and the constant threat of commercial sanctions.

Israel’s great error in contending with Europe is that we fail to recognize, as Trump recognizes, that European rhetoric doesn’t represent its actual policy. It camouflages it. We send our best lawyers to Europe to explain that our policies conform with international law. We deploy our most talented diplomats to Europe to prove that our actions advance human rights. And our greatest statesmen have spent decades trying to prove our commitment to peace.

President Trump has no qualms about pointing out the monumental hypocrisy and deceit of these people.

RTWDT.

From the Wikipedia bio page for Mogherini:

A member of the Italian Communist Youth Federation, upon joining in 1988. In 1996, Mogherini joined the Youth Left after the dissolution of the Italian Communist Party and its transformation into a Social Democratic Party. In 2001, she became a member of the National Council of the Democrats of the Left (DS), later serving on its National Executive Board and Political Committee. In 2003, she started working at the DS’s Foreign Affairs Section, where she was given responsibility for relations with international movements and parties, later becoming the team’s coordinator; after that she was given responsibility for Foreign Affairs and International Relations on the staff of DS Party chairman Piero Fassino. In this role, she oversaw the policies on Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as the Middle East peace process. Mogherini was in charge of maintaining relations with the Party of European Socialists, the Socialist International and other left-wing parties, including with the US Democratic Party.

Fake News Alert from one of my favorite Canadians, Kate McMillan at SDA:

Fortune Magazine, July 5th – Canadian network CTV reported that shoppers and travelers are boycotting both U.S. goods and getaways, posting to Twitter with hashtags like #BuyCanadian, #BoycottUSProducts, and #BoycottUSA, following remarks made by Trump about Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Associated Press, July 15th — Border crossing data indicates the number of Canadian motorists returning from the U.S. in June grew 12.7 percent from last year, a healthy increase, according to a license plate-scanning system used by the Canadian government.

I think Sarge mentioned this last night, but it is worth noting.
Rob Reiner’s Shock and Awe Earns a Measly $41,000 on Opening Weekend.

According to Box Office Mojo, for the weekend of July 13-15th, Shock and Awe grossed a measly $41,000.
n contrast, Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation, which topped ticket sales earned $44,100,00.

Now granted, the latter is a big budget kids movie, but in comparison, Shock and Awe earned about the same amount on its first weekend as Show Dogs did for the same period. That film has been running for 9 weeks and ranks 17 percent on the Rotten Tomatometer.

So far, the Tomatometer has Shock and Awe at 36 percent but with less than 30 reviews.

The critics have also been far less than complimentary.

  5. Sarge Avatar

Yah, if you didn’t see it last night, here is the breakdown:

Rob “Meathead” Reiner’s new film, “Shock and Awe,” starring Woody Harrelson, Tommy Lee Jones and Jessica Biel about the runup to the Iraq War, earned only $41,000 at the box office this weekend.

This is based on 100 theaters, but the film is also available on iTunes.

But even with the limited release, $410 per screen is shockingly low, especially with this cast.

    $41,000 divided by 100 theaters = $410.00 per theater.
$410 divided by $14/ticket = 29 tickets sold per theater.
29 tickets divided by 3 days = 10 tickets per theater per day.
10 tickets divided by 2 showings per day = 5 tickets per showing.

Keep in mind that the $41K figure isn’t just the 100 theaters. This turd is already on streaming services as well, so the in theater income is even less that what’s shown above. Tommy Lee Jones and Woody Harrelson don’t work cheap, this thing wll never make that money back, nevermind other production costs.

For the 45 minutes or so that I watched FoxNews this morning, the only thing they spoke about was the summit between Trump and Putin. Breaking alerts of Putin’s plane landing, breaking alerts of Putin’s motorcade. Breaking alerts about Trump leaving his room/residence. Breaking alerts about the gamesmanship between the two and how Putin was late to the meeting, so therefore Trump had to be late as well. I guess that there is nothing else in the entire world worth covering, right?
FoxNews SUCKS, but they are better than all the rest except for OANN, which I have yet to find on comcast.

Jet lag finally took over yesterday, but I’m back up today feeling rested and rarin’ to go. First up, take out the trash, assuming that it’s not some holiday or another which seem to roll around about every other Monday for city workers. Hot and dry out here as usual, with the Sahara dust occluding the sun a little bit.
I flew United on my trip to and from Colorado, including a nice regional CJR700 from Denver to Montrose and back. I was prepared for the worst. Surprisingly, the people both coming and going were nice, polite, helpful; the flights were on time, and generally hassle free. The web site is not easy to navigate, purchasing tickets if virtually restricted to on line unless you want to pay extra, there are nickel and dime charges for everything imaginable, but I managed to sift through all that and still have a pleasant trip. So, as much as I might like to talk down United and complain about how difficult my trip was, I can’t. It took me longer to drive back to SS from Dallas than it did to get from Dallas to Montrose even factoring in a change of planes in Denver. No complaints. Oh, did I mention the foxy lady who sat next to me on the commuter from Montrose to Denver. Lives in Pittsburg, but we became instant friends – without benefits though.

From the “It has to be Commiefornia, dept” we have this:

HEADLINE: Chainsaw-Wielding Illegal Immigrant Was Deported a Stunning 11 Times
    /snip
The records on file for this man indicate he had a criminal history prior to this arrest. In 2013, he was charged with one count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, along with one count of using or being under the influence of a controlled substance.

He pleaded no contest to those charges, the Los Angeles Times reported. He also pleaded no contest to driving under the influence.

He should still have been in prison for:
    A) Being in the country illegally after having been deported numerous times before
    B) The multiple crimes he committed while here illegally.

How many Kate Steinles is it going to take before we lock up the criminal illegal aliens for decades at a time? How many times are we going to read about a criminal illegal alien, previously deported numerous times after having committed crimes here only to return and do it again before we impose severe penalties?

I went to have blood drawn today for a doc appointment later in the week.

He and I have a problem about cholesterol and statins. He “claims” to understand my low carb diet, yet tells me I can eat apples and other foods that would drive up my blood sugar numbers. As much as I love my doc, this may drive me to find a keto doctor in the area. There’s a guy putting together a list of keto-friendly doctors nationwide, and I may go to his list to find my new doctor.

I can deal with elevated cholesterol as long as my inflammation factors and blood sugar stay low. My doc has issues with that.

#15 – We stopped at surgeon’s office one day, and surgeon is satisfied with the way everything is working out. Released him back to cardiologist. He still has rapid pulse and some other irregular pulses, and she mentioned that cardiologist may want to “shock” him to restore regular order. Apparently it does take some time for things to return to normal after the invasion of the surgery but meds usually help it to straighten up after a bit. Overall, no real cause for alarm. He has lost a lot of retained fluid which shows up in the slimming of his ankles and fingers due to improved circulation, so I assume that things are working. But more importantly, one of his nurses had a “boot” on her foot. I asked her what happened and she said she had planter factitious which resulted in a stress fracture in her foot. I told her that story wasn’t fun enough, and she promised she would have a better story by the end of the day – I suggested that it might end with something like “and then he…”

My wife has been pre-diabetic since she birthed our last bundle of joy. That along with some other issues makes it really difficult to lose weight. She started a keto diet about 6 weeks ago and it is working quite well. She has already mentioned to her endocrine doc that she typically eats low carb. The doc has already told her to eat more vegetables instead of more meat. I think my wife is going to purposefully omit the fact that she is doing keto… oh, and did I mention that her doc is from the country of India. 🙂

A related story about doctors… the children’s pediatrician always told us to make sure they get 3 servings of milk every day. Every year she would inquire to the quantity. Then she would ask about the type of milk. We would respond with “whole milk”. Then the lecture would begin. You would think the world was going to end. It couldn’t be any more than 2%. Most children are fairly good about self regulating. Give them an extra 60 calories a day in the form of milk and more than likely they will consume less somewhere else.

Hubs gets his scrips at Walgreens and went there this morning to pick up a refill. He asked about Shingrix and they gave him the last one they had in stock. He said it cost $80. CVS charged me $40 for shot #1, 2 months ago.

The reason we have our scrips at different pharmacies is because the Medicare Part-D insurance we have is covered under a retirement benefit of mine, called a Health Reimbursement Account. The program administrator recommends which participating pharmacy has the lowest copay for our individual maintenance drugs. But if you need something that you don’t normally take, there’s no predicting what the copay will be at either of our primary pharmacies. I needed a pre-surgical scrip in May of last year, that was not covered by my Silverscript plan. I paid $220 out of pocket for the drug, but I was able to claim a reimbursement for the abnormal amount. My usual copays are like $4 or $5, Hubs cardiovascular drugs are more like $10 or $12, but we don’t usually claim those. Although it’s quite simple: scan of the pharmacy receipt is submitted online. Perhaps I’ll file a claim for his shingles shot today.

A related story about doctors… the children’s pediatrician always told us to make sure they get 3 servings of milk every day.

I remember our pediatrician asking about LD’s eating habits, then regaling us with a story about another patient.

It seems this couple had a little girl who’d eat nothing but Hormel canned chili. Hormel, nothing else, and she could tell the difference. Morning, noon, and night, that’s what this toddler ate. The parents were very concerned.

The doctor assured them this was temporary, and one day she’d wake up and decide Hormel chili was old news. “As long as a toddler gets about a cup of milk a day, he’ll be all right,” we were told. Fortunately, I never had to deal with picky eaters with my kids.

LD I nursed exclusively for six months. At her checkup, the doc said I could continue with what we were doing for LD was at 99% for height and weight and was thriving. If I wanted, I could start her on baby food. I decided to give the food a try, to see what would happen. I stopped by the store and got some carrots and a few other jars.

LD sat in her high chair, eagerly watching as I opened the carrots and began bouncing and weaving her head in excitement as the spoon approached her mouth. After a few unsuccessful jabs, I anticipated her next move and managed to unload a mouthful of carrots. She was delighted. We finished this procedure until the jar was empty.

I think half of the jar was on her cheeks. She looked like Bozo’s cute little niece, with the biggest grin on her face. I’d say she was more than ready.

58% of Democrats believe in UFOs, but only 32% are proud to be American. Only 37% of Republicans believe in flying saucers, but a full 80% are proud of their country.

    and,

45% of liberals believe in astrology. Only 23% are proud of America.

Three-quarters of Democrats believe that thoughts can influence the physical world. Over half believe in ghosts.

Almost a third of Democrats, twice as many as Republicans, believe in “spiritual energy”. 35% of liberals compared to 18% of conservatives are believers.

A fifth of Democrats fear the “evil eye”.

If you can name a superstition, knocking on wood, walking under ladders or stepping on a crack, polls show that Democrats are more likely to believe in it.

Democrats are 60% more likely to fear black cats than Republicans (so much for the anti-racist party) and 33% more likely to fear the number 13.

The rational and enlightened elite who want to make all our decisions are also 54% more likely to think that opening an umbrella indoors is bad luck.

“The project shows how big firms can exploit economies of scale offered by new technology and global markets. Companies with more orders can better shoulder upfront investments because each new unit produced will be less expensive. “Now we are aiming at increasing our level of automation significantly, when we really know the demand from the market and have the volumes to pay for it,” says Jerker Lessing, BoKlok’s director of research and development. “We benefit from Skanska being a global company.”

    Tank talk.

If you look head on at a T-90A you may notice the creepy “eyes” on the turret—a reliable method of distinguishing it from similar-looking modernized T-72s. These are actually infrared dazzlers designed to jam laser-targeting systems on missiles, and glow a terrifying red color when active. The dazzlers are just a component of the T-90’s Shtora-1 active protection system, which can also discharge smoke grenades that release an infrared-obscuring aerosol cloud. Shtora is integrated with a 360-degree laser-warning receiver which automatically triggers the countermeasures if the tank is painted by an enemy laser—and can even point the tank’s gun towards the origin of the attack. The T-90A’s second line of defense comes in the form of plates of Kontakt-5 explosive reactive armor, which was designed to detonate prior to a missile impact in order to disrupt the molten jet of its shaped-charge warhead and feed additional metal in its path.

Our pastures are full of Dallis grass in full bloom with sticky seed stalks to be knocked down. They leave a sticky mess on the mares’ legs and faces. Harvey’s waters must have made this pest grass grow like mad this year.

We see its tall seed stalks everywhere around the area including lawns of homes in Richmond, not just out here in the countryside and along roadsides. Can’t kill it with herbicides without killing the rest of the grasses in the pastures. Anyway don’t want to spray the pastures if there was something that would kill it and leave the rest alone out of concern what effect that might have on the horses.

As if the murders were not bad enough…

They say they believe he is connected to this case, a murder at a Mattress Firm off 1960, a murder at a home in Cypress, an *****aggregated assault***** against a Lift Metro Bus driver and a home invasion back on July 9th.
