A student who offended by wearing a pro-border wall t-shirt to school is suing.

Good for him.

His teachers are snowflakes. He’s the torch. Melt some libs, I say!

“An Oregon high school student is suing his school, saying it violated his First Amendment rights when it suspended him for wearing a Trump T-shirt.

The student, 18-year-old Addison Barnes, told FOX 12 that he was asked to cover up a T-shirt he was wearing that said “Donald J. Trump Construction Co.” on it, or leave school. The shirt also included a Trump quote: “The wall just got 10 feet taller.”

According to KGW, Barnes wore the shirt to his People and Politics class at Liberty High School in Hillsboro in January, and he told the TV outlet he knew they’d be discussing immigration in class that day.

The school official who pulled Barnes out of class to ask him to cover the shirt also told him at least one student and one teacher had been offended by the shirt, The Associated Press reported.”

“I decided, you know this isn’t right,” he told the TV station. “I have my First Amendment, and it’s not right what they’re doing.”

He removed the covering, so officials sent a security guard to the classroom to remove Barnes, who was told to cover his shirt or go home for the rest of the day, according to The Associated Press.”

I can sympathize with this student, but I am very much a proponent of school uniforms through high school. They automatically eliminate so many problems.

Private schools don’t have to deal with the dress code violations and inappropriate clothing like a kid coming to school everyday in the South Texas heat wearing a trench coat.

Man, I had a hard time going to sleep last night. I had to use all the emotional restraint I could muster on that “experienced contractor” .

I didn’t even realize until this morning that she called me sexist, assuming that I was giving her a hard time because she was a woman. I wasn’t giving her a hard time, and I don’t care what kind of plumbing any person has when it comes to my work. If you ask me a question that a contractor would know, I’m going to assume you’re not a contractor and go from there with my explanations.

And the fact that she started becoming hysterically anxious only reinforced my feelings about someone not comfortable in that milieu. An experienced contractor would have known the score on what kind of work was involved and straightened me out on the facts early on.

As much as I tried to let it go, being called stupid and being insulted for a situation she created really ginned up my stress level. I’m proud that I was able to keep my side of the street clean and not toss it back in her face.

It’s because I don’t want to be like her, and she has no basis for bad mouthing us for insulting her in return.

She’s the kind of person who, in our experience, can screw up replacing a light bulb, even with a manual and supervision.

The young man is absolutely correct to sue the school and he should include personally, the teacher, the principal and the superintendant of the district. The dollar amount should necessarily be high, perhaps in the 7 figures, so that the punishment for blatant civil rights violations is severe and serves as a clear warning to others NOT to engage in same. Unless and until these braying jack-sses get hammered and hard, this garbage will continue.

Morning gang. Some cloud cover here this morning expected to burn off as the sun rises higher in the sky. My varmits always check for scraps where I put my left overs every day. Yesterday’s chicken bones were taken by a pair of roadrunners. They are not nocturnal, so they were wide awake and on the hunt when the bones appeared, so nobody else got a shot at them. My guess would be that the birds picked at the soft tissue and then somebody else eventually got the bone. Need to have a squamous cell carcinoma removed next month from my neck. First one of those that I’ve had to deal with, but apparently they are pretty common. Nothing else to report this morning. You all have a great day.

Then pro-liberal shirts should also be banned. I’d like to see a count of how many anti-gun, pro-Obama, antifa type shirts are worn in the school.

  17. El Gordo Avatar

Liberals, through the teachers’ union, own the public schools. Get over it. Sending your child to a public school is just another form of child abuse. You just pay your ever rising property taxes for ever increasing school costs and then shut up. That’s how it works. And what makes it even worse is that every time a bond issue for schools pops up, compassionate people all over scream about the need to take care of the children. Until the current public school system is started over from scratch, there is no need to complain about what’s going on in the schools.

Good morning Hamsters. We have rain in the forecast again today and got quite a gully washer yesterday afternoon, leaving over an inch in the gauge within an hour. Our dry pastures are nicely watered by three days that brought showers. Lawn sprinklers are turned off for the time being.

Our misplaced bird nest atop a cabinet in the garage must still hold babies, as momma bird keeps bringing food to the nest. We haven’t climbed up on a stepladder to peek into the nest, but surely at least one baby must still be alive if momma comes with food regularly. Had been keeping the people door to the garage open at night, but birds do sleep at night, and the open door might just invite a nocturnal hunter. Have to rethink this arrangement and just leave the door open in daytime.

  19. Tedtam Avatar

One of the restrooms at our church offices used to have an angel trumpet tree with branches right up next to its window. One year a pair of doves decided to nest next to the glass, and gave us an up-close view of the eggs and the babies as they grew.

Then there was the mockingbird who kept attacking one of the windows. He must’ve been seeing his reflection in the tint.

    For weeks.

Trump walks away from talks with the Norks. This is a great move. Read his letter. Rocket Man gains world stature just by being on the same stage with the POTUS, regardless of what is said or done. Trump on the other hand gains nothing unless he extracts concessions from RM. RM starts trying, prior to the meeting, to gain concessions, and Trump says in effect – you need me more than I need you. Now, the only way this gets back on track is for RM to come back, hat in hand, to try patching things up. Trump has won, any way you look at it. RM can sit over there in hermitland and stew in his own juices all he wants, but he lost. He thought Trump was anxious to make a deal and would concede something. Nope, no concessions, and BTW, get lost. But, if you, Mr. RM are willing to crawl back on your hands and knees begging forgiveness, I might consider it. Great letter, and great move. Trump – 1; RM – 0 (maybe even -1).

I agree – those who have been falsely accused of abuse should have restitution and the perps need to be punished. Abuse accusations – whether it be child or sexual -are crimes from which it is hard to recover. Jobs lost, reputations destroyed, and even when acquitted the stench from the accusation lingers.

As former Speaker Tom Foley once said “It not the fact of the case that matter, it’s the seriousness of the charge.” That about says is all for justice in America these days. College campus accusations of sexual assault crimes are the worst, where the defendant is not allowed to face his accuser, is often not even told what the charges are, is unable to have legal representation, and is railroaded out with witnesses. Thanks Obama.

Loved that commercial and recall seeing lots of them at one time or another in the 50s. Back in those days Westinghouse was a very good brand. The first fridge we owned after we moved here in 1969 was a Westinghouse. It retired at age 29 in favor of a new fridge, still running but it wasn’t self defrosting and so had to give up its place to one that was.

Canadian beaches are closed due to some fun-loving pranks from those Lutherans we’re so fond of.

Two shores of lakes north of Toronto were closed to visitors after broken glass bottles, nails, and needles were found strewn about. Some bottles were buried in the ground with the jagged edges deliberately facing up.

Ontario police are investigating the affair and it is not known who is responsible for distributing dangerous objects on beaches.

A letter was sent a few weeks ago to a local newspaper with a message from the “Revolutionary Islamic Force” claiming responsibility for sabotaging beaches north of Toronto and warning that similar operations would be carried out on other beaches throughout and north of Toronto.

The letter notes the motive for the action is Canada’s refusal to embrace Islam and continued following of the “Great Satan,” the United States.

“Infidels, you allow your women to walk on the beach naked and disgraceful. Your women are prostitutes,” the letter said, threatening to destroy tourist sites, attack people, carry out attacks on trains, poison drinking water, and burn forests. The letter recommends that Canadian citizens convert to Islam and follow the dictates of Muhammad.

I’m pretty sure that it is settled law that public schools can tell children what they can and cannot wear and set grooming standards.

That’s not the point. Public school districts don’t enforce the regulations for which they have been duly authorized by federal courts. They just put up with a rolling, daily crisis of profane, disgusting, politicized, sexualized and/or dope related crap that kids wear to schools and have to fight the idiot parents, the stone-cold stupid kids and their accomplices in the public.

If it takes uniforms to make a great stride towards depoliticizing the daily life of public high schools in America, I think it would be stupid to do otherwise.

You know, you don’t see or hear about this bullsh*t at Catholic or Jewish schools.

I agree with school uniforms simply because it clears the mind to some degree, not so much concern over whether you are wearing all the trendiest clothes. I think I would have done better in school if I hadn’t spent so much time deciding what to wear the next day. I did fine in school, but I could have done better.

Excellent news, and I hope such activity is pretty much spread all over the Houston area. Does this flurry of offers and sales appear to be spread over a wide range of home sizes and neighborhoods?

A dear friend who lives in Houston on a street between Belfort and Hillcroft in Westbury keeps getting unsolicited offers on her home either by leaving messages in her mailbox or by phone calls. Some agents even ring her doorbell. Of note is that her home did not flood from Harvey although a couple of doors down homes did, and the area was affected that far away from Brays Bayou.

We’ve gotten several unsolicited offers by postcard to buy our place as is from different agents in Houston, and I suppose others in our area have also. Don’t know if they think because Harvey hit many places on the north side of the Brazos that they are assuming most every address did and want to buy out such properties. Also would bet they have never actually seen the places they are soliciting but just throwing darts at a dartboard.

Mowers need oil? My mower, circa 2010, is running tip top. Last year I replaced the coil with a used one obtained on Amazon; this year I had to replace the little diaphragm that sits under the carburetor. Oh, and I did put in a new air filter last year. Starts on the first pull and runs like a top. The pusher (me) has slowed down though. I was thinking about mowing today, but I decided to run the irrigation system instead. Summer’s here in case you hadn’t noticed. I’m already preparing for hurricanes, except that I’m 300 miles from the coast. Oh well, you can never be too prepared. Have a great day you all.
