NEW YORK – 1961: Actress Audrey Hepburn poses for a publicity still for the Paramount Pictures film ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ in 1961 in New York City, New York. (Photo by Donaldson Collection/Michael Ochs Archives/Getty Images)

The story of their meeting is fashion lore: A young Audrey, fresh off her film debut in 1953’s “Roman Holiday,” requests a meeting with the young Parisian designer.

He, thinking Ms. Hepburn is the American actress Katharine, excitedly agrees. He is disappointed when in walks a sylph in cigarette pants and a T-shirt.

According to Givenchy’s obituary Tuesday in the New York Times (he died Saturday at age 91), the designer told Hepburn he was far too busy.

“I was in the middle of making my second collection, and I didn’t have too many workers then,” he said.

But they had dinner. He was won over.

“I told her, ‘I will do anything for you.’ ”

Theirs was a lifelong friendship of generous reciprocity.  In their careers, he made her and she made him.

From the first moment Hepburn appeared on-screen as Holly, the Little Black Dress became the Great Equalizer. Before that, elegance and glamour were reserved for the rich and famous; if you saw a Hollywood star in a magazine or on the red carpet, she was doubtless wearing something the average woman couldn’t afford.

But! A sleeveless little black dress, tailored properly — that, the average woman could afford. It was the height of chic yet it democratized fashion. No one can tell how much money you have — or don’t — in a good little black dress.

Nice work, Hubert.

Morning troubadours. Still wondering how those people in Flarada spent $15 million to erect a pedestrian bridge over a street so that people would not have to wait at the light to cross. Of course, the bridge didn’t make it a week, but it was going to look real pretty, and that’s what was important. A landmark, a meeting spot, an engineering marvel, etc. You would think they were going to build a new skyscraper, or at least a super Walmart. In the old days, bridges and tunnels, and in some cases public transportation served to provide a short cut to connect viable economic areas which were obstructed from each other in order to facilitate trade and provide economic improvements. Now days they are built to export crime from the hood to neighboring communities. The hoodlums can ride the train to the burbs, take care of their burglaries and looting activities, and be back home in the hood in time for their shift on the drug corner. All thanks to public transportation, bridges, and tunnels. Apparently the group building the bridge had input from all the local dignitaries, the school, the cities, the county, Fla transportation, US Dept of Transportation, the local garden club, etc. By the time everyone was done, they built what would be a beautiful structure to satisfy everyone’s input except for the guys who wanted it to be there for a few years. Really, didn’t last a week. In a Dem stronghold. Imagine that.

If you are sick and tired of professors indoctrinating students in politicized classes that teach nothing of any use in real life, and hate the idea that tenure immunizes them from accountability, the next decade or so is going to provide some relief. The reckoning is coming, as shocked professors at a University of Wisconsin campus just discovered. The higher education bubble that Professor Glenn Reynolds of Instapundit has forecast to burst has just popped in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.

Now that public schools are turning out graduates who can’t begin to perform at college levels and the higher education industry has reduced the humanities to re-education camps for authoritarian trainees a la the Red Guard, there’s no reason to pretend anymore our universities aren’t being reduced to overpriced vocational schools. Antonio Gramsci preached the “cultural hegemony” of turning our institutions into brainwashing institutes for the Marxist working classes and that’s what they’ve done.

These factors enabled many disciplines not anchored in the hard sciences to drift off into political correctness territory, teaching subjects like homoerotic imagery in Shakespeare and other obsessive concerns of the left. As result, enrollment in politicized humanities and social sciences departments has fallen, as students motivated by jobs have focused on more utilitarian courses.

Of course they don’t care. This is the same group of leeches that consented to raising the debt ceiling so many times that they finally just did away with it. This is the same group that yawns in the face of an $82 Trillion dollar Social Security/Medicare deficit over the next thirty years.

There’s going to be prison time for some and at least one judge, Rudy Contreras, is going to lose his bench.

HEADLINE: REVEALED: Peter Strzok Had Personal Relationship With Recused Judge In Michael Flynn Case

MARCH 16, 2018 By Mollie Hemingway

Newly discovered text messages obtained by The Federalist reveal two key federal law enforcement officials conspired to meet with the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) judge who presided over the federal case against Michael Flynn. The judge, Rudolph Contreras, was recused from handling the case just days after accepting the guilty plea of President Donald Trump’s former national security adviser who was charged with making false statements to federal investigators.

The text messages about Contreras between controversial Department of Justice lawyer Lisa Page and Peter Strzok, the top Federal Bureau of Investigation counterintelligence official who was kicked off Robert Mueller’s special counsel team, were deliberately hidden from Congress, multiple congressional investigators told The Federalist. In the messages, Page and Strzok, who are rumored to have been engaged in an illicit romantic affair, discussed Strzok’s personal friendship with Contreras and how to leverage that relationship in ongoing counterintelligence matters.

This is as far as I have gotten in the article. The stench of this corruption has become indescribable.

Anybody think Sessions has the cajones to actually fire McCabe. I don’t. I think he’s too deeply embedded in the swamp to actually make any waves. To rapidly drain the swamp (FBI/DOJ portion), fire McCabe, strip him of assets, and file criminal charges to eat up whatever other assets he may have. Then, offer an early retirement plan to all vested senior officials, with the understanding that if they do not take the deal, they will become subjects of inquiry, and if anything turns up, they will get the McCabe treatment. The rats would jump and take the deal in an instant, and voila, swamp drained. Now there would probably be a few holdouts, but that could serve to keep the plan front and center as periodically, another would receive the McCabe treatment with all the attendant publicity the department could muster. Just my $.02.

Rip Van Sessions will fire no one because he is asleep.

He gets up, goes to work and drinks a ZzzzQuil laced mint julep, mixed with coffee for breakfast and then sleeps for 8 hours with his head on his desk.

He then goes home with a big red spot on his forehead and his wife asks “how was your day honey?” to which Rip replies. I recuse myself from answering any of your questions.

He then goes upstairs and nods off again for another 8 hours.
    Repeat 24/7/365.

Look how tough he got with that Oakland mayor. Instead of arresting her for a real case of obstruction of justice he says ” how dare you endanger lives just to promote your open borders agenda”

Max has had some problems keeping his weight up. For several years, our vet has been carrying Fromm Family Pet Food out of Mequon, Wisconsin. So, we’re trying it out, mixing a little in with his usual Pro-Plan.

German immigrants in the 1850’s, the Fromms have a very interesting early family history with roots in the raising of Silver Foxes, Dairy, and growing ginseng for export. They were also responsible for creating and marketing the first fox encephalitis vaccine, fox distemper vaccine, canine distemper vaccine, and feline distemper vaccine — utilizing attenuated viruses developed through their research work with ferrets.

    https://frommfamily.com/about/our-history/

Interestingly the first ingredient in the adult dog food is duck. And, shockingly, this designer dog food is cheaper than the Purina Pro Plan.

Texas isn’t exactly commercial duck production country. It never even occurred to me that somewhere there would be massive duck house production facilities like we have around here for chickens.

What a wonderful history of mainly two families from Germany and how they prospered in Wisconsin by hard work and initiative. Columbus is not far from Madison.

I had not known of the company when we lived in Madison or likely spouse’s brother who lives in the Madison area doesn’t either. But perhaps he does, since over the years several of their dogs have had dietary problems. Hope the Fromm feed agrees with Max and makes him happy.

Now let’s see if anyone else wants to come forward and play “Let’s make a deal” with FBI and DOJ. Hopefully, by the time they are through with McCabe, he, just like Flynn, will be dead broke and will be facing a judge with a guilty plea in hand. A few of those other weasels may be taking a look at all this and talking with their own counsel about some things. The pucker factor may be pretty acute this weekend around some households, so if you see someone stand up from his chair and the seat cushion is stuck to his butt, you’ll know what’s going on. And over in the courthouse too with some of those judges.

I notice in McCabe’s statement, he’s saying Trump is afraid of Mueller and that’s what this is all about. Obviously, he cannot defend himself of any charges whatever they may be, so the Mueller thing is a handy diversion. It’s a plea for the Dems to take him under their wing and run interference for him, which they will probably do; but it also exposes Mueller when the actual fact come out. Whatever McCabe did has no relation to Mueller, and Mueller may not want that tar baby wrapped around his neck. Maybe Comey will take him in.
