Monday “Where ARE You!?” Open Comments

I meant to check last night to see if an OC thread had been set up for this morning…but I was actually making progress on my paperwork and didn’t want to stop my momentum.

I hear TBO will be sounding somewhat Republican at his State of the Union Speech tomorrow night. This begs a few questions:
1) Really? I mean – really? Does he actually have the chutzpah to do this? Oh, I forgot who we’re talking about…
2) Why do the pundits begin dissecting his speech before he gives it? Who gives them the speech beforehand?
3) WHY is the speech leaked to media beforehand?
4) Do we really believe what he says?
5) Let’s set up a pool: How many RFU’s will we see during the speech?

I think I know the answers to some of these questions, but I know that the responses from this crowd are well worth gathering.

I will not be able to watch the foul “O” defile the airwaves with his speech; something FAR MORE IMPORTANT is scheduled – I have the privilege of reading Scripture to the residents at the old folks home in Tomball. I may get a wild hair and set the machine to record the speech, but I would rather just read the breakdown here on Wed Morn.

Bob420 made and interesting observation on yesterday’s thread about impairment vs BAC. Let me open by stating that I DO NOT ENDORSE DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED. I would like to point out however, that blood alcohol content is just that, a measure of alcohol in one’s blood, IT DOES NOT MEASURE IMPAIRMENT. The same blood alcohol, .08 for example, will dramatically impair some and not have any effect on others; further, on different days the same BAC will produce different levels of impairment in the same person. We need to look at BAC as an arbitrary number that really does not tell us that much, it makes more sense to better train the cops and let them use some discretion, like Bob’s neighbor.

Here’s the SOTUS. Except for the first one, its the same one we’ve been hearing since Nixon was president:

    • I’d like to give a shout-out to Gabrielle Giffords. Can I get a whup-whup???
    • We must reduce dependence on foreign energy sources
    • We must create jobs
    • We must reduce the federal deficit
    • Can’t we all just get along?

There. I just saved you an hour and a half of your time Tuesday night.

Where else but Free Republic would you find a nutjob like this.

I would prefer military government to the corrupt and pretentious “free” government we now suffer under. At least the military would jail—or otherwise eliminate—the reprobates that are causing our decline. Bring it on. I will support it emphatically!

I would actively assist the imposition of military discipline on this country, since far too many Americans are lazy jackasses, who want a free ride at the expense of others. WORK OR DIE! That should be the national motto!

America is in serious short supply of discipline. Military rule would fix our problems in a heartbeat: WORK OR DIE! Real simple. The military would declare open season on the liberal thieves, as a practical matter. “Imagine no more liberals … it’s easy, if you try… No Reid or Pelosi… We’ll send them off to die”

Second target on the agenda—after the military jails the 545 corrupt A-holes now occupying office…

The elimination of the thousands of useless bureaucrats… and after them, the lawyers, judges and university professors will all be shown the meaning of “manual labor”

Then we could eliminate the media, which really needs to go the way of the dinosaur. They are as useless as tits on a bull. We have internet, we do not need the sh*thead primadonnas of the press

Military government? Bring it on. I can hardly wait!

At first I thought the poster was joking, then I read some of his other stuff. He’s the real deal, and exactly the type of insane idiot that would try to assassinate a politician, or open fire in church merely because political differences.

The only thing that will save America is a bloody civil war. Because, as long as the enemy lives, even if out of power, they will continue to threaten our liberties. So, it really does come down to literal survival—us or them… and I have no problem eliminating “them” from the equation—permanently.

    And then there’s this:

I will have both the Rosary AND the the steel blade of a broad sword. The time is upon us to deal with our corrupt leaders in the most definite of terms.

I would have no remorse at cleaving such scoundrels straight through to the marrow. Such end is fitting to their kind, and one which they fully deserve.

The unflinching stroke of the Knight’s broad sword is the only true justice for these reprobate creatures.

#26 Bob: As distasteful as it is, the guy you quote is probably correct; it will take a bloody civil war to get this country back on the right track.
Problem #1) Law schools and the judges that eventually come from them who promote the falsehood that the Constitution is a living breathing document that magically changes its meaning to fit the times/whims of the judge (this is hardcore leftwing socialist/communist BS) created the mess we are in; instead of it being taught as specifically designed to LIMIT THE POWER OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT .
    A) The result is that we no longer have “rule of law” as now the law means what ever the judge says it means. See Marbury v Madison
    B) If the judge is a lefty commie terdnozzle like most of the D party, he can advance that agenda by decree and not by consent of the people or the rule of law because the rule of law no longer exists.
    C) the judges can rule that there are “rights” in the Constitution that do not exist, like the “right” to an abortion, or ignoring the rights that are clearly listed, like the right to keep and bear arms.
Problem #2) The vote is open to everyone and there is very little control/enforcement to limit voter fraud.
    A) If you are on Govt Assistance you should lose your right to vote as you have an obvious and glaring conflict of interest. When the constitution was written, there was no govt assistance and you had to be a property owner to vote. These restrictions forced the individual voter to consider how the candidates position would affect him personally and how it would affect the community as well as the country. If is good for the individual but bad for the community/country it will eventually be bad for the individual as well. The founders understood this and that is why the property owner clause was there; those owning property tended to be much more responsible.
    B) IF there is no valid photo ID requirement, there is no control over the integrity of the vote and it begs for fraud. When you set up a system that is ripe for fraud you will reap fraudulent activity. This is a huge disadvantage to the responsible as they also tend to be law abiding. The lawless scum who would defraud the vote are overwhelmingly on the left and promote the above. I submit that if the voter rolls were purged NATIONWIDE and everybody had to re-register, in person with valid photo ID and you had to produce valid photo ID to vote, the D’s would never win another election.

#35 Bones, I have some doubts that our country, as dependent as it is on modern massively scaled agricultural technology and the crucial transportation infrastructure required to get food from the fields and pastures to the marketplace could survive another bloody all out civil war without utter chaos, massive loss of life, and a breakdown of civil society itself.

I hope it doesn’t come to that. In the days of the founders as well as in the mid 1800’s, most food was grown or raised fairly locally. This is not the case in the 21st century.

It is common knowledge red wine is a great elixir for good health. But I bet you didn’t know it could do this:

When they tested the resulting materials for superconductivity, they found that the ones soaked in commercial booze came out ahead. About 15 percent of the material became a superconductor for the water mixed with ethanol, and less for the pure water. By comparison, Shochu jacked up conductivity by 23 percent and red wine managed to supercharge over 62 percent of the material. The scientists were pleased, if bemused with their results.

It is common knowledge red wine is a great elixir for good health. But I bet you didn’t know it could do this:

He believed what he promoted, and practiced what he preached. He was a strong man in more ways than one.

and said, “Please don’t jump. Think of your dear mother and father.”

He replied, “My mom and dad are both dead; I’m going to jump.”

It’s funny how I point out similarities between a couple of violently paranoid nutjobs who murdered people, and a homophobic fruitcake freeper, that thinks all libs, RINOs, and gays should be killed, and even wants the country to be run by a fascist military regime, and some of y’all say I have a “war on conservatism” and wallow in “hate speech.”

I have no problem with conservatism. I’m tolerant of both wings of the political bird while agreeing fully with neither. I am intolerant of violence and authoritarianism.

Wow, a direct attack on a “conservastive” and the attack on liberalism is akin to conservative crazies. Mark down bob as a repetative king of unoriginality. (Psssst, Huffpost)

Incidently, conservatism preserves freedom so I don’t know how to classify the person(s) bob pointed out other than very far-right fringe. Why bob places direct attacks exclusively on conservatives and then gets wee weed up when accused of attacking conservatives and conservatism is beyond my logic other than to bob, letting people do what they want with drugs and sex proclamations is the defining point of authoritarianism and conservatives happen to qualify as the loosers in bob’s mind. It’s not factual, but neither is bob.

Two Cajuns, Boudreaux and Thibodeaux, were adrift in a lifeboat. While rummaging through the boat’s provisions, Boudreaux stumbled across an old lamp. He rubbed the lamp vigorously and a genie came forth.. This genie, however, stated that he could only deliver one wish, not the standard three.

Boudreaux immediately blurted out, ‘Turn the entire ocean into Budweiser beer!

The genie clapped his hands with a deafening crash, and immediately the sea turned into beer and the genie vanished.

Only the gentle lapping of beer on the hull broke the stillness as the two men considered their circumstances.

Thibodeaux looked disgustedly at Boudreaux whose wish had been granted.
