Monday Hopeful Open Comments

I was reading my Bible and devotionals this morning, and there seems to be a confluence:

John 14:18 “I will not leave your orphans; I will come to you.”

Devotional: “During difficult times it is critical that we are walking in fellowship with other Christians. When a crisis hits, it is overwhelming to face it alone. But if we have cultivated supportive friendships, we will find strength in the comfort and encouragement of those who care about us. Interdependence is also a safeguard for us when we are lured by temptation…You must link your life with others who are seeking God’s will. Seek to be a person who willingly joins others in carrying out God’s assignments. Strive to be the source of support and encouragement that those around you need.”

Devotional: “If my mind is clouded by nameless dreads, I will track them down and expose their unreality. I will remind myself that God is in charge of me and mine and that I have only to accept His protection and guidance.”

64 Shannon I was so disgusted when I walked onto a Ford lot recently and saw a loaded 1/2 ton for $51,800 that I swore I would never buy another new pickup again. It’s obscene. These vehicles today are so ridiculously overpriced, like homes, that I’ve sworn off all of them. It wouldn’t matter how much money I have, I… Read more »

I couldn’t even get a laugh out of you-know-who when I said I was going to jump on a Black Friday deal on a $58,700 half ton pickup. I guess I’ll pack up my tent and hammock and go on home.

I so want to play the angry oilfield spouse role, three AM in the morning sitting legs crossed, leg swinging …. but alas, my new occupation of the last 25 years, construction, has it’s own crises to deal with starting at seven so I must sleep.

48 Shannon Members of the greatest generation are leaving us ever more quickly. I was very fond of this lady. We had a special relationship. My son is home on his days off from the oilfields. They called today asking if he could pick up some parts in Houston and deliver them out to the site south of San Antonio, they’d pay him four hundred bucks so he went for it. Mom decided she wanted to tag along. Well the oilfield goes as the oilfield… Read more »

I’m struggling with the Islamic Refugee situation, as a Christian and an American. Both tug at my insides to open our arms. Part of pulling back from the political camps is you gotta make your own decisions. The article brings in some good history and thought.

Problem is, if you study them long enough you discover half the Catholics revere Aquinas, half don’t, and the other half never heard of him.

Hannity is interviewing a Jewish US reporter who went to Turkey and joined a group of Syrian moslem refugees waiting to be transported by boat to Greece with the intent to go to Germany. The fiction that the majority of refugees are women and children is absolute garbage he says. More like 80% were men age 15-50 without families in… Read more »

I have similar experience with HP, though only once since I bought a new one. Similar experience with HP downloads too which are always full of extraneous crappola. I have had to dispense with using any kind of shortcuts for the printer/scanner and go the longer route through Programs sometimes, too.
