First? Well that is enough internet for me today.
We turned on the floor for the first time this morning. I’m glad this isn’t the year we have to replace the electronic switch, which we’ve been told will need replacing every few years.
Good Morning and Shabbat Shalom, Y’all.
We got a pretty good rain this morning and it is still coming down.

I have mixed emotions.
There is something deeply unsettling about Squawk’s image in #1.
Things are changing, perhaps this will get the popo to focus on real crime reduction.
I would much rather the cops be focused on catching terrorists and illegal aliens than those who wish to get high.
#1: “I just feel conflicted today”
Re: My #1
That is just Sikh
Wind is picking up, and what rain there was this morning is reduced to drizzle and mist. Or mizzle and drist. Temp was 66 at 6 and hasn’t started to plunge yet.
Agree with #5 mharper42’s assessment of Squawk’s #1.
I’m just not myself today

I sent the link via FB to my sister-in-law, who’s Muslim and very liberal. She believed Trump said the bit about the registry and was threatening to leave the country.

Don’t let the door hit you on the arse. A lib mooslime gone is a good thing, although it would likely painful for your brother and their kids.
Gamze is actually a gentle soul and is opposed to the violence. She may be horribly mistaken in her views, but she is entitled to them. I’d be happy to have a million like her and know that they’re all like her than a million other libs like Black Lives Matter.
The BLM crowd are nothing but future domestic terrorists.
Gamze is actually a gentle soul and is opposed to the violence.
Perhaps she can influence others to reject the violence that the koran contains, ordains and commands.
I could do with a wash. . .
but the vacuum thing sucks. . . .
I’m pretty sure I can still get someone around here to wash and vacuum me for free.
And Sarge can probably get you a discount at The Gate.

By “around here”, I hope you mean Chez Shannon, and not Hamsterville. ™
Clouds have cleared out, sunshine is bright, and the wind keeps getting stronger.
Temp hasn’t begun to tank yet and went up to 68. Not much more than a little very light rain here with the front. And that’s ok since we didn’t need any.
IMHO – there are LOTS of peace loving Muslims in this world.
BUT (aint there always a ‘but’ ?)
If they espouse peace but REFUSE any less than total, public, and ACTIVE condemnation of the extremist versions – then they are part of the PROBLEM and NOT the solution

Interestingly, in between two IRS scam calls, the local Sheriff’s Dept utilized the County emergency alert system to advise residents of IRS scam calls, yesterday.
The only call from the IRS I should get is an acknowledgement of their appreciation.
Here’s one for you Brother Squawk.
Well, my wife’s last uncle on her mother’s side passed away this week at 94, so she loaded up and headed off to Alabama about 6 AM, taking the girls with her. We’re heading up to the deer camp after Thanksgiving so I got up and made a pot of Bambi chili to take up there. It sure is smelling good, I’ll have a bowl tonight and probably take some to work. Good stuff Maynard…..It sure is quiet around here, I’m missing my Lil’ Girl.
๐
Didn’t you NOT want to keep that dog way back years ago, when your wife found it abandoned and discarded?
Yeah, that’s what I thought I remembered.

Nails it.
Iโll have a bowl tonight
Well of course. Gotta make sure it’s okay. ๐
#34, Yup,…sadly she is still pretty psychotic, but she has always thought that she was/is MY dawg, and dang there is no way that you couldn’t love that little gazelle legged thing. The good news is that she hasn’t bit the wife in a while and likes to ride with her in the Tahoe,….not as much as she likes ridding the Beast though. ๐
Well of course. Gotta make sure itโs okay.
Yup, food taster, it’s a tough, thankless job, but somebody’s got to do it. ๐
Went to the gym to get my bag, which I accidentally left there yesterday. Then I went to Wal-Mart to start my Christmas dinner shopping. I pulled out flyers for the price matching, and got onions for 25 cents/pound, the ground beef for about $2 less than the WM price, same for the ground pork. I’ll be chopping and freezing the onions for the marinara later, when I get the rest of the ingredients. Then I went to go see Mom, since I only got a few minutes with her yesterday before they took her for physical therapy. We had a good visit, but not being able to use her arm is distressing for her. Crystal, the wonder nurse, showed up. (I need to remember to write an orchid letter to the administration extolling her excellent care of Mom so it will go into her record.)
Then I went to the Restore Store, the Habitat for Humanity building materials place. I think I found something I need for a project. Left there to go see my favorite aunt, who was taken to the ER yesterday. It turns out that she was left with a hernia after surgery to fix an aortic aneurysm. It runs in our family, and has killed my grandpa and one of my uncles. She had some kind of obstruction in or around the hernia. She was doing much better tonight, and we also had a nice visit.
I came home, fixed my dinner, and finally turned the floor on. It was getting a little chilly.
Time to chop onions….
Onions foe .25/lb is a fargin steal. Youay have to go to confession for that one.
Sometimes it’s good to live on the cheap side of town and get flyers from los mercados.
Gonna be upper 30s out here on the moors of the Brazos tonight. Just sliding down through 50 now, and the wind’s died down to a breeze. The air is crisp and fresh as only a norther can bring.
Brother-in-law sent pictures of the 5″ snowfall Madison had overnight, and it does look like winter up there. It will mostly melt in the 40s early next week and rain for them also on Thanksgiving, but the Arctic blast they will get a day or so before we do will put them back into winter fast. Us also. Gets us in the mood for Christmas decorating.
TT, you were shopping for Christmas dinner already? Or did you mean Thanksgiving?
We’ve decided to go to Luby’s for Thanksgiving.
I meant Christmas. We make many pounds of lasagna for Christmas, and I’m pre-cooking as much as I can so I can enjoy my family on the big day. I’m going to try to fix the lasagna and freeze it several weeks ahead of time.
Down to 48 here as we hang it up for the night.
Chicago had a record for the day 16″ of snow last night and today. That makes for a really big mess with snow removal already.
A cool 40 degrees here in Clear Lake.
Mornin’ Gang
time to layer up for another young HERO!
40 degrees aint a problem with the proper gear!

Weโve decided to go to Lubyโs for Thanksgiving.
Good move. I wanted to go to Kelly’s in LaMargue got outvoted by my sister in law.
Katfish – stay safe and do what you do!
God bless you guys!
I believe I’ve had my first “unfriend” on FB – my sis-in-law seems to have cut me off. I pointed out to her that Trump’s statement had been misquoted, that she was free to hate him if she wished for whatever reason she wished, but at least hate him for ideology and not based on incorrect quotes. I pointed out that the MSM had done something similar to the Zimmerman 911 call and see what resulted from that.
This morning, I can’t seem to connect to her page….go figger.
Good afternoon Hamsters. Beautiful if chilly day, 51 on the front porch and breezy again though nothing like yesterday afternoon.
‘Twas 36 here this morning at 6:30 and a lively walk to and from the barn and down to fetch the Chron. Had to pull out a jacket for the trip and now have it hanging by the back door next to spouse’s winter vest. Was inspired to finally dig out all of my winter duds rather than bringing them out piecemeal.
Texans lead the Jets 10-3 at the half. Good start.
I’ve been saying for years that TJ Yates needed to be brought back.
I had to go to shorts. The floor was on all last night and until about 10:30. It’s still radiating heat and I got a little too warm.
And my firestarters worked a little too well. Have to wait for the fire to go down a bit.
Yea for the Texans. Another win.
I had to run by work today to get something out of my desk, coming down Saturn, when I went over the overpass for Space Center Houston, a huge 12 point buck with two dropped tines crossed in front of me heading to the Longhorn Exhibit. He had his nose in the air and was walking briskly, paying no attention to me. I had slowed down to get a picture but he sailed over the guard rail and was gone. Leaving my building, I noticed a whole herd of does just off Linkage Rd and a big 8 pointer crossing the road to eat acorns at one of their favorite spots. I took a couple of pictures but only one was very good.

It’s going to be significantly colder in the Coastal Bend of Texas than here in Baghdad on the Hudson tomorrow morning.
Well, maybe not that much colder, but the fact it’s going to be 60 here on Thanksgiving is amazing.
Why is SD stealing NASA secrets on the weekend?
Sorting through 13 years of saved First Things journals, plus City Journal, American Interest, Texas Monthly, Hoover Institute journals and various other periodicals. I’m not a pack rat, but it’s really hard to let go of some that stuff. I know it’s all archived online, but it’s not the same.
Most satisfying victory for the Packers tonight, 30-13 and tied 7-3 with the Vikings but at the top of the division heap because they just beat the Vikings.

You’d be a packrat had you saved every issue of those publications regardless of what they contained. Nothing wrong with selectively saving stuff. ๐

Her Highness threw down the gauntlet on my pile after, of course, I did the same on a much larger pile of her stuff. She had to find a way to return the pain.

Going to have a freeze out here tomorrow morning. Already 35. Patio plants are covered or brought onto the back porch. G’night all and stay warm.

Tres.
It’s was a chilly 37 degrees when I got up this morning. Driving in, I stopped by one building and answered some E Mail and then headed off to the building where most of our work is done. I always take the long way around to the back of the site and saw several monster bucks, close in around the buildings. They’re all,(bucks/does) eating acorns like crazy, so I know just where I can find them. ๐
And the race for #1 begins in 3…2…1..
HAH I got firsties on the new open comments thread.
