Just catching up from yesterday and the two pieces that Squawk posted about Rush Limbaugh was very interesting. Since I used to listen to Rush everyday I remember all of this and it just proves that he (Rush) was always on the cutting edge of culture and politics.

Well it’s going to be a great day here and as soon as the sun comes up, I’ll be erecting my canopy and claiming the beachhead just past the cat-walk. Then I’ll make my morning walk down to the County Pier….Oh but coffee first.

So yesterday I came in to make some Sammaches and somehow the TV was on TCM and there was an old movie, An Affair to Remember, staring Cary Grant & Deborah Kerr. Point is I hadn’t thought about her in years until she popped up here on Redhead Friday. Oh and I spotted a beautiful 57 Cadillac Series 75 Fleetwood Limo that some rich gal had.  😉

An explanation of certain insane Jews and affirmation of Benzion’s Iron Law.

What and Who is Neturei Kart ?

The fringe Haredi sect is staunchly anti-Zionist, but far from beloved by other Jews

Photos of pro-Palestine rallies in the U.S. since the outbreak of the war often feature a group of Orthodox Jewish men, wearing the long black coats and fur hats of the Haredim, with large signs across their body. Haredi Jews are a rare sight at protests of any kind, but the group has shown up at protests in Boston, in Jersey City, in Montreal, in Washington, D.C., in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

They’re not counterprotesters; instead their signs castigate Israel in the harshest terms, blaming all of the violence of the war on Israel and promoting the complete eradication of the Jewish state, stances generally associated with only the farthest left groups — and almost never with Orthodox groups, who align with Israel.

    plus,

The group is not alone in its anti-Zionism; some Haredi sects, most famously the Satmar, also oppose the secular state of Israel. Both groups believe that Jews were exiled from Israel by God as punishment for sins, and God will reestablish the nation only during the Messianic era; for humans to do so before then is an affront to God. Leaders from both have even taken the extreme stance that the Holocaust was a form of divine retribution.

I’ve encountered these guys several times in NYC, at the Israel Day Parade for instance, and the police do a good job of keeping them back and away from the crowd.  If they didn’t it would be the biggest Jew on Jew beatdown in modern history.

Stephen B. Presser is one smarter people in America.  Contrary to what average journalist would have you believe, the Founders didn’t limit interpretation of the Constitution to nine people in black robes.

A Supreme Court ruling on the legitimacy of “nationwide injunctions” issued by district judges is expected within the next few weeks Several bills are also before Congress to forbid district judges from attempting to exercise this power, pursuant to the legislative branch’s constitutional power to limit the jurisdiction of lower federal courts. There are even some calls, for example from distinguished law professor and columnist Glenn Harlan Reynolds, for the president simply to ignore judicial rulings he believes to be unconstitutional. There are precedents for the president to make his own determination of constitutionality, and there is nothing in the Constitution itself that makes the courts the exclusive arbiter of legality. (Indeed, the president’s oath to uphold the Constitution and to “take care” that the laws be faithfully executed seems to imply some discretion in that regard).

Heads Up, People.  This Ukrainian attack across Russia yesterday has changed the calculus in geopolitics.  Let’s hope Trump, Hegseth and Rubio are on top of it.

A reminder, given today’s Ukrainian drone strikes, that it is becoming borderline-insane that we routinely allow ships *owned and operated by DoD-designated Chinese military companies* to sit in our ports with thousands of containers onboard and under their control.

I think we should ban any COSCO (China Shipping Corporation) containers and ships from all of our ports.  Think about how easy it would be to install missile launchers in a 53’x8’x8′ container with a retractable roof.

What if I told you that as I type this there was a vessel, associated with the Chinese PLA, that *could* be equipped with many dozens of anti-ship cruise missiles—and was parked less than 4 miles from the bulk of the U.S. Atlantic Fleet.

Back from my morning walk to the County Pier and I saw a tiny quarter sized Trigger Fish jump out of the surf onto the beach. There was a 12 inch Sand Trout nearby so he probably chased him out. I picked him up and tossed him back. No, not near the Trout.   If you look close you can see the “Trigger” on the top of his head right between my index and trigger finger.  I also saw a huge Sting Ray about 6 feet from the breakers. He was about the size of a saddle blanket. I got a couple of pictures with my cheap Flip Phone but they aren’t any good.

I loathe D_n Hatrick. (His own words how he got here)

    1. He was a radio host for like a million years
    2. His popularity was based on a populace/conservative political mouth piece.
    3. He soap boxed his popularity On the back of Austin Texas and property taxes
    4. He ran and won a Senate seat on the platform of property tax cuts
    5. He did not get that job done so he ran for Lt Gov
    6. and won
    7. All this over a 20 year period
    8. So this legislative period what was D_n Hatrick lazer focused on?
    9. Banning THC products that good people used to heal their bodies with.
    10. Making Texas a laughing stock
    11. Did I mention once again he has missed reducing property taxes?

A politically reliable friend of mine has warned me that D_n Hatrick has eyes on running for Resident of the House of White..  Proving if he loses

Patrick is on a mission to get people on his side, even after the bill has passed. It still awaits final approval from governor Greg Abbott, who has the ability to veto the bill. That is unlikely to happen, however. Patrick’s problem is, despite pushing through a bill that seemingly only he wants to to be written into law, he’s an unlikable, out-of-touch asshat.

Briefly popping in – finished my morning prayers, actually got some long overdue mileage on the treadmill, talked with Hubby, and have showered before my dental appointment this afternoon.  Gonna get the new molars lowered a tad.

There are some miscellaneous items sitting by our old house.  Isaac and Priscilla are getting kicked out of the next door house and crazy witchy sister is supposedly moving in.  The nightmares are going to start all over again.  I’ve suggested we put up a fence, even with temporary construction, to keep their dogs and crap on their side.

We suspect that I&P put those items on our property, expecting us to hold onto those items for them.  I’m wondering if witchy is going to come at us for “stealing”.  As Hubby said, it would be nice if they’d ask first.  Nice enough folks, but boundaries are a real conundrum for them.

    Today’s C&C roundup:

Good morning, C&C, it’s Monday! We soon approach the year’s back half. Think of it: we are almost halfway through 2025’s year of weirdness. In today’s roundup: Florida flirts with controversial candidate for its top university slot and the battle evidences shifting historical winds; MTG opens the bureaucratic curtain and exposes the heart of the Proxy War scam; New York Times meltdown over Trump re-tweet about Biden’s robot clone; Wall Street Journal pig piles on Harvard as communist co-conspirator and party school; and good election news from Europe as another key country turns back to the right.

This dude is  thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis close to being ensconced in his new position:

Santa Ono —or ‘Oh, no!’ to his critics— boasts elite-level diversity credentials, having been born in Canada to Japanese parents, making him a walking DEI unicorn. Meanwhile, the University of Florida, my alma mater, is Florida’s flagship university, the crown jewel of our public college system, a deep-south research Behemoth and the state’s anchor for international recognition.

To say Ono is fluent in wokese is like saying Joe Biden flowed with quirky personal anecdotes (before he lost his marbles). …

And – Suddenly and Unexpectedly! – he changed his mind.  Drastically.

Yeah. Right.  And Biden was fully competent up until he was dragged out of the White House.  The change happened about 18 months ago.  Right about the time he decided to go to pastures greener UF.  Draw your own conclusions.

Donald Trump Jr. has had quite the visceral reaction.  A clause has been added to the employment contract, that Ono will uphold DeSantis’ educational plans and not go woke once in place.

Ono stands to receive… $3 million a year. But, “President-elect Santa J. Ono’s contract,” the Herald reassured critics, “includes an unusual clause … His job performance — and potentially his pay — will be tied to how well he upholds educational reforms championed by Gov. Ron DeSantis.”

In other words, they’ll dock his pay if he starts up with the DEI stuff again. Or at least, that’s the idea.

… Nevertheless, conservative critics smell a rat. They clearly disagree, and a dramatic showdown at this week’s Board of Governor’s vote is inevitable.

Have “they” not learned that you can’t trust liberals?  He’ll get the job, start spreading rainbow farting unicorn dust all over the campus, and fight his contract restrictions/firing, claiming discrimination and throwing himself on the floor, screaming.  In front of the MSM cameras, of course. But that’s just my opinion.

Mr. C. is also very skeptical of Ono’s sudden reversal of opinion.

Love her or hate her, MTG speaks her mind:

On Saturday, fiery Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) posted a long, frustrated tweet that demands attention. Every once in a while, we’re permitted to peek —just for a second— behind the government’s curtain, and that’s what happened here. MTG began by accusing the intelligence agencies and the Pentagon of lying to Congress about the Proxy War: [insert tweet]

MTG’s story, however light on details, exposed a deep cynicism, even a contempt, that the permanent bureaucrats hold against elected members of Congress. The entrenched class of unelected executive agency termites view Congress not as a co-equal branch, but as a PR obstacle course. They don’t believe Congress deserves the truth. It doesn’t trust Congress with the truth— and more importantly, it thinks Congress doesn’t need the truth to vote the right way.

The bureaucrats see themselves as the government, not those folks who run for office.

Thanks to MTG for exposing the charade as best she can, even though tied down by the threats of prosecution for disclosing state secrets.

Then, Mr. C’s take on Harvard and China in bed together:
Oh, Harvard. Yesterday, the Wall Street Journal ran a story headlined, “Harvard Has Trained So Many Chinese Communist Officials, They Call It Their ‘Party School.’” …

The Journal marveled that China’s communist party prefers to send its officials to US institutions for governance training. What does it mean when our premier colleges are the top finishing schools where up-and-coming communists learn how to be better Marxists?

    /snip

According to the story, Harvard-trained comrades include Xi Jinping’s top trade negotiator, a former vice president of China, and several sitting Politburo members. In 2010, President Xi’s daughter even attended under an alias. While her daddy prepared to rule the world’s largest dictatorship and assume the reins of America’s geopolitical enemy, get this: Harvard helped hide her.

I guess it’s about time that we starting “aggressively” revoking CCCP visas?

While American manufacturing collapsed, IP theft soared, and the U.S. lost entire sectors to China’s strategic trade practices, America’s top universities enthusiastically invited CCP officials into the inner sanctum— training new communists in public policy, governance, negotiation, and national development.

Presumably, they weren’t learning about how to run capitalism.

We didn’t beat communism. We’re exporting it! We professionalized it, credentialed it, and sent it home….

    /snip

Maybe what was most encouraging about this story was its timing. …nearly everything in it,…has been in the public record for years.

We’ve seen this kind of thing before… this story is elite repositioning, a soft pivot into a strategic recalibration. The Journal’s editors are reading the room. They’re sensing that the regime consensus of engaging China, educating their officials, and “exporting democracy” has collapsed.

This is a narrative change, like the slow turning of public opinion on the jab.  Does someone know something that is about to be revealed, and so Hahvahd is trying to get in front of it?  Who knows?

  18. Tedtam Avatar

I don’t know if y’all saw this, but the BBC has acquired a N. Korean phone and it reveals the control of the regime there.

On Thursday, I have an Echocardiogram and a Nuke Stress Test scheduled.

Pre-procedure instructions have me withholding two of my drugs for 24 hours prior  – namely a calcium channel blocker and a beta-blocker. I haven’t read up on either one in many years, I just take ‘em. 🙂

Here’s a nice primer on calcium channel blockers from the Cleveland Clinic:

Calcium Channel Blockers are a group of medications that limit how your body uses calcium. By slowing down how your cells use calcium, these medications can lower your blood pressure, prevent heart rhythm problems and more.

Calcium is an electrolyte, which means it has a positive charge when it’s dissolved in water. Your body uses ions (atoms with an electrical charge) in electrolytes to transport things into and out of your cells. Your body is always working to balance things out. That means when calcium ions enter a cell, sodium ions leave, and vice versa.

Those ions enter and exit your cells using channels, which act just like doorways to the inside of your cells. Those channels also have a type of security feature, which only allows ions that have the right type of charge (either positive or negative) and the right size to enter and exit.

Calcium channel blockers take advantage of the fact that certain types of calcium channels tend to exist only in certain parts of the body. This allows targeting of medications depending on which channels they affect.

There are many calcium channels on each of the cells in question. At the right dosage, calcium channel blockers (sometimes calcium channel antagonists) only block some — but not all — of them. That slows down those cells’ use of calcium because there are fewer ways to bring it inside.

Calcium channel blockers’ main uses are to treat heart and circulatory conditions. In the United States, they’ve been previously approved to treat the following:

    • High blood pressure
    • Arrhythmias
    • Chest pain (angina)
    • Coronary artery spasm.
    • Enlarged heart
    • Pulmonary hypertension
    • Subarachnoid hemorrhage

Amlodipine is a commonly prescribed calcium channel blocker.

  21. Tedtam Avatar

Hubby’s been taken off of all of his painkillers pre-surgery (on Wednesday).

    Yep, he’s feelin’ it.

  22. Shannon Avatar

    Next up, Beta-blockers.

Beta-blockers are a class of medicines most commonly used for problems involving your heart and circulatory system. They can also help treat conditions related to your brain and nervous system. Beta-blockers work by slowing down certain types of cell activity. This can help manage your blood pressure, heart rate and more.

Beta-blockers slow down your heart rate and relax smooth muscle tissue in your blood vessels. This may help lower your blood pressure.

More specifically, they slow down certain types of cell activity. Your body naturally makes neurotransmitters called epinephrine and norepinephrine. They play crucial roles in your body’s response to stress and danger (“fight or flight”).

Beta-blockers work by blocking the action of epinephrine and norepinephrine in the organs in your body. By doing so, they can prevent your heart from beating too fast. They can also help relax your heart and blood vessels to lower your blood pressure.

Beta-blockers are mainly used to treat heart and circulatory conditions including:

    • Aortic dissection or and aortic aneurysms
    • Arrhythmias, like tachycardia
    • Chest pain (angina)
    • Congestive heart failure
    • Coronary heart disease
    • Heart attack
    • Hypertension
    • Enlarged heart

Metoprolol is the most commonly prescribed beta-blocker. It’s a cardioselective (B1 receptor) beta-blocker.

    1. bsue54 Avatar

They also help migraine/vascular headaches – the neurologist who was evaluating mine called the internist/cardiologist he was sending me to because of my elevated B/P and asked what would be best – I won’t say that I’ve had NONE, but they have been few, far
between and fairly short of duration.

Got my new molars lowered today.  After a week of using them, I may have gotten more used to them but they were still too big for proper chewing.  Dr. Salam told me she thought I’d be back, but understood why I wanted to wait.  “Measure twice, cut once” kind of deal.

We had our usual banter, and she had an assistant using suction as she ground down the superfluous material.  We got to the end, and since the assistant thought she was done, she left.  Dr. Salam then remembered she wanted to polish the teeth, and asked me to hold the suction since she was without an assistant. I’ve done it before and I took it in hand, waved it at her, and said “You better not mess up, or I’m gonna suck. you. up!”

She waved her tool at me and said, “Yeah, but I’m going to polish you off!”

I replied with “Suck around and find out!”

She laughed and said that was the best one, then we began putting stuff in my mouth.

I was sure it was going to need more grinding later but once everything settled out, they were perfect. Thursday is another extraction, possibly a root canal. Yuck.
